Reviews for Albright Hussey Manor Hotel
Review 1:Wi Fi didn't work. Told breakfast would be available at 7.30 when booking in; however restaurant not open until 8.00. Hot buffet not served until 8.30. Order was taken as an alternative - satisfactory, but not ideal. Ground floor room overlooked garbage area - no outlook at all: ok for one night but would not be acceptable for a longer stay.
Review 2:Comfortable room and we'll appointed bathroom. Staff courteous and advised before arrival that a wedding reception would be taking place and offered recommendations for other places to dine if required.
Review 3:Bathrooms aren't all the same size and this one was compact. If the hotel is very busy at the weekend, breakfast is buffet rather than a la carte.
Review 4:The attention to detail in every aspect of this family run hotel is outstanding. The staff are professional and yet friendly, the rooms are immaculate and the standard of cuisine is excellent - even when the breakfast is buffet style. AA two rosettes and four stars very well earned.
Review 5:Nothing at all!
Review 6:The food we had was excellent - well cooked and beautifully presented. The surroundings were deal for our family celebration despite inclement weather. However, the highest accolade must go to the staff - they were all so friendly and helpful. Brilliant!
Review 7:Bedding mattress poor. pillows lumpy. Small bathroom narrow to get in due to bath shape rooms in annexe can be noisy people and cars as it backs onto car park.
Review 8:Restaurant very nice food good. Gardens and views nice.
Review 9:Got lost. You need more signs! Pillows hard. Lost my jacket button which was bright yellow (was wearing it to a wedding).Someone went to see if it had been found, but never came back to me.
Review 10:Wedding well catered for., both venue and food.
Review 11:There was a wedding on on the good rooms were all taken up with them. They had to change our room because the original did not meet our expectations of a view of the Shropsghire Countryside - it was the car park. Even then the bathroom was pitiful.
Review 12:Position of Hotel
Review 13:In room there was tea coffee and a sachet of chocolate but no decaf tea or coffee and no fruit teas or alternative tea such as earl grey/ Darjeeling . Expected a better choice given room cost. Toiletries adequate but not luxurious.
Review 14:Quiet location and hotel was very clean. Bed was comfortable and lovely country views from room. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Gardens pretty with swans in the moat. Stayed one night and there was a wedding on but no noise in our room.
Review 15:We loved this hotel because of its stunning location. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and made us very welcome. The room was very comfortable and the food in the restaurant was superb. We would definitely return.
Review 16:The room was very hot and unfortunately the window overlooked a courtyard which was the smoking area for a wedding
Review 17:The service in the resteraunt and the food were outstanding
Review 18:Dated bedroom decor, bath panel cracked and bath tub had a poorly patched repair. Common parts could do with an update. Would have liked stronger coffee at breakfast, but didn't want to nit pick, they were busy.
Review 19:We arrived for a 21st birthday in next village.Very helpful welcome - we had a trailer, good breakfast. Pretty grounds.
Review 20:Everything was excellent, the original Elizabethan manor house is a splendid piece of history, lovely bar and restaurant, small but beautiful grounds with the moat and resident black swans. Staff were brilliant and they provide an excellent level of service, food superb and the setting of the restaurant and bar in the manor house is great.
Review 21:The food in the restaurant was not the top notch we were expecting. I think they need to bring it all back again to basics, forget the frills, learn to cook well and then add the frills back then. Meat was dry and overcooked, although it looked good on the plate.
Review 22:Wine list was very comprehensive. Staff attentiveness was good.
Review 23:Room decor a little tired. Very noisy wedding party made a noise till 1.30am
Review 24:Very helpful staff. Good food. Lovely setting and location. Attractive garden.
Review 25:We were there for my nephews wedding. I spent £430 on 3 rooms for myself and my 2 daughters. My one daughter and her partner stayed in room 26. They couldn't get to sleep until 04.30 due to another guest causing so much trouble that the police had to be called. When they finally got to bed, the mattress was appalling, feeling as though it was broken in two, so were up by 7.30 and couldn't wait to leave. They didn't even stay for breakfast, so we didn't even get chance to spend time with them in the morning which was the reason I paid £120 for them to stay at the hotel and not the Travel lodge. When we arrived, the bath in their room had hairs in it and had to be cleaned again. Very disappointing experience for them and a waste of money for me. The other 2 rooms were great though, and the staff were very apologetic about room 26. I'd definitely return, but would stick with The Royalty!
Review 26:My partner and I stayed in the Royalty suite which was amazing!
Review 27:A really lovely intimate place to stay. Excellent management who care about the staff, which is evident in their very friendly attitude. Superb food.
Review 28:Absolutely nothing to dislike
Review 29:Could not fault this Hotel. As near perfect as you could get. Beautiful buildings, first class rooms and facilities, excellent staff, excellent food, great value at £85 including FEB.
Review 30:The room wasn't of the standard expected for the price of £120 (eg marks on floor and bath, TV squeezed onto wall). Also no veggie sausages at breakfast 'we get no call for them so we don't stock them'. We felt staff were poorly trained and this impacted on our stay.
Review 31:We attended a wedding at the venue so it was convenient to stay over. The grounds were very well maintained
Review 32:I have used this hotel several times and consistently find the service impeccable, good breakfast, friendly and helpful staff, great bedrooms and a restful sleep. Ticks all the boxes.
Review 33:The buffet breakfast wasn't all ready at the same time- we had to make a number of trips to the hot buffet,
Review 34:Greated by a lovely bubbly man showed us too our room and where breakfast would be if we decided to eat in restaurant .
Review 35:Can't fault a single thing.
Review 36:The service, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was stunning, the view spectacular and the atmosphere luxurious. The countryside was beautiful and yet so close to Shrewsbury. The hotel is a history adventure in itself.
Review 37:Beautifully appointed and comfortable rooms. Spotlessly clean. Wonderful grounds and welll cooked breakfast. Service kind and efficient without being odiously superciious.
Review 38:having stayed before in the old part of hotel with lovely room and bathroom, we were disappointed with the bathroom this time around. We appreciate the need to cater for disabled guests but felt we were in an old peoples home and no mention was made of these facilities on arrival which would at least have prepared us.
Review 39:Lovely drive up to the hotel Nice quiet surroundings Old part of hotel lovely
Review 40:My only issue is the cost of the room , I don't feel my experience and the facilities reflected the cost!
Review 41:The hotel was clean and in a great location! Breakfast was lovely and the staff were friendly and helpful!
Review 42:poor quality room for an executive double, room 26 troubled by outside noise from taxis and ciggy smokers. drinks at breakfast lukewarm
Review 43:nice area and most staff quite attentive. other half said cooked breakfast was good
Review 44:We didn't know the area very well so I had a look online and liked the look of The Allbright Hussey. It turned out to be a bit of a gem: comfortable and clean; good food and lovely staff.
Review 45:The bed and pillow were much too firm for our taste. Dinner food quality was excellent but could do with extended choice for anyone staying for more than one night.
Review 46:The location, staff service, and food quality were excellent. We could not fault how we were looked after.
Review 47:The room allocated was in serious need of upgrading. The bath and panel were both cracked, the shower screen was dirty and the toilet was stained. Although the bed base was sound the mattress was clearly not and both of us hardly slept. I woke with back ache both mornings. One of the restaurant staff also needed a lesson in manners. My partner couldn't eat his starter fully as part was undercooked, he just looked at us as though we were bad for wasting food and made us feel very uncomfortable. I got married here in 2003 and it was awesome back then. So much worse now, I won't be going back!
Review 48:The location is excellent and the building itself is amazing.
Review 49:Nothing.
Review 50:Very nice and efficient staff. A well lit bedroom, even for reading in bed. Easy parking. An historic house with grounds out in the country. Easy parking. Would be very happy to stay again.
Review 51:nothing
Review 52:Absolutely beautiful historic place to stay. Just 5mins drive into Shrewsbury. Everything was superb. We would like to say that Javier and other staff members were very informative about, the history, weddings and other functions that are catered for at the hotel. Dinner & breakfast were most enjoyable.
Review 53:Breakfast was a bit poor. There was a hot buffet but I gather you could have had a choice of eggs but I was not offered that by my waitress. I was disappointed that she failed to suggest the alternatives.
Review 54:Greeted on reception by a lovely helpful fun lady always a good start to a stay. The good is great the meals are small but very tasty. The rooms are quaint in style in keeping with the hotel and are really comfortable and spacious.
Review 55:some parts of the hotel look a bit tired there is an old and new part but nothing too bad
Review 56:lovely character hotel, staff were very friendly and food was excellent went with a group of friends for birthday and all really liked it
Review 57:Bathroom clean but décor a bit tired.
Review 58:Good dinner and very helpful staff. A wedding reception was underway but separation of dining rooms and accommodation meant this was no problem at all.
Review 59:Very deserted on arrival at 2pm. Had trouble getting lunch. Only sandwiches available which were a bit dry. Cheese sandwich could have done with some tomato and possibly toasted. Bathroom lights did not work but were fixed. Suites for the money need updating a bit.
Review 60:Location. Beautiful old hotel in lovely grounds. My nephew got married here and my sister had her wedding anniversary there also so when it's full of people it has good atmosphere.
Review 61:The bathroom. It was 30 years out of date. The shower was appalling. Throughout the hotel it showed lack of investment. It is possible to have a very old building, keep the character but have great bathrooms, carpets, curtains, lighting wall finishes etc. It is not a 4* hotel. Nobody to welcome and help carry the suitcases up. There was a wedding going on which was clearly distracting and music thumping away till midnight.
Review 62:The individuality and character of the hotel. The staff could not have been friendlier and more committed. The old windows and view over the garden. the 4 poster bed was surprisingly comfortable.
Review 63:The rooms were very clean, but some of the decor needs updating and there are a few small, but nonetheless visible signs of wear and tear.
Review 64:Probably the friendliest, most efficient staff I've ever met. I travel a lot, and this is the only place I've found where there didn't seem to be a weak link in the staff chain!
Review 65:bar staff seemed to be more interested in doing other duties rather than serve at the hotel bar...which wasnt too busy so no real excuse
Review 66:lovely picturesque location, beautiful bulding and very clean inside. room was very airy and modern for an olde world style hotel. would definately use this hotel again
Review 67:Situated just outside Shrewsbury in a lovely quiet setting. The atmosphere was good as soon as you walked through the door. The staff are friendly but unobtrusive and extremely efficient. Food is of a very high standard.
Review 68:No issues at all.
Review 69:Enjoyed my stay - quirky room but nice -as it was period property. Professionalism of food and drink service. Loved the garden with black swans.
Review 70:The décor in our room was very dated and needed bringing up to 21st century standards. The food was very nice but there was no wow factor. I would not have wanted to pay full price for the tasting menu.
Review 71:It is a beautiful building and a lovely setting. It is an ideal wedding venue. The staff were lovely and the room was comfortable. We had the tasting menu, which was very nice.
Review 72:too hot in room expensive for facilities you get and location smelt horrific in corridors on the Thursday morning.
Review 73:Nice clean room building and grounds were beautiful
Review 74:Purely a personal thing. The bed was a bit too firm for our liking, but that will not stop a return visit.
Review 75:Excellent food and fantastic staff. Plenty of parking in well kept grounds.
Review 76:Have already e mailed the owners,.very very noisy guests with no respect for others ( August 16th wedding ) the staff know
Review 77:The place was lovely, the food and staff were fab

Review 80:A very warm and friendly hotel with an excellent restaurant and staff. The rooms in the old house are full of character and charm.
Review 81:Room next to laundry room Spin vibrated until after 11 pm Wardrobe wouldnt clise until jammed with a tissue Room v small Pillows hard
Review 82:The staff the location the restaurant
Review 83:Breakfast was a bit dried out, and no option other than having eggs scrambled. The pastries, fruit and yogurts were a better option!
Review 84:Free wifi Hospitality tray Great customer service
Review 85:The regency Suite was beautiful. Andy was on duty & soon made us feel extremely welcome. Nothing was too much trouble. Evening Meal superb, staff very professional & again nothing was too much trouble
Review 86:There was a slight musty smell in the room, specially the sheets. The bathroom needed a bit of refurbishment. This didn't spoil our weekend though.
Review 87:Staff were absolutely excellent. A special mention to Javier that made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. Food was delicious (we had dinner one night at the hotel restaurant)
Review 88:Very friendly and helpful. Being a single traveler it was nice to be treated so well. It was a lovely cosy, quiet room very relaxing. X
Review 89:Charge for using a debit card .
Review 90:Beautiful hotel Food amazing Staff very helpful
Review 91:The ensuite in room 16 is far to small with the bath. Far better to have a good size shower cubicle.
Review 92:The whole place, especially the food and service.
Review 93:We asked for a double bed and had 2 singles and were not informed before we got to our room.
Review 94:The Meal was excellent the rest was ok
Review 95:The room smelt damp.
Review 96:Lovely restaurant and food

Review 114:Nothing that I can think of
Review 115:Location, hotel, staff and food were all great
Review 116:Excellent rooms, breakfast and friendly service without being crowded or corporate. Such a lovely location and still a feeling of personal service.
Review 117:Poor soundproofing in rooms. We could hear what was being said in the next room.
Review 118:Dinner was excellent. Staff very friendly and helpful
Review 119:Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. We had to leave a day early at no notice and the manager waived the final night's charge
Review 120:The bacon at breakfast was overcooked and tough
Review 121:Quality of the food at the evening meals was excellent
Review 122:Everything, could not fault it.
