Reviews for The New Inn

Review 1:Went last minute for New Year's Eve. Had an excellent meal followedby a great night with a bar full of people we'd never met before.Lovely breakfast and comfortable and l clean room.

Review 2:The price is a bit too high for the accommodation, especially once the dogs are added in, compared with other places we've stayed. My husband wasn't keen on the brewery beers unfortunately and there's no alternative option. (Sorry he's a Black Sheep or Theakstons man)

Review 3:Overnight stay in a lovely cottage, cosy, clean & well decorated with dog walks right on the doorstep. Really good food served, small menu but great variety within it, really well cooked and presented!

Review 4:Please upgrade the showers, when stood under the shower in this day & age, it would be nice for it not to go from pleasa t to cold, then hot.

Review 5:Friendly staff, excellent beer & excellent food.

Review 6:Made to feel right at home in a traditional local pub. Staff were awesome, genuine and friendly. We will be visiting again as we liked our stay there so much. The food was delightful and the fine range of proper beer a joy! We visited the Brewery next door and that was a treat.

Review 7:Cosy room and excellent breakfast. A nice friendly pub with good food and beers. Only a short drive from Pickering. Lovely staff and a great place to stay. We would certainly stay again.

Review 8:Expensive for what it was, after all it's just a pub B&B. The rooms were clean and tidy but I had to clean the shower head as it was black with muck. I did tell the staff about this and told them that new advice from council health departments concerning avoiding legionnaire's disease is to sterilize shower heads monthly and record it.The outside edges of window frames were filthy too, very off putting when the windows were opened.

Review 9:Very friendly staff, they appeared to like the fact that you were staying with them. Breakfast very good.

Review 10:Our room only had a corner bath with no shower over but did have pipes to connect to the taps, not a good combination with someone who had recently had a hip replacement

Review 11:The friendliness of staff and its location, Peaceful.

Review 12:Lack of mobile signal. Tired heating system some of which did not work. Shower over bath poorly located and lacked adjustment

Review 13:Cottage had a good size lounge as well as a bedroom

Review 14:The welcome, like the food and the on-site micro-brewery are just about perfect. The bathroom was in need of a little updating, but perfectly adequate, comfortable and clean. The rest of the stay more than made up for the lack of a shower.

Review 15:The friendliness of the the staff .Especially the girls at the bar and at the breakfast room + the restaurant .Added bonus The New Inn brews its own range off beers .

Review 16:The cottage doesn't have any cooking or chilling facilities. Perhaps a microwave and a fridge would be a good edition

Review 17:We have stayed here before, the cottage is excellent base for the areas walks close by. The garden is super secure for the dogs which is a huge bonus and having the outdoor garden space makes a big difference. Then there is the food and drink at The New Inn which is fantastic and I cannot rate highly enough!

Review 18:The bathroom in the cottage we had was in need of a bit of a refit especially the shower although it was spotlessly clean.

Review 19:Loved the comfy bed and the food was great.

Review 20:Huge comfortable bed in the 4 poster suite, pleasant staff. lovely breakfast, great pet friendly pub with traditional beers, make sure you try the Yorkshire Cider.

Review 21:nowhere to go in village but offset by good weather and friendliness of locals and staff

Review 22:staff were excellent and food also. room was a good size and all amenities were there

Review 23:Evening Meal time early finish, suggest 9pm Breakfast late start, suggest 7.30am - Walkers need to be away earlier Packed Lunch was poor Accommodation over priced

Review 24:Bed, Bath and Breakfast

Review 25:Good pub, friendly locals, food smelled great. Breakfast included in price (although I didn't do dinner or breakfast). Great, friendly and helpful staff. Bar only does local Yorkshire beers and whilst I found one that I liked (and will become my preferred tipple on Yorksire), no international bottled beers are on offer. Room 1 was a teensy bit dated but cosy, comfortable and clean and even had a spare Dimplex heater I could plug in, which was much appreciated as it was a chilly summer evening. Serviceable shower, good stream of hot water and well-placed dressing table, vanity mirror and full-length mirror. Lots of lighting points and sockets for charging devices. Annoyingly could only get free wifi in the bar area. It's about 5 miles outside of Pickering so you'd have to get a taxi if you plan on eating/drinking in Pickering. Plenty of parking space at the pub. Recommended

Review 26:Very friendly staff and really good food. Only Booked a double room but we're given a one bedroom cottage with garden because we had the dog. Much appreciated.

Review 27:I didn't rate the quality of the food at breakfast very highly.

Review 28:Very comfortable bed and clean room. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Bar staff very chatty and the morning waitress had a lovely smile to greet you.

Review 29:Layout of room affected by original building. Shower a bit weak.

Review 30:Room was nice and clean. Good breakfast. Friendly staff. Great beer. Nice views to the front. Good beer garden, sun trap.

Review 31:Breakfast was a little disappointing, it didn't live up to a high expectation of a super tasty country full english. It was rather tastless.

Review 32:we stayed in the cottage on site, our own private entrance/place, the roomspace and comfy bed. The car parking just outside the door. No phone signal !!!!

Review 33:We went to a concert in the Dalby Forest and shortly after booking received a call asking if we would like to book a mini bus. This was brilliant value. Oh and the Red Lager, something special.

Review 34:Unfortunately had to shut bedroom window ( room3) because of smells of cooking from kitchen below. Couldn't get onto wifi, even in bar/restaurant. Was told it was busy but this was also the case first thing in the morning.

Review 35:The bedroom was light and bright, especially with late afternoon sunshine streaming in. Good supply of tea/coffee making sachets etc. Bar menu was varied, at reasonable prices, with good range of their real beers.

Review 36:It wasn't so much a bad experience, more a question that the room we occupied I felt needed an upgrade on the bathroom. There wasn't a proper shower installed & the space was cramped.

Review 37:The area was beautiful & the staff were very helpful & friendly, nothing was too much trouble for them to assist. The food & beer were excellent.

Review 38:Nothing

Review 39:Our room was pet friendly but def couldnt tell other dogs had used it. Very clean and comfortable with a double and single. My son ended up moving the mattress onto the floor as he said his bed was slanting slightly but it's an old pub so it could have been the floor. Food was excellent had steak, steak burger and steak pie. Stacy who runs the pub is lovely and doesn't stop and she fell in love with Casper our puppy. Real ales are always a bonus. Breakfast set us all up for the day. All in all an excellent birthday treat for my hubbie. New Inn is our local when we are in the area.

Review 40:menu was Ok but not great and quality not superb. My wife had the Duck and it was overcooked.

Review 41:Pub looked at first glance a bit grubby but the staff were really friendly even helping our firends find a B&B in the village when their booknig had got lost. To be fair they had just also got a new manager who seemed really efficient and big plans to improve the place as well. On site Brewery great and a fantastic choice of really good real ales. If you get a chance sign up for the Brewery tour !!

Review 42:As we were there in November, with the short hours of daylight, if you wanted to relax in your room for a while prior to dining, there was only one chair in the room and that was not comfortable to relax on.

Review 43:Meals were very good, value wise and choice wise, Dining room was very comfortable, well set out and pleasant to use. Room OK except lack of chairs. Bar was comfortable, an excellent range of beers and lagers, but not to every ones taste.

Review 44:Security aspects after hours were a little worrying. Unable to get food late on and unable to get a drink after 10.30 on Sunday.

Review 45:Breakfast excellent both in service and food quality. Barman helpful. Good range of real ales and shorts.

Review 46:We stayed for two nights and had breakfast and an evening meal on both days. The food is excellent and the beer is some of the best we have had. The inn is well situated for visiting the surrounding attractions. Great staff.

Review 47:The fact that we were "ordered" not to put the heating on and it was freezing in the cottage. We then had to ask 3 times before it was sorted out. The sofa was filthy. No biscuits with the tea and coffee. Not value for money at £105

Review 48:The pub

Review 49:We stayed in the grounds of the Inn which gave us privacy & quiet lodgings. It was great to come back to at the end of the day knowing a good meal was a few steps away plus the country style atmosphere of the full lounge of locals! The restaurant was always full so we enjoyed our food where we sat. Most importantly of all for my husband was the excellent beer brewed on the site. It was even better than "Black Sheep"!!!! And that is high praise for him.

Review 50:I have called at the the New Inn previously but not stayed. I enjoyed my stay. The food and the service was excellent and the breakfast was amazing. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff very attentive. Would definitely stay there again. Lorna Leeds

Review 51:We came for a bit of quiet time after getting married. It was perfect! The staff were brilliant, welcoming and friendly. Lovely atmosphere. Good was exceptional. Ales brewed on site lovely and tour of the brewery a must! Would come back! Lovely picturesque place and a short drive from Pickering which is gorgeous.

Review 52:No shower, just a bath with rubber shower attached to bath taps. Breakfast was very poor! Also that room was advertised at £60 and I was charged £85 if I had known that I would have complained the night before and insisted on another room because not in a million years was the room and the poor breakfast worth £85!!! It was my partners 40th birthday surprise, the only surprise was how poor it all was!

Review 53:The young lady that booked us in was lovely, the meal we had in the evening was excellent!

Review 54:Great rooms (cottage) clean and modern excellent attention to detail. food very good and varied. staff very efficient and attentive. prompt service. brewery on site makes for good beer too

Review 55:Food excellent, especially the steak Good selection of beers and lagers produced at the brewery at the bottom of the garden, which were freely offered to taste. Cracking choice of breakfasts Very helpful and hospitable staff, especially as we were a bit late arriving.

Review 56:The service and welcome fantastic, the atmosphere, comfort amazing, our room beautiful, clean and everything you possibly needed. Our meal and breakfast stunning. This was for our wedding anniversary and we will be going back next year.

Review 57:There are a lot of stairs as the building is on different levels so some people would find it difficult. Thought that the Restaurant menu would be different to the Bar menu.

Review 58:Lovely big garden area to sit in. They sell their own brand of beer/lager which was very good. Very comfy beds.

Review 59:Nothing - there was absolutely nothing to dislike !

Review 60:Everything was superb, from the warm reception to the fantastic New Inn breakfast - the cottage itself was stunning - wish we'd stayed longer !
