Reviews for Priory Inn
Review 1:Pillows a bit flat - not a problem for me but my husband said they were uncomfortable! Room was perfectly functional but a little tired. Shower was great!
Review 2:Staff really lovely and friendly. We were late arriving but it wasn't an issue. Food was lovely
Review 3:The bathroom was a little cramped and the shower/bath could do with updating but not a major issue!
Review 4:The bed was comfortable and clean. The room was spacious. Staff were super friendly and managed to check us in early. Breakfast was tasty! Lovely atmosphere.
Review 5:The bed was really comfortable and the breakfast was really good quality! The staff were lovely and really looked after us! Great hotel for our first time away with our 10week old! Family friendly and overall just a great hotel.
Review 6:The food in the restaurant was amazing! Great philosophy on sourcing food locally and local people being able to barter their goods. Lovely art work to see too.
Review 7:A few spot repairs to the knocks and stains on the furniture in the rooms would make the 5 star difference, especially considering the room price per night.
Review 8:We were very impressed with the friendly helpful staff who pulled out the stops to get the rooms ready early for us as we were attending a wedding shortly after arrival. Bed linen and towels were spotlessly clean. Nice big bed. Breakfast was excellent.
Review 9:Staff were lovely, food was very good and all round The Priory offers very good value for money. Great for visiting Tetbury and just round the corner from the main street.
Review 10:There was a constant humming in our room, noise like a fridge makes but we had no fridge - like a dripping tap once heard can't turn off I had a terrible nights sleep :-(.
Review 11:The food, staff and bar very good, breakfast good too.
Review 12:I liked the live music in the bar. Breakfast was brilliant and we didnt eat again the whole day as we had eaten so much at breakfast. Evening meal the night before was excellent too. Brilliant stay.
Review 13:Bathroom v small and a little grubby. Not many seats at the bar and after 3 hrs drive there was no were to sit and had to go else were !!
Review 14:Hmm food was nice. Staff friendly
Review 15:The staff were very.efficient, friendly and keen to help with anything you required. The facilities were good and the bed really comfortable. Lots of hot water for the shower.
Review 16:We arrived back at the hotel after dinner at 23 15 for a night cap to be told the bar is closed even to residents? The attitude of the staff or and management was not very good. Regards, Peter
Review 17:Room seemed a bit tired. Breakfast OK but the 'full English ' was incomplete and had to ask for toast. Generally the place seemed a bit spartan.
Review 18:Location
Review 19:This is not a bad thing, as I don't really have anything bad to say, but just something that would be a nice addition is somewhere cosy to sit after dinner to savour a brandy or take a coffee rather than having to sit at your table or in your hotel room.
Review 20:The staff here are so good. They remembered us from previous visits, such a nice touch, and were so welcoming. They are a credit to The Priory.
Review 21:Great location. Good breakfast and excellent evening meal. Very comfortable room. Liked the fact that the restaurant sourced it's products from within a 30 mile radius. Good information given on their suppliers.
Review 22:Continental breakfast disappointing. Serving of yogurt unsatisfactory. Staff not as helpful
Review 23:Excellent evening meals. Staff very helpful with allergies.
Review 24:Bathroom was very mouldy. Breakfast was mixed, bacon and sausage lovely but sloppy black pudding and potato cake not crispy either.
Review 25:Staff friendly, bed comfortable.
Review 26:Rooms in need of updating: furniture scuffed, marked and tatty. Comfy bed but pillows old, thin and in need of replacement. Breakfast selection poor - no choice of yoghurt (only a bowl of debatable flavour), components of a full English but no fish/alternatives. No toast given, had to ask for some. Overall, poor value for money.
Review 27:Reception staff helpful. Quiet location. Powerful shower.
Review 28:Slow service, waited 40 minutes for bottle of wine with dinner. Very dark in restaurant and couldn't read the menu. Duvet cover and sheet both has small rips. Bathroom tiny and needed updating. No internet. Waited almost 80 minutes for cooked breakfast and staff totally unhelpful. Cleaner passed our breakfast table twice carrying mop and bucket after cleaning both gents and ladies toilets. Bar manager displayed severe attitude after both gents in our party complained about the quality of the beer. Met with other guests who had endured similar experiences. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone!
Review 29:Central location.
Review 30:Staff were helpful, friendly and attentive. Our room was clean, tidy and all in order with plenty of room and all the facilities anyone would require. We plan to stay again next autumn to visit Westonbirt again. Car parking also good which is important to us.
Review 31:The friendly staff make this hotel. Food was very good and reasonably priced. A very relaxed atmosphere. Location great for places we wanted to visit. Plenty of car parking space!
Review 32:The room was spacious and the beds were comfortable. Good storage space for clothes. Warmly welcomed and staff were very helpful. Good restaurant serving quality food at a good price. Produce sourced within 30 miles where possible.
Review 33:The tepid temperature of the food . Firstly the lukewarm fish in the evening meal and a cold plate . Secondly the cold breakfast plate and lukewarm mushrooms .
Review 34:The room and the comfort
Review 35:Nothing. Very happy with our stay.
Review 36:Let's be honest here, we chose to stay at the The Priory Inn for our visit to Westonbirt primarily due to location and price. What we didn't expect but were delighted to receive, was such a warm welcome from the staff, a large, clean, quiet and comfortable room with a HUGE bed. Loved the bed! Also, we very much appreciated the well stocked hospitality tray; especially the Cotswold Hills Spring Water and locally made biccies. The bathroom, while small, was clean and fresh smelling and had the biggest bath towels I have ever seen in my life! The shower was hot and powerful too, so another box ticked. We decided to eat in the restaurant which boasts a 30 mile ethos. We certainly challenged them by ordering pizza but even the organic flour came from a local mill. Everything is cooked to order so, even if there is a little wait at busy times, it sure is worth it. Each dinner table also had an update from the owners - an interesting read for me anyway. I am a keen cook and grow my own herbs, so I enjoyed reading about The Priory Inn's development in this area with the renowned Jekka McVicar. The Priory also provides space for talented local artists. Many of these are for sale. Their works - not the artists themselves! Breakfast was fab too. Everything was locally sourced and cooked to perfection. Add to this the free parking at the hotel (only couple of minutes stroll from the centre of Tetbury), complimentary WIFI (very fast and reliable), the excellent location in the beautiful English Cotswolds and you have the perfect base from which to explore this wonderful area.
Review 37:There was little provision for relaxing guest seating. Most of the seating in the bar was for eating. Not a huge issue however.
Review 38:Good location and excellent staff
Review 39:our room had a faulty tap and there was a continuous drone, coming from somewhere, all night which kept us awake-spoilt our stay - whether this is fixable we don't know but would put us off staying in that room again
Review 40:staff, food location were all excellent
Review 41:The bath-tub mat was removed and not replaced and there was no soap but the bar we had brought was removed on the first morning and not replaced.
Review 42:Service and food were really good.
Review 43:Had to move rooms just before midnight as Room 16 was really noisy with loud generator directly outside the room. No air conditioning in rooms. Lumpy bed. Meagre breakfast.
Review 44:Good location. Friendly staff.
Review 45:In a small lobby area, the wardrobe doors were designed to trap you between the bathroom and bedroom!! they fell open easily and if there had been a fire that would have been dangerous!!!
Review 46:The staff were amazing, couldn't do enough and my food tolerances were dealt with calmly and with care.. a great difference from some other places!!
Review 47:The only minor negative was the room was a little too cold for me, the radiator did not warm up very much.
Review 48:Courteous staff,. The food was brilliant. The location was perfect for me. The town of Tetbury and nearby Beverston are both a delight to visit.
Review 49:Lighting in restaurant very poor. Difficult to read menu and see what you are eating.
Review 50:Very comfortable and excellent location for our visit to Highgrove. Evening meal In Restaurant very good.
Review 51:Small bathroom and the through traffic.
Review 52:Liked the principle of local food sourced within 30 miles and that we could move our dinner booking with no problem to accommodate our son and his girlfriend who were delayed.
Review 53:Real pity about the quality of the breakfast coffee -- rather stewed and tasteless. It would be so easy to provide small separate cafetières of fresh coffee, and probably less work for the breakfast staff too. While on breakfast, the fruit selection wasn't brilliant, the muesli a bit boring, and the yogurt not quite enough; cooked breakfast brilliant though!
Review 54:Lovely room, everything provided that one could need. Excellent food, and great to have an upmarket chippy as well as the very good gastropub menu. Tetbury is a fascinating small town, with lovely local walks as well as the interesting Cotswoldy shops.
Review 55:Furniture in rooms very dated. Room not cleaned until late afternoon. Dirty mug from previous day not changed. Guest lounge had garden umbrellas laying over bar, unwelcoming. During dinner staff walked through restaurant twice with vacuum cleaner. During breakfast on Saturday staff member walked through dragging mop and bucket.
Review 56:Staff were very helpful. Location was good.
Review 57:Only a small point - perhaps the breakfast portions could be slightly larger, but I am sure if we had asked more would have been provided.
Review 58:The ethos of the restaurant is beyond belief. They operate a 30mile food supply zone and they take their employees to their suppliers so they can see first hand where the supplies come from. A quote from our waitress 'I consider it a PRIVILIGE to work here'
Review 59:No guaranteed parking for residents. Can be a problem at busy times.
Review 60:Excellent location, friendly and helpful staff and comfortable room. Very good restaurant.
Review 61:I thought maybe you could of been able to get a drink from the bar after hours to add to room service.
Review 62:The room was amazing as was the evening meal and breakfast , the staff were friendly and attentive .
Review 63:Considerable wait for main course at evening meal but to be fair restaurant was extremely busy
Review 64:Friendly and helpful staff Good parking facilities on site
Review 65:price is on the higher side, but not too bad. bathroom is very small, so bear this in mind.
Review 66:Staff was very friendly and helpful. Area is beautiful and the hotel is very cute with only 19 rooms. Breakfast was great, all products sourced locally.
Review 67:The brealfastcould have been better, the black pudding was horrid ( and I like b/p) fry'd eggs not very good at all,and my wife stated the muesli was not very good. also only one member of staff covering all area's
Review 68:The room was very good aII though you have to get out of bed to switch the bed side light out, the bed was comfy over AII, I liked the fact they gave you bottled water in the room because the tap water tasted disgusting but thats not the hotels fault.
Review 69:The wifi needed logging into each time you used it. Not a massive problem but meant you couldn't quickly get on line to check maps/transport etc. But once connected, it was quick.
Review 70:Super friendly staff, lovely big room and great breakfast in the morning. Couldn't have asked for more. Would definitely stay here again.
Review 71:The room was a bit tired looking & a very small bathroom.
Review 72:Good location, very friendly & helpful staff, great food. Would definitely recommend the restaurant.
Review 73:the picture of the building does not show the building which is a fake old . Beds were good but furniture and bathroom were cheap. Bathroom was almost too small for one person, two persons could not be in it.
Review 74:breakfast - excellent! Staff very professional and very friendly.
Review 75:Bathroom was 'tired'
Review 76:Staff were welcoming and attentive, they even managed to find us a table when the restaurant was fully booked. Food was amazing and cooked to perfection, you could make you're own twist with the 'full English'. Room was comfortable and enjoyed the complimentary biscuits.
Review 77:Everything but the staff. The room needs a good clean and could do with a refresh. Mainly the biggest issue was the food, it may well be good ingredients but the chef was so bad you couldn't tell the quality of the food, probably some of the worst food I've eaten
Review 78:The staff were absolutely lovely, so warm and accommodating and you got the impression they couldn't do enough for you. Friendly without being over the top.
Review 79:I had to have the window open so it was noisy as I live in the countryside the bed was comfortable but I have a bad neck so I found that I was uncomfortable with the pillows
Review 80:Very helpful staff and excellent full English breakfast
Review 81:Lack of lounge facilities Long wait for one evening meal, rather than being stuck at a table, we could have had a appetite enhancing walk. OR sought the comfort of a lounge and a drink.
Review 82:Staff care and friendliness
Review 83:Unfortunately we were woken during the night with what appeared to be a rat constantly scrambling across the roof eaves!
Review 84:The room booked was the family room which was amazing, facilities were excellent.
Review 85:Athough we were perfectly happy, some people might find the bathroom a little bit small.
Review 86:The staff were very friendly, without being over the top. Great sized bedrooms. Ample parking and so close to the centre of Tetbury. Loved the exra touches like the 'What did you forget' bathroom bag and gorgeous biscuits,
Review 87:Wifi (needed to log in every time)
Review 88:Location to the city, Cotsworld area. Price (Half inclusive price) Family room is spacious Service from friendly staff
Review 89:From our arrival, nothing was too much trouble for the friendly, smiling staff. We were visiting Tetbury with friends and had rooms 2 and 3 on the ground floor facing the car park.. I was expecting a standard double but was pleasantly surprised to see a King sized bed. The room was a good size - nice to have complimentary bottles of water with the usual kettle and tea/coffee accompaniments. Despite being by the car park, it was quiet and I understand that the blinds are about to be improved with better black out. The bathroom was small but anything you may have forgotten was provided and the towels were huge! We ate dinner in the restaurant and were very impressed by the food, fabulous pizzas and melt in the mouth steaks were enjoyed by our party! Breakfast was equally of a high standard We did not realize that the traditional Woolsack races were on during our visit and thoroughly enjoyed the carnival like atmosphere in the village! A very enjoyable stay! Thank you Priory Inn for making us welcome. We will be recommending you to our friends and look forward to a return visit!
Review 90:Groundfloor bedroom overlooked car park. Staff who keep saying "no problem" Decor needs updating.
Review 91:Easy access with good parking. Good sized bedroom and bathroom. Comfortable bed. Friendly and quick staff. Nice breakfast. Probably reasonable price for Gloucestershire.
Review 92:Staff were superb. A great welcome on reception and well trained staff in the restaurant. The rooms are a little tired but the staff and the quality of the food make up for the minor points of decoration in the rooms. Nice area outside in good weather, food, both dinner and breakfast were excellent. Good car park in the centre of Tetbury.
Review 93:Room needed a fresh lick of paint, furniture change. Bed was 2 twins put together but they didn't meet properly! Bathroom was poor, especially the bath...not up to standard
Review 94:Friendly staff. Food was fair to good.
Review 95:Room prices vary depending of day of the week. Thursday was highest and we left early on Friday without breakfast. Asked for wakeup call early Friday to catch our ride to Bristol airport. The call never happened.
Review 96:The restaurant is excellent. Highly recommended because of variety, presentation, quality and value. Rooms are clean and comfortable. No a/c however.
Review 97:The breakfasts were great and everyone was very helpful and went out of their way to provide whatever we needed. We had dinner there two nights and both evenings the food was fantastic.
Review 98:Not a bad experience , just expected a little bit more for the money. Larger TV , light switches you could reach in bed . Toilet area was small. Showers need updating
Review 99:Staff were excellent, really thoughtful and cared
Review 100:Nothing to criticise even though some of the furniture looked a bit 'tired'. This became an inconsequential detail when the overall positive experience is considered.
Review 101:- friendly staff [but not gushing] - great range of locally ingredients prepared and cooked very well indeed - relaxed but efficient service creating an ideal comfortable stay
Review 102:Great location. Great hotel. Excellent facilities. Brilliant staff. Eco friendly with the use of faith in nature toiletries. Food also amazing with locally sourced ingredients.
Review 103:Nothing.
Review 104:The staff are excellent especially Machalie & Becky also the two lads who run the bar late in the evening. If you want a relaxing time this is the place to go.
Review 105:Nothing... UHT cartons in bedrooms but when we asked for fresh milk that was gladly provided along with a description of where the milk was from. Superb attention to detail and im really trying to find a negative there !!
Review 106:Everything, couldn't fault a thing. Don't hesitate to book you wont regret it. Food miles story is great and shows the people behind this place really love it ... they should be very proud.
Review 107:No bad experience, but the quality of the wines by the glass could be improved.
Review 108:Terrific value for money, unpretentious, comfortable, welcoming, warmth of all the staff, food which genuinely lived up to it's 30 mile radius for ingredients leader, good coffee(even decaffeinated),homemade bread, huge open fire. What traveller could want for more? A steal for the price.
Review 109:Restaurant experience is like eating restaurant priced food in a chain pub aimed at kids. It was chaos. Wouldn't have reasonably expected to eat a meal with friends on a Friday evening and have groups of kids screaming and charging round the place beyond 9.15. Most disappointing and spoiled the stay and the night.
Review 110:Parking. Location
Review 111:We wanted a nice night away on our own, dbb rate was excellent value for money. The room was big enough, simple and clean decor. The staff are wonderful, really friendly and professional. Food was delicious, both evening meal and breakfast.
Review 112:Nothing really would definitely recommend to friends but would ask for a non-adjoining room next time.
Review 113:Staff were excellent, clean accommodation, great bar and food. We particularly like the way in which the managers support local businesses and suppliers!
Review 114:The family room was great, and really well thought out so you can close the doors and put the children to sleep without worrying. Breakfast was really good as well.
Review 115:The bathroom was in need of some decoration - a bit tired.
Review 116:The staff were excellent and very knowledgeable about the area. The food was really good - real pizza's cooked in their own pizza oven with generous toppings. Locally sourced food and drink was really tasty - especially the Cotswolds Brewery lager !!!
Review 117:Pizza. Chef trying too hard to be different. Nothing for the traditionalist pizza connoisseur. Base good but not enough tomato sauce or mozzarella. Weird topping combos.
Review 118:Location, free parking, comfort. cleanliness, helpful staff
Review 119:Problem with lack of hot water for shower, known to management.
Review 120:Cheerful staff good and plentiful food great local beers, easy check out, good close to reception parking, only a short walk from town centre.
Review 121:For the price, I can't fault anything, although our bathroom could've done with a bit of modernisation. I'm just being picky though!
Review 122:Just a great hotel. Would recommend it for the restaurant alone! The food is excellent and the staff are genuinely happy to help. The room we stayed in was comfortable with a few homely touches. Perfect location for exploring local attractions such as Westonbirt Arboretum- just ten minutes down the road. Outstanding value for money.
Review 123:Staff very friendly and available (we arrived for breakfast 5 minutes before closing and the staff was still offering cooked food and other stuff way after the time). Amazing bed and clean bathroom. Nice bar/restaurant. 5 minute drive to Westonbirt Arboretum
Review 124:Cooked breakfast was good but the breakfast buffet let it down.
Review 125:We have visited several times and The Priory is consistently good. Excellent staff, always cheerful, helpful and engaging. Plenty of free on site parking. Good location. Nice atmosphere in bar and good locally sourced food.
Review 126:Nothing
Review 127:Very helpful staff, specially Becky who went above the call of duty. Lovely bedrooms with little extras such as a bottle of spring water each night per person plus really tasty biscuits - yummy! Food in restaurant very good and locally sourced. We took the half board option and weren't restricted at all and could choose from the A La Carte menu. Very good value. Will visit again and thoroughly recommend this hotel.
Review 128:The man on the desk give me two cards, one to open the door of the room 13 that did't work. I had to go down stairs to get another card. The second card was for the internet, that didn'twork so had to go down stairs to get another one. Good start.
Review 129:The welcome and customer service was first class and the food at dinner and breakfast well presented and served with professionalism Will return again Thank you
Review 130:Do not be put off by the picture of the hotel on booking.com, as this is definitely not a picture of the priory inn. Tetbury.
Review 131:We enjoyed everything about this hotel, the food was of a very high standard with a large selection, the room was very comfortable, the staff were excellent in all departments, nothing was to much trouble, the location was perfect for our visit to Westonbirt Arboretum, We would thoroughly recommend that you give this hotel a visit.
