Reviews for Lantern House

Review 1:Nothing !

Review 2:Warm welcome , large clean room with own separate bathroom. Extremely comfortable bed and close too main part of town. Excellent breakfast and all for £65...100% would stay again if in the area.

Review 3:not much, had a good stay, parking was a bit hit and miss, but we managed to park OK.

Review 4:made to feel welcome, breakfast was good, Pauline & Geoff made you welcome, very helpful.

Review 5:The breakfast really let us down, it was quite greasy, no option of how to have the egg. Had thought that as they were chipolatas not sausages they would be really special, but they weren't. Would've liked to have known it was locally sourced really good quality produce but unfortunately it tasted poor quality.

Review 6:Room was lovely, very clean and comfortable.

Review 7:The host and hostess were extremely friendly and made us feel welcome. The location is a 5 min walk to the city center. Loved the room and its decor. The house overall looked really beautiful, especially the garden area.

Review 8:Friendly and comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble. Compensated for the quite awful weather. Thanks to you both, I am sure we will see you again.

Review 9:We were incredibly happy to have stayed at this lovely B&B. With such fantastically nice hosts you feel welcome from the very first moment the door is opened. Right next to a beautiful park, close to the city center, it's the best accomodation imaginable and we sure know where to go when we return to Dorset.

Review 10:The Lantern ticks all of the key boxes: central location, comfortable accommodation and a varied breakfast menu all provided by friendly, helpful and good humoured hosts. An en-suite bathroom would have meant a 10.0 score!

Review 11:Parking was limited to just two spaces and we actually damaged the skirt of our car whilst parking due to the slope of the drive

Review 12:We had a lovely room with extra seating and large window. The bed was one of the most comfortable we have slept in - real home from home! Easy walking distance to the town.

Review 13:It met all criteria for an excellently run B & B: excellent hosts, clean room and delicious breakfast. What impressed me was the care that had gone into the room decoration, the info on local sights and the friendliness of all the staff.

Review 14:Spacious high quality room, generous tea facilities, lovely hosts. Lovely homemade fresh bread daily. Hosts put themselves out to accomodate parking for guests

Review 15:Good location, free car parking, nice garden to sit in and chill. Excellent breakfast, friendly reception, made to feel comfortable, would recommend to friends, and willing to return.

Review 16:We were made very welcome on arrival. Lantern House is convenient for shops and restaurants in the centre of Dorchester. Our room was comfortable with everything we needed together with an excellent breakfast in the morning.

Review 17:Dorchester disappointing. Museum poor, archaeology closed. Displays poor. Roman amphitheatre information board covered in graffiti.

Review 18:Guest house fine, walk in to town. Good breakfast. Bathroom separate from room down corridor. Friendly hosts.

Review 19:Limited parking area at rear of house but we were provided with temporary resident on-road parking so not really a problem.

Review 20:The two pianos! Excellent breakfast and plenty of useful suggestions for local trips.

Review 21:The property is on a main road so a little noisy at night - but our room was at the front and I doubt this would be an issue if you were in one of the other rooms.

Review 22:Very comfortable bed and good sized room with generous Tea and Coffee available. Varied and generous breakfast. Pauline and Geoff welcoming and friendly. Didn't use the Wi-Fi so can't comment on this

Review 23:Nothing.

Review 24:General facilities such as wifi, TV, tea and coffee were very good. The comfort of the bed was excellent. The area was quiet despite being in the heart of Dorchester.

Review 30:Really enjoyed our stay here. The owners make you really welcome from the start. The room was very clean and comfortable, it had a tv and tea coffee making facilities and never a problem with the wifi. Breakfast was great and the homemade bread was fantastic. Review 32:Parking is tight but not impossible. Shower flow is ok but not fantastic.

Review 33:The room was comfortable, warm (too warm first night, but we figured out how to turn heat down) and the location was quiet. Good wi-fi, lovely breakfast room, nothing was too much trouble for the hosts. Tip: Do book a superior double room if you can : they are worth the few extra pounds. I Would gladly stay here again.

Review 34:Lovely couple made us feel very welcome...plenty of advise on where to go for all our needs...room was great it even had an extra sitting room, clean and tidy , warm with lots of extras...highly recommend ...

Review 35:The owners of the home were very warm and hospitable. They gave great attention to my daughter and me as we toured Dorchester in research of our Puritan forefathers who left to the new America in 1630. We were most impressed with the Lantern House and would recommend to anyone for a nice comfortable stay. The breakfast was delicious!

Review 36:Could not find fault.

Review 44:Having to leave!

Review 45:Great location, despite what appears to be a main road into or through town... just easy for strolling into town to discover its delights. Warm and friendly welcome. Great breakfast choices. Next visit we will travel by train to chill out even sooner.

Review 46:We asked for twin room and although it was very nice the private bathroom was outside the room and down a hall way, I think it would have been nice if it had been mentioned at time of booking. The double rooms were both ensuite.
