Review 1：No air conditioning; it was impossible to keep out light, since the shutter only closed off only 70% of the window & there were no curtains. Towels and toiletries were poor quality. Breakfast was expensive and poor, with very cheap items. Bar very poor - no ice, limited choice and poorly staffed.
Review 2：Once accessed, the pool area was very pleasant.
Review 3：I knew this would not be a very high standard so no complaints there. The staff was uninterested and not welcoming which is a necessary condition for any hotel.
Review 4：The surroundings and exterior of the hotel. In it's time probably the most upscale hotel in town but it's splendor has faded a long time ago.
Review 5：There is no wifi except next to reception. The coach tours are well looked after at the expense of solo / family travellers. We had to sit outside the restaurant for breakfast and walk through the hotel lobby, through two restaurant seating areas to get to the buffet.

Review 11：No wifi in the room Wifi in common areas where present but they ran out if IP addresses - i never got it to work even thoug they rebooted the equipment.
Review 12：everything. High quality. Gourmet restaurant with excelent service. english speaking staff. Classy Formidable rooms -all with a view. Nicely refurbished, simple elegant looking and lots of understated quality. A bit on the expensive side but, for the quality offered all arround - a god deal. For a frech spa town with +50 hotels it was very quiet and relaxing - i could have stayed there for days. ctually for a french town in genral it was remakably quiet.
Review 13：The turn-of-the-century table booking system for breakfast was a little annoying. No air conditioning during the heat wave. We would return - the positives outweigh the negatives.
Review 14：Loads of Character in a traditional Spa hotel. It had a great pool and lovely views over the town. Breakfast was fine and you could eat until you exploded. Nice to see fruit available.
Review 15：we would have liked a kettle in the room with mini fridge and please take note,, our stay coincided with a heat wave of 37 deg heat.. and due to its age and classic style the hotel has no air con..large windows and shutters to leave open, but still rather clammy
Review 16：a charming "typical" chateau style hotel , it had the appearence and feel of your favourite well used armchair,, in a good way. the pool area is lovely and hardly used .. good for us plenty of deck chairs to choose from. a beatiful area with plenty of cafes and restraunts location is very good 50 steps from the town- down hill going UP HILL COMING BACK!! we would use the hotel again but with a bigger room
Review 17：In common with many French hotels, I think the breakfast is a bitexpensive for what you get. We did without, and had coffee andcroissants at a little cafe just down the road.
Review 18：We have stayed at the Grand Hotel des Bains before, but chose it thistime because of the very competitive rate offered. Its an old hotel inthe grand style, very comfortably appointed and ideally sited in thecentre of the charming little Spa town of Vals. The best thing is theview. We had a lovely room on top floor with a marvellous view over thetrees of the Ardeche valley. There are also 2 nice swimming pools and agood restaurant with a shady terrace.
