Reviews for Elounda Mare Hotel

Review 1:We had to leave!

Review 2:Gorgeous hotel, attentive yet non intrusive staff, and access to a beautiful spa and other facilities at the big hotel up the road. Most of the time we were perfectly happy just to be on our little beach.

Review 3:Nothing

Review 4:Wonderful place, nice hotel, good service , friendly staff, tasty food, nice hotel transfer , cimpliment on arriving and departure. I recommend !

Review 5:very unprofessional and slow service, although they are trying to do a good job, it is not working. A lot of detail is in severe need of updating.

Review 6:the location and the facility itself (the buildings and the garden) are really good. Good value for money

Review 7:The mattress was quite firm, and the wifi was terrible. The majority of the guests were over 50 (to be kind), so probably a little too old for our liking.

Review 8:We stayed in a superior one bedroom suite with sea view (room 501) and the room and views were incredible. We were in the main building almost at the top, and had two huge balconies and incredible views. The staff at the front desk were nothing short of magicians in being able to organise anything we could think of at a moment's notice. The breakfast buffet was great (rice pudding AND French champagne) and dinner at the various restaurants was also good. The pool is salt water, so you can float in there for hours, and the small private beaches were equally nice to stay in the water or read a book by.

Review 9:Departure from Heraklion airport. I know it's not part of the hotel, but it's the most important reason I would hesitate to return.

Review 10:Excellent restaurants and service.

Review 11:Noise from other rooms. Twin beds instead of one double bed. Not proportionally pricy restaurants, definitely not value for money, well it is always possible to go eat at the city.

Review 12:Place is amazing, small paradise, clean, amazing private beach, very friendly staff. Great breakfast.

Review 13:I thought that the Yacht Club menu was disappointing and the options for light, snack based lunches was limited. Prices overall for food and drink felt a bit steep. The pool wasn't as warm as I would have expected.

Review 14:The staff couldn't have been friendlier, or more willing to please. They were what made the place. The hotel was blissfully peaceful and the Six Senses Spa at neighbouring Elounda Peninsula was very good. Our meals at both The Old Mill and Koh, were top quality.

Review 15:The sausages for breakfast

Review 16:The facilities and staff are outstanding

Review 17:Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Food was excellent. All in all a first class hotel worthy of its Relais & Chateaux membership.

Review 18:overpriced, amateurish staff, outdated interior design, facilities on different sites

Review 19:location, cleanliness, size of room, gorgeous outdoor areas

Review 20:Air condition in bedrooms

Review 21:welcoming staff

Review 22:We stayed the week before Easter - On arrival the reservations team had mixed up our booking and was for single use only so we incurred an extra charge of over €300 for our five night stay. The staff were awkward about it and we were left waiting for an hour before moving to another room. Most of the facilities were closed out by the private beach, no bar or restaurant. It felt as though they were waiting for peak season to arrive to open everything up. The restaurant in the main hotel was extortionate and not that good. It felt that you were hostage to their expensive food and wine because there was no where else to go. €6 for a bottle of beer and €11 for their cheapest glass of wine! Hotel is advertised as having 7 restaurants - these are spread through the three elounda hotels and so not easily accessible. Often, the other restaurants within elounda mare just weren't open. There were a lot of families with children running up and down the hotel corridors which wasn't the tone we had wanted.

Review 23:The rooms were very comfortable, robes and slippers were a nice extra. Lovely views from the balcony. The isolated pairs of loungers by the rocky sea front were nice and secluded. The restaurant, the old mill, was superb on our last night.

Review 24:Elounda Mare is perfection. We absolutely love this place and will definitely be back. Our room had beautiful views and was very spacious and very clean. The staff are so welcoming and friendly. After travelling all day we arrived quite late so the complimentary glass of champagne was very much appreciated as was the fruit basket in our room. The staff always go out of their way to help you and make sure your stay is enjoyable. There is nothing I can fault about this place and we are hoping to return with friends and family again in the future.

Review 25:View, swimming from rocks. Friendly staff

Review 26:Room 35 has a serious drain odour problem Rest of the hotel is very nice but everything is too expensive.....lots of moaning guests.

Review 27:The hotel is very comfortable, nicely fits those guests who want quiet relaxed rest. Staff is very friendly and helpful, breakfast is very good. For dinner there are three restaurants in the hotel and two in the nearby hotels of the same chain (with high cuisine) easily accessible by free shuttle-car. The territory is big enough and quite green. We lived in the bungalo with a private pool. The area of bungalos reminds an old grecian small town with a chapel and a couple of shops. The main street brings you directly to the beach. The beach is sandy. Not many stair steps to reach it. Bathrooms in bongalos are very comfortable. There mas a DVD player and a home cinema system in the room. Anti-moskitos net on the window-door. Every day a service-man came to clean the private heated pool with sea-water.

Review 28:The value for money at the restaurant

Review 29:The facilities and the building style

Review 30:nothing

Review 31:everything
