Reviews for Meadowdore Cafe B&B
Review 1:Leaving Coniston
Review 2:Apart from the superb location, the main thing was how friendly and helpful the owner and staff were. The room was simple but comfy and great for a short break. Super cafe breakfast too.... and very flexible to my daughter's odd choice for breakfast from the lunch menu!!
Review 3:Clean,and friendy. A good choice of places to eat and a lot of good walks from the B&B. Much quiter than the other side of the lakes where we normally go, and free toilets
Review 4:No negative experience at all
Review 5:The staff were lovely and the cafe attached to the establishment was excellent. We were made to feel extremely welcome and would certainly return.
Review 6:Was advertised on booking.com as available parking but this was limited, indeed throughout our stay there was no space available !
Review 7:The location, breakfast, staff.
Review 8:the only negative i had is the bed was rather hard for my back but would not let this stop me from returning in the future..
Review 9:lovely location.. close to all amenities.very friendly staff and lovely food at the cafe which is very reasonably priced.lovely decorated rooms and will return here in the future..:)
Review 10:The bed was AMAZINGLY comfy!! After a long walk up Scafell Pike the bed was needed. The breakfast was excellent quality and good portions. Staff are friendly and very welcoming. Will definitely stay again.
Review 11:Very friendly welcome and the room was really lovely with everything we needed. Also we were given really helpful local information for our time in coniston. I would highly recommend and will use Meadowdore again!
Review 12:The only downside was although we could get wifi on my laptop the signal wasn't strong enough to stream and you couldn't really pick it up on my iPhone. Although you could in the restaurant.
Review 13:From the minute we arrived all the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean, warm and very comfortable with good quality furnishings and all the linen/towels were lovely and fluffy. Shower was good with plenty of hot water whatever time of day or night. The breakfasts were really good quality and served to your liking. We would definitely stay here again.
Review 14:A beautifully decorated bedroom with enough space for 3 people to move around in easily. Very easy to find in Coniston with close proximity to the Lake.
Review 15:Bathroom did not have hooks to hang wash bags or clothes and it was a bit close to the actual bed so not much privacy.
Review 16:Staff were lovely and breakfast was very well cooked and offered lots of variety.
Review 17:Advertised as Free parking is possible on site (reservation not needed). That to us meant there was somwhere for us to park the car. There was a place next to the caffee that had 2 cars on , both of which where staf cars ,they were parked at the front of the space with no room for any other cars, it would be possable to park a third car if the first 2 cars were parked nearer the biulding but that 3rd car would then block one of the other 2 cars in. We had 4 rooms next to us , we dont know if there are anymore available. Without the staff cars you would not fit 4 cars on this space. On arrival we could not see were we would park, my husband stayed in the car I went in and spoke to a staff member taking ordres for food, and asked her were do we park please, she said down the lane , I had my booking form and quoted the guest parking policy, she said we would have to speak to the boss, there were no available spaces in the lane. The boss told us to park down the lane as she would not be gone untill 7pm she was very unhelpful. We only book B&B,s and hotels that have private onsite parking as my husband is registered disabled,we informed them in the special request at time of booking that he is dissabled. We would not have booked this accommodation had they not advertised onsite parking, We hope they will remove the guest parking listed as above from their hotel policy in all future advertising , this is a staff car park for 2 cars We were missled
Review 18:One of the best tea tray we have ever had , bigest selecton and plenty of everything. The lady who took us to our room was lovely and pleasent with us when we checked out eventhough we told here we would be complaing to yourselves about the missleading car park advertisement. The location is perfect . Breakfast was good
Review 19:WiFi was a bit intermittent in our room even for basic web access. Other than the bedroom there was no lounge or communal area other than the Café which was not open in the evening.
Review 20:Location in the middle of Coniston was great. Good to have easy access to the Café as part of the facility during the day.
Review 21:The only, minor issue was that our notification of our late arrival wasn't acknowleged and access to the accommodation confirmed until the day of arrival.
Review 22:Great place for a couple of days in the Lakes. Wonderful breakfast and a quiet, comfortable stay.
Review 23:We have not a bad word to say about our experience. 10 out of 10!
Review 24:From the moment we arrived, the staff were very welcoming. Our room was very clean and the bed very comfortable. The breakfasts were excellent and set us up for the day. We will definitely be returning.
Review 25:the wi-fi signal was very weak in our room and mainly not usable but the signal was strong in the cafe downstairs.
Review 26:all of the above - this was an excellent B&B
Review 27:We didn't have any hanging space however I now realise having not worn any of the 'night time' clothes that probably all people who stay in this village are walkers. Also despite notices and being advised to close the downstairs door, we found it left unlocked a couple of times.
Review 28:Location, we had an extra bed in our room so we could place our clothes there. Although right outside our window was the B+B bins/log store and another building the view of the hills was fab. Café food and open fire brilliant.
Review 29:Bedroom was overlooked, perhaps some blinds could be put in? Expensive to stay, but that is expected in the area.
Review 30:Really nice host - great breakfast range and really nice staff. In a good location for walking etc.
Review 31:Water pressure not brilliant to shower, but was an electric shower which aren't great at the best of times. Just an observation, no fault of the B&B's
Review 32:Off road parking space for 2-3 cars, friendly staff, great breakfast!
Review 33:The only complaint would be one with the booking system. We booked here for two nights but the Medowdore had us down for 3 nights. They were also going to charge us this years rates instead of the rate we were confirmed. However, the lady there have us what we confirmed so it was all fine in the end.
Review 34:The staff were all lovely and would try and make your stay as nice as possible. The beds were extremely comfy and the rooms were a suitable size. Very good.
Review 35:nothing at all.
Review 36:As the b&b was having work carried out we were up graded to a three bed cottage just over the road, and it was superb. The breakfast in the café was excellent and the staff very good.could not ask for any better.
Review 37:Most comfortable king size bed in family room with single bed in cosy alcove. Ideal location for lake, walks, restaurants/pubs, museum and shops. Breakfast as late as you choose!
Review 38:From the first contact until the last, we were treated so well. Was so surprised at the pristine condition of the accomodation. The breakfast was great, very warm room with ensuite.
Review 39:The room smelt strongly of paint, the wifi had poor coverage upstairs, and the staff hadn't made any provision for a guest who wasn't able to tolerate wheat or lactose (although they had been informed in advance) meaning poor breakfast choice for said guest. This added to a general lack of smiles and friendly rapport made for a downbeat experience.
Review 40:The location is lovely- great for running/walking/cycling, particularly if you don't want the bustle of a town.
Review 41:That we had to go home
Review 42:We loved our stay, the location, friendliness and accessibility exceeded all our expectations and we have booked a return trip for three weeks time!
Review 43:The staff were really welcoming and on hand for whatever you need. The location was great. The breakfast was great and hard to resist. The room was comfortable. Would definitely go back.
Review 44:Wifi a bit unpredictable. Breakfast not available till 9am.
Review 45:Owner very friendly and helpful - nothing was too much trouble. Excellent location within Coniston which is a great centre for touring and walking. Plenty of good food and drink options very close by. We have used the Meadowdore Cafe many times before as a cafe (very good food and a good place to stock up on food for walking) but never stayed before. Clean with very comfortable beds. Will stay again.
Review 46:Wifi dodgy but we weren't here to waste time on the internet, so not really a problem!
Review 47:Friendly staff, plenty of breakfast (from 9am) and a comfy room - really lovely shower.
Review 48:Very small rooms and extremely small bathroom. Had to pay extra to have a larger breakfast which was a bit of a swizz!!! Have stayed in other B&Bs at the same price and got a much better deal.
Review 49:Location was great and the staff are very friendly.
Review 50:Nothing.
Review 51:Every one very friendly. They go the extra for you e.g., drying soggy walking boots. Making up salads for us to have later. Food was very good value, all prepared freshly. Good range. Lovely sunny logo. Nice comfy bed.
Review 52:Staff were exceptionally kind - arrived early and needed to get ready for wedding and they let us have the cottage for a couple of hours. Village is lovely and B&B is right in the middle of it, only couple of min walk from the lake. Lovely rooms

Review 112:Stayed for 2 nights over the weekend whilst climbing Coniston Old Man with a group of friends. Meadowdore is in convenient central location for the village and all it's amenities. Staff were extremely friendly and accommodating and made a packed lunch in lieu of a cooked breakfast on the day of our climb. Would definitely recommend and return
