Review 2:Definitely will be returning to this Hotel, The Rooms are larger than the normal hotel room and the bed is so comfortable, great nights sleep, better than my own bed.
Review 3:Badly needed decorating, both the walls and paintwork in bedroom and bathroom. Not so friendly service at breakfast would say indifferent. Breakfast not much choice. On a road so some road noise and unfortunately for us, noisy neighbours- not hotels fault though what sort of people stay there.
Review 4:Decent sized room and bathroom, friendly welcome, comfy bed, breakfast nicely presented
Review 5:The gentleman upfront was a bit rude to my husband when he asked him if he was being nosey when he was looking for the bar.
Review 6:Location was fine, but GPS is off a bit.
Review 7:Nothing
Review 8:Good price and basic accommodation close to where I needed to be. The very friendly staff and a great breakfast more than made up for the basic facilities
Review 9:The rooms and general decor of the place could do with a spruce up / lick of paint and the heating system meant it was either blazing hot in the room or freezing cold if you had it turned off. But really the lovely staff make up for all of these things!
Review 10:The staff were absolutely wonderful so friendly and accommodating - had super tasty scrambled eggs and bacon for breakfast and an enjoyable evening meal.
Review 11:Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. They ensured our rooms were ready for early check in and arranged a last minute taxi for us. The room was spotless and very comfortable.
Review 12:great location brill food very friendly staff made to feel welcome nothing wrong with anythingfree j20swill be going back next year if i can for picking show value for money will tell my friends
Review 13:Hairdryer is situated in awkward place over the kettle. Mirror on inside of wardrobe and the door of wardrobe does not open enough to look in the mirror.
Review 14:Hotel was easily assessable. Staff very helpful. Great hot breakfast.
Review 15:Couldn't hardly sleep because of the traffic, we went for a relaxing stay and couldn't even enjoy it as the residents and staff we're really rude. They were snobby and looked down on us as we were a young couple. I was discusted with the we were treated and would never stay there again I will be writing a formal complaint about my stay. I don't think we should be treated differently just because of the way we look or dress that's the way the staff made us feel. We was treated unfairly.
Review 16:The bed was okay but wasn't perfect!
Review 17:There was nothing not to like. Everything was ok and nothing was too much trouble.
Review 18:Friendliness and efficiency of the staff, central location and cleanliness.
Review 19:Even though it felt like we were in the middle of nowhere, our stay was fantastic. The staff were lovely and very helpful and we were made to feel very welcome. The food was gorgeous and I would definitely recommend them to anyone.
Review 20:Our room was a little tired. The curtain hems were falling down, there were marks on the walls and the carpet was in need of a good clean. Generally the hotel is in need of decorating.
Review 21:Our evening meal was very, very good. The good was excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Review 22:The clear bathroom window straight into the car park was slightly intrusive.
Review 23:Really friendly staff who helped with any questions. The locality and closeness to flamingo land was perfect to get to the park before the queues built up. Very comfortable ambience for a few drinks. Ample parking spaces.
Review 24:Room was clean and adequate but a bit tired looking. Had to drop the blinds as room looked straight out onto car park so not very private - could have done with some louvre blinds so that we didn't need to shut the daylight out but still retained privacy.
Review 25:Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very tasty and well presented. Staff were efficient and organised.
Review 26:Fabric headboard was full of dust....had to clean it off..couldn't sleep in bed with it on there.windows old and wood was rotting. Bad smell of cooking oil in reception.
Review 27:The staff are very nice, the breakfast was good but cheap sausages.
Review 28:No bad experience other than the A64 which the hotel cannot control; indeed its location helps me to avoid some of the A64.
Review 29:I had two dinners and two breakfasts and the quality of all the meals was excellent. The service throughout was positive , helpful and cheerful.
Review 30:It looked like the room had been undergoing some redecorating and parts of it weren't finished ie not painted where walls had been filled or sockets put in. The bathroom blind needed replacing too. The positives far out way the negatives. We will go back again!!!!!!
Review 31:We thought the room might smell of previous pets, however we were delighted to find it didn't at all. The staff were lovely and the price was fantastic.
Review 32:Does need an update garden and appearance poor Needs a paint in and out !
Review 33:Staff lovely bed comfy real cosy feel ! Very welcoming Breakfast lovely
Review 34:Could do with a good lick of paint as it was looking a little tired. Walls had black scuff marks etc.
Review 35:Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was comfortable and had all amenities needed. Location was good although on a busy road so was a little noisy. Breakfast choice good and very tasty.
Review 36:Single room, very basic for price paid, would not stay for more than one night, fat/oil smell when entering reception area, rather off putting, causing us to eat elsewhere in the evening which was unfortunate, given the standard of the breakfast which was fantastic.
Review 37:Breakfast, one of the best ever had anywhere, young woman very pleasant and helpful. Double room very good value, very comfortable. Wifi excellent, bed and bedding very clean and comfortable.
Review 38:Absolutely fantastic staff! Rooms were lovely! The breakfast was very tasty. Only 5minutes away from flamingo land. Couldn't have found a better hotel! Thank you very much!
Review 39:We stayed here the night before a day at Flamingo Land which is just a mile or so down the road. Really excellent place to stay. We would definitely go back there. Staff couldn't do enough for you. The rooms were large and the beds huge!
Review 40:Room comfortable. Both our dog and us made welcome. In fact, our dog was allowed in bar area where we had a meal. Plenty of parking. Not over-priced.
Review 41:Fantastic stay at the Beansheaf staff were friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. Food was good and breakfast excellent. Would recommend and definately stay again.
Review 42:Minor maintenance issues; soap holder in bathroom empty and shower light not working.
Review 43:A quiet hotel Staff were welcoming and helpful. Excellent, well presented food. Room was comfortable and very quiet even though the hotel was situated on the main Malton to Pickering road.
Review 44:Excellent for flamingoland or castle Howard, staff lovely and helpful and rooms clean and comfortable with good free wifi everywhere. Excellent home cooked food.
Review 45:The room was a bit basic but it was worth what we paid.
Review 46:The staff were really friendly and helpful, also the other guests were nice. This really made it a nice place to stay. We didn't experience the food but it looked really nice!
Review 47:I think the only negative comment I would make concerns the tray with tea and coffee making facilities. On this tray along with the usual biscuits etc. were 2 J2Os. My sister in law and brother in law who were with us were charged for these when she settled the bill and got the impression these were charged for whether consumed or not. Perhaps this should be made clear at time of booking. Apart from that a very pleasant stay.
Review 48:Very comfortable hotel. We arrived just after 8.10pm and they stopped serving food at 8.00. However they kept the kitchen open and served up a very good 3-course meal plus coffee with cheerful efficiency and good humour. Breakfast very good. We had a deluxe room which was a good size. Plenty of parking space. Very reasonably priced. Would stay again.
Review 49:Nice little bar, friendly staff, good breakfast nice and hot, clean room also on a main road but very little traffic noise. Also in a very pleasant surroundings at the back of hotel.Would stop there again on next visit to Pickering Many thanks to all staff
Review 50:Slightly out of town.
Review 51:Friendly staff Excellent breakfast Very clean and tidy Great service Close to Dalby Forrest and other activities. Excellent tea!! :-)
Review 52:Bedroom needed painting, lots of scratches on the walls and a few bits of furniture needed replacing but otherwise comfortable enough.
Review 53:Lovely, friendly staff and great food.
Review 54:Room we had was next to stairs and a bit noisy, when people left at 0540hrs, on the 2 mornings we were there.
Review 55:Friendliness of all staff, good selection on menu and well presented. Good location, hence return visit.
Review 56:Staff are absolutely amazing and will go above and beyond for their guests, we have been twice now and the atmosphere is fun, friendly and very inviting. The food is gorgeous and tailored to what you want. The staff have a great sense of humour and genuinely seem to care. We live 20 miles away and this is our little retreat, cannot fault it.
Review 57:Smell of dirty cooking oil as I walked into the reception, room smelt of stagnant water, food was average.
Review 58:Leaving Staff were friendly and the wifi worked well
Review 59:Décor a little tired in places - but no where near bad enough to spoil the stay.
Review 60:Quality of food - Superb. Staff couldn't do enough for you. 2nd visit, will definitely be back.
Review 61:The queueing traffic on the main road, waiting to get through the temporary traffic lights, but that isn't the hotel's business, is it? (I had to put something in this box!)
Review 62:Besides the categories above (all of which have been given top ratings by the two of us), we found that the room was light and airy and the WiFi in good working order, despite being told that we may have had to plug in to get a good reception. For the money, in England in 2014, unlikely to be bettered. Staff most friendly and welcoming, as you'd expect from a family-run business. (I knew I was doing the right thing in avoiding a chain hotel!)
Review 63:The state of the building outside and the car park spelled neglect. Breakfast was barely adequate compared to other hotels in the same price bracket. Powder coffee for eg.
Review 64:Not a lot.
Review 65:Sadly, a group of girls had booked rooms on the Friday night we stayed and used one to have a late night party, which went on until the early hours. As there are no staff on overnight, there was nobody to get them to quieten down and it spoilt our sleep.
Review 66:Good location for Pickering and entry to North Yorks Moors National Park. Nice rooms and restaurant. Good parking. Staff very friendly.
Review 67:Only downside was lack of mobile signal - which of course was not the hotels fault.
Review 68:Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Food was good.bed was so comfy with good quality bedding and because both of our rooms were at the back of the hotel it was so quiet we both said we had slept like a log!
Review 69:Small amount of road noise in the morning. Our room did face the main road. Cannot fault the hotel for this. We would stay here again.
Review 70:Very clean comfortable and helpful staff. Location to pickering excellent. If using Taxis book early.
Review 71:Parts of hotel could do with re-decoration.
Review 72:Large car park, friendly staff, well presented and nice food, room well presented and en suite had outside window so no need for that annoying internal fan. Most important the large bed was comfortable giving one a refreshing nights sleep.
Review 73:Outside could do with a good clean up and windows painted. very noisy in room even at the back as it is on a busy road and could hear traffic all the time. rooms need updating - bathroom only had one shelf which was above the toilet and was tilted so couldn't put anything on there and no where else to stand toiletries. bed was very big but was two mattresses put together. Bar area was very small not much privacy when having a drink in there. Although an enjoyable stay if I went back I would stay at the black bull further along the road - much bigger premises.
Review 74:staff were very attentive and friendly hotel always smelt very clean. nice garden area with seating outside ample parking area
Review 75:There was nothing to dislike.
Review 76:The staff where friendly and nothing was to mush bother. The food was really good. (We had an evening meal and breakfast) We will stay there again when we are next that way.
Review 77:Room at front of hotel and a little noisy in the early morning; restaurant very quiet so lacked a bit of atmosphere, bur breakfast on second morning a bit slow, but these are quibbles, the hotel is reasonable value and a good place to stay.
Review 78:Staff very friendly, we arrived just after 8 and they stop serving in the restaurant then but got the chef to hang on; rooms well appointed and clean, lovely big bath! Breakfast well cooked, evening meal well cooked, mushrooms followed by steak just a requested. Bar area cosy. Handy for Pickering only 2 miles for more restaurant options as well as for seeing local area...
Review 79:on the first night we went down for dinner about 8 pm to be told we were to late: we were disappointed as we were told on checking in just to turn up when we were ready
Review 80:this was a good location for a couple of places on our tour of Yorkshire it also had a large car park- the staff were friendly enough
Review 81:Friendly service Excellent meal in the restaurant Good tradition breakfast without the hash browns...delicious. Good value for money for our stay and the restaurant. Good location for visiting our family in Norton
Review 82:There wasnt anything not to like
Review 83:Nice and cosy hotel. Homely bedrooms very spacious and comfortable. Location was very good for exploring Pickering and the north Yorkshire moors railway
Review 84:Menu was poor , not fresh. Service was slow and unorganised. Room had seen better days cracks in walls , average bathroom , shower trickled .
Review 85:Breakfast was good, bed was comfortable and clean
Review 86:turning right to exit - but that's not the hotel's fault!!!
Review 87:convenient for my purposes, bigcarpark, ground floor rooms and good choice for breakfast
Review 88:The hotel is on a very busy road and whilst not too noisy, it was difficult pulling in and out at times. Also they were not expecting us despite our booking a couple of weeks earlier.
Review 89:The hotel is in a good location for exploring the area. Staff friendly and breakfast lovely.
Review 90:The staff were lovely and very welcoming. My daughter and I had our evening meal and breakfast in the hotel restaurant and I could honestly say, the food was just as good if not better than some of the top hotels I have been in across the world! A+ service! Our room was perfect for us and all very clean and well decorated. Had everything you could need in it.
Review 91:Parking overcrowded needed to open second car park Breakfast menu had other options when asked for but not advertised.
Review 92:Excellent location, room well presented on entry. Comfy large bed.
Review 93:Room dusty with a slight damp fusty smell, bathroom electric towel railheld together with old sellotape! I read this on an older review andwrongly assumed they would have fixed it. Very shoddy indeed, just getit fixed! I didn't want to use this electric item in case thesellotape gave way and made it dangerous, as well as the germs no doubtstuck to the old sellotape getting on my children's towels. Not niceand a small thing like this can spoil a person's stay. There wasnowhere else to put the wet towels, so they were left lying around. Okfor a one-night stay but I wouldn't have stayed another night. Wifiwas sporadic and didn't work at all from about 9pm or the followingmorning. (No T-mobile/EE/Orange signal) All in all the roomneeded a lick of paint and some basic replacements. The toilet seat hada strange coating on it, as though it had been painted with something.Buy a new one! They are £10!
Review 94:A stone's throw from Flamingoland, well equipped family room withdouble and single bed, nice quiet location, good breakfast, deliciousevening meal, friendly staff.
Review 95:The service on reception was terrible we felt very unwelcome and found the man quite rude. Again when we checked out it was the same
Review 96:The beds were brilliant nice and big with really clean white bedding Good location Nice touch having free drinks in the room
Review 97:The mattress is probably the worst I have slept on in years - cheap rather than worn-out quality. The hotel looks a bit tired and in need of a refurb for example the towel rail is held together with sellotape! The food in the restaurant, like the hotel itself, could have been excellent with a little more effort. The medium-rare steak was well done on one side and rare the other. I guess it was forgotten, but no excuse for sending it out!
Review 98:Some nice touches for example the complimentary J2O in your room and free wifi. The bar was comfortable and welcoming.
Review 99:Overnight stop, comfortable, good breakfast.
Review 100:Mattress had shot it the whole place wants painting and updating

Review 105:Very close to very fast road so could hear traffic
Review 106:Very friendly staff, good food. Clean and warm. Tea tray in room one of best seen.
Review 107:Room could do with a re-vamp. Looked aged but comfortable
Review 108:Excellent food & service. Staff very accommodating &frendly
