Reviews for Guesthouse At Rempstone

Review 1:Shower takes a bit of time to warm up in the room I was in but I was told when I turned up so wasn't that bad but if I had been in a rush you would of had to get a cold shower

Review 2:Really friendly and helpful very welcoming

Review 3:Having a room where the main street reaches half way up the window. No shops, eating establishments within walking distance.

Review 4:Clean war with very friendly owner. Well priced for what is on offer.

Review 5:Only thing I guess is that it Wasn't as bright and sunny as the photos would lead you to believe.

Review 6:Lovely welcoming owner, convenient and great price.

Review 7:Only downside is very noisy main road location which resulted in disturbed sleep, also shower very noisy which made us conscious of disturbing other guests so didn't use as much as we would have liked.

Review 8:Room spotless, bed EXTREMELY comfortable, breakfast superb, ideal location for our needs. Host is second to none.

Review 9:Could not have asked for more for the price paid. Great little pub round the corner, comfortable warm rooms, friendly owber. Would definitely stay again of in the area.

Review 10:The shower was not forceful but still proved more than adequate unless you're an American and want to be pelted with water.

Review 11:Although a drive out of Loughborough and on a main "A" road, the room was quiet and very relaxing to sleep in. The landlady was wonderful and always greeted us with a big smile!

Review 12:Being charged for someone else's room, when we were there for a family funeral n it being a stressful time, being made short of cash made things worse, no offer of discount or free breakfast for the hassle either

Review 13:The value for money is unbeatable. The staff are extremely friendly. The room was recently refurbished; so really clean. And I had a great nights sleep thanks to the comfy bed and excellent windows.

Review 14:The only down side is that, there was no wifi and poor phone reception (not the owners fault).

Review 15:Really friendly proprietor with a lovely warm welcome. A lovely full English breakfast, well worth the money!! And a very clean establishment.

Review 16:Pretty good all round, it is sited at a crossroads , but there was not much traffic Saturday night so it wasn't a problem for me.

Review 17:Clean room with TV and wash basin, comfy bed , Friendly owner.

Review 18:Downstairs corridor seemed unloved - poorly painted doors, musty smell there and in room. Dim lighting in room. Bit disappointed, tbh. But nothing that can't be fixed.

Review 19:Friendly owner. Lovely countryside nearby.

Review 20:no wifi signal no 3/4 G And no phone SIGNAL AT ALL the car park is not very big difficult if all rooms let my bed was very incomfortable had a bar across the center most uncomfortable

Review 21:big room nice bathroom good breakfast the owner really kind and helpful

Review 22:wifi varies depending on which room you are in. parking can be a bit tight but there is room just down the road

Review 23:Trish is great always a lovely welcome, easy to get to if you are south of Nottingham ( Nottingham traffic is awful)

Review 24:Only downside was that the free WiFi didn't work because of signal issues - was showing as "out of range" - might be a problem if you need to access business emails etc.

Review 25:Just 15 minutes from Notts city centre; clean and well resourced room; lovely comfortable bed; staff very welcoming and friendly; free on-site parking

Review 26:low door entrance to room meant I left with a bleeding head! six footers beware!

Review 27:comfortable and straightforward. nice welcome good breakfast may well stay again

Review 28:The rooms are well decorated and comfortable. We were warmly welcomed by the owner. The shower gave plenty of hot water, although takes a while for the hot water to run! The building is on the main road between Loughborough and Nottingham, served by a regular bus.

Review 29:Paper thin walls ensured every squeak could be heard. Tired and old-fashioned decor. Hopeless shower (a luke-warm trickle, even after allowing it to run for 10 mins). Cheap and unappetising sausages and bacon at breakfast.

Review 30:Perfectly warm welcome.

Review 31:Nothing I can think of. The hotel at the junction of busy road but it soundproof so not really matter as it situated in idyllic location.

Review 32:I've booked a single room for 4 nights and have to use the internet for work, however, the WiFi signal was very poor. With the good gesture, I've been upgraded to a bigger room and comfier near to WiFi router without extra charge. Otherwise, I have to stay somewhere else. It save my day!

Review 33:Nothing

Review 34:Apologies for arriving late and leaving early, trish was very accommodating and thankyou for getting up early to make breakfast for us. Very much appreciated. Very little to comment negatively, just the mould around the shower base and tv screen was damaged. Highly recommended, great value for money.

Review 35:Rented three rooms - urgency of Booking.com suggested it was going to be packed - ended up (seemingly) being the only occupants. In previous conversations, we were told due to the high demand we could not down-grade the optional upgrade which booking.com suggested...there is no observable benefit to the upgrade so do not bother! Could push open the 'locked' door of one of the rooms. Every footfall in my own rattled the entire suite. The walls are incredibly thin as I could hear my companions talking across multiple corridors. I was lucky to be part of a group as my room had one mirror (little one in bathroom) and one plug socket on the far side of the room. These were all rooms with ensuites as a majority of rooms seem to share an external public W/C in the winding corridors. Unfortunately, the towels we were provided were falling apart for the shower units which had varying temperature and power (aggressive & hot to lack-lustre & tepid) across the individual rooms. Finding the rooms were a bit of a maze as they didn't seem to follow a numerical order at all (despite room numbers). A number of reviews raved about the optional breakfast - lets just say, I doubt the fry-up was locally sourced as one previous commented suggested.

Review 36:Had free wifi and when you could find the staff they were very friendly. Has tea and coffee facilities in the room. Adequate for a stop-over.

Review 37:Was quite noisy being near the wooden stairs with other guests. Wifi was weak and couldn't pick it up most of the stay. Beds squeak when you move. Tv sound would go to silent every couple of mins so would rather it actually wasn't there!

Review 38:Was very convenient and comfortable. Manager was extremely helpful and assisted us with taxis and places to eat etc. Breakfast was delicious. Room was very clean and good value for money!

Review 39:Only one bedside lamp for a double. Horribly uncomfortable beds with a lumpy uneven duvet. Consequently not a good nights sleep. Thin curtains did not screen the street lights at night.. Slightly musty old carpet smell and over use of some sort of freshener. No hanging rails for towels or hooks for clothes in bathroom. No shelves either. The bathroom looked tatty Television that could not aquire a picture no matter how many buttons on remote were pressed. The whole place had the feel of student or hostel accommodation and needs a major refurb to bring it up to today's expected standards.

Review 40:The friendly welcome and generally smiley staff and the cooked breakfast. Linen was clean and fresh although the towels were a little bit frayed.

Review 41:Fixtures and fittings a bit dated. Extractor fan in bathroom didn't work. I reported it. Location on major junction at traffic lights could be a problem if windows were open. I had to keep them shut.

Review 42:Rempstone is near to a party I was going to. The Guesthouse was homely and reasonably priced. Staff were very friendly. Could use microwave and fridge if desired. Double glazing effective. Very warm, quiet and bed very comfortable.

Review 43:Rooms could benefit with information (eg how to operate the TV and where to eat locally).

Review 44:Friendly hostess; great location; comfortable spacious rooms and delicious breakfast.

Review 45:My main criticism is that the bedroom looked so tired: stains on the carpet, curtains and cushion cover made it look dirty; the carpet was very thin and every movement made the floor boards creak. The curtains were white-ish and so thin that no early morning light was excluded. The mattress was very uncomfortable - needs to be replaced.

Review 46:The staff were very pleasant and the cooked breakfast delicious. The shared bathroom (no bath) was clean and the shower good and powerful. The location was convenient for my needs and traffic noise was not a nuisance, even though the guest house is at a fairly busy road junction.

Review 47:Wifi was very poor and intermittent Limited car parking

Review 48:Rooms were spotless bedding was clean and fresh Bathroom was clean and modern Family room was a good size Breakfast was great! Quiet location despite being on a main road

Review 49:The guesthouse had no phone or wifi reception and I couldn't get a decent signal for the television. The night I stayed was a very hot summer's night and I had to have the window open - the guesthouse is on a very busy intersection and the noise of lorries and other traffic was very loud. I was not told there were (minimal) cooking facilities or a lounge room for guests and only noticed it in the morning. the lock on the bathroom door was questionable.

Review 50:The country location - it was in a pretty village and was a very pretty building. the room was very nicely decorated and not too small. The bed was comfortable and the view was nice (beyond the road!)

Review 51:When I booked, the website said evening meals available. Subsequently I learned that this service had been withdrawn. Hopefully the website has been brought up to date.

Review 52:Valoue for money in easy-to-find location. Generous breakfast.

Review 53:You have to drive out of the village to eat

Review 54:Staff (Trish) wonderfully helpful and friendly

Review 55:Just what you need after working a 12 hour shift very nice

Review 56:The lady on the reception desk/serving the breakfast the next morning was very friendly and a credit to the hotel.

Review 57:Far away from everything.

Review 58:Comfy bed. Clean room & bathroom/toilet. Nice communal area with pool table.

Review 59:Nice double room, Trish was a great host, nice breakfast, v reasonable price.

Review 60:Really friendly.Excellent breakfast.

Review 61:states guest bar on site however this is a vending machine

Review 62:clean and tidy. owners very friendly and helpful

Review 63:Shared bathroom but this was reflected in the price

Review 64:Very friendly staff, good breakfast

Review 65:Super Nice staff! They were super nice with me. The room was simple but comfortable and clean.

Review 66:Excellent staff, modern rooms Comfy bed

Review 67:The Staff, the place, location

Review 68:fairly permanent traffic noise

Review 69:the staff. geographically convenient. generally pleasant.

Review 70:Noise from road

Review 71:Patricia Ward was very friendly and most helpful.

Review 72:No mirror in bedroom. Hardly saw any staff

Review 73:Comfortable and quiet

Review 74:Very freindly staff very accomidating

Review 75:No free wifi? (Or if there was, I couldn't pick it up)

Review 76:A lovely, friendly "old style" B&B.

Review 77:Streetlights shine into room, you might need a sleep mask.

Review 78:Friendly staff and a nice breakfast

Review 79:Very comfortable rooms and wonderful hosts. Enjoyed our stay.

Review 80:wifi didn't work all week! And parking was very limited, had to park down the road a few times.

Review 81:Accommodating staff and delicious breakfast.

Review 82:Noise from the road outside.

Review 83:Staff very friendly and helpful. Good value. Nice breakfast.

Review 84:Nowhere nearby to get something to eat or drink in the evening.

Review 85:Cleanliness Happy owner and staff and Breakfast was really good.

Review 86:The friendly people and nothing was too much trouble we would stay here again

Review 87:Trish was very helpful and friendly!

Review 88:Very pleased all in all. Fabulous value. Will definitely stay again.

Review 89:Location Convenient

Review 90:Nice room friendly staff

Review 91:Room somewhat cold

Review 92:Friendly staff Excellent breakfast Comfortable bed

Review 93:Not much parking. Very noisy next to the road. Never seen such a small TV.

Review 94:wifi worked very well. Breakfast was good. Good value for the money.

Review 95:Carpets

Review 96:Large room, clean and comfy bed plus good wifi reception most of the time. Breakfasts very good served on a boiling hot plate..brill

Review 97:Poor wifi reception in room, significant road noise, generally tired condition of building and fittings.

Review 98:Friendly, good location, good breakfast

Review 99:charging laptop in electric plug socket apparently tripped the fuse

Review 100:Good welcome and attention. Was fine for my purposes.

Review 101:Lack of alcoholic drink to purchase on the premises. Lack of evening meal on the premises (though advertised on hoarding on exterior of building). Bus timetables on notice board inaccurate. Being woken at 5:30 am on Sunday morning by some idiots repeatedly banging on te door then throwing a stone through my open window (though clearly beyond the management's control).

Review 102:The welcome. The breakfasts. The willingness of the staff to go out of their way to assist me.

Review 103:I was greeted on arrival and shown to my room which is on the ground floor (useful for those like me who have mobility issues) and was a pleasant yellow colour and spacious. The hotel itself is on a busy crossroads but I wasn't disturbed by the traffic. Parking is limited but I had no problem whilst I stayed here. TV reception was good and I appreciated the kettle with tea and coffee available in my room

Review 104:Shower broke on second use but free breakfast offered for inconvenience using shared facilities - great that problem was acknowledged.

Review 105:Great breakfast very friendly staff. Thanks.

Review 106:The guesthouse is right at a very busy crossroads, with traffic seemingly night and day - a difficult one to assess, whether the convenient location outweighs the traffic noise. I wondered whether the car park at the side of the building could get full, forcing me to try and find alternative parking in the village nearby, so I decided to take a walk and leave the car parked in the car park, when I went out for a drink. Possibly the carpet in the room could do with replacing.

Review 107:The room was clean and spacious, nicely painted in relaxing yellow. Trish, at reception, seemed friendly and pleasant. The location is very handy, at a crossroads from where you can head North, South, East or West, into lovely countryside, or towards Loughborough, Nottingham, or the Vale of Belvoir. The village pub seemed friendly enough, and served good beer. The reception area is lovely, with beams and plenty of local tourist information leaflets. The TV has good reception, the ensuite bathroom is good, kettle and tea and coffee availability are good, and the option of 'room only' without breakfast, suited me too.

Review 108:They advertise having a bar but it was not open. There is a good pub in the village but remember to bring cash as they don't do cards.

Review 109:Breakfast was really good as was the service, rooms were clean although a little musty on the ground floor.

Review 110:On main road right next to busy traffic light junction. Extreemely creaky floorboards in bathroom. Not enough parking space, had to park round the corner.

Review 111:Helpfull, friendly staff. Excellent breakfast. Clean linen. Great shower.

Review 112:Road noise (located right on busy road junction), noisy shower with limited control on flow, limited parking, slightly dated feel and some decor a bit worn. No decaff instant coffee in room.

Review 113:Clean room with adequate facilities, comfortable bed, friendly and relaxed staff, free wi-fi.

Review 114:Tired looking decor upstairs. No backing on curtains so too light in the morning. Fire doors not sprung loaded so they tend to bang.

Review 115:Friendly staff. Great breakfast. Has it's own bar with pool table. Adequate parking.

Review 116:TV was a bit on the small side and was a good distance from the bed.

Review 117:Helpful and friendly on the phone, accommodating with booking in time and good breakfasts.

Review 118:The inn keeper is fabulous. She ended up keeping me another night afterI realized I had a mix up with my train schedule. The Guesthouse is verycosy and accommodating.

Review 119:Decor Road noise Beds aren't suitable for tall customers (over 6ft 3)

Review 120:Good breakfast Friendly staff Very clean and tidy cheap and cheerful :-)

Review 121:Not appreciated from the web advertising photograph that my room would be no more than six feet away from the main road at a set of traffic lights! Did not get to sleep until about 24:00 and had to be up again at 02:00 to make my first client p/up.......made the working day much more of a struggle than it needed to be.

Review 122:Friendliness of owner. Relative closeness to my early morning journey start to Quorn and then on to Gatwick.

Review 123:Room 7. Shower cubicle needs cleaning- mildrew. Restaurant. The fruit juice jug had broken lip and should have been put in bin.

Review 124:Excellent staff. Excellent breakfast.

Review 125:Beds need new mattresses. Drinking glass in the room was dirty. On a very busy main junction, so couldn't have window open.

Review 126:Room layout. Staff (attitude and local knowledge). location relevant to reason for stay. Price!

Review 127:Our room was large, modern and had every convenience. The hotel was in a great location and our one night stay was an absolute pleasure. The breakfast was perfect and the service was excellent. I would recommend the Guesthouse to everyone, and would very happily stay there again.
