Reviews for Burleigh Court Hotel and Leisure
Review 1:Impossible to find first time with Tom Tom.Takes you to the middle of a housing estate. Would this put me off - no way!
Review 2:Good staff, good gym, clean, good food
Review 3:The mattress was sprung and uncomfortable. The bathroom didn't have lotion or a shower cap. The hand wash was bolted to the wall away from the hand basin. there was only a tiny packet of shower gel. There were no slippers... It was a cold inhospitable experience this time round, it could well have been a different hotel altogether. I hope it was a one off!
Review 4:The lady at reception
Review 5:Nothing to report.
Review 6:The location is excellent, within the university. The place was spotlessly clean, the staff were helpful, and as it was a quiet weekend I was upgraded, so real value for money..
Review 7:I had a room in the lodge, water cold for shower, not linked to main building, restaurant didn't open with a full dinner menu
Review 8:room was warm with extra blankets for bed
Review 9:Not applicable
Review 10:the hotel was ideally placed for us as we were collecting our son from the university. It was spacious, clean and warm, very comfortable and good value for money.
Review 11:Extremely noisy. Very rowdy people staying. Disturbing behaviour by people staying at hotel that night or that were at a Xmas party (unsure which). Extreme problems getting in main door to lodge with card. Felt intimidated by people outside lodge that were part of a group at hotel that night. Feared for safety. Kept up all night by people constantly slamming doors to their rooms ALL night. My worst experience of staying in a hotel ever.
Review 12:Location on university grounds
Review 13:I'd I can book the spa when I booked the hotel then will be great!
Review 14:The disable room facilities! Even can has a fridge in our room! The spa is excellent!
Review 15:We thought the menu in the restaurant was basic and was not good value for the money they was charging Because it is in the middle of the university and there was a lot of sports meetings we was not comfortable
Review 16:We had a weekend break the breakfast was first rate
Review 17:Coffee at breakfast poor, jacuzzi cold, no restaurant menu in room so not clear wether food is available
Review 18:Great location, breakfast superb (although coffee not good) pool/sauna/steam room fab, jacuzzi cold? Not 4* though, good 3
Review 19:Restaurant is quite expensive, if you go by car to the hotel, there are two gates because it is inside University Area
Review 20:Sauna, Pool, Wifi, good breakfast, clean nice room, comfortable bed
Review 21:Inattentive bar staff made me look for dinner elsewhere. Also questioned regarding payment for breakfast. I was told that I must pay despite the fact that I had already booked and paid for this service. i showed the confirmation email and enquired when leaving if it had been cleared up but the response was that they couldn't get hold of reception - but it was ok.
Review 22:Location and value for money was very reasonable.
Review 23:Being unable to sleep as our room was backed onto the courtyard. As there was a Christmas party taking place there were many drunk and very loud people in the courtyard. When I spoke to reception they said they were unable to do anything about this until midnight. To my mind this was unfair, as I am sure the party goers could have had just a good a time in one of the bar areas and wouldn't have minded being moved into a warmer space. Unfortunately, this really spoilt our stay. Luckily it was only my husband and I. We would have had to leave if we had had children with us because of the noise level.
Review 24:Sauna & steam room Cleanliness of room and communal areas
Review 25:Very comfortable stay in a quiet room with excellent facilities. Staff were extremely helpful and efficient. The location was ideal for business on the university campus.
Review 26:Member of staff in gym and leisure area was arrogant and abnoxious. When my wife took two towels to wash her hair he asked her to return one as he was going short for the next day (maybe he should learn to order more towels rather then confiscate them from guests, was my thought). He later stormed up to the steam room and complained to my wife about leaving a tap on in the changing rooms. He then asked her to leave the swimming area and turn it off. After the intrusive steam i asked where we could drink wateras we were dehydrated and he replied out of the toilets as that's what he drinks?? My advice would be to sack him immediately. He is rude and abnoxious and obviously inadequate at his post. The rest of the staff were excellent
Review 27:Fantastic restaurant staff. Very friendly and informative.
Review 28:From the reception staff that helped guide me to the hotel, the lady that helped me carry my bags while I carried my baby to the room and then got me a travel cot at 3.30am, to the staff at breakfast they were all fantastic. I was genuinely very pleased with my stay.
Review 29:Bread at breakfast! I have breakfast at BC often (even when not staying) - the sliced bread always lets you down, and I no longer have toast.
Review 30:Excellent service in booking (I booked from the US, my card was blocked, BC emailed me about problem and were understanding, helpful and patient while I fixed the problem). Staff always pleasant. Excellent food, especially breakfasts, good value.
Review 31:Hot water for the shower was occasionally erratic. Shower was lukewarm one morning but nice and hot the other I stayed.
Review 32:Spa and leisure facilities including a pool. Walking distance to everywhere at University campus.
Review 33:The shower curtain!!
Review 34:We enjoyed are stay here. VG value, the food was well presented , breakfast superb, the bacon was the best I have had in a hotel. Thoroughly recommend.
Review 35:The venue rarely receives the notes (or they say they do not) and in my case where I have had hip replacements it is better to have a low sided bath at this venue and an extra duvet to soften the bed.
Review 36:I really like the rooms which are always clean and tidy
Review 37:Unhappy that I arrived at 5:50 on a Sunday evening and the gym closed at 6pm?
Review 38:Burleigh Court is in a great location, good food, meeting areas etc etc. Staff always helpful and rooms good.
Review 39:liked everything about it.Surroundings are perfect. Went to see my grandson in the university and he is indeed lucky to be surrounded by such beauty.
Review 40:Bar chaotic as there was a wedding on. Breakfast a total shambles for the same reason. (Clearing tables would have helped)
Review 41:Good facilities. Room excellent. Food (bar meals) very good.
Review 42:Pool/jacuzzi cold, poor soundproofing in the rooms (the poor lady in the next room with a severe cough, kept us awake)
Review 43:Powerful shower, excellent breakfast (despite the chef forgetting my gluten free hash browns)
Review 44:Only downside on this stay was a couple of noisy revellers coming in at 2:30am and waking most people up.
Review 45:The hotel is clean and tidy, the staff are excellent, the food (breakfast) is great all in all a really good place to stay.
Review 46:Reception staff poor - wrong address, room keys failed (3 trips to reception), room cold (heating not turned on and in morning no heating until 7 am), bin not clean from previous guest. Wifi difficult to use. When we arrived (4pm)asked re dinner to be told no places in restaurant -try outside, no help given. Spoke duty manager who arranged place for us in hotel rest. When we went to restaurant they had no knowledge of us but had 5 spare tables anyway so not an issue. restaurant staff are all students and wonderful but the non students staff poor - this is part of the unv. and it feels as if run by non professional staff. On check out they overcharged room rate by 30% - had confirmation from booking.com so able to get the rate amended but what would have happen if we had lost this confirmation?
Review 47:Good food and student staff
Review 48:One thing I will say. This is definitely a business hotel. We are staying there again for the festival. But we will not be returning for other leisure, as we ended up spending most of the time in the hotel as there is very little to do around it. Also. Being inside the university, initially finding it is not easy. Once you've found it once though. You become a master at getting past the barrier, really makes you feel like a vip
Review 49:After using Burleigh as a quick fix for escaping the camping fields of a festival, we were heavily impressed with the facilities at the price. We knew we had to come back when we wouldn't be coming back at midnight and leaving at 7 in the morning. We came back and again. Room was lovely.
Review 50:The desk in the room is a little high, if you are trying to use it for study. I think it could be improved with a basic office type chair that's adjustable for the majority of people staying at the hotel.
Review 51:Location was perfect as I was attending the University. Loved the spa for a bit of R&R. Staff generally were all really helpful.
Review 52:Restaurant was really cold and ruined the experience .we had to move in to the bar area after a period .
Review 53:Staff had a very good attitude to customer service and were a credit to the hotel
Review 54:Pillows could do with being a better quality as not very comfortable!
Review 55:Staff were all tremendous from housekeeping to waiters. So very helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble.
Review 56:Kitchen and bar staff a bit slow. Not taking orders and make you wait when they talk or stand around. Ignoring customers waiting to be served.
Review 57:Loved the facilities, good food and friendly reception. Overall a great stay!!
Review 58:Main door leading to lodge difficult to get into with key swipe facility. Was taking me 5 minutes at a time to get it to work and when called for assistance nobody answered
Review 59:Come to stay the night for my birthday. Son in halls there and his block was close by. Very convenient.
Review 60:I have stayed four times at the hotel but this is the first time i stayed in the lodge. There is a huge difference between the lodge and the hotel. The lodge is similar to a student accommodation with thin walls, tiny rooms and bathrooms. Although the hotel is four stars, the lodge doesn't even qualify as three stars. It is located behind the hotel with no internal connection. It is noisy , uncomfortable and house keeping standards need improvement.
Review 61:Staff are friendly and location is good.
Review 62:Beds were a little hard for my liking, but thats personal taste.
Review 63:Very helpful staff and food very good. Was running an awards night and staff were very helpful and attentive
Review 64:Dinner was spicy so couldn't have anything although the chunky chips were very good without pepper.
Review 65:Room was quiet and staff very pleasant and helpful
Review 66:I booked as I thought I had a good deal. The room I had was in The Lidge which is at the back of the hotel and is really overpriced student accomodation (based on my daughter's halls in Loughborough. I was disappoited as I have stayed at the sister hotel to this one and the accomodation there was better. It is probably just accomodation in The Lodge but I was not impressed.
Review 67:Convenience, location to university halls and Loughborough town
Review 68:I had asked on the phone if there was a lift and was told 'yes'. However, we were not put on the side of the hotel that had a lift, so my husband had to tackle the stairs whilst I had to lug the wheelchair up the stairs. We managed. The staff did say that they would try to rearrange the rooms, but it would have meant kicking my brother (the groom) out of his suite and swapping it for ours, so we declined.
Review 69:The staff could not have been more helpful to make our stay work well. The room was comfortable, impeccably clean and had everything you needed in case you forgot something.
Review 70:Breakfast was over crowded and we had to queue therefore staff were over stretched tea and coffee were stewed. More milk in room for tea/coffee making. Complementary water would have been good!
Review 71:Lovely staff, friendly atmosphere, good facilities and location.
Review 72:Lodge Room707 was noisy due to it having a student pathway next to it and this path leads to hall of residence. Nice to hear students laughing but they did wake me up many times. Avoid rear of lodge if need quiet room.
Review 73:The style and decor of room and hotel and great free coffee machines. Very clean.
Review 74:staff at the bar and restaurant were quite indifferent.
Review 75:good location, especially because i came to help my daughter settle down as fresher at the university
Review 76:The bed in our room 112 was absolutely awful it was as if you were sleeping directly on the springs and every time you moved the springs made a noise, not good at the room price charged. Bathroom could also do with a bit of tlc.
Review 77:Good breakfast
Review 78:Very expensive as we stayed when freshers were moving into halls. We had a room on the ground floor and could hear everything from the room above. No soundproofing whatsoever!
Review 79:Location
Review 80:Very expensive substandard food for a four star hotel. Sent back a couple of meals in my short stay.
Review 81:Very friendly and helpful staff. Loved the spa facilities.
Review 82:You should make the distinction between the lodge and the executive sections of the hotel. I ended at the lodge, which was previously a university accommodation with cardboards instead of walls. Its nowhere near worth 80 pounds.
Review 83:Evening meal was very poor, duck tough, hake dry and beans/ pulses looked like a conglomerate and tasteless. Shame as staff so helpful and hotel well equipped
Review 84:We were surprised to be asked to join a queue to wait 10 minutes for a table to be cleared before we could be seated for breakfast on our 2nd day. On the first day I had completely finished my breakfast before my Husband's choice from the menu was delivered. This was after several reminders that he was still waiting. Overall the management of the restaurant was the only criticism we had for our stay.
Review 85:Cleanliness and for the most part the professional attitude of staff.
Review 86:1. Uncomfortable bed and pillows, woke up with a sore neck and upper back. 2. Carpet was dirty, with what looked like gobbed-out spearmint toothpaste at bathroom entrance, stains elsewhere. 3. Showering was difficult - had to avoid banging into large metal holder at shoulder height while avoiding clingy shower curtain. Didn't drain well either, so shower became a bath. 4. Noise - room was stuffy so I opened window (the permitted 2cm of fresh) and was woken up by people jogging past and heavy doors slamming along corridor. 5. Breakfast was a total shambles - there weren't enough tables in the huge restaurant and lots of guests were left waiting in the lounge outside and no-one seemed to care or have a clue about who had waited longest. First hotel I've ever been to which has been unable to offer all guests a breakfast. No idea what the food was like, I left as I was tired of waiting and the atmosphere was growing tense... However, the bill was reduced by £10 when I complained about this at checkout. 6. TV had an irritatingly tinny speaker, it was unusable. 7. There was a frosted glass tray on the desktop in the room bearing a sticker warning that hot cups must be placed on the glass tray and that any damage to furniture would be charged to room. This captured the overall inhospitable feel of the place, guests are suffered rather than welcomed.
Review 87:Not a lot
Review 88:Appalling bar staff. Waited 10 minutes to be served and the bar guy served everyone else bar me...I was actually going to ask if I'd offended him. In the end other staff came to serve, but he also did this to my companion
Review 89:Room and breakfast ok
Review 90:Had to walk for miles to get to the room. Had dinner in the restaurant but most of it had been shut off and it was very crowded. It was expensive
Review 91:The location was good
Review 92:Our bed mattress was quite hard which is why I have marked the comfort score down a little. Other family members staying in other rooms did not have the same issue though.
Review 93:The hotel was clean, smart and friendly and we felt very comfortable there. Breakfast was excellent, good parking and an opportunity to walk around the campus in the morning was an added bonus as an alumni of the university. My parents and my brother and his family were also staying and we all enjoyed our stay together. My husband plans to highlight this hotel to his workmates so they can use it when away on business in the area.
Review 94:The single bed seemed smaller than average and was very uncomfortable. The pillows were limp and didn't provide much support. The quilt barely covered the side of the bed, which meant I had to use a blanket to ensure warmth.
Review 95:The location of the hotel, and the ease of access to the university campus.
Review 96:swimming bath closed at 8:00pm, we did not get back to the hotel till 730pm, most hotels keep pool open to 9/10pm £30 for 2 breakfasts were way over the top, when I told the person at the esk there were two of us and how much I was told £15, I though that was good value for two, after we started eating the breakfast he came with a bill for £30.
Review 97:good facilities
Review 98:Lodge rooms are EXTREMELY small. Service of food in the bar was poor club sandwich arrived and then had to ask for my chips and cutlery and condiments the last twice
Review 99:clean and convenient
Review 100:We were unable to book a table for our evening meal as we didn't give enough notice. We were not advised that a booking would be essential at check in
Review 101:Boiling hot room, even with the window wide open all night, really uncomfortable, and when I pulled the chair out from under the desk, there was a pair of dirty smelly socks left from the last guest.
Review 102:Handy for the university, nice bathroom and toiletries,
Review 103:Sharing the bar with a wedding was horrible, screaming kids at 11pm, not well organised by the staff and the hotel management!
Review 104:Room size, staff, bar area, breakfast
Review 105:Great location; very handy for the M1. Lovely room. Fabulous shower. Comfortable bed. We had a suite and there were some nice extras such as bathrobes, chocolates and plenty of space. Would definitely stay here again.
Review 106:Televisions in all communal areas. Had a meal in the restaurant and the volume from the television in the bar was very loud made worse by the fact that it was a rugby match and the people watching were noisy. Asked the staff if it could be turned down a little and they agreed it was loud and did turn it down.
Review 107:Very convenient for Loughborough University which we were visiting.
Review 108:Not a complaint but consideration might be given to soft carpeted areas which wheelchair users find difficult to push over
Review 109:Generously sized rooms, fantastic breakfast, friendly, helpful staff and email communications
Review 110:For the rate I have stayed in far nicer rooms, pool was closed and rooms where very small in the block I stayed in and seemed to be old student accommodation!
Review 111:Friendly staff.
Review 112:Amazing value and very helpful staff. I was able to use the leisure facilities whilst waiting to check in which was great! Great single rooms - has everything you might need.
Review 113:comfort of bed - no king size, matrace is fairly basic. highly restricted opening times of pool for kids
Review 114:good hotel inside UKs largest University complex. modern, stylish and nice rooms. large breakfast and execellent front office staff (believe it was Ryan). excellent value for money.
Review 115:Jacuzzi cold! Noise - wedding on - meant bagpipes and less attention from staff - very crowded bar as a result Long walk to restaurant / breakfast room Lack of co-ordination - appears university staff are not flexible and hence bank holiday Monday the gate barrier is not sorted - so hotel gives a code but uni staff are not working - so need old code to get out of site!!
Review 116:Friendly staff Fab breakfast Good gym Swimming pool wam Evening meal - great local lamb Parking good Handy for ECB cricket centre / ground
Review 117:When calling reception for something such as an iron it arrived approx 1 hours after asked for despite calling reception a number of times, room service for cleaning the room was poor, new towels were left and bed was done. Nothing else was cleaned or put away in its place. During our 2 day stay the electricity went twice which we were not made away of prior to our stay or prior to electricity going off. The room was pretty small despite it being an executive double. Iron in room didn't work and ruined clothes, hair dryer was ridiculous and you had to keep your hand pressed on the button to make it work. Think again before you book and make sure no maintenance work is going on. Pool and sauna were out of use during our stay as well but despite all this we were charged in full.
Review 118:Being on a campus, there didn't seem to be very much around in walking vicinity so you couldn't eat or drink elsewhere without driving.
Review 119:Size of the room was great and everything you could need was there. The restaurant food was great as was the choices at breakfast. The staff all smiling and nothing too much trouble.
Review 120:For a 4 star rated hotel the rooms were a bit dated. The bathroom smelled unpleasantly damp and musty. The toilet needed bleaching to remove unsightly staining as did the bath ties re black mould. No air con :( room was uncomfortably warm even though no radiator on in the room. Window wouldn't open far enough.
Review 121:The location just off the motorway was good The room had ironing facilities and hairdryer with a long cord :) Good choice of tea/ coffee making facilities
Review 122:Breakfast on last day I know you busy but had to wait for table but people came after Us And sat down before us and they was couples as well as groups
Review 123:Everything
Review 124:we didn't rate the range of food served, we ended up having sandwiches delivered to our room .
Review 125:we liked the hotel been out of the way from the town centre. it was nice and quiet too!
Review 126:The attentiveness of the staff in the bar area, who helped me with cutlery and noticed I was short of space and moved the sauces etc. away. - well spotted and very considerate
Review 127:Access to the hotel had changed due to roadworks. I found the diversion poorly signed and a bit confusing. It would have been useful to have signs specifically for access to the hotel since it was the access road that was blocked off.
Review 128:Helpful, friendly staff and good access to wifi.
Review 129:Disappointed that the spa was closed for refurbishment which was only mentioned in very small print at the bottom of the booking.com site!
Review 130:Good food in the hotel and excellent staff
Review 131:Bedrooms being hot was an understatement. Decor poor looking very shabby and dated, nets in bedroom ripped. Room set up for 1 person despite 2 people booking in, had to ask for towels ect..
Review 132:Staff were friendly. Out of the way and very quiet but it was August.
Review 133:Pity our suite didn't have the separate room like we had last time and it was quite hot and stuffy had to have fan on as no air con in the room
Review 134:very clean and well equipped excellent parking and hotel in quiet grounds
Review 135:My room was adequate for one night but it would be cramped for a longer stay. I didn't particularly like the hotel itself.
Review 136:I always appreciate biscuits with the tea/coffee making facilities. The receptionist at check-out was charming.
Review 137:Bed was very soft, might just be my preference though
Review 138:Staff were fantastic, hotel, room and bathroom were spotless. Breakfast was lovely. It was the little things that made it like room facitilites and toiletries
Review 139:The pool and spa etc wasn't available as it was being renovated but they didn't warn us if this when we booked.
Review 140:The staff, the bar staff especially were very good. We mixed up our order but they sorted everything out without any fuss.
