Reviews for Craigvar

Review 1:Strathpeffer is a beautiful town with stunning walks and this is the perfect B and B to stay. It is the highest quality - big comfy beds, spotless, huge bath, great breakfast, hosts that cannot do enough to help.

Review 2:Having to leave!

Review 3:Absolutly fantastic guest house, spotlessly clean, we stayed in the blue room with lovely views of the garden, we were here for our wedding anniversary and it was perfect. the massive bathroom with luxury shampoos, bubble bath all there fir your use, lovely towling bathrobes, like home from home. The breakfast was very nice with all local produce. Margaret and Arthur are the friendly couple you could meet snd instantly make you feel like friends in their beautiful house, i would recommend this place to all my friends as ghis is probably the best bed and breakfast place i have ever been too. Great location and visit the pavillion next door we had great food one evening in here,

Review 4:Nothing. It was perfect.

Review 5:Everything! The hosts were warm and welcoming. The place was perfect, breakfast was exceptional. Truly amazed at how nice it was at the Craigvar. We strongly recommend it.

Review 6:Superb Decor, Welcome,Breakfast, Ambiance, well everything really. Easily as good as any 5 star hotel we've ever been to around the world! Arthur is a smashing chap full of info and time for that little chat that makes one feel at home!

Review 7:Not a thing!

Review 8:This was a very well run, beautiful B and B. Arthur was helpful but not obtrusive. He volunteered to help us with things that are a real problem when you're travelling. We were so grateful for his and Margaret's willingness to do so. The breakfasts were elegantly presented and very tasty. The placement of the house in the village is perfect. You can walk everywhere! One of the best B and Bs we've ever stayed in. They even give you shortbread and sherry!

Review 9:By far the best B&B I've stayed in. Booked this as the starting point for doing the North Coast 500 route and was perfectly located. Hosts were extremely welcoming and could not have asked for more. The room was beautiful and immaculately clean, free wifi, tea and shortbread on arrival and to top of off the breakfast selection was superb and tailor made to your individual request. Really hope I can go back for another visit :)

Review 10:This guest house is beautiful and comfortable. The owners are warm and friendly. I am going to make an excuse to come through this area next time I am in Scotland just so I can stay again! It's perfect!

Review 11:Friendliness from moment of arrival and the quality and choice of food.Little touches like coffee on arrival and sherry as well as tea or coffee in room.

Review 12:Stayed here whilst attending a family wedding at the nearby pavillion. We received a warm welcome on arrival and were made to feel very much at home throughout our stay. The owners genuinely couldn't do enough for us. The facilities are first class with free wifi, immaculate rooms, and a great breakfast. The location is central to all Strathpeffer amenities and next to the Pavillion. Having seen the standard of some of the other hotels around during our weekend, we definitely made the right choice staying here. We'll be back for another visit soon!

Review 13:We received such a warm welcome, a lovely quiet night,a delicious breakfast with fabulous creamy porridge, and excellent information about the rest of our travels!

Review 14:Attention to details and lots of little extras. The owners have a real desire to please, nothing seemed too much trouble. Very comfortable and appealing.

Review 15:Nothing

Review 16:The twin room was splendid, the best we have ever stayed in and there was a lot of thought with regard to the breakfast and the owners were particularly pleasant and helpful.

Review 17:The comfort and attentiveness are world class. Margaret and Arthur welcome you with a tray of tea or coffee. The rooms are delightful, and have fresh fruit and sherry. Breakfasts are wonderful. Strathpeffer is a delightful little Victiruan town with nice rambles in the woods. The golf course looked great, too. Stay at Craigvar!

Review 18:We chose this b and b for a special birthdy and were glad we did. The room and bathroom were large, well equipped, immaculate and comfortable. The bed was very very comfortable and we had a lovely view from our window. There was sherry and biscuits waiting for us in our room, and they made us a pot of coffee, plus had a special present for our birthday. The hosts really cared a lot to make us feel very welcome and comfortable. Plus a couple minutes walk away we had a superb birthday dinner at the Red Poppy restaurant.

Review 19:Margaret Scott is the best host possible and keeps the most wonderful bed and breakfast. We have been going there for a few years now and will return again and again. She deserves a score of 10/10

Review 20:Friendly warm welcome by both owners and their daughter. Careful attention and interest in special dietary requirements. Super breakfast with wide choice. Spacious bedroom and bathroom.Cleanliness and attention to detail

Review 21:All the nice touches for instance the crystal glasses, the whisky in the bedroom ( I don't drink it but it made you feel you were in Scotland!). Large bedroom and great choice for breakfast

Review 22:I honestly could not say a single thing. We will be finding a reason to return! Thank you to our hosts.

Review 23:From the moment we arrived, we received the utmost in courteous hospitality. The room we stayed in (the blue, west room) was furnished tastefully and with impeccable attention to detail. We had booked this as a one night stay while attending an event at the Pavilion - it was in a perfect location for this and we were disappointed to have not booked for longer to take full advantage of this beautiful accommodation. Breakfast was absolutely delicious - all locally sourced produce and absolutely delicious. There wasn't a thing the hosts could have done to improve our stay - everything was thought of, every need was met and more. Staying at the Craigvar felt decadent and luxury but not to the point that I felt uncomfortable or out of my depth, it was a home from home (if my home happened to be a 5 star B&B, with exceptional service!). How do you make the towels and linen smell so good?

Review 24:the rain, but that was not down to the patrons

Review 25:everything, warm friendly welcome, nice extra touches such as china cups and saucers, quiet envionment, able to get on with work. Nearby eating places. just perfect

Review 26:The accommodation, food and mine host were excellent. The Peach room allocated to us was the best we have come across in any B&B or hotel in the U.K. To persons reading this review don`t hesitate in booking this accommodation.

Review 27:Arthur and his family have established a B & B that is CLASS from star to finish.Breakfasts are a tantalising experience in a crisp linen and silver setting.Well done. Hosts helpful with suggestions of places to visit.

Review 28:Everything they went out of their way to help I needed medical assistance while staying and they sorted all of it out, the room (blue room) was exceptional in comfort and nice touches like fruit and biscuits and lovely bathroom with all your needs

Review 29:Welcoming, helpful and attentive host to match the superb accommodation! Bedroom (with dressing room!) spacious and well appointed with homely touches, bathroom large, modern and well equipped, breakfast superb - great care obviously taken to ensure a VERY comfortable stay. Will try to engineer a return as soon as possible!

Review 30:Very friendly - beautiful room - very spacious with dressing room - modern bathroom - Wifi - flat screen TV - lovely old house - lots of extra touches such as tea on arrival - sherry in the room - booked a restaurant for us - checked out the weather where we were going. Delicious breakfast with locally sourced produce - would be happy to go back anytime

Review 31:There was nothing to dislike!

Review 32:Warm welcome and genuine hospitality. Spacious and comfortable bedroom. Wonderful bathroom. Superb Scottish breakfast. Lovely location in heart of picturesque Strathpeffer.

Review 33:Wish we could have stayed much longer!

Review 34:Extremely high-quality, truly luxurious B&B. We absolutely loved our stay and would highly recommend! Breakfast was incredible (best ever at any B&B in which we have stayed!), hosts are kind and accommodating, room is beautifully decorated and immaculate, bathroom is large and has a lovely tub for a relaxing bubble bath, location is perfect in the middle of a beautiful village (Strathpeffer). We cannot recommend Craigvar highly enough, and we will absolutely be staying again soon.

Review 35:Being only able to stay for one night due to work.

Review 36:There is nothing to fault this B&B. I stay in international hotels and B&Bs on a regular basis and the Craigvar is exceptional. The room was large, well equipped and extremely comfortable with excellent facilities (quality linen, china and glass, large television and even a small decanter of sherry). The host did everything to make us welcome and the breakfast menu had a wide choice (including fresh strawberries and a choice of different types of cooked dishes). Moreover it was really well cooked. We usually stop in Ullapool when getting the ferry over to the Western Isles and travelling in the Highlands, in future we will be stopping in Strathpeffer whenever possible.

Review 37:Craigvar is a very well maintained Victorian villa in the very centre of the pretty spa village of Strathpeffer. The decoration and furnishings, which are of the highest order, fit perfectly with Victorian era. The warm welcome and excellent service made our stay very relaxing. Breakfast is extensive and very tasty. This B & B cannot be faulted.

Review 38:nothing at all.

Review 39:the Craigvar was luxurious, it was a large room with excellent facilities - a very large en-suite with toiletries and robes. there was sherry and crystal glasses, shortbread, crisps and fruit. The room was impeccably furnished and had a large fireplace with beautiful large floral arrangement in front. It also has a huge TV over the mantle, which fitted in really well to the room - most TV's don't. The breakfast was superb with GF bread and every kind of food desired on the menu. A room was set aside as guest's sitting room, we didn't use it as we were so pleased with the room. Overall it was so good we knew that no where else we were staying on our trip could possibly match up to this standard. as we were leaving, we noticed a wheelchair - one of the owners used a wheel chair. These people deserve a medal.

Review 40:Quite simply, the best B&B we have ever stayed at. It has only three letting rooms but the comfort and attention to detail is that of a five-star boutique hotel.

Review 82:We liked everything

Review 83:A delight to stay in such a pretty and comfortable guest house. Margaret has anticipated everything for a comfortable stay and even had a decanter of sherry along with tea/coffee and biscuits in the room. There are top of the line toiletries, good bed linens and fluffy towels waiting and the in town location makes it a good base to explore the area. Shower is fabulous and breakfast each morning delicious.

Review 84:Delightful hostess, gorgeous tastefully furnished bedroom with huge ensuite and great breakfast, all located in a lovely spa town. Also available parking.

Review 85:It felt a bit like leaving too early. Our hosts turned out to be teachers, just as we are, and we left with a feeling that we should have come to know each other a bit better before leaving.

Review 86:Especially because we were the only guests at Craigvar, we really felt at home. The breakfast is delicious, the service impeccable, the smile on the faces for free. The house is very modern but not at all the IKEA-type of B&B you often find nowadays. The location is very handy for touring the northern part of the Highlands. Ullapool and Assynt, Torridon and Applecross, Glen Shiel are all within easy reach. If you like the drive (how could you dislike the drive in this landscape?) even Skye and the far north can be included in a long day out.

Review 87:I liked everything.

Review 88:The welcome, from the moment we stepped through the door. The room was so well appointed and well decorated. The fantastic breakfast one of the best I have ever had (note to the Caledonian Hotel in Edinburgh come here to know how to prepare breakfast ) First class I would highly recommend staying here.

Review 89:What a welcome. 2 minutes in the door and I had a tray with freshly made coffee and shortie delivered to my room. A lovely room with separate dressing area and large walk in shower cabinet. Great breakfast, owners friendly and keen to provide advice on local amenities and attractions. Highly recommended.
