Reviews for The Junction Hotel by Marston's Inns

Review 1:The company Computer system needs an injection of a rapid responseComputer Programme or a new programme completelyYour existing one is , words fail meAs slow as a dead dog and even when it eventually was resurrected or loaded, it then failed to operate without staff assistance or manipulation.Your staff even stated at times it was more than a little slow Diplomacy with loyalty to the fore Initially It failed to show both my Bookings and Payment as such,or even who I was.Eventually it showed there were 2 records of my booking one for 2 nights and the second for the 3 nights that I stayed via my name but not when I was arrivingHaving no designate dining room staff seemed rather strange especially for Evening dinnerThere were 2 young Staff members who could have operated the Dining Room but they were arranging the Christmas Decorations ?Seemed almost Like a Bistro with your order placed via the Bar Staff with the Menu being on the bar with the Bar staff delivering to the Dining roomWith further Marketing The Dining Room could be a winner needs a bit of get up and go as a Dining Room and not as an extension of the BarFrom the number of Patrons in the Hotel / Bar during my stay I suspect the weekly take is not very high so really something does need to happenOne of your staff members I suspect a Shift Manager ,has an urgent need to realise that a fresh guest does not know how your hotel systems work, it helps certainly if an explanation with a smile is forthcoming it certainly does make the atmosphere a little more pleasantA period at Charm School would serve him well, or additionally a few lessons in courtesy wouldn't do him any harm eitherNot sure if he realised, he was controlling a Hotel and not just a Bar, he did not seem to have the charisma required by a Hotel Concierge.Yes I do have a little knowledge of Hotel and Accommodation operations both as a Guest and behind the scenes.

Review 2:Atmosphere,Cleanliness and Courtesy of the majority of the Staff Quality of your Food and Beverages Site and Position in your town

Review 3:1. Room inadequately ventilated: forced to open ground floor window adjacent to foot path = security problem. 2. Hand basin taps were correctly labeled (ie. cold on right) but very hot water came out of the cold tap [and cold from the hot] = dangerous.

Review 4:1. Central location 2. Helpful staff

Review 5:The room waslighting was a little dim especially the bathroom

Review 6:Location to town centre. Parking The Manager was brilliant. Nothing was too much trouble. Location of rooms ( converted barn separate to main PH) meant no noise from PH bar and ' Private entrances away from PH

Review 7:I really disliked the fact that the door onto the street had no lock. As a solo woman I did not feel safe with just a single lock on my room door with no catch to lock from the inside and the fish eye missing so anyone could look into my room.

Review 8:The room was spacious and pleasantly furnished and decorated. They gave me fresh milk for the tea and coffee which was excellent. The breakfast was excellent

Review 9:It would have been nice to have a window in room 4.

Review 10:It was ideally placed, just outside the shopping area and close to the market. The bedroom was in a converted barn, which was quaint. Good sports coverage in the pub, which was next door.

Review 11:Some of the food items could have been better; quality of ingredients supplied, rather than standard of service from the staff, which was always of the highest standard.

Review 12:The friendly and helpful attitude of the staff impressed me. The location is ideal for public transport

Review 13:My sister and I were staying after a wedding but couldn't check in before 1am, the owner was super helpful and said it wasn't a problem at all. When we arrived he gave us the keys straight away and got someone to show us to the room; perfect. Not the best decor, but you get what you pay for.

Review 14:Because the maid had gone home with the key of our allocated room we were put into another. It stank of must and damp. The window had to be opened and left open all night, giving us a security problem as it was on the ground level opposite the car park. However to the credit of the management, this was recognised, we were moved to another, nice room for the second night. We were not charged for the first night, a satisfactory result for all.

Review 15:When a real problem was identified it was dealt with well. Breakfast was OK.

Review 16:The beds were very uncomfortable. My husband and I were in single beds and they were awful.

Review 17:It was close to the train station. Great English breakfast.

Review 18:Standard twin beds: one was rather squeaky. Don't stay for your honeymoon! One small window onto external carpark with suspect security device. Claustrophobic at night.

Review 19:Central location, convenient on-site parking but don't be last in (a bit small). Good on-site full breakfast. Convenient to several other dining out options (new developments nearby). Can recommend the Thai 20 metres up street.

Review 20:There are 6 rooms available in this converted stables accommodation, all with parking at your door. The pub offers good food and has an excellent full English breakfast included. It is in the town so there are all the shops and other pubs within minutes walk. Good value for money.

Review 21:No shaver socket for my electric razor.

Review 22:Recently refurbished bar and dining area very nicely done with lots of local references. Good hot full English. Big bedroom with sofa and lots of space. Decent shower. Free parking.

Review 23:Poor food had to send it back, the room was dark and dingy. the bin had not been emptied and the tv did not work. The people in the next room had visitors and there was shouting and banging of doors until 2.30am. All went quiet until 3.30 am when it started up again

Review 24:nothing much

Review 25:On arrival was told by staff that only 2 pillows allocated to double bed as didn't have any extra ,so had to use cushions on bed with a cover which the hotel supplied .Manager apologised in the morning and gave us money off as an apology was disappointed with staff not really knowing what else they could have done to sort it out .

Review 26:good centre location , price reasonable ,breakfast included and good choices .

Review 27:Liked it - spent a weekend in Dorset and would like to return and use this as a base to explore further

Review 28:Friendly Albert cooking breakfast. Very close to centre of Dorchester - could walk to see town. Easy to find. Parking on site, off road. Very spacious bedroom and bathroom. Sky TV. Interesting local features in bar, and local beers.

Review 29:I had requested an early check in so the manager personally sorted out the room himself. A proper lovely man! Excellent service. Excellent room. Excellent stay. Would definitely stay there again and recommend to others

Review 30:The beds were hard and the lighting poor but we would stay again and take a couple of toppers for the bed.

Review 31:The staff were lovely and the breakfast was super and it was right in the middle of Dorchester.

Review 32:It smelled like beer and is kind of dingy. It did not feel secure from drunken revelers leaving the bar.

Review 33:It is centrally located, so you can walk right into the downtown shopping area. Good bathroom. Very nice manager who is eager to please.

Review 34:Pub closed at 9.30. Room in stable block surrounding car park so noisy when bin lorry turned up at 4.30 am and bins were moved at 7 am. Room very dark, broken toilet seat and only one pilow each.

Review 35:Good location. Lovely breakfast but it took ages

Review 36:The hot tap dispensed cold water and the cold tap dispensed hot water. The pub shut at 2145 on the Sunday night. The bed was very squeaky and uncomfortable. With only one pillow per bed.

Review 37:Excellent staff, very friendly and amiable. The rooms were good sized and had everything we needed. The staff allowed a later breakfast as we were the only ones there. The great barman placed the sprinklers o. The beer to give a proper pint not flat southern beer that was been served !

Review 38:Units were in the former stables out the back of the hotel, nice and quiet, but room only had one window which did not allow much natural light into the room and the bedside lights did not work in the room we were in.

Review 39:There was limited parking (luckily we obtained a space). The room was damp with no heating on a day when rain had been torrential. In fairness the staff tried hard to rectify this but we still had an uncomfortable stay.

Review 40:Staff were friendly and efficient. The room was clean and the food excellent. Our bill was reduced to compensate for the problems with our room.

Review 41:Well it isn't really a hotel, just some rooms near a pub (converted barn or something). So the advertised pictures are a bit deceptive. Due to the lak of ventilation the rooms are a bit damp, but clean. I think room 4 is a disaster, no window just 2 high skylights, so no cutains and you can't open them. For what is offered, it's overpriced

Review 42:Friendly staff, room 4 isn't so nice but they gave me another in a blink. WiFi and breakfast was good.

Review 43:Loud music from the bar until 1.00am - no warning before booking. Only 1 bath towel for 2 of us, only 1 pillow on each bed, duvet covers were torn. TV did not work.

Review 44:The staff were friendly and we were given a discount following us sharing our concerns. The breakfast was substantial and nice.

Review 45:Lighting in room inadequate and tiled surfaces in bathroom needed better cleaning ... hairs adherring to shower wall that were far longer than any of mine!

Review 46:Fine, spacious room but rather dingy because inadequate lighting ... low energy bulbs all very well but not enough of them.

Review 47:Very limited parking. Space wasn't readily available. Had to park elsewhere and keep checking to see if a space became free.

Review 48:Pleasant, basic, clean room. Good breakfast in the morning.

Review 49:Last morning of stay no breakfast, no staff turned up, all guests eat at another café nearby, a very big pub, can be noisy in the evenings

Review 50:Meal Deals were good, quality of food good

Review 51:Room needed a good clean. Shabby paint work. No soap in shower. Uncomfortable bed. Gave the impression hadn't been cleaned from last guest. Breakfast was poor.

Review 52:Uncomfy bed, only one flat, hard pillow, very limited parking and very dirty, stained carpet in a dark room.

Review 53:Easy to find and a great full English breakfast.

Review 54:The room was 'tired'. The window didn't shut properly. It needs an upgrade and bedside lights fitting. Couldn't read at night without having main light on and that disturbed other half.

Review 55:Staff welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Linen and towels were very good. Brilliant shower. Cooked breakfast was superb and plenty of it.

Review 56:The bed head knocked against the wall whenever either or us moved. The bed was also very hard. The lighting was quite dim (there was only a small window which didn't let in much light) and it was difficult to read at nighttime.

Review 57:The convenience of being able to book a single night during the Easter weekend was welcome. Service at breakfast was quick.

Review 58:The rooms are all around a the pubs car park, not upstairs in the main building. Musty smell in the room. Heating not working in the bathroom, and only partly in the bedroom. Lighting very dim, found it difficult to read by. Building work just started in the hotel, so builders vans made parking very difficult.

Review 59:Friendly staff.

Review 60:Friendly & professional staff and a good breakfast each morning. Evening meals and beer were enjoyable and very reasonable plus close to all amenities. Would definitely return in the near future.

Review 61:The Bed was the most uncomfortable bed that I had every slept in. One pillow, goodness me.Not even a valence on the base. OK so it was £30 for the night, some say you get what you pay for, however, others offer much better for the same price.Customer service scores nil !

Review 62:Nothing that I really liked !

Review 63:Noisey radiator in room 3, kept gouging and going all night.

Review 64:We're local so knew location and what to expect with regards the bar/ food. HOWEVER a great 1 nigh stay, extra requests re flowers and champagne in the room were no problem. Staff are friendly and despite central location in middle of Dorchester, room was really really quiet with no outside noise at all!

Review 65:The staff were great, very helpful, the meals were really good, I needed easy access to the hospital and station, both are within easy reach, Wi-Fi signal was very good.

Review 66:The window was stuck, it did open OK, but when to be closed it really needed 2 people, someone inside to hold up the catch & another outside to put pressure on the wooden frame. The full english breakfast was not to my taste, you get a good full plate, but on both days it tasted like everything was cooked in the same pan ..... everything tasted of bacon!

Review 67:Although it's a very busy public house, the rooms are separate from the main building (across the car park, similar set up to a motel) There was a late night disco taking place in the main building the 1st night we stayed, but apart from a quiet base, it was remarkably quiet.

Review 68:Arranged for breakfast at 8 am as had deadlune to meet, checked 3 times this was ok. Following morning the place was all locked up, after 25 mins a cleaner appered and said the manager would be down soon. In the end had to go to the local cafe and get breakfast. A discount was given when I settled the bill, but very frustrating when people let you down

Review 69:Rooms were good, evening meal was value for money

Review 70:No windows at ground level in room No.4. Better and brighter lighting would help.

Review 71:Convenient location for town centre and all public transport. Quiet at night without any disturbance. Good sized room with excellent shower/toilet facilities. Very comfortable room furniture, ideal for relaxing.Friendly manager Albert and all his crew gave first class service

Review 72:Staff and esp Manager could not do enough for you.Food was excellent esp full English breakfast. Very central for amenities. Would definitely stay there again. My mother and I had a great holiday, stayed 6 nights

Review 73:£70 per night. Mould in the bathroom Branch/Plant growing through the skylight. Smelt a bit damp

Review 74:Really friendly/helpful staff. Bed was fantastic

Review 75:The mattress was a little hard but we still slept okay.

Review 76:The full English breakfast was superb and the sevice was excellent. The rooms are en-suite with a very good shower. The Inn is situated on a road junction in the middle of Dorchester in easy reach of shops and restaurants. The Inn also has a very good, reasonable food menu which is served all day

Review 77:The room myself and my wife were in - Number 4 - had a leaking valley where 2 roofs join, and consequently one wall had damp patches from a few days of heavy rain, which had caused a musty smell in spite of 2 air fresheners in the room. Car parking on site is very limited.

Review 78:The rooms were large with simple but pleasant furnishings. The shower had a good flow of hot water. There was the expected hospitality tray and a TV with a decent screen size. Food, both breakfast and the evening bar menu, was to a good standard and good value. Knowing that this was a pub, we expected some noise, but it was not as bad as we expected it to be, although I would not want to be here for more than a couple of nights.

Review 79:Needed more ventilation in the room especially in middle of Summer. Just needs a little bit of TLC.

Review 80:Central to Dorchester. Staff were great and really helpful. Great value for money

Review 81:It is not the tops, but good value for money. I would definitely stay again.

Review 82:Staff very good, especially the manager, nothing too much trouble. Very convenient position.

Review 83:Its a gasto pub basically, so a lot of regulars hanging around outside in smoking area, im glad I went mid week as disco on sat nights so wouldnt have got any sleep

Review 84:Location was great right in middle of town

Review 85:nothing

Review 86:Manager and staff could not have been more friendly and helpful, The food could not be faulted. Would recommend to anyone. Would definitely stay again.

Review 87:Slight smell of damp in the room.

Review 88:Great location for Dorchester and trips out in the local area. Room was huge and facilities more than adequate. The breakfasts were fantastic and very plentiful. Perfect start to a day out. The staff were very helpful and polite. Food in the hotel/pub was outstanding, I recommend eating there in the evening.Parking was limited but we had no problems at anytime.

Review 89:The (superior) room was really tired and in need of some tlc. The evening meal was lame and the staff seemed disinterested. All in all, the place did not live up to its description on your site.

Review 90:£40 per night cheaper than Weymouth where I was working. Breakfast was ok and the morning staff friendly.

Review 91:The decor/furnishings a bit run down. Doesn't matter that much as the place was friendly, but initially it did not inspire confidence

Review 92:The staff were friendly and helpful. Location good, breakfast good

Review 93:The room was just about adequate but could have done with a coat of paint and had ivy growing in through the window!

Review 94:the staff were very helpful. Due to Booking.com's inefficiency the hotel were unaware that we were travelling with two small children. However the staff did their best to ensure that we had enough bed clothes and were comfortable enough.

Review 95:Hairdrier not working in room 4; plants growing through window light. Only 1 table outside to sit at and that was occupied by woman who was working behind bar when we checked in. Colleague's room was boiling but couldn't safely have window open as opened directly onto car park and someone could have climbed in.

Review 96:Clean and adequate but that's all could really say for it. Oh and breakfast was decent.

Review 97:We had a great time at the junction inn the location was great if you travelled by train food was excellent the breakfast was very filling and hot I would definitely stay here again. The only downside was the room was a little dark and needs a fan in the room

Review 98:Our booking stated "executive room"staff said they didnt have any!!1 Unable to close window which was a concern as on ground level. On site car park extremely limited and tight.

Review 99:Location Food in Pub

Review 100:The rooms could do with some seating and brighter lighting other than that we found everything nice

Review 101:Every so often my partner and I book a night away just so we have time together the junction was great everything on your doorstep a lovely clean room and very friendly helpful staff the restaurant had lovely food and great value for money we liked walking thru the park nearby and we enjoyed our night there and will return soon

Review 102:Weird customers outside the back entrance that threw flowers through our window onto our bed whilst we were at the bed. In no way the responsibility of the hotel though and it was amusing!

Review 103:The staff were brilliant! Very friendly and helpful!

Review 104:Bed was uncomfortable and the headboard came off as soon as we sat on it - they didn't fix it while we were there (2 nights). Damp smell noticeable.

Review 105:Hearty breakfast. Very helpful staff.

Review 106:the staff were all Manchester united supporters and would not let me watch Manchester city on the pub tv

Review 107:it was very central to Dorchester town centre

Review 108:Nothing

Review 109:Everything

Review 118:Good location. Room in 'new' condition.

Review 119:no

Review 120:convenient for town. Quiet rooms

Review 121:Room had no outside windows OK for one night but depressing for longer stay.

Review 122:Easy parking and closeness to room

Review 123:Dustmen coming for bins at 5.30 in morning by are room.no heater to switch on just raidatorsx

Review 124:Breakfast ..central placed not far from station.

Review 125:No heating first 2 nights

Review 126:Nothing all good

Review 127:Inadequate info in room and no opening windows

Review 128:Very good breakfast and dinner, friendly staff

Review 129:The room smelled damp, and was very dark. All in all, a pretty miserable affair.

Review 130:Poorly lit room...tired. Noisy in the morning.

Review 131:Friendly staff
