Reviews for The Snooty Fox

Review 1:Arrived 18:00 hrs after long day, not sure if room was ready and lost key to room. Parking - had to make sure we were up by 0800 to feed meter.

Review 2:Beautiful old coaching inn, good position in town, staff helpful. Food very good.

Review 3:Rooms were quite small with no facilities except making tea. If you wanted a lie-in, not really an option as you can hear people walking outside the door. If you are not driving, nearest station is a taxi drive away.

Review 4:The rooms had just been recently decorated. The breakfast choice was vast and to a very high standard.

Review 5:Returned late in evening after a wedding - disappointed that there was no hot water for a shower that evening. I wouldn't have necessarily expected it in a 1 room B&B but I would in a pub with at least 10 rooms!

Review 6:Great location and pleasant staff. The breakfast was delicious.

Review 7:Its a good hotel in a central location in the town centre. The staff are attentive & it has a good bar area. The town of Tetbury is very pleasant & if you don't want to eat in the hotel there is an Italian restaurant nearby which is okay as an alternative.

Review 8:We had asked for two single beds but but they were made up as a double. This was not however a big issue.

Review 9:Good sized comfortable room and a really good meal.

Review 10:We had some trouble with the low flush toilets but the staff was very helpful to sort it out quickly.

Review 11:I love the local feel. Very friendly We have stayed at the hotel several times, always would recommend it

Review 12:Very poor service in restaurant, sagging settee in bedroom, stained carpet, dirty paintwork, bathroom taps ingrained with dirt. Young waiter in restaurant terrible body odour.

Review 13:Comfortable bed, good breakfast

Review 14:The fact we had a confirmed booking for two nights to be contacted and advised we were only booked for one night and the hotel was full. This was conveyed to us when we were on our way to the hotel. The problem was solved but we had to move hotels instead of being settled for two nights.

Review 15:The way the hotel let us know there had been a mistake and we were only booked in for one night instead of two and managed to find us a bed for the first night in another hotel. We were still a hundred miles away when contact was made.

Review 16:The shower pressure not good (came out the shower feeling like you still needed a shower!) Although it was lovely stay overall, considering we had recent spent the same amount in Greenwich village NY for a fab room with all the 'bells and whistles', this place did feel slightly overpriced for what you got... that however may just say more about UK travel and tourism!

Review 17:Staff were very friendly, general design of the place was nice and quirky, food in the evening restaurant was really good (would definitely go back to the restaurant again if in the area!), very cute and relaxed pub too.

Review 18:Wifi asked me to re-login every single time I used it.

Review 19:Great location, I was given a lovely big room, enjoyed watching DVDs from free library, breakfast options vast and very good.

Review 20:Our room was very dark, with small windows which don't really open and no view. (Room 8 is apparently the only twin room available). Wifi needed constant re-loading with password etc.

Review 21:Location is fantastic, bar and breakfast and atmosphere very nice, bathroom spotless, comfortable beds, pleasant staff.

Review 22:Although free wifi everywhere it dropped often and you had to login in each time. Not a massive problem really.

Review 23:Great breakfast and can recommend the food highly! Good value for money I think and great location

Review 24:Wifi was annoying as had to put in email address and accept term every time you wanted to use it, a small thing I know. Evening meal, although delicious a very small portion for the £20 cost.

Review 25:Beautiful bedroom in the heart of beautiful Tetbury. An ideal location for our visit to Highgrove. And a wonderful relaxing place for a rare break without the kiddies.

Review 26:The room was was tired and scruffy, needs a redecorating and a good update. Food was ordinary and not at all inspiring. Breakfast, I waited for ten minutes at the table, no staff arrived at all, so left !

Review 27:The bar was nice, the public areas looked good!

Review 28:Think breakfast was a little expensive for what it was but not a deal breaker.

Review 29:The whole atmosphere of the snooty fox was amazing. Nothing was too much trouble.

Review 30:Not a bad experience really, just that bed sagged a little in the middle!

Review 31:Being in the middle of the lovely town centre and the ambience of the hotel itself.

Review 32:Unluckily the staff have to work with poor cooking and a wine list that shows no interest in value and quality. The atmosphere that this hotel had years ago has been replaced with typical Cotswold mediocrity making it pretty boring and pretty average.

Review 33:Luckily Snooty Fox has friendly, helpful staff and a central location making it a good bet for a short visit

Review 34:Our room was over the bar and therefore noisy when we were in our room. This remained that way until the bar closed. Our mattress was very bouncy and whenever one of us moved in bed the other was flung upwards.

Review 35:Our room was clean, well appointed, had a lovely sitting room area on a different level to the bedroom. Unintererupted WiFi and good TV reception and station selection.

Review 36:I liked the feel and old world charm of the place. Felt very at home there. The Staff kind friendly' The food very good and the room was comfortable. I enjoyed my stay there.

Review 37:There was no where to eat when we arrived we were told not to use the dining room yet other guests staying did. When we got a table it took 20 mins for them to clear the table. My husband fell through the fire exit door which we had to use for exit of our room hurting his neck and was badly shaken there were no signs to say mind the step. It said in the book in the room that if assistance was needed in an emergency to let them know. I did mention this and the girl said you had to ring - amazing if there was a fire and phone and electrics are out. They also shut the bar early where you could order food without telling anyone, but did open up for us when we complained. There was little choice for breakfast as they had ran out of ingredients the day before. Basically, this is a glorified pub which charges exuberant room prices and are not interested in their guests. No lifts or disabled services available.

Review 38:The trip home

Review 39:Shower pressure was awful! Room wasn't huge but was comfy enough

Review 40:Comfy friendly atmosphere. Staff were helpful and the food was amazing. Smoked salmon and scrambled egg muffin breakfast a particular highlight.

Review 41:Friendly staff, excellent room and breakfast. The evening meal ( there seemed to be very few other eating places in Tetbury) was very adequate but if I lived in the area it not somewhere I would rush to visit.

Review 42:The only complaint was we were not aware that it was public car parking.

Review 43:The Location was brilliant and the building was fantastic. Staff very helpful and courteous.

Review 44:Decor, a well replenished box of tea infusions, fresh coffe, chocolate and tea, complementary water, dressing gowns, a separate sitting area with another tv

Review 45:Our group booked three rooms for a one night stay for a local wedding. We all required a early check in. The hotel guaranteed us two rooms but said they would try for the third also and when we arrived early all rooms were ready which was great. Rooms are nice they have everything you need. Thanks for a great stay.

Review 46:The beds....... New ones or need Toppers to be improved

Review 47:The friendly relaxed bar and breakfast set up in the snug so we could be with our dog could be with us

Review 48:Our room being 1 hour late for the early check in that we had booked because of being 7½ months pregnant. A dog yapping in the next room.

Review 49:Pub/restaurant and hallways very well presented

Review 50:Rooms need a little updating. The corridors have been beautifully decorated so I am sure the rooms will be next on the list!

Review 51:Excellent location in the lovely town of Tetbury. Very welcoming hotel. Food of a high standard. Lovely old building.

Review 52:Room decor was a little tired, but the facilities and cleanliness more than made up for it.

Review 53:Hotel staff were very welcoming, Mandy on reception was very helpful at check in. All staff were brilliant throughout our stay. Everywhere was very clean. Room was nice, had good selection of tea and coffee.

Review 54:We felt the whole place was a bit tired and in need of some TLC. More attention needs to be paid to the dusting of the rooms. Top of the bin in the bathroom, vacuum where the back and seat of chairs meet, carpets along skirting boards. The window in my room was bolted open because the frame was in need of repair, the only protection from the elements was the internal secondary sliding window. Lovely curtains but they are too long and cover the radiator, they block the heat from getting into the room. it was the only source of heat on a cold night.

Review 55:Staff were pleasant.

Review 56:No free parking nearby only costly public car park. Room very dark and hurriedly readied for our visit. Breakfast was standard traditional fayre but nothing special. Very expensive for what it was but it was Cheltenham gold cup week. We had been spoilt by other much nicer hotels that were half the cost.

Review 57:Characterful building in the heart of Tetbury.

Review 58:Room Not as shownonline stains on every wall above and below dado rail. Wall paper coming from walls in places very disapointing

Review 59:Lovely staff and good breakfast

Review 60:I booked a twin room but was then told this wasn't guaranteed. My friend's room was lovely with a big bed and sofa. The room I shared was tiny and nothing in comparison even though the price was the same. When I used the jacuzzi bath, lots of scale came out of the jets, not very appealing.Staff didn't seemed interested in their clients,no friendly welcome. We all felt a bit like we were putting them out even being there. Dinner menu was very retro, quite expensive and my friend was given carrots that were so al dente she had to hacksaw them in half!

Review 61:Location of the hotel was excellent although it lacked parking. The log fire in the bar area was lovely.

Review 62:Cream tea not up to scratch, coffee arrived at an inconvenient time.

Review 63:Lovely open fire on a wintry afternoon. The food was excellent. Good wine and beer selection

Review 64:The evening meal main course (I had duck breast) was served in a bowl, so whenever I put my knife and fork down to continue the conversation, they fell into the bowl and the handles got covered in food. What's wrong with using a plate?

Review 65:Comfortable sofas, warm open fire and games in the lounge. A good wine selection and tasty, well priced food.

Review 66:Room cold hot water in rooms appalling lack of staff when required no parking facility Noise at weekend from disco breakfast availability when needed was lacking.

Review 67:Not a great deal.

Review 68:The room for the price was very small and the bathroom tiny. Would have liked the choice of a continental as well as a full English breakfast.

Review 69:Pleasant staff, good food. The room was tastefully decorated. The staff tried very hard to make stay comfortable.

Review 70:The a snooty Fox has recently had new Managers who do not appear to have particularly good hospitality skills. This is very unfortunate since the dining staff, bar staff and all the housekeeping staff are very pleasant.

Review 71:We have stayed at The Snooty Fox many times. The general staff are very friendly and welcoming and dinner is a real treat. We always book a four poster room as they are very spacious. We had a wonderful weekend.

Review 72:I was a little miffed that the Breakfast was not included in my original booking, this probably reflectrs on the booking website more so than the Snooty Fox. I am unsure it was made entirley clear when booking as I would have opted for Breakfast to be included.

Review 73:The stay was top, we enjoyed the Hotel and the comfort was good. The Breakfast was top notch which plays a big part in my judgement of a Hotel/B&B. Top Stay and would deff go again.

Review 74:waiting for new carpets room needed a bit of updating poor hot water supply breakfast poor for the money

Review 75:old and quirky barman/waiter very helpful

Review 76:Checkin time... we arrived a little early, and we even mentioned that we would arrive early through booking.com, but, no option of early checkin was provided (not even 30 mins before). The lounge was occupied for some other function. So, we had to unnecessarily roam around in the rain. It spoiled our trip plan to some extent.

Review 77:Only minor grumble was terrible water pressure in the bathroom, which made showering a long job!

Review 78:Amazing value for such a nice hotel. Bedroom had everything we needed, even a jacuzzi bath which was a bonus! Food in the restaurant was also top notch. Would definitely recommend!

Review 79:The place needs a designer overhaul. A few minor touches and professional improvements like playing background music at the right level in the restaurant.

Review 80:Staff were friendly and tried to provide a good service. Breakfast was excellent.

Review 81:The man at reception was not very welcoming and on the last morning breakfast was a bit disorganised because they had another group to entertain at the guests expense.

Review 82:The location

Review 83:Leaving! Ha!

Review 84:The food, the beers , yes I am a lady! All on the doorstep of the best ....little quirky shops, and just happy people who make you feel so welcome! See you very soon!

Review 85:The state of the carpets in the corridors. Room fairly small and only one chair. We were told new carpet was on order.

Review 86:Staff very helpful and pleasant. Breakfast good quality, but I thought a little expensive.

Review 87:It was not obvious to me that Wi Fi was available. This was not crucial to my trip but it would have been nice to know.

Review 88:Food, location facilities, efficiency of staff.

Review 89:Slightly difficult to find parking, but staff were very helpful.

Review 90:Room/bathroom, excellent. We were upgraded. Dinner very good. Choice of breakfast and quality was first class. It was very quiet at night so very relaxing.

Review 91:the carpets in the corridors upstairs off the bedrooms were extremely shabby and worn away. It is for this reason that we probably would not return. Downstairs decoration was very good but upstairs all needed updating

Review 92:we liked the location

Review 93:Minor really minor suggestion there is no hotel parking and although there are lots of car parks I arrived during a the town market and they were all full. It would be extra benefit if the hotel emailed through a map of the town showing the car parks.

Review 94:Beautiful hotel with fantastic rooms. I loved the 4poster bed and the spa bath.

Review 95:Traffic very noisy although not hotels fault. Service at breakfast a bit on slow side but breakfast was very good

Review 96:We booked last minute and were very warmly welcomed on check in with useful info on where to park (Tetbury not the easiest of places for parking). We booked a table in restaurant and discovered it was a tasting menu with wine. It was excellent with some lovely wines provided as part of the deal. Room was clean and comfortable. Thank you

Review 97:Decoration and carpets seemed a bit tired, in need of freshening up. Service when we arrived could have been friendlier. Sausages served at breakfast were awful. Expected a little better for the money.

Review 98:Great location, lovely town. Room had great facilties (kettle, coffee pot etc). Very elegant building. Nice breakfast (except the sausages).

Review 99:Being awoken by a Diesel engine directly outside our bedroom window running a crane to fit roof trusses at 06.45 am on a Sunday morning when paying and checking out no apology or any reduction in our bill.

Review 100:The room was small and the bathroom needed contortionist skills; the cold water tap kept on dripping and the loo didn't flush properly. I was also woken up on a Sunday morning by building work just under my window on a site of which the hotel must have been aware. Breakfast was very mediocre: there was no natural yoghurt and the black pudding and sausage were very bready. The coffee was good though.

Review 101:Some of the staff were very friendly and helpful. There's a good choice of beverages in the bedroom, including a cafetière with ground coffee.

Review 102:Top of stairs carpet is filthy. The powder room could do with updating. No English muffins available despite the fact that a bakers was open directly opposite hotel.

Review 103:Liked the staff who checked out a National Trust property for me before we even checked in. The four poster bed upgrade.

Review 104:Room was very small for a double and shower room could only take one at a time. We said so at check out and he said they were "compact". Just say no to this size room Also hot water had to run for 5mins plus (his instruction) so huge waste of water with tap fully open

Review 105:Central and preserved old building

Review 106:We found it really hard to find anything to criticize. The biggest single problem with the Hotel is the lack of Car Parking but this was not a problem for us as we had arranged parking with a contact in the town. It would be a difficult hotel for anyone who is disabled and there are stairs up to the bedroom floor and even a step to enter the hotel. We had no problem but others might do.

Review 107:It was ideal for our purposes. The staff were welcoming and helpful and the room, booked through Booking.com on an offer, exceeded our expectations. The breakfast was very good and lots of it. The hotel's position in the middle of Tetbury was perfect for us. We thought it was very good value for money.

Review 108:Decor was a bit tired and all areas upstairs were in need of decorating. The mattress in our room definitely needed replacing!

Review 109:The breakfast was good, local produce used. Quality of food at dinner was also very good.

Review 110:Dismissive staff. No one told us when breakfast was (bar sign said till 11.30). Arrived down before 10 but told we'd have to eat in bar and order off menu rather than buffet. Fine by us. Though when breakfast came, it was missing fried bread/toast, as described on menu. Asked politely about it and were dismissively told that as we'd missed breakfast we'd basically get what we were given and could order further items at extra cost. Wouldn't have been so bad if our friends hadn't come down 20 minutes later and got exactly what they ordered (inc fried bread!). Obviously just couldn't be bothered to sort out minor thing for us. Minor thing that put dampner on fine experience otherwise.

Review 111:Location in central tetbury. Convenient for nearby wedding (though don't expect taxis in Tetbury to work after 8pm on Bank holiday Sunday). Lovely building and bar area. Staff did let us get key long before check in as had to rush out to wedding. Small but perfectly acceptable room for price.

Review 112:We didn't know there was a limit on the evening meal price when choosing from the menu ,,,so had to pay the difference. Someone should have explained to us how the dinner cost worked.

Review 113:Very central, lovely building. Food good but a bit expensive.

Review 114:The only slight criticism is the decor and carpets which are tired BUT the cleanliness compensates for this. This hotel is spotlessly clean.

Review 115:Just about everything. This ancient hotel is quirky, full of atmosphere and individual rooms. The dining room is lovely, beautifully pannelled and each of the bedrooms are different with given names. The food is excellent with breakfasts to die for.The situation is superb, very central with easy commutes to Highgrove,Bath and Chippenham.

Review 116:Bathroom was very small and hot water took about 2 mins to come through. Decor, especially carpets looked very tired. Breakfast was a bit slow in morning, but there was only one member of staff in the dining room, plus the scrambled eggs were burnt! Don't think overall it was worth the money we paid, have stayed in a lot better for less.

Review 117:Good central location in Tetbury, room was decent enough size and had everything you needed. Use of DVD library was added bonus too. Breakfast was good, but not without faults.

Review 118:Carpet in communal area look very worn out and is crying out to be replaced or steam cleaned

Review 119:The location in centre of Tetbury The staff in general Good English breakfast Good tea making facilities Clean bath room and clean towels

Review 120:No provision for parking, a question, "have you a car" would have been helpful. Not busy but had a little wait for breakfast and tables not cleared. Picky but a little more attention would be on top of this.

Review 121:Friendly staff, well appointed rooms and public areas.

Review 122:Some street noise and the dinner menu and wine list were less impressive than when I booked earlier in the year

Review 123:Good location, atmosphere, friendly staff

Review 124:A little dated and room one could do with a revamp, bathroom ok. Bed edges lean so mattress could do with replacing. also carpet could do with a clean/replacing.

Review 125:Staff were excellent, food good, loved the facilities in the bedroom coffee etc excellent. Excellent Location, nice beer. Good hearty breakfast. Quirky floors in the bedroom, on the lean, but with beer you get the same feeling, Lol. Would recommend a stay, Tetbury very picturesque.

Review 126:The room was comfortable, clean and good value The staff were friendly and helpful Breakfast was excellent and again good value Although the room decor was a bit dated it was still very acceptable and very clean

Review 127:Room was decorated nicely, but the colour scheme made it very dark - bathroom was nice and bright though. Food was very good and served well, particularly the nibbles and bread, but very limited menu, particularly for veggies, so I think if our stay had been longer, we would have gone somewhere else for our evening meal.

Review 128:Hospitality of the Staff was great Room clean and very comfortable Conveniently located No car park, but parking was very close by. Breakfast was excellent and service quick and efficient.

Review 129:Our room was adequate but the plumbing, particularly the severely leaking cold tap in our basin was below par and the toilet flush was difficult. We were disturbed at 3.45 am by a very noisy delivery to the bakery opposite.

Review 130:The general atmosphere was good and we enjoyed the food.

Review 131:Most things. Overpriced room for its size. The fixtures and finishes were old, tired and worn. Tiny bathroom with a shower that took 10 minutes for any hot water to come through.

Review 132:It's location

Review 133:There is nothing about the Snooty Fox that we did not enjoy.

Review 134:This was our fifth visit to the Snooty Fox and a very last minute decision this time. Under new management the Snooty Fox grows from strength to strength. The staff were very friendly and seemed united as a team. The restaurant was superbly staffed and the food even more delicious that what we have come to expect. The bedroom had been decorated since our last stay and everything was just perfect. We have already booked our next weekend away.

Review 135:no lift, or car park!!!!! Snack menu in the evening restricted.> We had a lunch on the way. would have prefered a better chioce of light meals or snacksk

Review 136:Staff friendly and professional! hotel clean, room comfortable!

Review 137:The snooty fox was a bit tired and could do with a little TLC but was clean.. Could have done without cleaners mopping while we were having breakfast.

Review 138:The snooty fox is well located to see the loveliest parts of the cotswolds. Nice bar area and restaurant looked nice although we did not eay there.

Review 139:Rooms dated, shower was very poor pressure, although did have a jacuzzi bath

Review 140:Good value for money, food good, good sized comfortable bed.

Review 141:A friendly hotel, popular with locals. The bars were warm and welcoming. A great place to eat!
