Reviews for The Yewdale Inn
Review 1:Cannot fault it.
Review 2:Brilliant location, clean and comfortable room, friendly staff, delicious food, a perfect Christmas holiday for us or for any time of year.
Review 3:Nothing to complain about
Review 4:Staff couldn't do enough for us, very helpful. Great location for walking and great food. Even laid on Christmas dinner
Review 5:Electrical sockets were somehow low.
Review 6:Nice cosy room and very relaxing ambient. Food was within walking reach with sumptuous western meals from within Yewdale Inn itself. Delicious Indian food was also found just a stone throw away.
Review 7:Nothing, apart from the worst weather the lakes has ever seen, but that's not the hotel's fault.
Review 8:Lovely hotel in an excellent location. Lovely evening meal on our first evening and excellent breakfast served by two lovely friendly ladies. The bar staff, (including Jeff the owner), treat you as though you're a regular and to be fair the regulars are really friendly too.
Review 9:Unable to find any faults top place .....
Review 10:Yewdale inn is in my view the best place I've stayed in a long time, top marks to all concerned even made my little dog (chihuahua) pippin very welcome...credit to the owner on a well run house....
Review 11:Only that the wifi didn't work in the room
Review 12:Staff were amazing. So friendly and did all they could to make the stay great. Hotel was clean and food was nice.
Review 13:Boiling the kettle which was provided for morning tea was to close to smoke alarm set it off twice
Review 14:The view we had from are clean spacious bedroom the meals and breakfast were the best we have had
Review 15:After an initial problem with pre-booked parking (there are only 4 onsite car parks for guests and pub patrons with a first in best dressed policy), we quickly settled in and had a great time with no further issues. Please Note: the issue was dealt with quickly and we were apologised to.
Review 16:The staff and people of the town. Loved the atmosphere, room and pub. Fantastic!
Review 17:Location was perfect we climbed the old man, price was perfect for the lake district, staff were really lovely and polite and we as a young couple were made to feel very welcome thank you for a wonderful experience
Review 18:Not much pressure in the shower.
Review 19:Beautiful central location for the lakes and walking, very kind owner who spoke fluent Portuguese. Super clean room and nice big bar and outside terraces and free parking.
Review 20:The only problem was that the WiFi was only available once during the time we were there.
Review 21:We had an excellent dinner in the bar, and the breakfasts are the best I've ever experienced! Staff were very helpful and friendly. Ideal location. Just loved it, thank you so much.
Review 22:Only problem and it was my only fault we were on top floor and it was a bit to much as I have a breathing condition, but as I say my fault I never thought to ask for a first floor room
Review 23:Everything, lovely room, great food, friendly staff
Review 24:excellent location. staff could not do enough to help. good breakfast and plenty on the menu for evening meals. location in the centre of Coniston is great for sitting outside and people watching.
Review 25:Very genuine, friendly and helpful staff. Excellent location. Lovely room with the bonus of a view of Coniston Old Man. We were only staying one night, on a cycle tour, so also ate at the Hotel in the evening. Service and food were both very good. Breakfast was excellent and overall the Yewdale provided a conmfortable stay and excellent value for money. We will definitely return.
Review 26:Unfortunately the kettle in our room set the fire alarm every time we used it…
Review 27:We got there wet after a long trekking day, the manager took all our wet stuff (including muddy boots) and dried them during the night. Great service without addition charge – and needless to say it saved us the next day!
Review 28:This is a family run hotel, and they obviously take great pride in their business. So they should. Could not fault the rooms, cleanliness, comfort or food. All staff are happy, friendly, welcoming and so helpful. The best hotel we have stayed in by far. We will definitely be returning.
Review 29:From the time we arrived to when we left we found the manager and staff friendly and helpful, nothing was to much trouble We had a room at the top of the hotel, good exercise but fairly quite, wifi does not reach but you can sit in the bar area or dinning room.
Review 30:The breakfast not available till 8am. As we had to leave early they were not prepared to do it any earlier, however, the staff were apologetic and prepared a take away breakfast which was good of them.
Review 31:Hotel very comfortable and location fantastic.
Review 32:Nothing
Review 33:Extremely welcoming and friendly staff. Nothing was too much. Breakfasts were great, so too was the traditional pub food and local ales. Ollie was a great host!
Review 34:Service in restaurant and at breakfast a little slow but food good and reasonably priced. Breakfast starts a little late for families at 8.30. Room a bit chilly in the morning as although radiators were meant to be thermostat controlled in room they would not heat up
Review 35:Nice and comfortable
Review 36:Wifi was great downstairs but non-existent in the room, although that's hardly the end of the world.
Review 37:Great location, right in the heart of the village. We ate at the pub both nights too, and the food was really good. A fantastic base to explore the lake and climb the 'Old Man'. Really helpful and friendly staff.
Review 38:Lacked parking but plenty around
Review 39:was there for 3 days Staff were friendly and helpful Hotel is right in the middle of town With great food and beer
Review 40:Slightly glitchy wifi but that's perhaps due to a stone building and a room on the top floor...
Review 41:Incredibly friendly staff and very willing to accommodate. Very comfortable and clean room space. A pleasure to stay.
Review 42:The room was pretty shabby and not well equipped. Not adequate for the amount we paid. Breakfast service was very slow, twenty five minutes from ordering to anything appearing and we were in a hurry.
Review 43:Friendly staff, location, parking place
Review 44:as we were late arriving we were given the attic bedroom (8) three floors up no lift ,not the biggest room i,ve., slept in expected more for the £190 two night stay
Review 45:cant get better location for attractions friendly staff and the best breakfast ever
Review 46:An attentive staff was responsive to our many questions. They pleasantly offered their own suggestions without being overbearing or prescriptive. Overall they made us fel at home.
Review 47:That I couldn't stay longer
Review 48:Friendly staff, good food, clean rooms, gorgeous beds for aching bones, good choice of beers. I couldn't wish for a better base for exploring the best area in Lakeland.
Review 49:Parking is a bit of a faff. There are only 4 parking spaces otherwise you have to park up a road a little way off, not ideal for lugging bags around etc, but it is free parking either way.
Review 50:Liked the friendly welcome and the attention and care from the staff and Jeff the owner during our stay. Nice to spend time chatting at the bar with the equally friendly locals finding out about the area. Great location for the central lakes and although the hotel does have a nice bar you are also across the road from a great pub too with fab beer. Loved the new Bistro in Coniston ' Steam' which serves modern and delicious food.
Review 51:A busy pub serving good food and beer. It was a pleasure to see many of the local people using the bar in the evening with not a mobile phone in view being used.
Review 52:The wifi is a bit hit and miss.
Review 53:Very welcoming staff. The room was really light and airy with a fantastic view of the Old Man. The food is great both in the cafe and the bar. Handy having parking despite being right in the centre of Coniston
Review 54:Only critism would be lack of car parking facility. Didnt cause my party any problems but I would expect issues in peak season.
Review 55:Right in town. Staff very friendly & helpful
Review 56:Wifi was very hit and miss in our bedroom which was on the top floor. Not a major issue but a problem when trying to make plans.
Review 57:Superb location with very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent food.
Review 58:No bad experiences but a little limited on parking space but we managed nicely.
Review 59:The staff were lovely and very helpful. the food was good but the Y cafe does not have a lot of atmosphere. However the staff more than made up for it. We would visit again.
Review 60:Convenient location for walking, pubs and cafes. Very warm, comfortable and dog friendly. Nice room with fab views. Good breakfast choice including a vege option.
Review 61:evening meal (fish & Chips) wasn't very good compared to the Crown down the road, while the lamb shank was good the order of side veg was extremely poor, bland soggy green beans & unprepared carrots.
Review 62:Everything was of a high standard (apart from eve meal) friendly staff. very good breakfast, clean room. Eve meal let the hotel down.
Review 63:Very small dislike here and might sound like I'm being picky but the heating was on all of the time and was sweltering in the room
Review 64:The staff were great The food was great and reasonably priced The room was great & bed was comfy Wonderful view of the old man from window
Review 65:None but parking could be a problem at busy times if there is no space at the hotel it is about £8 for 24 hours in the public car park.
Review 66:Everyone was very friendly and welcoming and you were almost treated like a friend who had stayed on numerous occasions. Even down to discussing weather forecasts and whether it would be safe to do certain hikes on the fells. Backed by comfortable and warm accommodation and good real ale this must be the best hotel I have stayed at in the area and would recommend the Yew Tree for a relaxing break whether it is fell walking you are into or just want to chill out in relaxing beautiful surroundings.
Review 67:The windows in the room couldn't be opened so if you like fresh air through the night, this room (No 4) isn't the best.
Review 68:Staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was clean and the bed one of the most comfortable yet. Most enjoyable stay.
Review 69:Two televisions in the bar areas not necessary we think.
Review 70:Probably the best beer in Coniston but other pubs very close by. Warm, comfortable hotel at a very reasonable price including breakfast. Snacks and meals available.
Review 71:Bathroom could do with a refub...
Review 72:Booked in the morning before arriving, great value for money, rooms clean and tidy. Friendly and helpful staff at reception, bar and cafe as well as the owner. Breakfast was great, fresh, lots of choice and outstanding in comparison to places where you pay a lot more. Would totally recommend for a break.
