Reviews for Days Inn Taunton

Review 1:The bath was really dirty and there was a lot more noise than I'd expected from the motorway.

Review 2:This place is great value for money, it's not the cleanest or the most comfortable, but it was a good sized room with a double bed, sofa, television, shower and bath.

Review 3:Beds very uncomfortable, could not sleep with my husband due to the softness of the mattress (slide into him). Even the children's mattresses were horrible.

Review 4:Size of room, very nice to have two rooms for the children could go to bEd before us. Quiet and convienent.

Review 5:Mattresses were very soft and the place was quite noisy. Although I do appreciate you get what you pay for and we were travelling with our dog so were limited to where we could stay.

Review 6:Facilities were excellent with a Costa coffee and shops right next door to the hotel.

Review 7:I thought the shower was a little old fashioned; it couldn't be taken off the hook. The only place to get food was from the services next door, which was good for variety (ish) but pricey.

Review 8:The room was fine. The bed was comfy and the room had a desk for me to work at. The cleaning was good and my room was tidy every day.Staff were reasonably friendly. Set well back from the motorway, the noise wasn't as bad as I expected it to be.

Review 9:Worst night ever in any hotel due to drunken group of guests up all night constantly slamming doors shouting swearing etc.and no staff on duty to deal with it. This was then compounded by no staff on site when checking out waited 25 mins and gave up would not recommend or use again. Spoilt a weekend away for a family Christmas gathering all to tired from lack of sleep to enjoy.

Review 10:It was convenient for an overnight stay to break up a journey

Review 11:There were issues in the hotel duirng the night with drunk guests fighting - nobody at reception to complain to either at the time or when checking out the next day

Review 12:Nothing

Review 13:Ideal stop off point to break a long motorway journey. Easy to find and free parking! Clean, comfortable, warm room with everything needed for an overnight stay, on ground floor as requested. Friendly, helpful staff. Good cooked breakfast at the motorway cafe. Excellent value for money.

Review 14:When I called the hotel for assistance with directions the receptionist was very unhelpful, hung up on me and then did not pick up the phone when I called back.

Review 15:The postcode directed to a back entrance that did not enable entrance! 45 mins I found the entrance.

Review 16:Poor and unhelpful welcome. No one responded to the buzzer when pressed. Waited for 15 minutes before I had to flag someone down. Staff unhelpful about offering a place to get changed (was on way to a funeral) The McDonalds toilets was a poor offering. Bath was filthy looking. Mould on walls. Electrically unsafe towel rail with "Failed" stickers.

Review 17:Location. Fairly competitive price.

Review 18:To get to the accommodation from n5 south is a nightmare, sat nav sent me to back entrance for staff only. Lovely duty manager opened barrier for me. Bed/pillow was too soft for me.

Review 19:Friendly staff, plenty of parking

Review 20:Shower was luke warm, when we tried to turn the heater down we found we had turned it to be cold, Not sure why we have to pay £10 each for a dog though.

Review 21:The convenience for going to the Somerset carnival.

Review 22:The room was way to hot the bath room floor was ripped up along the bath panel and room looked like it needed a fresh bit off paint

Review 23:Like the size off rooms

Review 24:Trouble opening door with key. Some men were rowing in corridor, but scary, staff took a while to come and sort it. No decaf coffee.

Review 25:Nice helpful staff. Comfy beds. Good TVs with variet of channels.

Review 26:I missed the junction and ended up in exeter before I could turn round, on return the access was really poorly signposted and when we arrived the barrier was down so I had to leave kids alone in the car to run to reception and get them to put up the barrier.

Review 27:The space, the family room was lovely

Review 28:The bed was terrible, mattress needs changing. This caused a horrible nights sleep. Bathroom looked old and tired. No one on reception in morning to purchase reduce vouchers for breakfast.

Review 29:The staff member on reception very welcoming and friendly

Review 30:Perhaps a box to post keys?

Review 31:Easy to access off the motorway. Easy to check in, delightful receptionist. It does what it says on the tin. Bed and shower thanks.

Review 32:Twin beds, on the second floor and no lift. Not ideal for an arthriticnewlywed couple. Located 6 miles from town. Misleading ad on booking.comas we were trying to do family research in the town of Taunton and hadtravel halfway around the world to do it.

Review 33:The beds were comfortable and the room was very clean

Review 34:Location at service station too difficult to use as base. Would be OK as stop over to Devon and beyond! Heating difficult to control beds soft

Review 35:Friendly staff , bedroom warm , duvets!

Review 36:Would have liked to have had a little choice of breakfast before hitting the road, even toast would have been good.

Review 37:Nice clean spacious room, tea, coffee TV & Hairdryer provided together with Wi-Fi

Review 38:Received parking ticket despite giving my registration number when wechecked in that was subsequently cancelled but we had the hassle to sortit out which should not be the case for customers

Review 39:Advice given for shortcut to get back into hotel after going out todinner

Review 40:In spite of double glazing it was noisy from the motorway and I eventually used some earplugs to get a good night's sleep.

Review 41:The room was pleasant, clean and roomy. The bed was very comfortable. The tv worked easily.

Review 42:The lady at the front desk was the nicest person; we had a good bit of banter. Lovely stay I was made to feel so welcome; the room was clean, fresh towels; fresh bed. Working TV, great night's sleep.

Review 43:Not a bad experience just that one has togo to the Road chef for the big breakfast... or an evening nosh. OK if it's not raining. Parking is in the general carpark but the receptionist gives your car the OK to stay .

Review 44:most of it. Large rooms clean, bed gorgeous. QUIET!!! good facilities for tea/coffee etc. in general I was most impressed.... Just remember to order your breakfast at checkin!

Review 45:Some days cleaning was perfect, some days not. It might depend on the stuff. In our opinion the hotel has been overheated. Our room was a little bit to loud, because you can hear the cars from the motorway.

Review 46:It's a typical motel with free car park and not much money for a family room. So you get what you pay.

Review 47:It was just what we needed for an overnight stay, staff were very friendly, the beds were comfy, enabling us to get a goodnight's sleep. we would difinately stay there again.

Review 48:The service station lets it down found the staff in there very rude at times and the quality of the food was poor also

Review 49:Perfect for a overnight stop hotel staff very pleasant

Review 50:The Reception girl (Not English) was rude on my check in...very rude. It was not explained on my booking that the 'food available' was in the Motor Way services. I like a wine with my meal in the evening. NO chance !

Review 51:The Hotel was clean and comfortable and parking (When explained) also good.

Review 52:The wash basin in bathroom was badly cracked (looked like a spider's web)and had no plug, the bath was very badly stained and chipped.Noise level was so bad we had virtually no sleep, catch missing off window so did not seal properly and mould all round it which made our chests bad .

Review 53:Tea and coffee facilities were well stocked. The lady on reception was lovely.

Review 54:The beds were absolutely appalling, so uncomfortable, when you have had a long journey and have another the next day you need a good nights sleep. We sat up and read most of the night.

Review 55:Location was ideal

Review 56:When we arrived at the Days Inn we were asked if we would like to drive back to Taunton to a Travelodge. The girl explained they had a problem with one room, the manager then arrived and said they did not have any booking for us even though we showed him our confirmation, he also said he did not know whether the Travelodge would have any rooms. They eventually found us a room with a standard double bed even though we had booked a twin. No apology was offered.

Review 57:Receptionist was unhappy and displaying water etc which can't be bought is a very silly idea.

Review 58:Convenient location, although sat nav struggled to find correct entrance. Clean and suitable for a one night stay.

Review 59:The room really needed an upgrade. Toilet hard to flush. Towel rail burnt out. Pillows need replacing.

Review 60:The staff were helpful. Ground floor room. Easy parking.

Review 61:I can understand reason for not offering food, being on a motorway service station site, but the latter's food choice for breakfasts was pretty dire.

Review 62:Ground floor room ideal for one disabled person

Review 63:Area outside the Inn was littered with cigarettes butts-bin outside was not emptied during our 5 day stay-when doors open cigarette smoke came inside-area for smokers and animals smelt of same when walking into service area from Inn-bit off putting.

Review 64:Lina was very professional-closeness to M5-service centre had everything you needed for food/petrol. Ok for overnight stay.

Review 65:There no one at the Reception in the morning when I left at 8am. That I had to buy my Snacks at WHSmith. The Snacks at the Reception are only for Member of the Day´s Inn Reward Program.

Review 66:That I had a Bed to sleep in.

Review 67:The hotel is in need of maintenance. In 6 night's we couldn't get the heated towel rail repaired.

Review 68:Good location for touring the area. Lots of good local bars and restaurants available close at hand.

Review 69:Mattress was ridiculously soft pillows too. The bathroom was not clean enough. The room on entering was far too hot and window was open. Waste of energy.

Review 70:Location.

Review 71:The receptionist was very helpful with request for extra pillows. Good location for us as it really was just a place to lay our heads for a few hours. Arrived at 21.30 and had left by 07.00

Review 72:We explained we would not be back until very late, but there was no response from any night staff to let us in, fortunately the front door had not been locked properly & we were able to open it & get in.

Review 73:The bed was ok

Review 74:step over bath to have a shower in a disabled room and beds were low for a disabled person .

Review 75:Assistance that we received from the gentleman who checked us in was excellent .

Review 76:No plug for wash basin. We were coming up from Devon and went in services on the left hand side of the M5 and could not find the Days Inn. Called at petrol station who said that we had to follow a service road to the other of the M5. No clear instructions signed. No breakfast room.

Review 77:The room was very warm, despite turning off the heating. It made sleeping uncomfortable.

Review 78:Staff were welcoming and helpful. The room was clean and functional, ideal for an overnight stay.

Review 79:I filled up ketle with water switched it on and there was a big bang and flash. It had blown. The lead had split open. My husband went to get new ketle explaining what a fright I had got and yet they came back and asked why he had cut the lead! There were scorch marks on the tray and on the wall! Why would they think anybody would want to electrocute themselves? I was lucky I was not electrocuted.l

Review 80:Difficult to get to from northbound M5 - sat nav took me through several miles of very narrow country lanes. Hotel website should show how to get from northbound services to the hotel on the southbound services.

Review 81:Access from south a bit confusing with minimal signage.

Review 82:Staff very pleasant and helpful. Clean and comfortable room. Lovely hot shower. Good food at Fresh food outlet.

Review 83:Could have done with more pillows. Noisey neighbours. Bathroom could do with a touch up.

Review 84:Spacious rooms. Shops and eateries. Receptionist was lovely. Lots of parking.

Review 85:Hard to get an answer in daytime on the phone befor arrival on numerous ocassions

Review 86:Comfy rooms and beds and bath with shower and gels applied.if we had a issue it was sorted immediately....(I e hair dryer even though was my ignorance on how to work it)

Review 87:the fact that the inn didn't provide a continental breakfast inhouse. With a dog found it inconvenient to have to go to the services for food, although the fresh food company provided first class food.

Review 88:the convenience of coming off the motorway straight to the inn.

Review 89:Approach from the north bound junction was a bit confusing as the motel is on the south bound side.

Review 90:I arrived quite late but the gentleman was very helpful. I had a disability room which was the only room available. I had a very good nights sleep after a 300 mile drive.

Review 91:The room although mostly clean was in a very poor state. The shower head was blocked up and didn't flow for a shower, the side of the bath on the floor was coming away. The whole room was generally very run down.

Review 92:The receptionist, Eileen was excellent. Very helpful and friendly.

Review 93:Room rather dated .bathroom extremely poor.in need of replacing urgently.wouldnt want to put my children in the bath.was a family room.wouldnt recommed for young children.nothing but motorway services and places to eat.

Review 94:Friendly helpful staff.bed very comfortable.

Review 95:Great size room with ensuite, clean, people very friendly and helpful. Vouchers a great idea as no dining facilities. Perfect for an en route stay, would definitely use again.

Review 96:It was impossible to have a shower--- the water was too hot and could not be adjusted. I feel I have paid for facilities that were not usable, so would hope for some recompense.

Review 97:Comfortable Bed and Room Pleasant and helpful staff

Review 98:Literally slept in hotel, didn't spend any waking back hours there so can't think of anything I didn't like.

Review 99:Charming staff, even at 1:45am Shower was wonderfully powerful and hot

Review 100:Only one pillow each and when we asked for more we were told no. Only two towels in the room when there were 2 adults and 2 children

Review 101:Good value for money and in a good spot for Tiverton train station

Review 102:Smell of urine in bathroom from toilet. Someone had been smoking in the room before we arrived. Newest towels in bathroom. Extra were old and grey in cupboard.

Review 103:Pleasant reception.

Review 104:Bathroom flooded the room due to a faulty tap...the receptionist delayedin getting this sorted (witnessed by another family), until the room waswaterlogged...the receptionist was then rude to my wife stating sheshould have mentioned it earlier...which she clearly had done twice!!!!Thankfully the duty manager and his team came to resolve the matter andwere polite and apologetic. The beds were v uncomfortable as were thepillows. Very noisy guests outside at 2:30am! Cotbed which had beenbooked prior was not in room...I Had to enter another guest room to helpretrieve one in theirs...

Review 105:Not much

Review 106:The room and bathroom were clean, but the bedroom and bathroom furniture were clearly "worn". With similar priced hotels offering newer refurbished rooms then Days Inn bosses take note, don't forget the importance of making a room feel newer and more up to date. (Even if you are the 100th person to stay in that room.) Everything gets worn out no matter how well you clean it so spend a bit of money and follow suit! Also, a choice of pillow would be good eg. Hard, soft.....ok lesson over!

Review 107:I had emailed to tell them about my children's birthdays and how this little holiday was a birthday treat for them. When we got there they wished them a happy birthday. My children were shocked that they knew! Very thoughtful staff. Thanks.

Review 108:Good value for money. Clean, good inexpensive stopoverspacious room. We had booked for two people, but arrived with 2 grandchildren in tow. The bed settee and pullout bed were made up, there was plenty of room for us all, and no extra charge.

Review 109:Overall the place needs a good clean and refurbishment and new furniture. It just looks all very tired. Did not like the fact that animals were allowed to stay!!!!!!!!!!

Review 110:Location ok.

Review 111:The room was too hot. The window only opened a few inches so let in very little cool air. With no air conditioning it was very stuffy. Fortunately the lovely lady on reception lent us a fan to use.

Review 112:Helpful staff, good location. Nice room but.....

Review 113:It was situated too far away from Taunton which made taxis expensive. The room was too small and the toilet leaked twice overnight. We felt trapped in the small room.

Review 114:Nothing really.

Review 115:Reception in the morning not manned, missed out on discount breakfast ticket , rang bell and pushed alarm for reception but know one came.

Review 116:Location good, friendly greeting on arrival,

Review 117:I only have one complaint, one of the rooms had an empty beer can and a clothes label left on the window sill when we arrived.

Review 118:Rooms were reasonable size and comfortable, plenty of channel choices on the TV

Review 119:When we arrived in room the plug was in the sink and the tap dripping, water started to overflow. I had to unplug the sink and dry up water with one of the towels and toilet roll.

Review 120:Location

Review 121:Not able to check in before 3 even though room was ready Reception had the grill down to give the impression it was closed. Window full of mildew.

Review 122:Large room Clean and comfortable bed Tea and coffee making facilities

Review 123:The bathroom perhaps ready for a make over, but plenty of hot water and good shower.

Review 124:Comfort and cleanliness,Ideal for stopping over on the way to Cornwall.

Review 125:The beds were terrible, the beds for the kids were rock hard while the double bed was very soft and sagged in the middle

Review 126:The room was clean and the shower was nice and hot

Review 127:Bed uncomfortable with waterproof mattress cover. Bathroom dated and grubby. Could hear people in next room using bathroom during the night.

Review 128:Pet friendly

Review 129:The bed was awful had a dip in middle and my young daughters room was under a generator or hot water tank noise was awful all night

Review 130:The price and location just off motorway

Review 131:Ideal for an en- route stopover. Booked a second night as due to camp in Cornwall but gales were forecast. An easy location to explore Devon and Dorset from.

Review 132:Hot day couldn,t get a glass of beer anywhere on the site, told off for drinking my own, complete service site not licenced, ridiculous, first and last visit. Hotel smelled fusty, if thats how you spell it!

Review 133:price, staff.

Review 134:No lift and no one to help with my bags which was a problem as I have Leukaemia.

Review 135:I liked the lovely mature Lady on the desk who was very efficient and welcoming.

Review 136:It was a long way from the City centre and extremely hard to access. There was no fridge and no breakfast facilities on site.

Review 137:The room was quite spacious. Some of the staff were quite helpful and friendly.

Review 138:Bed was not firm enough. It was too stuffy, no fan or air conditioning . Tiles in bathroom crumbling

Review 139:friendly staff , good size for the money basic and cheap
