Reviews for Elounda Heights (Adults Only)

Review 1:Relaxing by the pool. The wonderful meals we ate there, prepared by the owner. The general feeling of well-being which you felt by being in such a beautiful spot.

Review 2:Steep road to get to so not ideal if you are on foot; rooms are close to the pool area so noise from nightly entertainment can be intrusive.

Review 3:Lovely views over the bay

Review 4:No problems at all.

Review 5:I loved the views from our terrace, the cool air conditioned room, relaxing by the pool, the opportunity to go out for a meal in the local town or stay on site and taste the manager's excellent cuisine.

Review 6:low value for money, location -you need a car-, not friendly for Greek people- everything was in English in a Greek hotel!!No cleaning services. the rooms need innovation.

Review 7:Sea view

Review 8:Very friendly family run apartments. The owner is a very accomplished chef. Fabulous views and location, even though up quite steep hill, not a big deal as worth it for the views.

Review 9:An absolutely stunning location, with fantastic hosts, Ann and Vangelis and their staff were super, they made sure all our needs were taken care of. I would totally recommend Elounda Heights as a holiday destination.

Review 10:Just returned from our first visit and what a fantastic place! Run by Vangelis and Ann and their wonderful staff, nothing was too much trouble. Room was excellent and the whole complex very well laid out, absolutely beautiful.

Review 11:The hospitality of Vangelis and Ann, nothing was too much trouble, they give 110%. We were made to feel so welcome it was like staying with extended family. The peace and tranquillity during the day, (party atmosphere, if you wanted it, in the evening after one of Vangelis excellent meals)and of course the fantastic views. AND NO CHILDREN!

Review 12:We did have a problem finding it. The sign said follow the arrow and turn right at the bend and up. It seemed a difficult road so we walked so far and it was a killer as it was so steep. But eventually we made it and it was beautiful.

Review 13:The ambiance, the quiet, the overall amenities were perfect. We had an evening meal there and it was very good. Everyone there was very friendly.

Review 14:Spideys and webs in room, Many mosquitoes (lack of netting on windows), No TV

Review 15:Great view, traditonally built room, great terrace(pool-garden), friendly and funny employees, quiet, parking, wifi

Review 16:We did not like the location of the complex. Although we were told it sat on a hill, nothing was mentioned about it being 250 metres from the town, up three different streets including a very steep incline which was, for the most part, concrete with loose stones and potholes. Both of us, being in our sixties, and myself having a mobility problem found it almost impossible to negotiate this hill either up or down and especially in direct sunshine. Had we been told about the access, we would never have booked such a location. Contrary to other reviews we were not impressed by our hosts who seemed to be gushing over the guests who spent money in the complex. We preferred to go out to town to eat and drink so for the most part we were ignored. We did not feel very welcome.

Review 17:We liked the fact that the complex was adult only. The rooms were nice and very clean and the cleaner was very friendly and helpful. The pool area was very nice and the views were lovely as were the gardens. Very quiet and peaceful.

Review 18:The apartment needs an update, specially the airco system, which was noisy, and too close to the bed (feeling the stream of cold air is uncomfortable). We also tried to sleep with the windows opened, but the presence os mosquitos didn't help.

Review 19:The pool area and the views from the room are gorgeous. Very quiet and relaxing place.

Review 20:The very warm welcome I received from Ann and Vangelis, the staff and the other guests the minuite I arrived. I loved my spacious apartment, the peace and quiet, the beautiful scenery, the ambience and I really liked that Elounda Heights is small and personable. As a single woman in my middle fifties, I honestly couldn't have chosen or wished for a better place to have my holiday.

Review 21:Need to be fit to climb the hill up to the hotel.

Review 22:The views of the bay and friendly bar, made lounging around the pool a most enjoyable experience. The owner was very friendly and helpful and generous with his Raki jug!

Review 23:Steep hill....but taxi only costs 5 euros.

Review 24:Very friendly and hospitable place, Vangelis and his team work very hard to personalise everyone's holiday - spotlessly clean, quiet with beautiful views. Very relaxing.

Review 25:The owner Vangelis was lovely to us when we arrived. As the week went on, he got less and less friendly until the last time I spoke with him, a day or two before we left, when he barely said two words. I assume his unpleasant attitude was because we didn't spend any time or money at the pool or having dinner at the complex. That was simply because the pool area was so small, everyone sitting around the pool could comfortably have a chat. Personally, I like my space and time to myself when I'm on holiday. That wasn't possible at this resort. The reason we didn't eat dinner on site was simply because we never eat dinner at a resort. We always try out different restaurants. Finally, there is a really steep hill to climb up and down between the complex and the town. Be really careful if you're on foot. Don't forget your inhaler if you're asthmatic!

Review 26:Lovely people in Elounda, in Crete in general. Weather was nice.

Review 27:Whether you are travelling alone or as a couple (or more) I can truly recommend staying at this wonderful place. The scenery from Elounda Heights is spectacular, especially from the pool area. The property all is beautiful and well kept. Everything clean and green and you are surrounded by blooming trees, and flowers. I love everything about Elounda Heights, especially the wonderful people there. Vangelis and Ann, the hosts, are so warm and lovely and really make you feel welcome, relaxed and keep you smiling all the time. The two girls I meet there that are working for them were also really nice. Many of the couples I met are regulars and I can very well understand why. The caring joyful gem Vangelis, who also so is a gourmet chef, makes sure everyone is happy. I only stayed there for three nights but wish I could have stayed longer. I was first staying at a hotel in Hersonissos but wanted to visit Spinalonga island. Last minute I decided to stay overnight in Elounda and booked Elounda Heights for one night and of course had a difficult time leaving when I was there. Luckily I was able to extend may stay. The first two days I was on my own and then my boyfriend joined me on the third day (He also loved it there). I arrived on a Thursday, which was very fortunate because they have a special group dinner on Thursdays, where the guests all have a chance to mingle. This was a great opportunity to get to know the other guests, who were all lovely people, and really fun night. Gourmet food cooked by Vangelis of course, DJ playing, dancing, talking and lots of laughing. Highly recommend the Thursday dinner. There is something really special about this place. When I left I gave many of the guests a goodbye hug and of course also the wonderful host Vangelis. I’ve never done that in any hotel I’ve stayed at. I sincerely hope I will have a chance to stay there again :)

Review 28:One night the rooms balcony and inside surrounding the door was infested with tiny flies which the staff left us to deal with on our own. It ruined that night as we were unable to relax and sit on the balcony. No apologies or compensation from the staff. Also the bin in the the room was tiny, since the rooms were only cleaned twice a week the bin overflowed so we had to use bags.

Review 29:View from room and pool was superb! Hotel has a very relaxed atmosphere and the WiFi around the hotel was very useful.

Review 30:Very steep hill to hotel, no problem to us but anyone who has difficulties walking wouls require transport up and down to the town.

Review 31:Stunning views, very hospitable hosts and staff, excellent food, nothing too much trouble from locating and retrieving lost luggage and booking taxi and even supplied a packed lunch for our journey home. Requests for certain dishes more a meal was acted upon

Review 32:Refurbishment is needed to replace the antique TV and to install a microwave and a better cooking hob.

Review 33:The accommodation is clean and spacious and the staff are very friendly. There are great views from the appartments but we didn't enjoy the slog up to them.

Review 34:Be prepared to get a taxi up the hill if you’re not up yo a bit of cardio exercise!

Review 35:A very friendly and welcoming traditional residence in a beautiful setting with wonderful gardens, exceptional service and very clean. Fabulous location with stunning views and a great place to enjoy a very relaxed and peaceful holiday.

Review 36:The only bad point is that the bed is too soft and not confortable at all.

Review 37:Lovely place. The best sunset views, the nicer staff (he gave as a lot of advices of what to see always with an smile), a big apartment, and far enough from the port to be really quiet.

Review 38:Apartments are located at the top of a steep hill which is fine if u have a car but can be hard work on foot.

Review 39:Fantastic apartments, very spacious and clean. views are exceptional. The owners and staff are lovely and friendly. The home cooked food is to die for. Lovely and peaceful.

Review 40:There are few, if any, nitpicks: cooking facilities are limited to two hotplates. Tiny, fuzzy, five-channel TV. There is no floor-standing - or any other kind of - fan, to my mind this would be essential in high summer. Parking was a little limited and awkward within the complex boundaries, but there are more spaces just outside.

Review 41:We spent eleven nights at Elounda Heights, our only stop on our first trip to Crete, with impeccable weather throughout. Apart from 48 hours of rest and recovery, our days were spent poking in the eastern island’s old ruins and the occasional nature ramble. Earlier reviews suggested there might be a pool party atmosphere, but we found the evenings quiet - almost serene. There was a fair mix of nationalities, although the clientele was predominantly British. I was most impressed by the site’s layout: based around two sides of a pool, great care has been taken to ensure each apartment’s privacy and seclusion. Apartments are staggered with balconies or patios, eschewing overlooking and the ‘little boxes’ prevalent elsewhere. A riot of planting also contributes enormously. The isolated hilltop location provides excellent views, a refreshing breeze, and eliminates any noise from traffic or construction. Rooms and apartments are named after mythological figures: ours - Nefelli - was clean, spacious and bright. (I would recommend choosing a one-bedroom apartment). The AC in the bedroom was very effective and the wi-fi reliable, although the bandwidth appeared to come under pressure in the late evenings. The one issue we had with the room was sorted in moments, and followed up. Our apartment was serviced three times during our stay. The bed was enormous, and firm. The small staff, led by the affable, avuncular and ubiquitous Vangelis, work very hard to keep the pool and other communal areas spotless and attractive. Our one breakfast and one evening meal there were pleasant and reasonably priced.

Review 42:Having to leave

Review 43:Have spent 8 blissful days at Elounda Heights. The personal touch from the owners is what makes this stay stand out. You arrive as guests and leave as friends. Great antidote to impersonal chain hotels. Do not miss the boat trip

Review 44:We do like to do a bit of our own cooking and the two plate cooker was disappointing. We would have appreciated a microwave and a little more space for preparation. The 3/4 bed was a bit small and reduced the sense of comfort at night.

Review 45:Beautiful place for a lovely holiday that we would repeat again in a flash. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the site was beautifully maintained with a fantastic pool. The views were amazing from the heights in Elounda and the people of Elounda could not be more friendly and helpful.

Review 46:The real charm of Elounda Heights is down to the family who run it and the other staff, nothing is too much trouble, they are always smiling and are lots of fun! We actually extended our holiday by 5 days as we we were enjoying ourselves so much and didn't want to leave! Unfortunately we couldn't go on Vangelis ' legendary Sunday boat trip but we heard only fantastic things about it, with many saying it us a holiday must. Great value for money, you forget it is a budget hotel.

Review 47:Hard bed. No personal toiletry. Be prepared. The smoke. The guests next door smoke and we could smell it in our room. It can be noisy. Older crowd.

Review 48:The host: Vagillis and his family are just incredible and will do everything to make your stay an unforgettable one. The food is exquisite.Loved the view. Would go back ONLY for Vagillis, the owner!

Review 49:The swimming pool is closing at 19:00. You will need a car to reach the hotel because the road is very steep.

Review 50:The view was great and it was very quiet. Hospitality was very great too.

Review 51:We had hoped for slightly better views based on the photo from booking.com. All other places we stayed in crete had been as per photo. A minor point though as still a nice quiet balcony.

Review 52:Our apartment was nice with ok views. Staff were nice and friendly and I enjoyed being detached and outside of Elounda. Some people I'm sure would put the walk up from town as a negative. It is steep and in the 37c hot work but well worth it and hopefully burnt a glass of wine or two. Overall a nice stay.

Review 53:We liked everything. Valeu a pena, sem dúvida.

Review 54:Great holiday spot, the view from the pool alone makes it totally worth it! Getting a room with a sea view is worth it as well! Good value for money. Muito bom.

Review 55:Beware of the steep hill! It is manageable though, my mum is 57 and she was able to walk it on several occasions - there are some conveniently placed benches just near the entrance for recovery!

Review 56:The staff at Elounda Heights were the nicest and most helpful out of anywhere we have stayed before! The view is amazing, the pool area has a very relaxed feel. No extra charge for wifi, safe or air con which we were very pleased about. We could have eaten at the restaurant every night, the food is very nice. Everyone was so friendly and the place has a lovely welcoming community atmosphere. Highly recommended, and we will be returning!

Review 57:Floor of apt was a little grubby to walk around barefoot (I would have mopped if we had one) Vibe was a little bit clicky, we were more than happy to leave the click to themselves! Towels changed once and we were there a week.

Review 58:pool bar- Great lunches and home made chips! Sinéad- the girl behind the bar (she's the girl that isn't freaking out when there's more than one customer!!) Vangelis is very welcoming and you feel like youre staying at his home, not just his property. Apt was really spacious No point in putting the hill as a negative, if you've read the other reviews, you know about and besides you wouldn't get the views without a climb.

Review 59:Nothing at all!

Review 60:Everything!! No words I could find could ever do this place justice. Elounda is absolutely beautiful, the hotel itself is perched high up overlooking the sea. The views are simply spectacular. The hotel itself is clean, well maintained and surrounded by beautiful flowers. Lovely cool swimming pool, always enough sun loungers and everything you could need in the room. We didn't actually use the self catering however because the food they cooked there was so lovely there was no way we weren't eating there everyday! Breakfast, lunch and dinner, all amazing and very good value for money! We loved the barbecue, loved the boat trip, quite simply loved everything! However I have saved the best until last...The people! Vangelis (the owner) is a true legend, he really made the place feel like home and we felt so welcome and well looked after. The girls were also fantastic and so were Ann and Natalia (Vangelis' wife and daughter). I have never stayed anywhere with such a happy and peaceful vibe, we loved Vangelis' pranks and stories, and would love to return here again in the future. Would like to say a big thank you to all at Elounda Heights for the perfect holiday. And to anyone thinking about booking, stop thinking about it and book now before you miss out!

Review 61:The family and all the staff The stunning views The Elounda area The food Very relaxing The rooms The pool Basically everything

Review 62:wi-fi is good but there are places where it doesn't work, for example your cooosy couch. It's very unpleasant(

Review 63:very friendly staff, good pool with bar, events for guests like thursdays BBQ and saturdays cruise, beautiful view of Elounda and the sea. but anyhow I think it's better for families or companies than for young couple like us)

Review 64:the signs getting there were not very visible...otherwise, we loved our stay at Elounda Heights!!

Review 65:The view, the food, the fact that it was high up on the hill and and it was very peaceful and quiet....very relaxing.

Review 66:I cannot find anything negative to say.

Review 67:This family run accommodation was perfect and they went above and beyond all my expectations. We got slightly lost on the way there but Natalia met us and escorted us all the way to the accommodation. Vangelis and Ann were so friendly and helpful and gave us local information and we had numerous conversations throughout our stay. I hope to return soon and would definitely stay for longer.

Review 68:- Room wasn't cleaned and bins weren't emptied during the 3 nights we stayed - Towels are replaced only twice a week, so we didn't get any fresh towels in the 3 nights we stayed - Pool closes at 7pm, so you can't go for a swim in the evening after a long day of sightseeing - Poor Wi-Fi speed even though the connection was consistent

Review 69:+ Great location on top of a hill but still very close to the town centre + Friendly staff + A/C works well + The venue and its surroundings were nicely decorated

Review 70:we only stayed 3 nights but we will definetly return. Vangelis, his family and staff are very friendly. The location is at the top of a steep hill, easy to go down, harder coming back, the views are fantastic. Its very quiet too. We would recommend the bbq night on thurs, the food is excellent and its a great way to meet the other guests.

Review 71:The hill from the village is very steep, keeping us fit, but less mobile people need to be aware of this. There is always the option of a taxi.

Review 72:Elounda Heights was a fabulous place to stay. Vangelis and his staff did everything they could to make us welcome. The restaurant food was superb. The room met our needs and comforts and had splendid panoramic views. The surrounding gardens were well maintained and beautiful.

Review 73:We didn't like, we LOVED everything about Elounda Heights

Review 74:The warm and friendly welcome from Vangelis and the whole ambience of Elounda Heights. A gem of a place. We'll be back.

Review 75:-Hard going up and down the hill on foot (no problem if you rent a car)

Review 76:-Great view of Elounda bay! -Beautiful garden (roses, ibiscus, olive trees, etc) -Clean, fully equipped studios -Ideal for quiet vacations -Hardly noticed there was no TV in the room

Review 77:What a nice view from there! A very quiet place, with pleasant and service minded staff, where you can enjoy of your holidays at your own rythme. Higly recommandable.

Review 78:Having to leave...

Review 105:Super facilities. Friendly staff! Perfect!

We had a wonderful stay and liked being on top of the hill away from the crowd. It felt like a real holiday. Certainly would not mind going back!

Review 120:Peaceful, beautifully maintained property. Well equipped and beautifully landscaped. Nice to be a bit away from the hectic waterfront of Elunda. The steep hill from the town to the hotel is not a problem in a car. A very relaxing and enjoyable stay.
