Reviews for The Lounge Hotel & Bar

Review 1:parking atrocious, Bar scruffy, No English beer, breakfast very down market like a transport cafe'. when asked before booking did not mention steep stairs to rooms. (I'm Twenty Stone.)

Review 2:Close to a decent pub./ Bed not too bad.

Review 3:The car park was hard to find in the dark and it was unlit so we were worried about the safety. On arriving the bar was fit to bursting so it was hard to find a member of staff to check in. We also struggled to get through with our bags due to the amount of people. The whole place apart from our room had a strong smell of vomit. We were kept awake until the early hours by the loud music. We had also booked a double room but we got a twin room.

Review 4:The staff were very friendly

Review 5:Very basic accommodation a very uncomfortable hobbit sized double bed in the apartment which made for a poor nights sleep. Very basic for a self catering flat and extremely poor value for money.

Review 6:Great location

Review 7:Distance parking, noise heard from bar (hand dryer & talking) but it was Boxing Day Night. No mattress with travel cot bed

Review 8:The warm welcome, large modern apartment, nice breakfast

Review 9:We had a meal in the bar, the food was lovely and the service was great but the print on the menu was a bit small for my eyes. I'd forgotten my glasses.

Review 10:Stayed here for one night, the staff are very friendly, the rooms are comfortable and the cooked breakfast was lovely

Review 11:Very difficult to find hotel car park, unlit and 100yd passage way also unlit. Unusual room arrangement on first floor, several properties knocked into one

Review 12:Very pleasant helpful staff

Review 13:Although only a short stay this was an ideal location for our visit. The staff were friendly, helpful and attentive and provided a high standard of customer service..

Review 14:Room a little too cosy.

Review 15:The staff are excellent (especially the young lady in charge) - they provide, with a smile, a fantastic level of service. Stored our bikes in a dry, safe and secure back room - excellent cooked breakfast. Bang in the heart of the town - very buzzy atmosphere in the evening.

Review 16:The smell of bleach in the bathroom. The bed and mattress was bumpy and uncomfotable.

Review 17:The food was excellent. The room was clean, but had a very strong bleach smell, which gave me migraines. Very quiet rooms, no noise for other doors closing and banging.

Review 18:The prices of the drinks varied on which staff member served you. Also breakfast not included with the room even though stated all rooms come with breakfast. The double mattress in one of the rooms was broke (springs gone) so I had to sleep on the sofa bed.

Review 19:Staff friendly and happy to help in any way. Location excellent for the town and surprisingly quiet for being above the bar. Didn't have to go far as bar atmosphere was great and food to match.

Review 20:Wish I could have stayed longer

Review 21:Stayed in appartment, fantastic stay, staff extremely helpfull/friendly. Secure bike storage, stayed Saturday night, no noise after midnight, good bar, Full English brecky great, definately stay again

Review 22:Our room was a little small

Review 23:The staff provided an excellent, enthusiastic and personal service - All were keen to please and ensure an event free stay. Provided safe and secure parking for our bikes.

Review 24:Lovely room for a large family with younger ones. All contained together so easy to keep an eye on things. Staff were very friendly and fantastically helpful.

Review 25:Friendly and welcoming staff, lovely room, great breakfast and equally good evening meal options. Loved the mezze type food, just the ticket after a long journey. Busy and buzzy but quiet in the bedroom, which was just what we needed.

Review 26:A little tricky to find car park.

Review 27:Great location, comfy and friendly atmosphere. Good facilities although we didn't use the restaurant. Great easy access

Review 28:The noise from the bar below our room. Could hear the act booked for the night.

Review 29:The location, food and the fact you knew when the bar closed and it did

Review 30:Not a bad experience but just some niggles. Car park was further away than expected. Bar was noisy but at least it didn't go on into the wee small hours!

Review 31:Very good value for money and the flat was exactly right for us. Staff were helpful considering we arrived late at night and they rang to check we were still coming as we hadn't arrived yet!

Review 32:Spent 45 minutes looking for the car park, which left us little time tochange & get to wedding venue suggest that the hotel or yourselvesput an idiot proof map to show direction to the car parking area

Review 33:The hotel & the town appears to be a one night stay, which was fineby us, as we were there for a wedding

Review 34:Only being the room on the main road was traffic noise

Review 35:Food good staff friendly and helpful.I would stay again if working in the area only if the room was not on the main road

Review 36:that you had to park round back and bring your bags down a allyway i did worry what id booked the family in to lol we booked 3 bed apt, needs more freshair bigger windows, cooking ringsin kitchen

Review 37:everything lol we booked the 3 bed apt love the conceped of it but could do with a few things

Review 38:The duvet was too "heavy" a tog and both myself and my friend woke up in a sweat several times during the night although the weather was not too hot. The signage on the car park needs replacing or making more clear it is for the Lounge Bar use. The signage seen initially does not mention Lounge Bar but rather that it is a private car park owned by another company. Only once in the car park can you see a sign for the Lounge Bar.

Review 39:The breakfast and staff I encountered were all friendly. Our stay was fairly brief but the room we had was comfortable and clean with kettle and coffee and decent toilet roll ! .

Review 40:Nothing except no food :)

Review 41:Only problem was finding car park but staff had phoned to find out where we were as it was late and gave us directions to the car park. No late night food except bar-home made crisps avail.

Review 42:Room had 1 window in roof. This automatically closed when it rained. As a result it was very hot and claustraphobic.

Review 43:the location was great as was the free parking

Review 44:The room was unbelievably hot. A fan was provided but this was very noisy.

Review 45:The staff were very friendly, and the breakfast was lovely. The room was attractive and tin bathroom was nice as well.

Review 46:were not told when booking the room that there was no window in the room. The breakfast room was very tight not big enough for the style of furnishings

Review 47:convenient for what we were doing

Review 48:I don't understand why they don't have any proper facilities to cook, which is totally different to the web page Booking.com provided. It was terrible experience.

Review 49:Cheap furniture and mattress, very thin, loud road, not a lot of options at breakfast for continental

Review 50:Modern facilities and decorations to suit most people

Review 51:The bed was too soft for for me and i did not sleep well. We were only able to open 1 window so the room was quite hot

Review 52:Large room Friendly and helpful staff Good central location

Review 53:Freshly brewed tea at breakfast would have been nice, but only small gripe in an excellent stay.

Review 54:Excellent evening meal in the restaurant and friendly and welcoming staff. Super location with good access to free parking. Would highly recommend.

Review 55:had meal in bar at night , didn't get table we booked as group of guys wouldn't move when asked by staff even tho our name was on tab saying it was booked. Got another table but next to toilet constant traffic. Great as a bar but not for meal.

Review 56:Staff really friendly. Good location easy walking distance to station and shops.

Review 57:Je ne regrette pas mon séjour au Lounge Hôtel. Très bon accueil. Emplacement au centre de la ville. Petit déjeuner copieux. Très bon rapport qualité prix. Je redescendrai dans cet hôtel c'est certain.

Review 58:Beds were very uncomfortable, pull out bed was broken, cleaners left dirty rags in bathroom, fuse kept blowing in living room, NO windows only skylights

Review 59:Loved penrith and the location of the hotel, staff was very nice and helpful

Review 60:Self Catering Advert is a gimmick: No Oven, No cooker. No Pots and pans. You can't cook anything but very basic microwave food. No Air conditioning and very small attic windows. Can get very stuffy.

Review 61:Good and bustling Restaurant / Bar in ground floor. Clean.

Review 62:Breakfast. Mainly microwaved, bacon with white foam, sausage cooked but not brown, tomatoes hard & eggs fair. If we were hungry would of complained.

Review 63:Location,design,main meal.

Review 64:Parking round back, difficult to reach and awkward if you needed to carry all of your suitcases etc. into the hotel. Only an overnight stop so only needed small bag.

Review 65:The staff were very helpful and pleasant.

Review 66:Our first room was very noisy on a night with Heavy traffic. We were moved to a quieter one on night two. We didn't like the choice of food in the restaurant-burgers and such-served in wooden boxes- which isn't our idea of "dining". The decor is very garish and the seats (high stools)were uncomfortable. It is, essentially, a wine bar. The car park is too far away from the hotel and you have to stand in the busy bar with luggage and wait to check in.

Review 67:The location offered good opportunities to explore the area. the rooms were very clean and there was no problem with our request for a quieter room when we asked.

Review 68:We expected the noise at night as our room faced the main road + there was a busy bar directly below us, but it was a bit disconcerting to be woken up at 7.30am on Saturday morning by the same loud music! Ditto at 8.30am on Sunday a.m.

Review 69:The room was large + comfortable + my daughter loved her day bed. Great location + friendly staff.

Review 70:There were plenty of plates and mugs and cutlery, and a fridge but unfortunately did not have a cooker, just a microwave. The sofa bed was very uncomfortable. Ended up putting the thin mattress on the floor which was much more comfortable.

Review 71:Lovely apartment. Did not have windows but the skylight gave lots of light and could be opened and closed. The wifi was very good. The staff were lovely and cheerful.

Review 72:The staff were so friendly and helpful, the food was brilliant, the rooms were modern and clean, it had a car park and the music was good in the bar :-)

Review 73:Unfortunately the only down side was the lack of hot water in the shower with 6 girls we really needed it and we had to go down and ask if there was anymore hot water and were told that the boiler would be put on but it still didn't work so a few of us had to suffer a cold shower

Review 74:Lovely location and free parking, the appartment was really lovely and fully stocked with glasses and cutlery which was brilliant for our group of 6! The room was gorgeous and the cocktail bar downstairs was incredible!! Highly recommended if you're in the area

Review 75:Clean, modern, bed so comfy, bathroom lovely with a great walkin shower. Overall excellent and although the bar was busy downstairs you still couldn't hear any sound from it in the bedroom.

Review 76:My only criticism of our stay was that when I came to having a shower after doing Born Survivor all day and being absolutely covered in mud the water was cold. We didn't have a telephone to call downstairs so I had to boil the kettle to wash my hair. A fight also broke out in the bar area that same night (hotel was very busy as it was a bank holiday) but the security staff dealt with the matter quickly.

Review 77:Really enjoyed our stay. The room was comfortable and clean although we only had a sky light window & I would have preferred a normal window. The staff were very polite & helpful & breakfast was nice.

Review 78:The noise of people out drinking and also people slamming doors from 6.30am for some reason

Review 79:It was in an ideal place, close to pubs, shops and restaurants. It was always busy which showed it's a good place within the area.

Review 80:Could do with a reception as its slightly unpleasant arriving late, carrying your bags, into a buzzing bar full of late night drinkers to check in.

Review 81:Quiet room even though busy in bar

Review 82:The Pub/Bar under the same management is on the ground floor. We stayed on Saturday night, so it was very noisy until late night. But it seem to be very popular spot among local people. If you like to drink there, it's convenient.

Review 83:Good room. I think it's renovated relatively recently. WiFi connection is good. Room size was good. Located near station, many shops/restaurant around the hotel. OK breakfast.

Review 84:The photos look nice and the bedrooms are standard/ok but I really didn't expect the hotel to be above a very busy noisy bar/night club style. The breakfast room is upstairs and is stuffy, seems very cramped airport style. Very basic breakfast. The staff clearly try to shelter you from the rowdy crowd in the bar by ushering you in through a side door but it wasn't quite the lake district family break I had in mind.

Review 85:Staff were apologetic about the noise.

Review 86:The staff were so friendly & helpful & the hotel was spotless. We were a family group of 12 of varying ages the youngest being 11. Everyone in the group all thought the same as me.

Review 87:The rooms were a bit on the small side - not much space to move about in. Also, not too fussed on the full English breakfast. Didn't seem to have much taste.

Review 88:The hotel is modern and conveniently situated in the centre of town. Everything is on the doorstep.

Review 89:Car Park and checking in was not very clear. Was a bit awkward walking through the bar with a ton of suitcases whilst people were enjoying food and drink!

Review 90:The apartment room we book was gorgeous. The room was very spacious and a cosy atmosphere with the wooden beams and leather sofa. Bathroom was clean and towels, tea/coffee facilities provided.

Review 91:breakfast room too cold, they had an electrical heater and electricity cut out several times, beds very small and not very comfortable, no areas for hotel guests to sit without reserving as bar and restaurant are always full

Review 92:staff were very friendly

Review 93:Mattresses could have been firmer.

Review 94:Friendly and comfortable stopover for us travelling from Swindon to Scotland. Good range of food and breakfast cooked freshly to order.

Review 95:Be warned these premises are not suitable for families with young children We were travelling with my nine year old granddaughter. Had lunch on the premises which was excellent. Spent the day in and around Penrith. Arrived back at the premises around eight o clock. Lunch had been so good we had decided to spend the evening on the premises, have dinner, bottle of wine, etc, relax and unwind after our hectic day exploring. First thing we noticed was security on the entrance door. We were told my granddaughter would have to leave by nine pm. Place was really crowded with young people and very noisy. We only had time for a very quick main course and then had to go and sit in our rooms for the remainder of the evening. Child's age was given when making the booking. I believe we should have been told the "hotel" is not suitable for families with young children. I refer to the "premises" in my comments. More accurate description is an very nice young and trendy lounge bar with some rooms available. Definately not what you expect from a hotel. Pity really cause staff, food etc all excellent.

Review 96:Food and staff excellent, rooms on the small side. Adequate for overnight stay.

Review 97:Wasn't cheap, but given the location and the time of our stay (NYE) I had no complaints.

Review 98:Lovely room and bathroom, right in the town centre so handy for bars/shops etc, and very close to the motorway as well. Also had parking at no extra charge which was a plus given the town centre location. Staff were extremely helpful, we ate in the restaurant one night (excellent food btw) and left without informing anyone, it was put onto our check out bill with no fuss. Breakfast was very good every morning.

Review 99:ALl tables in bar were reserved. After asking staff they rearranged tables so we could eat. Noise level could be too much if you are an early sleeper

Review 100:Room was perfect with large bathroom and plenty of storage. We were on the front and could hear when customers left the bar below. We ate at below bar and the food was excellant and definitely value for money. Great location

Review 101:Room wasn't quite warm enough. Radiator wasn't on when I booked in and it wasn't able to warm the room up. It was cold outside but not really that cold

Review 102:A short walk from the station Nice atmosphere

Review 103:Car - Park though provide access it was a distance from the Hotel. Room was very cold on arrival but was easy to change setting on radiators to both room and bathroom, but potentially difficult for others to do??

Review 104:Location within the Town and the arrangement to the Bar and Food was good and friendly. Staff were great and extremely nice and helpful

Review 105:The car park at the back of the hotel was abit hard to find but after contacting the hotel for directions we soon found it ok.

Review 106:My boyfriend and I stayed here for one night as we were attending a wedding not too far away. We both thoroughly enjoyed our stay, staff were lovely and very helpful, the room was very clean and a good size, we both very much enjoyed the full English breakfasts the following day too! Overrall a great stay and we would definitely recommend this hotel to our family and friends.

Review 107:Everything about this hotel is perfect the studio apartment we booked was gorgeous! Staff where lovely and the location perfect. Highly recommend to anyone I will be visiting again 5*

Review 108:We had to wait for the music to stop in the bar before we could go to sleep that was the only downfall as the music echoed into our room which was room 10.

Review 109:The staff were brilliant really good customer service, the food was excellent to.The morning staff who served our breakfast even though they had been on the night before were still gave us very good customer service have and will defently be recommending you.

Review 110:Clean, friendly and excellently located hotel in the middle of Penrith. Staff very welcoming and attentive, the accommodation was clean and nicely furnished, catering for all your needs. The food in the bar was lovely. A very enjoyable stay.

Review 111:Some net curtains would be nice as room faced the road so I had to draw the curtains so I couldn't be watched, and don't stay in room 1 if you enjoy a lie in, as every goes past it into the breakfast room!

Review 112:Nice room with good shower and excellent wifi for work.

Review 113:Rooms too warm with no apparent ways of reducing heat

Review 114:Excellent quality of food and pleasant service from staff. Functional room with high quality standard

Review 115:Room looked like it had not been hoovered, and one of the cups had lipstick marks from previous occupant. Otherwise tidy so perhaps an oversight, bit of a shame.

Review 116:Spacious room, comfortable bed. Good, central location.

Review 117:The only criticism I have of this hotel is the weekend breakfast is 7-9am. Far too early when you're having a nice weekend break, a deserved lie in and some nice wine the night before.

Review 118:The food in the hotel bar is excellent, 'street food' among other tasty options. A vibrant atmosphere with variety of age groups in Modern comfortable boutique setting.

Review 119:The Lounge Bar and Hotel is a well thought out excellently refurbished hotel in the charming Market Town of Penrith. The food and service could not be faulted.

Review 120:Our room was facing the side of the hotel and over looking an alley that smokers seemed to go! This caused the smell of smoke coming into our room through the open windows which spoiled our stay

Review 121:The hotel was lovely and clean and tidy, friendly staff central location

Review 122:After sitting with friends at the same table for 3 hours enjoying a drink and some food being asked to move because the table was reserved for diners !!!

Review 123:Reception at bar Bit noisy until bar beneath closes

Review 124:Close to Motorway and only 15 minutes from The Lakes. All decor up to date. Large bedroom and enormous luxury en suite. Clean Friendly and helpful staff Car parking Good breakfast Very very good value for large, high quality accomodation

Review 125:The Lounge/Bar area was very busy & sometimes a little noisy as it is frequented by a lot of young people.

Review 126:Room was a good standard as were the facilities. Staff couldn't have been more helpful of friendly & the food was very good.

Review 127:Nothing

Review 128:Really friendly staff, nothing too much trouble (even arriving 2 hours early). Great room, good price, free parking, nice breakfast too. Would def recommend.

Review 129:Road noise, we were in a room on the front of the hotel and you could hear every vehicle that went past.

Review 130:Location was excellent, could walk out to bars/restaurants, friendly staff.

Review 131:The staff were very attentive and the service was faultless from checking in to sorting out a table for an evening meal which was delicious. The room was spotless and very comfortable.

Review 132:Children not allowed in bar which was disappointing when you stay in a hotel children are allowed in the bar so we would'nt book facility again even though it was excellent.

Review 133:We stayed in the apartment with our daughter son in law and grandchildren it was very comfortable and spacious after a long day at a local wedding the apartment was very welcoming

Review 134:Was a little disappointed to discover our key cards deactivated at 11.30pm on our second night which resulted in us standing in the street with 2 young, tired children for 20 minutes while it was sorted. Also the sofa bed in apartment needs replacing, I had no sleep for the 2 nights sleeping on it.

Review 135:The 3 bed apartment was ideal for our families stay. Central location and friendly staff made for a plesent stay.

Review 136:We stayed in 3 bedded apartment, It is a superb and completely equip. A family of 8 adult and 1 children, the location is within walking distance to the local attractions.
