Reviews for Capsis Hotel Thessaloniki

Review 1:It wasn't clean enough, especially the bathroom, the bathroom door was broken and we couldn't close it, the room had a very bad smell. The hotel is very tired and a big renovation is definitely necessary because there are many parts in the rooms that are broken!!!! The room we had doesn't match at the photos!

Review 2:Big room, good price

Review 3:Air conditioner was leaking all the time location is not good, contraction works around sauna has to be booked in advance which is not comfortable for business trip cigarette and alcohol smells from someone's bathroom in upper floor

Review 4:breakfast very very good and included in the room rate as well as dinner at price 13Euro

Review 5:nothing comes to mind

Review 6:The hotel provides just about everything you need: centrally located, comfortable, complete and clean rooms, good value, huge and tasty breakfast (i cannot imagine a single traveler who won't enjoy taking breakfast there)

Review 7:Friendly staff (esp. Giorgio at desk), SPA massage, quiet and spacious room with lots of towels, slippers, pillows, and great breakfast. You can check out at 8pm for only 10 euros.

Review 8:The jalousie in my room was broken, there seems to be a better web access for residents but nobody gave me the login credentials, when I entered the room it looked only semi prepared

Review 9:The bar looks nice (didn't use it though) as did the roof pool (which was closed). The staff was very friendly. The location is efficient (close to the station) but not nice.

Review 10:The shower was the main problem. It has a partial glass side that I guess someone thought would keep the water in the tub; the result was a bathroom floor always wet and flooded. Also, the mattress was not good.

Review 11:The staff is polite and professional.

Review 12:Crazy positioning of soap dispenser halfway up opposite wall from anyone sitting in bath means you have to get up from bath every time you want soap. Very poor shower curtain/shield thing doesn't stop bathroom getting soaked. Very slow internet.

Review 13:Good location, efficient, friendly staff, modern room. Very good breakfast.

Review 14:For the price you have to pay for your stay at the hotel, you would expect better cleaning in the room and actually in the entire Hotel, more parkingspace should be a must...!!!

Review 15:The hotel's loction is good, but due to road and metro repair difficult to reach by car.

Review 16:the bed was horrible, worst experience in Greece...4 star hotel with two twin beds together to have the illusion of a king size bed was far not good. old beds noisy and not comfortable, will never sleep again at this hotel for this main reason

Review 17:staff is friendly

Review 18:My room was a little bit small for my expectations, but it's ok. Sould isolation is very poor. All sounds and noises are hearable.

Review 19:Breakfast was very tasty, delicius. 5++ Love it. Very clean and friendly stuff. Parking is ok and acceptable.

Review 20:We tried to order room service three times and no one answered! So went elsewhere.

Review 21:Room was nice and hotel is a good location, easy walk from the train station.

Review 22:This hotel does not deserve the 4 stars it displays on its website. The hotel is situated in a run-down area of the city, and fits in well with its surroundings. Walking through the grandeur of the lobby one is left with the wrong impression of the hotel, the rooms are small and uncomfortable. During my stay the hotel was grind-polishing the floor at the conference room level, outside the restaurant - kicking a mist of fine marble dust into the atmosphere. Not exactly hygienic! The roof-top pool was closed and locked for Winter - this was not mentioned on the website.

Review 23:The hotel is cheap - 13 euros for a buffet dinner.

Review 24:The hotel was old, not renovated, not properly cleaned( WC), promblematic the orientation with car parking due to public traffic managemenent for works in process in front of the main hotel'entry. This was unknown before the reservation.

Review 25:The hotel was well located and the staff was very helpful on our requests. The breakfast was very good.

Review 26:It is not a 4 star hotel, it is old needing being refurbished, an overall renovation. The room service is not efficient. The staff is not specially helpful or nice. Required the entire payment upon arrival.

Review 27:Nothing

Review 28:Slight smell of canalization time after time and cigarette smell need to reconnect wifi on the mobile device

Review 29:Staff was up to task, helpful and proffessional

Review 30:there was something I did not like.

Review 31:It was very nice. We Capsis hotel was nice, calm & purity. when booking rooms in fact made by the biggest slap of the beautiful, however it was ok again. I really liked because it was near the center, just that we had a great time, and enjoyed the beauty of the city in maximum, and returns to the room, gave us a relaxing tranquility. with respect Vilma bilali

Review 32:I was staying there because of the conference taking place in the same hotel, otherwise I wouldn't choose it. This facility has the best years behind, equipment is fairly outdated. It says it is in the city centre, but in fact it is in the city centre edge, on a dug up street with not so nice surroundings.

Review 33:There are options for paid wi-fi, which I did not take up. So my comment is only applicable to the free wi-fi. The login requires refreshing every 15-30 minutes as opposed to the 3 hours as stated (regardless of device; phone, laptop or tablet). It was frequently overloaded with users, for example in the lobby it was almost impossible to stay connected.

Review 34:The staff and their professionalism were excellent at all times. Whether it was from the reception, room service or bar.

Review 35:The wifi signal was very weak. The hotel gives a feeling of overcrowdedness and it is more like a business center therefore it is not so suitable for leisure travelers. We stayed only one night so we couldn't use all the facilities, hence I wouldn't recommend it for short stays since it becomes overpriced when you are not able to use all the facilities included in the price.

Review 36:Though I didn't find anything special with this hotel I can say that it is quite clean and everything except the internet worked well.

Review 37:Music a little bit too loud at the pool. Gym room was definetely too small and too packed. Better move out one or two machines. At checkout I was informed the 0,5 l bottle of water from the minibar (the only item in the bar) costed 1 Euro. I could not find information about the item price in the hotel info on the rooms desk. Although the usual "please-safe-water-signs" in the bathrooms, towels were exchanged every day although I indicated not to. I found the breakfast a little sub standard for a 4 star hotel, fresh fruit would have been great.

Review 38:Rooms and hotel were clean. Most of the personnel at the reception was friendly and helpful. I asked for opening ours of a museum, the employee called them and told me - very nice. I also asked for the airport bus and tickets and was informed friendly and correct.

Review 39:The exterior of hotel reminds of old soviet times, the interior shows the signs of luxury, but everythings is aged.

Review 40:The swimming pool on the roof is a good relaxtion after hot day in town.

Review 41:A few nice staff but overall very unprofessional (I had to wait 10mn that the receptionist decides she can double task while talking to her friend to start my check in, and even then, she didn't look at me once) Poor bar and staff at the pool bar Pool opens only at 11am Loud fridge in the room

Review 42:View from the rooftop pool / bar Tastefully decorated rooms

Review 43:The wifi wasn't very good in the room and we didn't really have any kind of view but even if we did stay in one of the road facing rooms I think that the view of a busy road wouldn't be the ideal thing anyway!!

Review 44:I really loved the bed and pillows, the wardrobe room and the overall space of the room and of course the cleanliness!!

Review 45:We have booked an apartment with king size beds and we have received 2 rooms linked with single beds. The front desk proposed to wait until 1 in the morning to give us the room we've booked ... strange proposal. As a compensation, they gave us late check-out for free. There are areas around the hotel where parking on the streeat seemed dangerous.

Review 46:the roof pool the breakfast is ok

Review 47:The photos on booking.com were not representative of the state of the facilities. The hotel is charming but looks like it was last renovated in the early 70s. The furniture in the common areas definitely dates from that time which was absolutely hilarious to us but was nothing like what we had been sold online. We had a lot of fun reminiscing about Wes Anderson's Grand Budapest hotel. He easily could have been inspired by hotel capsis for his film

Review 48:The staff was very kind and helpful everywhere. The facilities were clean and the location is walkable distance from downtown

Review 49:Location is convinient, but very noisy and some construction in progress around which complicates the access to the hotel. Beds are very tough. And air condintioner was right above the kid's bed, very dissapointing.

Review 50:Brekfast is very good. Pool on the top floor. Stuff is helpful.

Review 51:*View from window: zero *Empty minibar except for water that I had to pay extra for *Breakfast not included in hotel fee. Was asked to pay 15 Euros extra (which I didn't). My colleague was not. It was included in the price of his hotel room. *Surrounding streets.

Review 52:*Bed *Closeness of location to centre & restaurants *Air-conditioning *Was able to smoke in my room *Cleanliness of room *Reasonably priced

Review 53:Kapsis is a big hotel. The operation is old and it shows. Despite the best efforts of its staff it needs something to refresh it. Chose it for the parking facility at 8euro per day and then I find out that there is another private facility 50 meters further away for 5!!! Felt stupid. There are many hotels on the same road for similar price and that look to be nearer to the town center.

Review 54:The staff were proffesional. Breakfast offered almost everything. Parking facility that takes you straight to the floor of your room.

Review 55:The car's noise from the main road was very disturbing, and the spare third bed was not very comfortable.

Review 56:Very convenient position and the rooftop pool was very relaxing!

Review 57:The staff were very helpful and prompt with their assistance. The facilities were great as i spent some time up in the pool. Room was clean and big and the location was great to do that spot of shopping with the main strip being only a short walk away. Overall loved my stay there... :)

Review 58:the rooms could use some fresh paint

Review 59:The proximity to historical center of the city is a plus, very easy to find it in the city, the swimming pool on the roof was excellent, good indoor parking

Review 60:Large clean rooms, nice view from the top, free good wifi, staff helped us to print our boardingpass, good location and a busstop in front of the hotel

Review 61:The hotel has been modernised and is in a great location walking distance from Thessaloniki's main shopping area and night life. The roof garden and pool the breakfast

Review 62:The room was outdated and shabby, not representing value for money. We had paid for an upgrade before arrival and were disappointed by the state of the room, having spent considerably less, for far better accomodation in the past. E.g. Bathroom lacked a shower curtain/shower door. Furniture had seen better days.

Review 63:The roof top pool area, with sun loungers and bar was great.

Review 64:hotel was always hot, spa facilities were always closed unless we arranged a time for them to be open. Breakfast could have been nicer. Dinner was great.

Review 65:Bed was very comfortable, pool bar was nice and had a nice view over the city. Food from room service was exceptional and service was great.

Review 66:The pool was too small, not as I expected. Our shower cabin had some problems. The view from our room wasn't nice at all

Review 67:Food was really nice, hotel is situated no far from the city center and the main shoppin street. Plus it has a pool on thr roof

Review 68:It was a very beatiful stay. Location is great, view is incredible, owners re great (Thank you Kostas and Spyros), it was a perfect stay. For sure we will come back here.

Review 69:Air conditioning was terrible in most areas, wifi was bad and sharing a pool with the locals is a bad idea as there was no lounges available for the guests later in the day

Review 70:Location was good, staff especially Panayiotis at reception provided excellent service. Break fast is great

Review 71:Staying in Capsis was good average hotel experience - nothing was really fantastic but nothing was bad either. Our room was big with living area in separate room. It was very well airconditioned in the summer heat - but it was a bit worn and had not been renovated yet. The breakfast buffet was big with a lot our chioces - a lot of them very good, but a few not good (the juice was awful). The swimming pool area was nice - but it was obviously a hot spot in the heat for the youth of Thessaloniki in general. Which meant that we during a 2 hours stay saw several hotel guests come ready to bathe and leave again. The location is close to the train station and with a short walk you are in the center of the city. So if you are into classic hotels and service values this is a hotel for you. We were satisfied with the stay - but we have had better hotel stays.

Review 72:This is not a 4 star hotel. The tiny swimming pool is not clean and very crowded. I asked for a non-smoking room, they gave me a very smelly one which the smell of the old smoke was inside the furniture, the beds, the pillows, everywhere. It was impossible for me to sleep in this room. I am lucky they shift me on a descent one. The hotel seems old, dark and not in a good condition. The minibar you can find only a two small bottles of water. Not happy.

Review 73:Location

Review 74:Free Wi-Fi was slow. Swimming pool was overcrowded. Hallway carpets need to be replaced.

Review 75:Comfortable beds. Good and varied breakfast. Very welcoming staff. Fine location. Easy 15 min. walk to sea promenade.

Review 76:Double bed was not available, even though I booked quite in advance, and it's a bit noisy and the internet connection was poor, and if you want a decent one, "tadaaa"..... you gotta pay for it!

Review 77:Room is spacious, nice, comfortable, very clean.

Review 78:It's in a rather dilapidated part of town. It's not dangerous but it looks rather seedy

Review 79:A classic business/overnight hotel but good care. The roof top pool is great but was somewhat overrun with students so swimming wasn't really an option.

Review 80:location (not very central but only 15 minutes walk to the centre so quite good)

Review 81:Swimming pool Gym (although very small and you need to ask for the key)

Review 82:Very bad air circulation in the room, the room was stinky and there was a bad smell coming from the canals in the bathroom and toilet; breakfast was very poor, hotel needs a total refurbishment!

Review 83:Spacious room, nice interior design for the junior suite

Review 84:They forgot to put clean towels at the bathroom. When we asked, they only manage to bring one set although we book the rooms for two.

Review 85:Nice person at the reception.

Review 86:Roof-top pool is also open to non-guests, so it's like the local pool, crowded with teenage bodybuilders and their loud girlfriends, families with kids, low-class random people. And it opens only at 11:00 so no chance for a morning quiet swim...

Review 87:Staff was kind and efficient

Review 88:Very loud and aggressive techno music coming from cheap China made speakers producing nothing but extremely disturbing noise around the roof pool without any place of refuge and without interruption, distroying totally the atmosphere which would be perfect without that noise.

Review 89:Rooms, cleanliness, friendliness of the staff, breakfast, lobby, practically everything

Review 90:Location seemed like e ghetto quarter, very dirty and a lot of noise from the main road and vehicles. Hotel looked very old with over consumed carpet and cheap curtains in the corridors. The restaurant was veeery outdated and food was so so. Rooms were very small and TV did not have enough channels despite Greek ones. The parking was at extra charge for the guests, which should have been included in the room price for the hotel guests (this is the standard for 4 stars hotels). Pool very small. I would rate this hotel at 2 stars.

Review 91:I didn't like a thing at this hotel. I would never go back there.

Review 92:Wi fi very slow, noisy room, double bed with two single mattressess, water from sauna leaked to lower floor, small tv, very slow elevator, plastic tap in bathroom, very expensive

Review 93:PLENTY OF CHOICES IN BREAKFAST

Review 94:Firstly receptionist which welcomed me on my arrival was not interested in my person but listen to the conversation of other people at reception. She just handled a room cart to me and told me to go the 1st floor. I had to ask for more details like breakfast time, wifi. Room itself was average with a view on brick wall. Bathroom - quite small with door opening on the cubicle unit. Wi-Fi connection was horrible, was keep logging you off and very slow. Since I requested non smoking room I didn’t expect to have smell of smoke going though ventilation units in the bathroom. Location is further away from the city centre - good 20 minutes walk.

Review 95:There was a good variety of food in the breakfast buffet. Very comfortable bed.

Review 96:The location is perfect comparing to price. It's a good 4 star hotel. They have a secure parking lot which is great with people who travels with motorcylce. Breakfast was also ok. We enjoyed our stay.

Review 97:-The free WiFi is really bad. And the Paid programms, are very expensive and also slow -The Gym is not appropriate for the size of the hotel -Paid parking

Review 98:+Clean +Spacious +Super heating even on the coldest day +Friendly and polite staff +Nicely decorated

Review 99:The sauna wasn't working, i wanted one double bed instead of two separate, i got the room late not as planed.

Review 100:Really good food, good bar working all night, staff, location, too bad it is winter and i couldn't use the pool, checkout at 12 am and they are kind if you ask they will probably extend, great room.

Review 101:Breakfast was awful. You could not find a place to seat and quality was below average. We paid for a suite that was at the inside part of the hotel, i.e no view in the front. Value for money was really bad.

Review 102:Rooms are rather poor. The hotel is old. Elevator was not properly working. Air condition at the room was not working. Cold at the room. WiFi was crashing all the time.

Review 103:Location is fine. Friendly staff. Good breakfast.

Review 104:Hotel was being redecorated and details where still visible to update. All though overall is great, I'd say that some furniture were really old.

Review 105:Staff...EXCELLENT. The morning buffet was excellent too. Hotel services...above average, truly can satisfy anyone. Huge entrance, nice rooms and strategic location.

Review 106:When we went for breakfast we saw a few customers taking food with them after finishing their food and nobody told them anything. But when we finished our food we took just a bread and a cake with us also and one of the staff called us and told us that is not allowed to do that and we felt very uncomfortable while other people were watching us as if we were stealing something..From the beginning there was nobody there to check the rooms that were allowed breakfast and suddenly this person came up and made us fell very uncomfortable..At least you should put a sign telling that food is not allowed to be taken from the restaurant or put someone there to check everyone...And the staff who checked us said that is for hygiene reasons that we were not allowed..Then why you have room service if food is not allowed to be taken in the rooms..!!!..Bad excuse....Retrain your staff....

Review 107:The location was excellent.Very clean rooms but they could be better.Great breakfast.Nice decor. For the money they charge they should check the details a bit more although in overall its a decent hotel. And its a shame for such a hotel to be criticized for the behavior of the people working in it.

Review 108:No tea/coffee facilities in room, noisy when windows left opened.

Review 109:Very friendly and helpful staff, good sized rooms with air conditioning, modern bathroom.

Review 110:very close to the station and the city centre, it had all possible facilities, if you go to this hotel please try the 3 flavoured ice cream at this hotel its fantastic.

Review 111:the room smelled cigars, even though it was a non-smoking room. We asked the personnel for a change, but there were only 2 rooms available, which were smokers rooms and they had 2 separate beds (we wanted 1 double). So we had to stay in the smelly room...

Review 112:Small room Breakfast not included in the price No hotel parking Free WiFi is really slow

Review 113:Nice hotel, you can find there some of the lost beauty of the 80s Clean Quite Nicely decorated room Friendly stuff

Review 114:Yes, the choice of this hotel is a mistake of casting for me : - big hotel mainly organized to received groups - impersonal layout - international buffet, no "a la carte" restaurant open - really poor wifi

Review 115:Nice room facilities, but

Review 116:The only negative was the room was quite warm overnight and needed to leave the air conditioner on while sleeping, which was a little noisy. The restaurant good is ok.

Review 117:The hotel was very well located close to the train station. Good size room with well appointed bathroom. Helpful concierge.

Review 118:furniture, corridors, wi-fi policy and velocity, attractions of the bar, room maids attitude toward their job, speed of work, etc.

Review 119:Food, reception stuff, elevator speed, location, hospitality

Review 120:wifi experienced a glitch while we were there which made it tough to get things done. I'm sure they'll work out the bugs.

Review 121:Fairly priced, up-dated, great amenities. We moved to this hotel after being disappointed by the first we had booked. The breakfast was wonderful, staff were polite and extremely responsive. We were pleasantly impressed.

Review 122:Tiny bathroom. Shabby looking hotel from outside. The carpets in the corridors need to go it be replaced. It really detracts from the look they have tried to achieve in the rooms.

Review 123:Rooms were good.

Review 124:Swimming pool was closed because of weather conditions (it was cloudy sometimes during the day but it did not rain at all). But not just swimming pool was closed, the whole terrace including the bar and hammocks were also closed.

Review 125:Buffet staff was very unfriendly. Chef didn't know what type of meat he used for what was labled as"meatballs". There is major construction around the hotel, a great amount of noise and dust. The red carpet is ugly and nasty. The location is awful.

Review 126:Pool on the roof top.

Review 127:Air con not working in room. Should have been put on before we arrived. We were moved after complaining. No aircon at all in common areas, so the hotel was sweltering. Plenty of breakfast options, but the quality was average. Wifi kept dropping out.

Review 128:Reasonable location, easy to find, parking underneath

Review 129:Stuff, wi-fi worst ever - unusable...,payed parking...8euros per day, small rooms, no balcony, bad aircond..., But most of all the toilet (wc)with doors witch u canT lock because there is no keyhole so the doors ucan only detained, the doors are made of glass and all around doors is a2 cm open space, so when u go to poop it smells in all romm...Unbeliveable!!!!

Review 130:Breakfast, maybe pool...

Review 131:Junior room is our choice, family with two kids, enough place for people, luggage and shopping bags. Hotel is a few steps away to city center. Practical if traveling by car, underground parking for low rate. Rich breakfast, excellent room service.

Review 132:Some noise in the night from the streets, wi/fi sometimes poor connetction, not enough space in some rooms (are small), no more international programs on TV.

Review 133:Good breakfast, variety of foods, good location, good stuff, bathroom good and clean, etc.

Review 134:Room was hot when we arrived, it would be better if air condition was turned on. Pool was not working. Location is not so close to centre as we expected.

Review 135:We had to connected spacious rooms. Good breakfast.

Review 136:I liked the location because it's close to downtown and all the main attractions. On the day one we had an issue with a key which didn't work for our room so we went up and down and left and right, staff wasn't so expedite, no one offered any drinks or some sort of "compensation" while they were fixing the problem, or let alone another room. Instead we just sat there after a long trip, tired unable to rest or unpack or even just unwind a little bit. The tech "fixed" it and said we should move they key a little bit up or down when pulling the card out etc ?! So after that they key didn't work again then had to call again the reception etc...not even an apology. Then at the end they charged our credit card without even asking us about payment preference which we used to book only and we wanted to pay with another card. When we said that the lady at te desk seemed to be annoyed with our request... And so on... I don't think we will stay at this hotel again at all, but I guess if you are there for a night or so it's ok to stay.

The Fine Print
