Reviews for Ramada Loughborough Hotel
Review 1:Was explained at reception going through a refurb so that does explain for the bit of outdated decor. Had a trolley bag with wheels and didn't like having to go up in lift and then carry bag down a few steps and then up a few steps to get to room but I guess it is an old hotel and that is just the layout. A vending machine would have been nice with cold water and small selection crisps, chocolate etc.
Review 2:Liked the location, free car park and wifi
Review 3:Not so much a bad experience, but the hotel (outside of the reception/ bat area) felt a little tired and needs a spruce up. Not what youwould expect from a Ramada Hotel in my opinion. My room was a littlerough around the edges and the window didn't shut fully. Some of the staff were not that polite or helpful and frankly miserable - whilst others were running everywhere. One my first night there was one lady covering the bar, the restuarant and room service. I waited at the bar for service, whilst two people sat behind the check-in desk talking. I was the only person in the bar and I waited 10 minutes to be served.
Review 4:Location and the food was nice. The building has a lot of potential. Some of the staff were very polite and happy - they tended to ones thatwere running around everywhere.
Review 5:Room very dark and no main overhead light, just dim lamps. pillows were like sleeping on sand bags Long complicated walk to room through chilly corridors and stairs
Review 6:staff friendly breakfast - large selection and well cooked
Review 7:Poor quality pillows... which made for a poor nights sleep (would have preferred extras in wardrobe or better quality pillows). Also, though less important... no biscuits with room tea/coffee and only enough milk for two cups!
Review 8:Very central with free parking (Other cheaper hotels but not if you factor in overnight parking and breakfast). Cleanliness of room was excellent as was greeting by reception and breakfast staff
Review 9:The room was dismal, lamp broken, a hazard as the bulb was resting on the shade. Decor was very tatty the pillow was so uncomfortable complimentary bathroom products were poor
Review 10:very good location. The breakfast was ok and the breakfast staff were pleasant
Review 11:pillows too soft - room lighting too dark/dim. would have preferred a double bed and not two singles put together - hate the middle connection uncomfortable whilst sleeping.
Review 12:close to restaurants, shops and walking distance to station - free car park.
Review 13:room next to noisy lift motor. kept us awake till after midnight and awoke us at 06.00. TV came on at 06.30 without warning. May have been programmed by previous occupant. No prawns in kitchen so our two food choices unavailable. room smelt odd and overall the hotel looked in need of an upgrade. will not stay there again.
Review 14:staff friendly and helpful
Review 15:Great location, being right in the town, with free parking. Staff were very helpful and polite and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was lovely and plenty of choice. Free Wifi.
Review 16:We really liked all the staff, had a great welcome.Warm room ,excellent shower ,good bed good breakfast with friendly service. Great Georgian building. Would certainly stay again.
Review 17:Hotel very tired needs updating. Breakfast not that great.windows in corridors and bedroom very old so didnt shut so was very chilly.
Review 18:Staff very friendly . Early check in . Good position of hotel . Free parking a bonus
Review 19:Free in town parking and the breakfast was included in my price so very pleased overall. I normally use the Premier in but this was a great alternative.
Review 20:Very dated - over priced - very noisy not from the town as that is to be expected but the constant banging of doors and noise from other rooms - reception staff were not friendly and did not offer any advice on local area or about hotel
Review 21:The manager in the restaurant was very friendly and helpful
Review 22:The noise. People coming in at all hours from 2am to 4.45am, talking, shouting, slamming doors, etc. Apparently this was due to the fair being in town, but staff did not control the noise. Poor sound-proofing and doors which slammed loudly did not help. In future, the hotel should post a notice on their site informing guests to expect noise if booking at this time, as others do in similar circumstances. Rooms also quite tired, peeling wallpaper, chipped paintwork.
Review 23:sad old style modernised hotel still needing modernising room was OK but it had some hot water pipes making a constant knocking noise 24/7 buffet breakfast very limited, cooked breakfast was fine
Review 24:staff were friendly and helpful
Review 25:Room 64 is very inadaquite.the bed base must be 20years old as is the matress.there was blood stains on the sheets.the bathroom had dirt in every corner.the bath pannel was broken and the toilet had skids in it.the wardrobe had a hairbrush in it from a previous guest
Review 26:Location
Review 27:Great location, free parking and very good breakfast. But, the hotel room was shabby, peeling wallpaper, bed divan base not properly secured. Windows could have done with nets as when curtains were open , it overlooked a building. Overall, it did what I wanted but I wouldn't rave about my experience.
Review 28:They checked me out by blocking my card before 1109 hrs as I had left the hotel at 9659 hrs to go to work and when I went back at 10am the card wouldn't work, and when I went to reception the guy told me I had been checked out already. Bizzare as I never checked out earlier. So disgusting. I just walked out as I did not want or have time to complain. The rooms are noisy as I could hear the coughing , every word my neighbours were saying.
Review 29:The size of the bed and room was good. Breakfast really nice
Review 30:Unfortunately one of the neighbours had an overactive sensor light which kept me awake! Out of your control I appreciate!
Review 31:Plenty of parking. Good location Breakfast very good, nice to have marmalade and croissants so often not on offer.
Review 32:My room is in the 1st floor, where the lift is almost not useful, the construction of the building is poorly designed and not convient to move with luggage.
Review 33:Good service and nice staff, the breakfast servant is awesome.
Review 34:The lift stairs and distant to our room and that you needed to go down a floor to the toilet if you were in the restaurant or the lounge bar
Review 35:The warmth the comfort and relaxing atmospheres
Review 36:Bed was rather uncomfortable. View was of a car park and commercial units
Review 37:Fantastic location, unbelievable price/deal, helpful, friendly and polite staff. Lovely big rooms and huge beds. Quiet location and secure and free car park
Review 38:Only 1 small pillow each in a twin room and whole room needed refurbishment tiles in bathroom with discoloured grout just felt jaded Coffee at breakfast almost inedible
Review 39:Staff were very nice and helpful
Review 40:The room had a terrible odour which was evident as soon as you opened the door. This was coming from the bathroom but permeated the whole room.
Review 41:The staff were all very polite and welcoming and couldn't be more helpful.
Review 42:Only 1 spoon and 1 bath towel in room. Very warm room with no way ofcooling. Carpet in corridor joined full length by metal strip Lookedtacky. Breakfast poor-much better value at Premier Inn for a much betterchoice. Our toast was delivered to our table before we had even had gotour cereal. Waitress spilt milk on the floor and instead or wiping it upshe trod it into the carpet! Every time she took an order to the kitchenwe could hear every instruction. The breakfast room was quite dark anddid not have any atmosphere. As soon as we were chewing our lastmouthfuls our plates were whisked away.
Review 43:Location. Pretty Italian-like inner courtyard. Free car parking. Staffon reception.
Review 44:No access ramp to front door requiring wheelchair users to use the 'tradesman's entrance'.
Review 45:Very smiley staff, good breakfast, served very well. Disabled facilities in room worked well.
Review 46:Could not believe they would not accept cash for payment of room (1 night) but said they did accept cheques! Which I did not have, luckily found a switch card that I did not want to draw from. Made it very awkward for me. Room was very noisy - creaking and banging doors all night, along with the Saturday night revellers outside (very poor sound insulation on window)
Review 47:Breakfast
Review 48:Room given was at the back of the hotel which felt like a long walk with atleast 5 doors to open and close. Hotel didnt seem busy so a better room could have been provided
Review 49:Small prison room with no facilities one taty chair for two people old bed with a poor mattress l have never seen such a poor place not worth for money although hotel was almost empty we were given possibly the worst room in the far corner never again
Review 50:Nothing
Review 51:room was a bit dated, poor lighting in the room but better in the bathroom. room could do with more coat hangers and an spare pillow. the desk area could benefit from desk light.
Review 52:plenty of parking area, helpful and attentive staff, good restaurant, nice breakfast.
Review 53:I didn't like the bathroom - rooms weren't ready for checkin at the advertised time so I was offered a room without a bath. I was given a disabled shower which was fairly average in poor condition - shower dripped. Shower also made a big wet mess of the bathroom.
Review 54:I did like the location, staff were very helpful and loved the cooked breakfast.
Review 55:I would not have liked to pay full price for breakfast too expensive .bar needs somebody behind it .staff in reception can't do bar as well we were going to have a drink before going out but they were dealing with people in reception hence no drink .
Review 56:Near City centre .was value for money but only because we had a deal .
Review 57:the room was not clean, the cups in the room were stuck to the tray, 2 pillows removed after first night, breakfast disgusting, no light outside room 21
Review 58:available parking
Review 59:Room on 1st floor no.69 but a long walk to get downstairs as over the other side of the hotel. Room very hot even though the heating wasn't on so had to use noisy fan.only 1 flat pillow each but manage to get another one after being told they hadn't got anymore.
Review 60:Hotel in the middle of the town so excellent for walking and local to daughters uni. Breakfast was lovely and restaurant manager was very friendly and helpful
Review 61:Staff lacking in communication skills Extractor fan not working in bathroom Cleanliness-average dusty in parts
Review 62:Breakfast Availability of parking within the hotel
Review 63:The male receptionist was rather rude. Asked for more towels which he brought up. There didn't seem to be a lot of staff on site. We asked for extra pillows ad there was 2 but one was very flat. It was a very run down hotel. In my opinion it needs to be totally refurbished.
Review 64:It had a great location right in the centre of town with onsite parking
Review 65:Rooms here are basic with the odd chipped skirting board and knock here and there but the bed was very comfortable, shower really good and quality TV/wifi signal. All in all could not moan for the price we paid. Requested extra pillows and they came with 30 minutes. Courtyard an added bonus as nice place to sit and have a glass of wine on a summers evening. Lift is loud so maybe request a room away from the lift. Staff very friendly nothing to much trouble.
Review 66:Decor was tired and a little tatty in places. Carpet in bedroom had been patched and flaky paint in bathroom. I have a back problem and we had to go up and down several flights of stairs to get to our room which was a real nuisance. Also very tight turn into carpark !
Review 67:Staff were pleasant and helpful, especially Maria from Brazil
Review 68:They recently put double windows in, in this old building. Now it was far too hot in the rooms without beiing able to change this. even opening te windows was not enough.
Review 69:Location of the hotel. Friendly staff
Review 70:The mattress and pillows were the worse we have ever had. At 9.30 there was vertually nothing left.
Review 71:The shower was nice and hot and the bathroom was clean.
Review 72:The manager, the staff the situation, the hotel with one exception we had one young man who had an attitude problem which was a shame as he let down his colleagues
Review 73:It was a very comfortable hotel which I remembered from when I stayed in 1970's. Staff were excellent and it was in just the right place to enable us to visit our friends.
Review 74:The decor was very dated. The room temperature was too warm, the fan provided had no cage on the front so the blades were exposed.
Review 75:The staff were very accommodating.
Review 76:No-one explained breakfast service to me, I had to ask and I had to request my toast twice. The mirror in the bathroom is like in most hotels not well lit, the bathroom was very dark and not suitable for doing a ladies make up.
Review 77:Really comfy bed, and nice bright big window in my room. Excellent service for checking out and very pleasant reception and bar staff. Waiting staff at breakfast were very nice if a little slow.
Review 78:The room was so hot and the window did not open so we had to be moved. We were then informed that the heating remains on all year round. The bed was extremely uncomfortable with only two very small pillows provided. It was all extremely dusty. There was no consistency throughout the hotel with regards to decor the room that we were originally in was large and spacious and more modern however the room we moved too was extremely small, dated and the 'double' bed was half the size yet we were still asked to pay £80 for the night. Luckily we did not spend much time in the hotel and shan't be heading back soon!
Review 79:Room was too hot as a hot sunny day and curtains had been left open with window closed!
Review 80:Friendly and helpful staff, central location, clean room and an excellent evening meal as well as breakfast.
Review 81:Room filthy. Hotel dated and scruffy. Told we could pay cash on arrival. Told couldn't wen got there. Had to walk to a bank and put cash into account wallk back then put in a dirty room. Pictures taken of filth and disrepair.
Review 82:Dining staff .
Review 83:The property could do with a fair amount of maintenance as it is an older venue and could do with some judicious modernisation or even a fresh lick of paint etc
Review 84:Inclusive parking, wifi & breakfast makes it more cost effective
Review 85:Very shabby and unclean. Strange smell. We had a first floor room, very insecure no way to lock window. The breakfast was unimpressive. This should not advertise itself as a Ramada Hotel. However the staff were friendly.
Review 86:It was short
Review 87:Hotel tired, cushions on bed dirty, windows left open so pigeon feathers everywhere, decor needs updating, lift very noisy, no fridge in room. Shower screen on bath made access difficult.
Review 88:Location and room size good, ground floor impressive, good breakfast
Review 89:Cold plates at meal times, they need a plate warmer for the self service breakfasts.
Review 90:Very comfortable stay with very friendly staff making you feel very welcome.
Review 91:There was poor lighting for applying make up in the main room mirror and the pillows were small, thin and need upgrading
Review 92:The staff were attentive, friendly and helpful especially as we arrived very late at 2am. The breakfast was buffet style and saved ordering delays.
Review 93:Room tiny like a cupboard with one tiny window and no air conditioning Bed awful with old pillows. Eventually received full refund but only after refusing to stay in Room and returning the next day to see General Manager
Review 94:Bathroom ok
Review 95:A minor problem with no table lamp in the room but the staff were very quick to find a lamp as I needed to do some work. It is difficult to even consider this a negative point as it was rectified.
Review 96:Pretty well everything was perfect during my stay. The staff were really first class friendly and helpful. Dinner was not only reasonably priced but cooked to perfection. I had the best chicken pate I have had in years! I would definitely stay again!
Review 97:The rooms are old tired and poor value. Bed was uncomfortable, duvets thin, bathroom had damp smell and black around tiles. Itching felt clean due to the shabby decour which did not live up to the reception area. Had to walk ages through many heavy doors as lift only went to 1st floor.
Review 98:Nice reception area, good breakfast staff. Good iron and ironing board in room.
Review 99:Wall mounted room air-con didn't work, and outside it was the hottest day of the year (35 degrees!)
Review 100:Friendly staff were helpful, free car parking and wi-fi.
Review 101:As stated many times the hotel seems a little tired. Just needs a bit more attention to detail as a main hotel is a really nice building.
Review 102:Location sold it for me. Impressed by the young lady in control of the breakfast room on both 6th/7th June, so friendly, helpful & efficient.
Review 103:The place is not kept in good condition. The whole building and place need improving and a bit of modern touch.
Review 104:The staff was very kind and ready to help.
Review 105:Room was very hot even though heating was turnd off.
Review 106:Lovely,friendly, helpful staff. Great breakfast catering for all tastes. Best location for visitors to Loughborough .
Review 107:Breakfast not good. Bacon undercooked virtually raw. Toast was not done. Asked for it to be browned off a bit more then it came back burnt. Third lot was ok
Review 108:It was ideally situated for our needs
Review 109:Breakfast plates were not hot. We had trouble driving to the hotel from our north direction as the street has been pedestrianised since last visit. Signs needed!
Review 110:Friendly welcome.
Review 111:Inner curtain / blind missing, wallpaper peeling, decor awful, major leak in the bathroom from under the bath, radiator valve stuck so the heat was on all the time. Air con did work but the remote control didn't, so couldn't set it properly. restaurant dinner was dreadful, couldn't finish it. Conference facilities hit & miss, always something missing or not enough. Wifi in conference room intermittent, most frustrating. Curtains were torn and tatty. Needs a major refurb.
Review 112:Staff were doing their best. Bed comfy and room clean.
Review 113:Yes, there's a walk to some of the rooms, but it's a high street hotel and an older building. If you want modern and little atmosphere, book a different hotel!
Review 114:Very friendly staff in reception and breakfast. Needed to change for wedding and they rushed one of the two rooms I'd booked for us. Help was there (and was offered) with luggage, taxis etc.
Review 115:Room was very hot. Couldn't turn off the radiator and the window wouldn't open. Everything about the room was very average.
Review 116:The room was clean.
Review 117:A disturbance during the early hours of the morning resulting in someone trying to enter my room, however this was not the fault of the hotel and as I did not make a complaint at the time I do not hold the hotel accountable.
Review 118:The location is great, staff are very welcoming and it's nice to be greeted like an old friend when I return.
Review 119:Nice clean rooms. Looked more 4 star than 3. Pictures on line do not do the hotel justice, its far better than illustrated. A special thank you to staff member Shorof who was most courteous to us and is a credit to your company.
Review 120:The staff were very accommodating and very kind, especially Callum who was on duty that day. It was a very upsetting day and Callum went out of his way to make everything easier on what was a very difficult day.
Review 121:The curtains were badly stained and dirty. There was so much dirt on the window. Heater installed in room was not effective, additional mobile unit provided to augment need in the room.
Review 122:Good reception of guest. Breakfast was good.
Review 123:Why were we checked into a room that was clearly not fit for purpose due to the awful smell?
Review 124:I complained about the awful smell in the room, and I was swiftly moved to another room which was fine, although the bed was tiny.
Review 125:The curtains are ripped. Windows are can not be shut properly. Had to put the towels into the gaps to stop listening winds. Be honest it is very old refurbished building and worst Ramada hotel I ever stayed.
Review 126:Overall hotel and room decoration looked a little worn. Scuffed wallpaper and paintwork in places. Could not get bathroom towel radiator to turn on. Wifi although free was not consistent.
Review 127:Pleasant staff throughout my stay. Central location and good-sized car park.
Review 128:At time the walking area to the rooms may need some restyling. In some areas it needs a little bit of extra stairs to take.
Review 129:I really enjoyed the Ramada atmosphere and quality of service. I enjoyed the quality of my room and the bath room.
Review 130:Having arrived tired from a long drive we discovered that outside our room at the front of the hotel were planned road replacement until 4am! Heavy machinery right outside made it impossible to sleep, fortunately the staff made a special effort to move us.
Review 131:Stayed overnight to drop son off at Uni the following day. The service from the staff particularly the night manager was excellent. They managed to get us alternative rooms in what was a 'full' hotel.
Review 132:The bed was a little hard as I have a bad back but this seems to be a common problem nowadays.
Review 133:Very polite, friendly and helpful staff, clean pleasant room, quiet at night.
Review 134:No bad feedback
Review 135:Excellent central location. Friendly helpful staff. Good self service breakfast. Large free car park - unusual for a central hotel. Large comfortable room. Would definitely stop here again.
Review 136:Just needs a spruce up.
Review 137:Stayed at Ramada while attending a steam gala at nearby Great Central Railway. Have stayed there 4 or 5 times previously and always enjoyed it. Also handy for the Loughborough town centre. Was B & B basis. Staff very friendly and helpful, breakfast very adequate and room comfy and clean. Only downside is that, compared to previous visits, it could do with a spruce up. Otherwise no complaints and we will return there in the future.
