Reviews for Newport Quay
Review 1:Peaceful, homely, beautifully decorated hotel with special atmosphere. Rare to find such high standards at such excellent value. Delicious generous breakfast served by friendly caring staff. Central with everything to hand. Perfect in every way! Thankyou everyone.
Review 2:very friendly staff - lovely clean quiet room with 4 poster bed & spa bath ! Very well situated for Shops & Restaurants . Signed up for Tourist Parking Permit before arrival - so we were able to park right outside the B&B for the whole of our 1 night stay which was excellent ! lovely cooked to order breakfast !
Review 3:Nothing except certain unfair reviews with which the owners have maintained a dignified silence. All credit to them. Their high scores say it all.
Review 4:Beauty, comfort, cleanliness, care & excellent value with magnificent wide-choice cooked breakfast. Wonderfully central & perfect balance between personal & impersonal from dedicated hoteliers doing their utmost for guests. Thankyou Martin Suki Michelle & Hannah for your caring service.
Review 5:Shame about the lack of on-site parking, but that is not unusual in the town.
Review 6:four poster bed, spa bath, great breakfasts, genial host - would certainly go again.
Review 7:Very well located - park outside the front door and easy to walk everywhere within Newport! Friendly owners & staff Very clean & tidy everywhere Free wifi Free breakfast included in the price and a great choice - very tasty!
Review 8:Over-familiarity, lack of attention to detail, awful breakfast display of tinned grapefruit and a single unstirred bowl of natural yoghourt, operators' interest in themselves at least as great as their interest in the guests, un-ventilated kichen which left a smell of stale bacon in the air, very small room, small breakfast tables over-crowded with accessories, breakafst times as short as possible - 8.00 to 9.30 - with no Sunday relaxation, draconian cancellation policies and the requirement that the full bill be paid not on departure but on arrival and the place's run-down club-like nature: one had the feeling that if one didn't agree that everything was marvellous, then one was just the wrong sort of person.
Review 9:The owner's teeth
Review 10:The building/decor and furniture is a bit tired. The sound proofing is not great;I could hear the person next door snoring and the smokers outside talking.
Review 11:The best thing was the lovely muesli and cooked breakfast. The man was very friendly, helpful and warm but the lady who checked me did not give a very warm welcome and the signs letting you know you would be fined (a minimum of £100) for losing your key and that you would be fined if you smoked in your room didn't feel welcoming. The impression I got from the website and reviews was that it was a very small and friendly place but actually I found it quite impersonal.
Review 12:Bed was hard and uncomfortable. Room was a bit pokey with shower cubicle built into corner. No bath. So called "Free WiFi" was rationed; understandable but should be mentioned in advert. Towels were 'tired' and holed, and tablecloth dirty. Shower room consumables not replenished daily.
Review 13:Breakfast was well cooked and presented, albeit limited range of food
Review 14:Parking outside is pay and display but not too expensive, 2.50 for 2 hours and free at night.
Review 15:Spacious comfortable rooms, located 20-30 minutes drive from needles, sandowen etc. staff are friendly.
Review 16:Seemed to be quite a few DIY tasks in our room that hadn't been completely finished in particular in the bathroom.
Review 17:Breakfast was well cooked and the hosts were friendly and helpful.
Review 18:Perhaps the pillows (or the mattress, not sure) could be improved a little bit. They were not the most comfortable ones.
Review 19:You get exactly what you expect from a B&B (in the good way). Excellent location, good accommodation, very good treatment from the owners and the usual full English breakfast.
Review 20:Family room was perfect - light, clean, comfortable, and roomy enough for 2 adults and 2 kids. Staff were very friendly, and breakfast was delicious.
Review 21:Very friendly staff and comfortable, light room with lovely bathroom. Well located in the middle of Newport. Plenty of information about surrounding area and attractions.
Review 22:Absolutely everything. It was a pleasure to stay here. Very helpful and very friendly owners
Review 23:Location,breakfast,tips on day outs, staff, beds the list can go on
Review 24:Floor in my small room needed vacuumed, that was the only thing I saw that needed attention.
Review 25:Location is great for pub crawls, shopping, getting some food. The Wi-Fi and TV channels were great. Breakfast was my favorite, great service. Very easy check in/out.
Review 26:The owner was just delightful. He brought a smile to everyone's faces at breakfast. I left my baby change mat there and he texted me to let me know and posted it to my home. We will definitely be back at Christmas. Thank you for a lovely stay!
Review 27:Health and safety and reaction of owner when a fire extinguisher fell from the wall to my girlfriend foot creating a massive bruise...owner did not really provide substantial supports
Review 28:Clean and good location
Review 29:Could have done with having a licensed bar.
Review 30:My Son and i stayed here (he is 20) for one night; small family run, comfortable and Staff friendly and helpful.
Review 31:Always stay at Newport Quay when on Isle of Wight, both business or leisure. Excellent friendly hosts, comfortable room and great breakfast. Will definitely return.
Review 32:Nothing. The food was very good with plenty of choice for breakfast. Plenty of tea/coffee in the room.
Review 33:Everything!! The room was lovely with a large four poster bed. Very big and very comfortable.
Review 34:I was visiting for the IOW Newport Jazz Festival and found that the location was within easy walking distance of all the venues. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Although the property was old the accomoddation was very comfortable with good facilities.
Review 35:- The height of the staircase to the attic
Review 36:- Personel was very friendly - The breakfast was also very good - very comfortable beds - Nice interior and exterior
Review 37:Disappointed that the was no hot water available at 445 in the afternoon (doesn't come back on till later apparently). Room was a single (fair enough not to give a double to a solo guest if all had been taken) but there's a single room and there's a cupboard! How the ensuite fitted a wc and shower in such a small area Ive no idea. Cramped it is. Not clean in wc either. Biggest grumble was another guest (drunk) at 3am banging at street door to get in. Not the owners fault of course, but surely the owner should have had someone on site and a doorbell to their room rather tha. The massive disturbance that ensued.
Review 38:Not a great deal to be honest
Review 39:Room was very small and to make the room seam even smaller it had the biggest double bed I have ever seen, Which ment the door going into the room & the bathroom door when open was up against tbe bed, minimal clothing storage, one small wardrobe as there was no room to put another as the bed took up the whole room, We booked on line for 3 nights but asked to check out the first morning as we had changed our mind and decided to move on, They only refunded us for one night so that ment it cost us £150 for staying there for one night ??, Not impressed with that, Thought if customer satisfaction was not met they could have at least only charged us for the one night we stayed, Considering we did not even ask for breakfast as we was leaving I thought they would have refunded the 2 nights,
Review 40:Owners very friendly on arrival and a comfortable bed,
Review 41:Very nice hotel in a quiet street yet very close to the river and shops of Newport. The room was very comfortable and the cooked breakfast was excellent. For the price I would definitely stay here again. An easy bus trip from Cowes.
Review 42:The wardrobe was quite old and there was dust on the hungers. The wifi was ok but not the best. The breakfast was nothing important.
Review 43:The room was interesting. The bed was spacious And it had a cute shape.I liked the bathroom because the actual bath and shower were new and clean and there was a lot of space. The room was warm. Friendly staff

Review 49:the absence of hotel parking through the day was an irritation.
Review 50:the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful.
Review 51:Nothing
Review 52:Warm friendly family run hotel with lots of character and nicely postioned just off the high street. Comfortably room with chairs and storage space and a nice breakfast. The owner went the extra mile to help me twice on personal matters. Plenty of parking in the street outside. Good value. I highly recommend this for a budget stay.
Review 53:I didn't like wellcome, they put 2 adults in single room, we had to ask to change a room. Internet was limited couldn't review material before meeting, second room was ok. They made us to sign terms in case if damage or smoking in the room they would charge £100. But 1st room was not in great shape had to take pictures to save myself of charges. I would not go there again.
Review 54:I liked only male host unfortunately don't remember his name. He was polite and reasonable. Location was good. I would give 2stars
Review 55:Very very small room (no 4), couldn't plug in bedside lamp as no socket near. Other socket coming off wall. Receipts from beginning of August behind bedside table, cleaning issue. Sadly the place seems very unloved.
Review 56:Breakfast and staff. Convenience to town.
Review 57:I've stated a few times this year and always made to feel very welcome. Clean, comfortable rooms and the hosts and staff are wonderful. I'll be returning again very soon.
Review 58:We stayed at hotel whilst my daughter took part in the 100km walk. The hotel was superb an old building but clean and tidy, the host was friendly and helpful, the breakfast great. We will stay there again
Review 59:1) Needed ear plugs at night - paper thin walls and ceilings meant we heard everything in rooms and corridor adjacent and above 2) mattress uncomfortable (lumpy and hard) 3) pillows just awful - no support being thin foam 4) not a hotel - just a B & B 5) very pricey for what you get
Review 60:1) excellent full English breakfast 2) friendly breakfast staff 3) nice owner 4) 4 poster room 12 is nice size 5) ensuite has spa bath and decent shower with ample hot water and good pressure although head needs replacing
Review 61:It’s very nice hotel with good location, just 5-minute walk to the city centre. The personal was helpful and friendly. Next time when I go to Isle of Wight again, I’ll stay in this place for sure!
Review 62:just about everything, room was small and claustrophobic, bed squeaked and groaned all night, not at all comfortable. 2 other guests got their money back, however I dont think I complained loud enough as I didnt.
