Reviews for Ashberry Guest House

Review 1:The Guest house is very well run with great attention to detail. Nothing is too much trouble for Phil and his wife to make sure their guests are comfortable and have everything they need. This was our fourth overnight stay in a year and we hope to be back again.

Review 2:Very friendly staff, lovely new, clean bed and breakfast, clean rooms, comfy bed, very nice breakfast! Great choice, made to feel very welcome, would stay again

Review 3:Vanda and Phil were excellent hosts - very helpful. Best breakfast ever. Will recommend to friends and family and return if we are in the vicinity again.

Review 4:Phil & Vanda were very welcoming and friendly. They told us the names of several restaurants close by where dinner was available. The room was spotless with mirrors and lights in the right places, and a nice touch was the provision of cotton buds and make-up remover pads. Breakfast was excellent with many choices of cereal, and cooked foods (they even had Vegemite).

Review 5:This was an outstanding place to stay where everything had been thought of.Phil and his wife welcomed us warmly and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Decor, comfort, shower and breakfast were all outstanding.

Review 6:Nothing

Review 8:In all our travels, we have never found a better place to stay. We find Vanda & Phil are superb hosts, nothing is too much trouble and our stays are always relaxing.

Review 9:Very friendly host and explained things very well. Room lovely and clean and well stocked with complimentary drinks. Breakfast was very good with excellent choice of food available.

Review 10:Rather uninspiring location and noisy at times late at night. No comfortable chair in room.

Review 11:Very clean well designed premises. Easily accessed from M6 for an overnight stay and also close to Ullswater. Very good breakfast. Secure parking. Handy for restaurants including an excellent Chinese in the town centre. Very reasonably overnight rate.

Review 12:Barely anything worth mentioning; the WiFi reception was a bit shoddy.

Review 13:The owners were fantastic; very informed about the local area and very good at giving us relevant info while still leaving decisions up to us. Great food, and the room quality was fantastic.

Review 14:Everything ..... location and overall feeling was excellent .Phil was an excellent host and nothing was too much trouble in fact we had a problem with our car and he was so helpful suggesting a local garage and making sure we had a room for more than the one night should we need it. If in the future we were in that part of the world the Ashberry would be our first choice

Review 15:Everything. Phil was very accommodating from the moment we arrived. The rooms are superb. The whole building is very well decorated and is very easy for the Town centre. Wish we could have got into the recommended places to eat by Phil but he did warm us they get booked up.

Review 16:The owners were very friendly and welcoming. The room we stayed in was immaculate and the bed very comfortable. The breakfast was lovely. The location was great. 5 minutes walk from the centre of town.

Review 17:You would have to be very picky to find fault here . There were no faults to my visit.

Review 18:Very nice room. Great welcome Great location. Excellent food.

Review 19:Nothing to report

Review 20:The owners of this B&B couldn't do enough to help, catering for a dairy intolerance and they even washed and dried our wet clothes after a days cycling in the rain.

Review 21:We only stayed for one night but we thoroughly enjoyed it. We were made very welcome . The room was spotless and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was great and there was plenty of options. Price was very reasonable.

Review 22:The facilities are excellent and the owners go to a lot of effort to ensure that their guests are happy and comfortable. The bed is really comfortable, the room large and airy, and the breakfast delicious.

Review 23:No bad experiences. Room warm at night but fan supplied. On main road so a little traffic noise at the front.

Review 24:Beautifully appointed property. Lovely rooms and brilliant shower. Breakfast was great and the welcome warm. Staff really good and helpful.

Review 25:Not a bad experience, but we arrived around 1.30 and were asked to come back at 4 for check in. Not really an issue, as we had to be somewhere else at 3 anyway. But others may want to notify in advance, if planning to arrive earlier..

Review 26:The quality was very good. It looked like it had been newly refurbished. The hosts were very accommodating, and child-friendly.

Review 32:Car park a bit small.

Review 33:Good size bedroom, good size toilet, very efficient shower, easy entry through side door for wheelchairs, Helpful and friendly owner, breakfast prepared to order and well cooked. Bottles of water and biscuits placed in room every day, Tea and coffee in room. Just a short walk to town. Free wifi was good.

Review 35:The room, the bed, the shower and the great welcome on arrival. Everything explained carefully and comprehensively. Breakfast was excellent with good local produce

Review 36:The Ashberry was very clean and conveniently located . It is a short walk away from town. Our host let us come in a bit early and was very helpful with directions and. suggestions for dinner. We were having trouble with our phones the next morning and he very kindly called and arranged for the cab we needed.

Review 37:We thought ashberry guest house was a great place clean comfortable . Very friendly professional hosts , great breakfast , would recommend to friends and family

Review 38:Having to leave after just one night! I'd have liked to enjoy the excellent amenities a little more, but work dictated otherwise.

Review 39:The proprietors couldn't do enough for me and the facilities were fabulous; very modern, comfortable and welcoming. As a vegan, my dietary needs were really well taken care of; a very positive experience which I'd never had to that degree staying elsewhere.

Review 40:Phil, our host has an eye for detail. From decor to our tour of the home and offering great suggestions, his sincere approach is very welcoming. Charming town.

Review 41:Great choice at breakfast especially including healthy options. Phil, the manager was extremely welcoming, thoughtful and helpful. Quiet and relaxing ambience. Modern decor and design.

Review 42:we were attending a wedding but had to travel from newcastle on the day the hotel went out of their way to allow us to get changed in our room which was well before normal check in

Review 43:Tricky parking - but they do have their own car park which is nice.

Review 44:Reasonably priced, really clean, lovely room, handy location and a great breakfast. Good powerful shower and lots of choice of teas! The host was really friendly too. Difficult to fault this place, and I'm incredibly picky.

Review 45:Everything! Honestly, they thought of every little detail, from providing make-up removal pads, to a slate slab to rest hot hair straighteners on! Hands down the best B&B I've stayed in

Review 51:Not applicable

Review 52:Ashberry Guest House is in a great location just off of the M6 and A66, and also only a short walk into the centre of Penrith. The house is very modern and the rooms are beautifully decorated. Phil and Vanda are great hosts and made us feel very welcome.; they also gave us loads of information regarding local restaurants, walks and places of interest.

Review 53:Couldn't fault it.

Review 54:Immaculate and very modern clean accommodation with lovely king size bed and beautiful bathroom. 5 minute walk to town centre so central but in a quiet area and not noisy at night at all, with large supermarket across the road. Phil was a marvellous host and very attentive and helpful. Breakfast was great with a huge selection.

Review 55:A warm welcome and a wonderful stay. Very clean, great breakfast and very comfortable. Close to plenty of places to eat and other facilities. Cannot be faulted.

Review 56:Some other guests were just rude, inconsiderate at 1am. Possibly mention noise at check in. Other than that nothing to add .

Review 57:A nice friendly BnB , modern well designed. Our room was nice, not huge but had a small en suite with shower. Shower was great, powerful. Most of the house is done out in oak furniture and to a high standard. Only one downside it felt a bit impersonal and more like a hotel but I would highly recommend. The breakfast was huge and tasty.

Review 58:We found the Ashberry Guest House lived up to our expectations in every way. It is very comfortable and welcoming, and every detail for the convenience of the guests seems to have been remembered. It is immaculately clean and the food is excellent. The owners are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. We stayed in Room 6 on the ground floor on our journey up to Scotland; this spacious room has facilities for anyone with disabilities or mobility problems, including a wet room. On our return journey we stayed in Room 3 on the first floor at the side of the house. The size of this room is adequate and again every convenience and comfort is available. The house is situated within walking distance of the town centre where we walked in the evening to get a meal. Breakfast is provided in the guest house. We don’t see that the owners could do any more to make visitors to their guest house more welcome. We wish them every success in their hard earned business.

Review 59:By a busy road, however didn't affect sleep even at the fron of the house, just as far as views were concerned.

Review 60:We were warmly welcomed and really looked after. The rooms were spotless, lovely decor and had everything we needed. Location wise it is really close to the centre and therefore lovely restaurants for safe wine & dine.

Review 61:There was nothing to dislike!

Review 62:A purpose built guest house, light and airy, with high quality furnishings, and lovely owners who couldn't do enough for us. Highly recommended!

Review 63:very clean, tidy & modern, breakfast excellent with extras, proprietor always asking if everything is fine, seems nothing is too much, would recommend, definitely will go back.

Review 64:Room slightly too small for size of bed.(or bed too large for room)!

Review 65:Everything you could want from a B&B: large comfortable bed, top quality linen, roomy power shower, clean, beatifully cooked breakfast, helpful attentive hosts and ease of location.

Review 66:* outstandingly helpful owners * attractive furniture and fittings * convenient location for Lakes * superb breakfast * very good value for money * quiet room as requested

Review 67:New room that was spotlessly clean. Close to restaurants (walking distance). Host was exceptionally friendly and attentive to details. The breakfast was really good with lots of choices. Parking was secure. Great night....thank you!

Review 68:The only thing I did not like was having to leave this wonderful establishment.

Review 69:Everything from the first warm welcome to the help supplied with parking was first class. The room was clean, very well furnished and the fantastic bathroom had all the necessary toiletries. The TV had a great range of programs and the WIFI worked well.

Review 70:car park a little tight to get out

Review 71:welcoming and friendly host. Very helpful as to were to eat out and visit. Room was spacious and comfortable. En suite facilities excellent with plenty of hot water.Breakfast menu was outstanding with choices to suite all tastes and appetites.

Review 72:Everything! Lovely new decor, friendly helpful staff, on site parking & amazing breakfast- 5 min walk to the centre of penrith, and a great price- Would defiantly stay again!

Review 73:Nothing not to like, you would have to criticize just for the sake of it to anything wrong here.

Review 74:Everything, couldn't fault it, service, cleanliness, breakfast, the hosts, the level of attention to detail.

Review 75:Penrith itself was a little disappointing, but there are good train links to the lakes and Carlisle for example.

Review 76:Hosts were very obliging and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfasts were excellent and the food plentiful. We would thoroughly recommend staying here.

Review 77:This is a purpose built very functional guest house but maybe could do with a few homely touches.

Review 78:Location close to town centre. Excellent breakfast. Cleanliness. Private car parking on site. Staff we're very helpful and friendly.

Review 79:Room was fantastic. The bed was really comfy and everything we needed in one room. Lovely friendly owner. Great breakfast in the morning to start the day. Couldn't ask for more. Would definitely stay again. 5min walk to Town Centre for Restaurants etc.

Review 80:Duvet was very heavy and room stuffy. Opening double glazed window gave traffic noise, so the duvet was the lesser of two evils.

Review 81:Attentive owner provided a great breakfast. Comfortable modern room with all facilities. Helpful advice on where to get a good evening meal. Convenient location just off the town centre.

Review 82:Spotlessly clean and modern the bed was very very comfy and massive, and the breakfast was lovely all in all superb definitely recommend this place

Review 83:Only one small glitch being housed in the superbly appointed for handicapped double bedroom downstairs there was no chair to sit on and the sink and mirror shelf height made it difficult to shave and clean teeth without kneeling!..but would be wonderful in a wheel chair and the room facility was perfect otherwise.

Review 84:The hosts were extremely accommodating and very professional. The quality of food and service was exceptional. The location on the edge of this picturesque market town could not be better with a 5 minute walk to restaurants,Sainsburys, and the town center.Ideally situated for day trips to any lakes destination -even by bus-bus stop right outside and car parking for drivers.

Review 85:We loved our stay at the Ashberry, our room was immaculate with modern furniture and fittings throughout. The breakfast was wonderful, with plenty of choice. We were warmly welcomed and given lots of local information which was a great help .We couldn't fault anything here and would definitely return.

Review 86:It was hard to pinpoint the house - it is best approached from the South on the A6.

Review 87:The building and business is only 4 years old, and the furniture and fittings were modern and in excellent condition. Breakfast was wonderful and Varied. We received a warm welcome from our host. Parking is provided.

Review 88:Nothing.

Review 89:We had an excellent stay and thought everything from the hosts to the room and facilities to the breakfast were first rate. Would definitely stay there again and would recommend the guest house.

Review 90:The Ashberry Guest House was just the cleanest guest house I have ever had the pleasure of staying in, we stayed there the night prior to my daughters wedding. although I never tasted the breakfast myself as I had to go to the nearby Roundthorn hotel to help my daughter, my husband tells me that the breakfast was superb, the room was every bit as nice as our room at the Roundthorn, although it was hot (this was a fault of the weather) but we were provided with a fan! We even suggested my daughter and her new husband stay in Penrith for a 3rd night of rest after their wedding, at this guest house, on arrival home there comment to us were the same. perfect!

Review 91:Nothing is too much trouble, Phil and Vanda are always helpful and polite, with restaurant recommendations and things to do. The breakfasts are very good and plentiful.

Review 92:First rate accommodation in every way. Although my husband and I stayed for only one night we shall certainly be booking again soon. Property is so convenient as an overnight stay as it is so close to the motorway junction. Rooms great and owner could not have been more hospitable. Excellent breakfast service and food.

Review 93:If i had to make any comment and bearing in mind I have knee replacements in both knees, it was the location. However if you wanted the accommodation as a base it was excellent.

Review 94:One of the nicest Bed & Breakfast we have ever stayed in. Lovely hosts who made your stay excellent.
