Reviews for Rooms Inn
Review 1:Shower door was broken in bathroom and staff were using the coffee machine in the breakfast/dining room. Didn't think this was appropriate.
Review 2:Receptionist was very friendly and helpful. Hotel was easy to get to from airport and conveniently located to St James Park and town centre.
Review 3:Very friendly and helpful staff, and I was pleasantly surprised by how nice the room was (I was also unexpectedly given a larger room!), especially at such a reasonable price. I had a lovely stay!
Review 4:The night shift guy was very rude and shouty we are a group of young girls going out we are going to make a tiny bit of noise and he acted like we burnt down the building and also told us we wasn't allowed in each other's rooms we are 22-23 years old not 5!
Review 5:Good location if your going out on a night only 2 min in a taxi
Review 6:No bad experiences xx
Review 7:At the time we stayed there was a fire and I couldn't praise the staff enough I had my asthmatic 9 yr old and 13 year old with me and they gave us a room to wait in which we ended up booking as it was bigger than ours and the amazing receptionist and other girl offered my boys hot chocolate and sweets as it was cold Iv stayed here before and had the same excellant service and will be staying again in March xx
Review 8:Came home after night out and had to wait 15 minutes for someone to let us in, we were left outside freezing as door was locked
Review 9:Value for money, get what you pay for, close to city centre, only £3 in taxi probably 10-15 min walk and 10 min drive to Metro Centre
Review 10:Excellent room, had a small double and although the bathroom was slightly dated in was perfectly functional. Excellent location, only a short walk into Newcastle. Plenty of parking and fantactic price
Review 11:No heating in room on arrival, staff promised a portable heater but did not deliver. My friend has very little sleep despite 2 duvets as it was 4 degrees outside and January. Manager was the only person who apparently could arrange any type of discount, but she was apparently away for a week and contactable only by email. One reception lady was very helpful and professional, the other was quite rude despite being spoken to in a very civilised way.
Review 12:Price
Review 13:Not a fault.
Review 14:Not long away from city centre, the room we had booked was amazing, I have trouble sleeping due to back problems but slept no problem at all as the bed was so comfy. Room didn't cost too much and had an en suite, really lovely. It was perfect for me and my partner since we were going out but had no way of getting home, very last minute but it was perfect for what we needed. Would definitely stay again.
Review 15:Shower plug hole was blocked nearly flooded over and shower itself was extremly hard to turn on and off apart from that everything was great
Review 16:Friendly staff good location
Review 17:Staff were average - didn't make experience special or inquire if stay was adequate
Review 18:Great central location, basic rooms but all you need for what we were staying for (new years eve night in town), location is not 'rough' at all in fact we felt safe, great free car park to use, good for one night but wouldn't stay any longer than 2 nights. Also only paid £42 so great if you are only using room to sleep in
Review 19:We were seeing a show on New Years Eve. We were asked for a deposit of £20 each to cover for potential damage. We are a group of work colleagues in our 50's for crying out loud!! We were treated like a bunch of common chavs whilst our rooms were being "inspected". Any chance they might have actually profiled their guests on reception first? We knew it was a continental breakfast which suited us fine but surely they could do better than the cheapest white sliced bread to offer. No bread rolls. No apology either written on reception or remarked with the fire alarms went off at 6:30am. Absolute joke!!!
Review 20:Value for money. However I would have preferred to pay extra and use a better hotel
Review 21:Nothing!!
Review 22:The room was excellent. I was given a Double Superior. Shower/Bathroom was excellent also. Bed very comfortable. Hotel was only 15 minute walk from Central Station. Breakfast was Continental. Good value.
Review 23:Staff could be a little more welcoming. .... I know it's not always the way you feel on the day but a positive output generates a positive response ....that's got to make your day go better
Review 24:Good sized room very clean
Review 25:New years eve visit, the reception staff disappeared when needed, night porter kept banging on peoples doors all night and finally got to sleep at 3.40 am and fire alarm went off, ended up checking out early and driving 100 miles home to sleep.
Review 26:Clean room, good facilities, modern decor and ideally situated.
Review 27:DO NOT stay on the bottom floor. Walls are paper thin and late night residents can keep you awake. Also the double room isn't exactly big. More space in the single room.
Review 28:Staff friendly and approachable. 10 mins walk from Newcastle City centre
Review 29:I can't think of anything to criticise about the room I was in. Only thing is that on website it looks as if smaller rooms may not have a desk which would be a nuisance for me.
Review 30:By far the most central place you can get in this price range, only 15 mins from train station. Fantastic value for money. Spotlessly clean. Excellent standard of plumbing in all bathroom fittings. Real wardrobe with real hangers. Shelf and cupboard space. A desk with padded chair.
Review 31:All of it for the money paid really good value. Was not sure what to expect but the hotel is clean and the rooms lovely. We had to get taxi back from town as we had not realised how far away (half hour walk) we were, but that in no way reflects on the quality of the hotel.
Review 32:Saturday night is twice as expensive and can be noisy from stag parties staying which prevent you from getting any sleep.
Review 33:Great location for visiting the metro radio arena. Comfortable hotel and free parking.
Review 34:Very noisy early morning with members of staff standing outside our room whilst on their phones, however our room was located quite close to the main entrance so this could have contributed to the noise, but this wouldn't stop me returning at a future date
Review 35:Great location for the arena and value
Review 36:Lots of stuff was either dirty or broken, we were woken up early by noisy staff in the kitchen/laundry (?) chatting and laughing and when I went out in my pjs and asked them to keep it down they just laughed at me.
Review 37:Easy to get into town, reception staff were nice, reasonably furnished.
Review 38:Not as central as I thought it would be. Didn't realise breakfast was continental only! Therefore think £89-00 for the room was a bit excessive.
Review 39:Good size, clean room. Comfortable bed. Good shower. Tea and coffee provided.
Review 40:It was very noisy. The staff woke us up around 7am talking, laughing and walking very loudly up and down the corridor. We were unable to go back to sleep as a result and it was quite unpleasant. If we stayed there again I would, under no circumstances stay on the bottom floor corridor.
Review 41:The location was great and the room was nice.
Review 42:The building, furnishings and rooms are really tired. The difference in beds between the two rooms was surprising (thankfully we ended up with the better beds once relocated). Breakfast room was stifling hot.
Review 43:"It's the putting right that counts" - when we discovered the room we were originally assigned had a broken window that would not latch to keep out the extremely strong windy conditions, we were moved to an adjacent room with minimal fuss. Staff service at reception and in the breakfast room was exceptional.
Review 44:Paint badly flaking off bathroom door looked like it had suffered from water damage. Staff did not point out free WiFi.
Review 45:Nice and quiet. Friendly staff. Good location.
Review 46:I thought the breakfast was terrible especially for the price. Not much choice for food we basically spent £10 on a toasted ham sandwich and a cup of coffee.
Review 47:I thought the room was lovely and well kept and the staff where very pleasant.
Review 48:Well where do I start... Woman on reception was very rude. You can hear everything that your next door neighbour is up to. Whoever is above you, you can hear their footsteps constantly. Fan in toilet was filled with hair and dust - horrible.
Review 49:Good selection on tv. Nice bed.
Review 50:Shower flooded floor- not a big deal but could be Slippy for young or older folk
Review 51:Perfect location for metro radio arena Comfy spacious room excellent price
Review 52:A bit difficult to find, could do with further signs at the other side of the building if you happen to be approaching from the side where the play park is as it's sandwiched in amongst some other housing.
Review 53:It was fine, clean, friendly staff, would use again.
Review 54:Not being informed when breakfast was served at what times or what time we needed to check out.
Review 55:Friendly and helpful staff, rooms where clean and comfortable and in a central location!
Review 56:Being non smokers we were appalled to find the room allocated to us had an overpowering cigarette smoke smell. When reported there was no offer of a change of room. It was very disappointing and not at all like our last visit which gave us no cause for complaint.
Review 57:The staff were all pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was very nice and good value.
Review 58:Noisy, lack of facilities, the room wasn't very clean as it seemed to be. UNSAFE. Someone was even trying to break into my room at the middle of night. It's terrifying.
Review 59:Cheap, ok distance from the city cetre
Review 60:No restaraunt or bar in hotel very basic , room was clean but carpet was very grubby could be doing with getting a new one , also went through 6 different key cards for room as it stopped workin bit of a nuisance although staff were on top form when getting a new one
Review 61:Close to town using car not too dear using a taxi either though
Review 62:When we arrived after my friend had travelled 4 hours to visit me from home, there was no hot water. Our room was on the ground floor opposite the car park, which we didn't mind, but the curtains were literally see through. We had to hang towels up, because the shower curtain wouldn't go all the way around. The room was freezing cold, we complained about the heating three times before we were heading out, nobody resolved the issue. We were told ''we hope it doesn't ruin your stay". We got in at early hours of the morning, I had to ask for extra quilts. There was no offer to change the room or give any refund. Me or my friend weren't expecting a 5* stay at all, but this was just ridiculous, paying £80 and we didn't even receive the basics.
Review 63:The hotel was well situated, close to the local bars and restaurants. Only £5 taxi ride into the centre!
Review 64:Noise from other guests returning at 3am and also staff preparing for breakfast talking in the corridor outside our room from around 6.30 am . On checking out we were not asked if we enjoyed our stay or were there any issues /difficulties during our stay by the receptionist.
Review 65:Free car parking Plenty of fresh towels.
Review 66:On our second morning we were woken up by a large group next door shouting and banging in the rooms and corridor. After trying to ignore it and as they got louder we heard a member of staff asking them to be quiet and problem was resolved. As said before our room was a bit tatty but okay for the money.
Review 67:Quick and easy check in. Rooms were clean but were a bit tatty (ripped wallpaper/dents in walls and scuffed paint). Great location for the money and as we were hardly in hotel it was okay for us. The hotel was more for younger crowd so would avoid for families.
Review 68:Very noisy, wit people coming and going at all hours, the rooms near reception on the ground floor especially, the premises has tiled floors !!!! surely this needs to be addressed to keep noise levels down.
Review 69:Ease of Booking and checking in & out
Review 70:Non ci sono ristoranti in zona e il centro dista 20 minuti a piedi. No restaurant nearby, city center is at 20 mins on foot.
Review 71:Pulito, membri dello staff disponibili e sempre pronti ad aiutare in caso di necessità. Clean, staff members always available to give you a hand.
Review 72:Nothing to dislike
Review 73:Always fantastic, great location, great parking, great prices, superior rooms are lovely, comfy beds, friendly efficient staff. Perfect
Review 74:I was unable to find my room and the girl had left the desk - the c c t v of me going up and down and round and round would be comical to watch!
Review 75:Generally uncluttered. Good value.
Review 76:The hotel is located slightly outside of the city center, but the walk is manageable. However, the area is on the verge to rough and the exteriour of the hotel made me a bit worried regarding what the rooms would look like. The rooms were definitely a lot better than the facade, and one can tell the hotel has done a good job refurbing them!
Review 77:Good value and simple but clean rooms. Comfortable bed and big bathroom. Quiet during the night.
Review 78:The room was excellent, all was clean, shower was particularly good. Would definitely recommend the superior double, just the right amount of space. Location is also good. Slightly out of town but everything is within walking distance
Review 79:Station facing room side network is not stable enough, worse than car park side. I knew this since I extended my staying for two night and lived in different rooms
Review 80:Walking distance to Newcastle station. Quiet area. Living quality is not bad, worth its cost.
Review 81:Room and bathroom is a bit old and dated, though we were in the older half, not the newer addition. More concerningly I think both myself and my partner got bitten by bed bugs while we were there. I've had bed bug bites before and these look and feel exactly the same. I'm covered in them now and feel ridiculously itchy. I'll be informing the hotel in the hope that they get the room fumigated.
Review 82:Nice motel-type place close to town for a very good price.
Review 83:Everything except parking facilities. What an advert for Newcastle to our visitors from South Africa
Review 84:As near to a youth hostel as I've been in. No facilities whatsoever. Charging £100 per night simply because of RWC. Absolute rip-off
Review 85:Building looked like an industrial office unit and the surrounding area a bit seedy. Normal tariff rates probably ok but did not warrant the higher rate charged during the rugby weekend.
Review 86:Close location to St James's Park as the purpose of my visit was the World Cup rugby.
Review 87:I stay here quite a lot but this recent stay was the worst. No bath :( and in middle of night room was accessed by people obviously a mistake but how ?
Review 88:Woke up at 2:30am covered in bed bug bites, caught 1 bug in a clear cup to show staff. The night porter apologised and moved us to a new room. The next morning, i spoke to the manager whom had "checked the room and found nothing" and was adament what i'd found and had been bitten by wasn't a bed bug. I showed her the cretin i'd captured and the long line of bites then she admitted they'd had issues before. She refused to give me a refund and has not replied to several attempts to contact her. Shocking customer service and very dirty facilities. My advice would be to stay somewhere else.
Review 89:Night porter very understanding and helpful.
Review 90:Didn't like the small, locked breakfast facility and no loo available for guests downstairs a problem when checkin not available until 2pm though I was allowed to use the staff toilet!
Review 91:Location and room as one would expect
Review 92:A little bit more cleenness, then it's nice. the bathroom wants for some touch up...
Review 93:The Hotel is'nt far away the city centre - good to walk in 10minutes. The breakfast is a good continental breakfast in a nice small room.
Review 94:Roomed were very noise first room was smelly and the second was next to the breakfast room. This room was used as a head office (which is in the hotel) break room and again very noisy
Review 95:Staff were friendly and nice
Review 96:Walked in room and it stank of stale smelly feet. Bed had springs protruding out mattress and the staff walked up and down corridor all night talking loudly. Would never stay here again. Would rather sleep in the car
Review 97:Nothing
Review 98:There are no lift in the building.
Review 99:The room is large and comfortable, clean and tidy. Staff is friendly and kind. It's a good choice for people travel to Newcastle.
Review 100:I was in room 103 which us right next door to the kitchen/staff area. at 3.30am every morning, the staff set the dining room up for breakfast. They noisily trundled a trolley with crockery on up and down the corridor. They put the dishwasher on and shouted along the corridor to each along the corridor. When I went out to see what the commotion was, a man with shoulder length black hair, black shirt and trousers on said 'just tidying up'. I queried why this had to be done at 3.30am and he just shrugged his shoulders. this happened EVERY SINGLE MORNING!!! I asked to change my room but was told hotel was fully booked. I told the receptionist at checkout how noisy my stay had been and all she said was 'if you stay again, ask for an upstairs room'. I won't be staying again! the room had the view of a staff smoking area with plastic garden chairs on a gravel floor. The carpet was dirty as was the bathroom and there were flies in the the room when I arrived. I had to open the windor to get rid of them.
Review 101:Bed was comfy
Review 102:The staff were very helpful , the room we stayed in was clean an spacious , the shower was excellent , And the blackout curtains were brill. Thank you for a nice stay.
Review 103:-Some of the reception staff were quite abrupt when I couldn't open the door as I didn't know how to use the key fob. - I felt £75 was a lot of money to pay.
Review 104:- Room was of a great quality - Great facilities - Great location
Review 105:It was about a mile from the city centre. That that far but was too far just to nip back to hotel for something
Review 106:Staff were great and pleasent, got more than expected with what I paid, due to cleanness of the hotel and comfort of the beds. Overall really good stay. Thank you
Review 107:It was a really hot week and unfortunately there wasn't much ventilation in the bedroom. There was a building site next door which was a shame as it became noisy in the mornings.
Review 108:Affordable (even for the best rooms!), clean and comfortable. Not too far away from the centre.
Review 109:Wifi didn't work in the bedroom but not seriously important as we spent most of the day out. Noisy fan from next room and rather stuffy at night due to not being able to open the window very much.
Review 110:Close proximity to the centre so we could walk into town, good bus route outside the hotel, very helpful staff, good value for money.Breakfast more than adequate for the price.Tidy and clean rooms.
Review 111:Dirty rooms, shower didn't work, no sleep due to noise from 2am-6am (people banging on doors, shouting, furniture being dragged accross a tile floor in the corridoor outside our room) and no staff to complain to or tell anyone to be quiet.
Review 112:Leaving the next day
Review 113:its very hot in the room, even at night. the sink in the shower is diffrant for hot and cold water and its not comfterble like this. slow wifi
Review 114:big room in good and quiet lockation. good for 2-3 days of stay but not in the summer when its very very hot.
Review 115:Breakfast was aweful - a few muffins a loaf of bread, some asda wafer thin ham rolled into flutes and some cheese does not constitute a £4.95 continental breakfast
Review 116:Tidy clean comfortable hotel
Review 117:The hotel was not 'across the road from the station' as advertised but a ten minute walk through a rough housing estate. Our room was uncomfortably hot and due to noise from the housing estate at night we couldn't have the window open.
Review 118:Budget hotel, decent enough for a short stay. Breakfast had a good selection of cereal and coffee.
Review 119:I travelled up to Newcastle and stayed at the Rooms Inn because I had a job interview nearby. The interview went quite badly and I returned to the hotel feeling pretty down and crying! Shaun on reception was absolutely lovely! He made sure that I was going to be ok by offering me hot chocolate and chatting to me until I was alright again. Shaun really went above and beyond to make sure to give the best service and care that he could possibly give. He really did cheer me up and I'm very grateful! Shaun is the friendliest hotel receptionist I've ever come across and he deserves a big promotion for going the extra mile in his job to ensure customer satisfaction! The bed was really comfy and the room was spacious and clean. The hotel was quiet and I had a good night's sleep. But Shaun was the best part of my stay! If I come back to Newcastle, I will be staying here again!
Review 120:Very noisy occupants in rooms around us. Guests knocking very loudly and repeatedly on doors in hallway in early hours of morning and leaving doors open playing loud music. Woke us 3 nights running. No staff attended and spoke to anyone. We didn't wish to get into conflict with groups of young people so remained silent. Disappointing that staff didn't speak to them as the noise could be heard clearly from entrance hall. Upon leaving staff didn't ask about our stay. Stayed here twice before and staff were a lot more friendly on the past occasions
Review 121:Location and bed and room
Review 122:No air con
Review 123:Only a short walk to the town. I was surprised how big the rooms were, bed was nice and comfy and a nice hot shower pleasant surprise as it was a cheaper option, free parking a bonus.
Review 124:I had to go to reception 3 times to change rooms as the first 3 were not cleaned from the previous guests. However my 4th room was fine. Staff most helpful.
Review 125:Room was clean and tidy. What I'd expect for the price. Staff very helpful.
Review 126:No bedside light & switch to main light by the door which made it awkward turning off the light & finding your way in the dark to the bed.
Review 127:Helpful staff & free parking (very important) as few city hotels do parking, as we know to our cost!.
Review 128:The bed wasn't comfy what so ever I'm afraid. My partner works for a bed company and observed the bed and belives it to be very old. The lamps were very dusty and the room was to hot so found it really hard to sleep even with two fans on.
Review 129:I loved that we were not far from town. Loved that we were out of the way.
Review 130:only continental breakfast available. Biggest issue is difference in cost of the same room dependent on the day you are staying
Review 131:location and service from staff
Review 132:Room was too hot, windows didn't open fully, got overcharged, on the last day the shower wasn't working properly & looked different compared to the pictures
Review 133:Comfortable bed & good location, not far from the city centre
Review 134:Some of the other guest were a bit noisy coming in at 6am and knocking on everyone's doors and had a little trouble with the flush in the bathroom but was fixed by room service for the following two days
Review 135:The room was massive, one of the best I've stayed in and well kept in the new end of the building and was in walking distance of everything. The staff were brilliant.
Review 136:Characterless decor but it's functional.
Review 137:Located just outside the centre of town. Comfortable and functional. Was good value getting a room at £45.
Review 138:No air conditioning. The room was really hot and even though we slept with the window open it was really uncomfortable
Review 139:Room was spacious, bed was comfortable. Decent price.
Review 140:The matress topper made the bed a little uncomfortable. Generally clean but lacked attention to detail, white threads on the carpet and stairs had not been vacuumed
Review 141:Location was perfect. Price was good. Free parking
Review 142:no phone, no iron as advertised water was coldish even after i ran it a wile. lots of stag and hen parties so quite noisey
Review 143:relatively cheap, spacious and free car parking
