Reviews for Highlands Hotel
Review 1:The view from our room was outstanding, and the service both from the reception and the restaurant staff was excellent. also the hotel rooms were kept very clean.
Review 2:The free wi-fi was slow and a bit awkward to use unless you stayed in one place. The ensuite bathroom was functional but not a place to linger in - e.g. fabric shower curtain. Tiny TV. The hotel has a dated look and common areas were OK but not up to "international" standards. £150 per night we felt was a bit high for the size and quality of the room and facilities - even in August.
Review 3:The staff were very friendly and helpful at all times. The breakfasts were excellent. The ambiance was lovely and quiet. Our balcony room had a wonderful view overlooking the sea and the cliffs - if we left the balcony door open at night we could fall asleep to the sound of the waves. Amazing location especially if you like cliff-top walks and close to fantastic beaches.
Review 4:Nothing
Review 5:The location was absolutely stunning, the hotel staff were so obliging and helpful - the locals were also very friendly and helpful. Would definitely go back again.
Review 6:An indoor pool would have been lovely.
Review 7:Attentive, polite, friendly staff. Hotel quiet no problems with noise at night. If you want a base to explore then this is the place
Review 8:no aircon - got bitten by mosquitoes as had to have the balcont doors open to cool the room down to sleep
Review 9:wonderful location (as long as you have a car and the weather is good enough to make the most of the outside facilities
Review 10:Evening meals. But there are plenty of great places to eat nearby.
Review 11:Wonderful staff. Couldn't do enough for us. Even took the baby off for a little stroll so we could eat undisturbed. The owner is very present overlooking everything and it shows. Breakfast was lovely everything freshly cooked to order.
Review 12:Guy in the room above could snore for England, usually a inter room phone call wakes them up and gives you a chance to get asleep again, but no phones in rooms
Review 13:Jersey is quiet but this is even quieter, Ideal location for cliff walks and sunset picnics, mind the hooligan gulls.
Review 14:Nothing.
Review 15:I loved the Hotel terrace which had unspoilt view over looking the sea. It's in a very peacefu location with good bus connections. If like walking there are great paths/roads to take with amazing views.
Review 16:no bad experiences just a nice quiet stay.
Review 17:being without a car having a bus route close bye was great i could go anywhere I liked looking out at the rabbits it reminde4d me of my homeland in Ireland as i lived in the country. I would love to return some day and see the same staff.
Review 18:The location (whilst absolutely beautiful) was a little bit too remote for us would have liked to have been within walking distance of some nightlife as the hotel was very quiet in the evening with most guests in bed by 10pm
Review 19:The staff couldn't do enough for you, spotlessly clean, we didn't expect the room to be clean everyday.
Review 20:Everything was perfect! The staff made the stay very good we couldn't of asked for more,Nothing was any trouble even got our fresh milk for our cup of tea. Also they catered for gluten free. Just an amazing stay.
Review 21:Bed was hard. Shower needs updating and WiFi was slow. Hotel was a bit quiet for us but if you are looking for a quiet hotel this will be perfect for you
Review 22:Lovely hotel friendly staff good food plenty of parking breakfast and dinner was fab.
Review 23:A little cool to use the lovely pool but really loved relaxing on green grass with gorgeous views.
Review 24:Gorgeous location..Fabulous breakfast..best croussants ever! Lovely decor. I loved climbing the beautiful heather covered cliffs just below the hotel...and charming light house area.
Review 25:Rather than a dislike, the rooms could be supplied with cooling fans either desk top of free standing and a small fridge in each room would be a great asset.
Review 26:The rooms were cleaned every day to a respectable standard; including the top of the wardrobe! Waiting staff were polite and very helpful. Breakfast was plentiful and staff were more than willing to top up on coffee/tea/toast. Location was fabulous.
Review 27:Bathroom could do with upgrading. But a minor issue.
Review 28:Very friendly and helpful staff, beautiful views, lovely swimming pool and play area, great sized family room. Fab hotel!
Review 29:breakfast staff who couldn't bother to greet me with a 'Good morning' after the first morning, but they managed to greet all other guests! Maybe solo travellers are less visible than couples and families. As a result, on my last day I didn't even bother with breakfast.
Review 30:Hotel is very well located near the lighthouse and is very peaceful. Clean room. Wifi that works. Tea/coffee making facility. Local information provided by the receptionist.
Review 31:There was evidence of leaking or flooding on one of the carpets as the stains were on show. There wasn't enough to the fry up breakfast, only 1 piece of each!
Review 32:the overall feeling of the hotel was one of relaxation and ease. The view was really good, the pool was a nice addition to dip into whenever you felt like you needed it to cool off from the weather.
Review 33:Good standard of accommodation but might need a bit of renovation shortly
Review 34:Particularly liked the gals of champagne on arrival - very welcome. Staff were friendly and service was excellent.
Review 35:For the price the room was very basic and old fashioned. The breakfast was also very basic. I suppose you pay for location.
Review 36:The location is fantastic.
Review 37:The staff were excellent and so friendly. The hotel is certainly not luxurious, but the staff were always smiling and friendly and no request was too much for them.
Review 38:Unheated pool!!! Thin bedroom walls!
Review 39:The outgoing friendly and very helpful staff, nothing was too much trouble and they made us feel welcome. The food service was very good.
Review 40:Well, nothing, really.
Review 41:Nice room, everything clean, well-painted, lots of parking space, nice restaurant with attentive staff. Great location at Corbiere Point, also has bus service.
Review 42:dining areas no air conditioning therefore doors open to the elements to try and keep area cool.flies tend to be a major pain.
Review 43:staff excellent, very helpful had a mix up with booking, not hotel fault. was given a reimbursement equal to one night stay without being asked. lovely breakfasts, evening meals good one night and average next night. room spotless and no problems with shower as others have complained. stayed in room facing road not a noise problem and nice and cool at night not getting sun during the day
Review 44:Rock hard pillows! Not good. A choice of two soft two hard wld be much better.
Review 45:Access to beech Swimming pool Out of town Easy parking Fab views 360' Staff very helpful & very nice
Review 46:The only negative as has been mentioned by another reviewer, was the rather weak shower. Could do with a power shower but other than that, no complaints.
Review 47:We were a party of 3 couples and we found everything about the hotel exceptionally good. We had the evening meal each night of our 3 day stay and the food was excellent as was the breakfast. All the staff were helpful, polite and courteous.
Review 48:Bathroom clean but shower unit in need of update. Mosquitoes a real problem during the early hours - still suffering a week later.
Review 49:Superb location with stunning views all round. More than ample breakfast choice. A very relaxed atmosphere - a very pleasant stay.
Review 50:The guy using a petrol strimmer right outside our ground floor window at 8am on a Saturday morning. We had to explain what a sandwich was to the waitress (really). The shower provided only a small dribble of water. Not the hotel's fault - but impossible to get a taxi even at two hours notice on a saturday afternoon (really).
Review 51:Stunning location, access to good walks and coast. Good terrace and small outdoor pool. One or two charming staff.
Review 52:nothing
Review 53:Staff seemed to have changed since being there before but I find Highlands is all the basics that you need for a nights stay. good breakfasts, got upgraded which was lovely.
Review 54:The peaceful location surprised us on such a small island. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Breakfasts were delicious and generous, good selection. Reception particularly helpful with trip planning, post and information.
Review 55:The shower above the bath was difficult to adjust and not very powerful; the toiletries were all in sachets-impossible to open whilst IN the shower; the evening meal was fine but not very imaginatively presented.
Review 56:The location was perfect with wonderful sea views; the outside seating area was restful and pleasant with a lovely pool; the staff were friendly and helpful without exception; the bed was large and comfortable and the room was quiet and relaxing at night; the breakfast was freshly cooked.
Review 57:Menu too restricted Shampoo and conditioner should be separate Mattress uncomfortable
Review 58:Location Breakfast Reception ie Katherine Pool Relaxed atmosphere
Review 59:Bathroom needs updating. Ventilation in circular lounge
Review 60:Location. Attitude of all the staff. Good breakfasts. Cleanliness. Lovely peacefull garden.
Review 61:Watch out for very hot water(there was a warning sign) Car needed(we had ours). Room a bit small(No. 4) Like many Jersey/UK hotels overpriced in comparison to foreign competition
Review 62:Great spot for a relaxed break. Stunning views Very very helpful staff. Extremely comfortable bed and plenty of soft towels!
Review 63:Room 23 - avoid - very clean, but needs updating - sink in bedroom, and 1980's pink sanitaryware. It's also over the bar and we were woken up at 1.30am when people came in - they weren't shouting - just could hear every word! Needs some floor soundproofing.
Review 64:Very attentive and friendly staff. Seaview room our daughters had, had been updated and was very modern and clean, with a fantastic view. Breakfast - good choice and well cooked.
Review 65:Shower was a bit low on pressure but nice and hot so wasn't bothered. Found the room walls a bit poorly sound insulated but didn't stop me sleeping.
Review 66:Welcoming staff, great breakfast and complimentary coffee on arrival to enjoy pool side while filling in the short check in form. Restaurant and bar staff were great, never had to wait for long to be served. Single room was comfortable and with a view of the sea. Excellent location, a minutes walk from Corbiere lighthouse, few minutes drive / cycle to the nearest sandy beach beauport and also Red Houses close by if want to buy some food for the day. Over all happy with the price and service. Thanks
Review 67:The evening meal was as if it came out of a box . Had fish and chips which was if frozen from Tesco etc. Only had meal on one night as it was better from other establishments. Not good value.
Review 68:Overall a good stay ,good welcome and excellent staff, very clean . Excellent breakfast.
Review 69:would liked to have had a room with seaview. Don't think there was an option at time of booking, even though we booked early.
Review 70:the hotel was in a quiet picturesque part of the island. Good bus route into St Helier so no need to take car. Fabulous walking here too.
Review 71:Some of the waitresses left us waiting for food for a long time yet they would serve other guests who would have come to the dining area after us. Due to this I feel there was some unfairness.
Review 72:The room and the food was excellent . Easy access to the beaches with the bus stop a few yards from the hotel. Most of the staff were very friendly.
Review 73:My allocated room was not the same as my sister's but we paid the same amount of money. Beds were not made properly, only just covered with a duvet without the sheets being straightened and we had to keep going to the reception to ask for things. At times I felt we were being discriminated
Review 74:Food was good and enough. Well cooked and tasty.
Review 75:The room does require an upgrade. I needs bringing up to the same standard as the restaurant and reception.
Review 76:That staff were great. The food etc brilliant. The location is very good as I like walking .
Review 77:Shower very slow & temperature completely unpredictable. Dinner flavour good but sent back as not hot & plate cold, so only ate once. Breakfast choice ok but cooked food very greasy! Stood waiting to be allocated a table.
Review 78:Hotel very clean, staff friendly & helpful but not well trained. Our double room was clean, spacious & comfortable. Views & location idyllic.
Review 79:Our overall impression of the hotel was very good. That good that we stayed an additional night there. The view, the pool and the location next to the lighthousewere extraordinary. The breakfast as well very good and the staff friendly.
Review 80:The shower in my otherwise very comfortable, clean and relaxing room, needed a little attention and update.
Review 81:Very friendly and homely atmosphere, good food, super location, quiet to come back to after a busy day and sit on patio overlooking the sea with your favourite tipple, easy access to your chosen activity with bus terminus 50 yds away, if walking then fabulous location to venture out on foot to other super coastline bays, beaches and good restaurants.
Review 82:Friendly staff. Excellent service. Stunning location. The staff work very hard, nothing is to much trouble. Complimentary drink on arrival, luggage taken to your room. Plenty to choose from at breakfast. Will definitely be going again.
Review 83:We had a few small niggles. The staff need more training and better organising and this would become an excellent hotel. They only let themselves down in little ways and they could be easily eliminated.
Review 84:The location is very good. The staff try very hard to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Don't let our "didn't lilke" put you off choosing this hotel and to get the best out of your visit hire a car.
Review 85:The staff was surprisingly bad trained. They let guests wait in line for breakfast, for coffee, the, toast. They ask what you want, but dont listen to the answer. One even made faces behind the back of customers... Also the fod in the restaurant was not good. We tried once, and didn't repeat.
Review 86:Excellent location. Nice room. Good pool area.
Review 87:Average evening meals and Unable to order food after 8.15 pm suggest lighthouse restaurant next door for quality and views Beds need replacing v uncomfortable in our we used our duvet as a topper !
Review 88:Superb location quiet and lovely views Friendly staff Bus stop nearby Good breakfasts Balcony room recommended !
Review 89:Noisy pipework in the bathroom when tap switched on. Slow filling cistern of toilet - can't flush twice if say others need to use the toilet!
Review 90:Staff always helpful & food were excellent. Wide choice of meals, suitable for everyone and presentation/quantity also very good. Rooms cleaned every day.
Review 91:Gorgeous location in the southwest, perfect base for exploring the island on bikes or walking. Staff could not do enough to help - early checkin, arrange bikes, arrange taxis, mind bags during the day - fantastic experience! Lovely breakfast served.
Review 92:They class the rooms as having sea views when one side of the hotel has great views of the sea and the other side has a poor glimpse of the sea either side of trees. If you want a proper sea view book a room over looking the pool. Also we had a double room but it had two single beds pushed together. Not the same with two quilts and two mattresses. Only left one roll of toilet paper. Had to ask for more.
Review 93:Location and quietness. Really friendly waitress.
Review 94:Not a lot, maybe some one to ban the soap operas being watched in the bar area!!!!! Joking
Review 95:Great place to stay, on the coast with loads off places to view, Jersey is only a small island so everywhere is only 20 minutes away. The hotel staff were really nice and helpfull, (smiles and enthusiastic when talking to you) I stayed on a business trip, was gutted when I could not get in on my next longer trip. Really good vaule for your money.
Review 96:The dinner was disappointing. Even though it was good value at £19.99 for 3 courses, it appeared that 'mum had been to Iceland'
Review 97:Fantastic location with attentive and friendly staff.
Review 98:Had a problem with shower. Boiling water coming out and very low pressure. When mentioned they tried to correct straight away but couldn't so had to use bath instead.
Review 99:Position and views fabulous. Staff all very attentive and friendly.
Review 100:Our sea view room was looked into by the circular lounge windows. Car park could do with an upgrade.
Review 101:Quiet and scenic location, great for car owners and walkers.

Review 109:staff were brilliant
Review 110:Lovely quiet hotel with sea views all round. We used the games room and there was a good patio area around the pool. Good food and friendly staff.
Review 111:Noise from room next door - music and talking into early hours meant very little sleep
Review 112:Location
Review 113:Fantastic location (but you'll need transport to get around)
Review 114:Bed a little hard.
