Reviews for The Normandie
Review 1:Had a room at front of hotel a bit noisy wood ask for a room at back next time
Review 2:Staff friendly nice size room enjoyed the breakfast and evening meal wood stay again
Review 3:San Miguel was off ..everything was tired ..but was closing for a month for a complete refit which probably explains these reasons
Review 4:Liked the fact nearness of town
Review 5:Very noisey up until 1.30 am especialy if your in a back room door constanty slaming as smokers go out and a lot of swearing shouting from drunk punters i no its a pub but to look at you would expect it to be more of a resturant and not open so late
Review 6:Breakfast was very good and staff helpfull
Review 7:cleaning and maintenance needs a review. carpets need to be replaced as quite shabby, worn and stained.
Review 8:staff had good attitude and quite friendly, food quite good.
Review 9:Double booked. Was relocated with little apology and then asked to pay a further £15 which I refused. The place smelled.
Review 10:Not there for long enough to comment.
Review 11:Tired looking place, in need of some TLC. Took 4 attempts to find a clean wine glass sums the place up. Not planning another stay!
Review 12:Food good. Big rooms.
Review 13:Cozy and welcoming not too dated. Staff were friendly and helpfull. Could come and go as you like. Bed comfy. On suit comfortable large room. Lovely breakfast
Review 14:Best hotel staff ever, so helpful polite my sister is slightly disabled and they could not do enough for her storing her walking frame downstairs carried all luggage up stairs for us, great food, made us feel at home, great breakfasts.
Review 15:The bedroom was nice and warm, plenty of hot water, comfortable bed. Nice towels and tray of coffee etc and kettle. Sky TV. Wifi. Cheering fire downstairs in bar. Newspapers to read. Very good breakfast. Staff very helpful. Large room with settee and armchair. Situated in middle of town. Cheap car park minutes walk away.
Review 16:found it a little noisy but it was due to iron man weekend also found accees to room challenging aswe did not realise the stairs would be so steep when we booked
Review 17:room goodb breakfast was good and staff were plesant and helpfull
Review 18:The room was not very clean, the bathroom had mold around the silicone, grouting and ceiling and the floor tiles were loose. The carpet was dirty with stains and there was a hair hanging off the lamp above the bed. There was also an unpleasant smell in the room. It is a shame because the location was great but felt that for £90 per night the room was not up to standards.
Review 19:Location and staff were friendly
Review 20:We had to clean the front of the drawers as they were very sticky. Cleaner came in once and the bed was just as we left it. Our last morning breakfast, we had to ask for toast. and had to eat it off a serviette as no plates were provided, the waitress started cleaning up the table around us before we had finished.
Review 21:The location.
Review 22:Had a small front room, first night was very noisy until 2-30 am as bar open til 1am. Then they were all outside in the street.
Review 23:Central to everything and near car park.
Review 24:Room a bit shabby and extremely noisey evenings from nearby club ( we were warned about this both on website and when we arrived, but did not expect it so loud every night!)
Review 25:Excellent central location and friendly customer service .Ate one meal there which was very good but pub very busy throughout weekend.
Review 26:if I had to say anything carpet was tied.but it would not put me off staying there again
Review 27:The hotel was well situated for shops and car parks. staff were friendly and help full, good selection of meals on the menu, clean and comfortable room.
Review 28:Most central location you'll find in Tenby! The evening manager was a really nice person - enjoyed chatting to him. The harbour is no more than a five minute walk away, and the shops/pubs are on the same street as the hotel.
Review 29:The window didn't close properly and wasn't double glazed so the outside noise from people and seagulls was so loud we found it hard to get any sleep. So we felt pretty tired when we left after 3 nights.
Review 30:The whole building is filthy and there is no double glazing so the noise from the nightclub close by is very loud. It sounds like you're in the nightclub. The fan didn't work in the bathroom and the shower was very stiff to use. The bath panel was rotten and you could write your name in the dust on the headboard,. Would not stay here again. Would not have stayed here if we hadn't already paid. Very overpriced for what you got.
Review 31:Not able to get a coffee durng the day. Arrived an hour early, 2pm, and had to wait for room; thought we'd read a paper and have a coffee; told coffee and tea only served with breakfast. Went elsewhere for a coffee.
Review 32:Eveything. Clean premises, attentive staff, quick service, good food at a fair price, excellent room. Fantastic breakfast.
Review 33:Rooms at the front can be very noisy, one night when the bar was open late it continued until 2AM. The stair carpet up to the rooms was really dirty however the rooms were OK.
Review 34:Centrally located. In the middle of this busy little resort. Lots of pubs and restaurants.
Review 35:We have stayed in a lot of hotels the staff seemed pleasant but the room had broken light fittings mould on the silicone in the bathroom, damp patches and the shower wouldn't work properly all these things could be sorted by a tradesman in one afternoon. We waited for an hour for our breakfast which was annoying because we had a seven hour journey.... All these things would have been bearable if it was a £50 a night room but it was £180 for two nights we have stayed in top London hotels for that... Sorry we will not recommend this hotel
Review 36:Poor breakfast no choices, poor quality sausages and bacon and beans. No parking facilities, had to pay in public car park £14, room fee of £90 per night is diabolical for a basic room with out dated furniture.
Review 37:location not bad.
Review 38:The bed was ok but the pillows weren't great. I personally like soft fluffy pillows, the pillows in this hotel are flat. My partner didn't mind them though.
Review 39:The location is great although noisy at night because it's in town and The Normandie is a bar/Pub and open until 1. Expect some street noise, but it doesn't go on all night.
Review 40:There's nothing to not liks
Review 41:We loved how friendly the staff were we arrived on Tuesday and left Thursday we were amazed by how nice everyone were we will Deffo be going again
Review 42:Carpet on the lower staircase.
Review 43:The staff were fantastic. They even practised making special American style pancakes one evening for our breakfast the next day. Cheerful and friendly. Thanks Danny and team!
Review 44:A little noisey at night and floorboards very creaky and could hear people walking about late at night.
Review 45:Very friendly staff. Good full breakfast, nice airy rooms.
Review 46:Carpets a little dirty...Glasses in the bar were dirty.......windows would not open it got very warm....kettle had to be cleaned before use.......
Review 47:Location was great, food was large portions. Breakfast excellent. Large Room.
Review 48:The cleanliness of glasses and cutlery was disgusting and when we complained we received other glasses with lipstick marks around them also the beans were frozen there was one nice man who was very helpful the rest of the staff were very rude
Review 49:The location was very ideal just minutes away from centre we like music and drinking and dining not for the fainthearted or looking for a peaceful location
Review 50:Location not for people who like their sleep. Very noisy until 3 in the morning. Toilet seat broken did report it. Nothing done about it.
Review 51:Foodr was good. Bedroom was very big and comfortable. Except for the window didn't close properly.
Review 52:Was a bit noisy on the saturday evening as the room overlooked the beer garden. This is the only potenital downside as it is a busy lounge, bar, restaurant and open quite late.
Review 53:Great breakfast. large double room with comfy bed and great TV. Big leather settee in the room (room 5) which could double as a sofa bed. Nice place to have a meal in the evening!
Review 54:None
Review 55:The location is excellent, the room was bright airy, warm, cosy and plenty of hot water for the shower and a really good breakfast, the staff were helpful polite and friendly, so thumbs up all round.
Review 56:U get either hot or scalding hot water in the shower and wifi was totally non existent despite the staff insistence. Next morning the gal on duty was the honest one who said the wifi is actually down.
Review 57:Location
Review 58:Might have said the weather , but that was good as well .
Review 59:Our stay was fab , loved the Hotel and was right in the heart of Tenby town , so close to everything .
Review 60:Amazing staff amazing room and felt very welcome only thing if your a light sleeper wouldn't recommend because it's in the middle of town but slept fine and enjoyed my stay :)
Review 61:Quite noisy at night but just what we expected with it being in the middle of town. Not a problem though.
Review 62:The room was huge. The food fabulous. The staff very friendly. All in all a wonderful weekend!
Review 63:Room requested was not available, booked 4 months in advance and only one other room occupied when we arrived.
Review 64:Location is great, perfect for visiting shops, bars and restaurants.
Review 65:The shower was rusted up, the bath plug was broken and the bath covered in soap scum and tiles loose on wall. The floor was mucky, the curtains hanging from the poles, the bathroom blind, stool and kettle broken. No one cleaned the room over the 3 days so we washed out our own cups made the bed. etc. Not good value for £90 per night.
Review 66:Breakfast was good.
Review 67:Shower was a little difficult to use however not a huge issue.
Review 68:Lovely place to stay clean & comfortable would stay here again. Lively bar which stayed open fairly late but this didn't bother us.
Review 69:The room was stinking, the toilet was dirty. The pillows on the bed were dirty. This was the 2nd room we were given as the first room wasn't clean. Also bathroom tile fell off and dressing table stool top was loose and I nearly fell off whilst doing my makeup..I left my number for the manager to call me when we left and im still awaiting a call from him.
Review 70:Breakfast was lovely
Review 71:I was booked in online :but when I arrived the room was double booked.. After travelling all the way from oxford.i wasn't happy to say the least !!!
Review 72:It really was so basic, the bed sheets were clean but the towels were never replaced the whole week, our room was never dusted or vacuumed and just felt 'scruffy'. The standard was of of an old, tired B & B place. Overpriced compared to other much better places in Tenby.
Review 73:Most of the staff were good and friendly.
Review 74:The only small glitch was on the Wednesday night but was beyond the hoteliers control. The hotel is a few doors from a nightclub and on the Wednesday it had a visit from group of squaddies who decided to congregate outside our window until the early hours.
Review 75:Really friendly hotel, both staff and locals alike. We were made to feel welcome from the moment we walked through the door. The two main staff we dealt with (Jack and Lauren )are a credit to their employers, nothing was too much trouble. The location was ideal for both the town centre and the beaches, great for my limited mobility.
Review 76:Hard to get a good night's sleep, local "big ben" clock chimes all night, sea gulls wake up early and multiple refuse collections and street cleaning also very early. Maybe rooms not facing street would be better.
Review 77:Clean functional room centrally located inside Tenby town wall with good wifi and tv reception in room. Good varied and well priced pub type menu, in pub / bar type setting but better than most pubs, we both had good meals. Good atmosphere as used by locals of all ages. Breakfast cooked fresh to order.
Review 78:Pull out bed mattress, not a pretty sight neither was the additional quilt requested, thankfully very clean standard of bedding was provided.
Review 79:Location in the heart of Tenby, excellent in-house menu with friendly helpful staff,
Review 80:Dated, carpets could do with a clean, loose tiles on bathroom floor, no anti slip mat for bath, no mat coming out of bath, with slippery floor. Cleaner had tv on in the bar at 5 am which easily transmitted to our room above.
Review 81:Location, spacious room, comfy bed and sky tv in room,
Review 82:Pretty much all of it. 1. A general lack of cleanliness throughout. 2. Room was too hot. We could not open or close the window as it had been painted shut, when we mentioned this we were told it would be sorted. It wasnt, after asking to speak to the manager, I was told he would get in contact later that day. He never. We found another hotel to stay at and left 3 day's earlier, we could not have spent another night in there, it completely ruined our time in Tenby.
Review 83:Nice beer garden.
Review 84:The staff just didn't seem to know what they were doing I couldn't even get a receipt for my room and as I was on business this is something I needed
Review 85:The location was great the room was clean and a good size. The food looked great but I didn't eat there as I had plans.
Review 86:would be noisy at weekends with a night club 2 doors away. wifi very poor.
Review 87:bar and food excellent lovely friendly staff central location nice beer garden
Review 88:So disgusted that I sent an email of complaint with photos and had NO response!!! Filthy and not vacuumed carpets, disgusting broken kettle, dusty and dirty around the towel rail. Didn't even bother stay for breakfast! Never to return again!!!
Review 89:Situated in a good central location.
Review 90:Wifi only available in certain areas of the bar when advertised available throughout. Roof leeks on the landing. No biscuits available in room. Bed only made 1 day in 4 night stay. A bit grubby throughout. Expensive.
Review 91:Food was very nice. Staff were nice. Position of the hotel is very good.
Review 92:Walking up to our room the stairs and landing were filthy and needed a good Hoover and clean and this unfortunately was the same with our room. The room had not been hoovered for weeks and the shower had black stains around the base and tiles. The bed however had clean sheets and was very comfortable. We were at the top of the guest house and our room lead onto the roof with patio doors opening onto it but this was unuseable as there was debris everywhere and half drunk beer bottles.
Review 93:We only dealt with one member of staff who booked us in and served breakfast and he was chatty, friendly and accommodating. The full English breakfast we can highly recommend. The bar was good and also the beer garden very inviting.
Review 94:Shabby bathrooms. Dirty cutlery, glasses and crockery at breakfast. No staff available to serve breakfast until 9.25am No breakfast menu. Dirty unhygienic communal jars of marmalade. Generally unwelcoming staff who had a 'couldn't care less attitude'.
Review 95:Central location
Review 96:Lack of good housekeeping.Room in need of a good clean. Dust (long term) on lamp shades and bed frame. Bathroom shower screen and bath not clean.Bedding looked used with some hairs on the sheets.Did report all this to barman who assured me it would be sorted by him personally. Duvet cover was definitely not changed when we returned cleanliness of the shower screen and bath were just the same.So couldn't say what was personally done by him, The curtains were lacking curtains hooks in places and hanging from the rail. Shame because its a nice size of room ,I do hope management take note because this would stop me from returning.
Review 97:location central within walking distance of beach and shops. Staff friendly.Room a good size.
Review 98:Room was above main entrance with bar below open until 1am. Had to have windows open as so hot with no fan. Nightclub next door with lots of noise as well as noise from the bar, fights outside first night. Not much sleep had over two nights and happy to leave for much quieter accomodation for next two nights. Wasn't made aware of club next door.
Review 99:Lack of interest from staff. Noise until 3 in the morning from people stood outside a night club three doors up. Window didn't open any more than the three inch gap at the bottom. It didn't close either so we couldn't shut the noise out. No chair for the dressing table. No light above the bathroom mirror so couldn't see to shave. Extraction fan wasn't working. Wi Fi was non existent. Even downstairs in the bar. We had to ask for plates at breakfast. The one set of cutlery was used for everything. No sugar, no milk. No hot water and on the second morning another guest had to go to her room for a kettle to boil some water in!!! Basically if you didn't get to the breakfast room early you didn't get anything. Shame because the actual full English breakfast was excellent. Well cooked, plenty of it and tasty. When we left we didn't even get asked if we had enjoyed our stay and please come again. Not a place to recommend. The second worst hotel I have ever stayed in.
Review 100:Breakfast
