Reviews for The Windmills Hotel

Review 1:The hotel has a fantastic view down to the beach and our balcony also overlooked the lovely grounds & swimming pool which we did use during our stay. The staff, the breakfast, the facilities - all brilliant.

Review 2:i am really being picky now- the sofa in the bedroom was not the most comfy

Review 3:our room was superb, the view across the garden to the sea was breathtaking. restaurant very good catered well with my wife's diet. hard to find fault

Review 4:One member of staff was a bit abrupt at times. Not necessary! Everything else was perfect. Shower area would benefit from extractor fan being fitted as it didn't have a window.

Review 5:Area was excellent for touring the island. Beautiful view from the hotel. Excellent food.

Review 6:The bedroom and particularly the bath room were a bit on the tired side, but still very clean.

Review 7:The food was excellent, but on the last but o0ne day our main breakfast meal was served before we had finished our cereal.

Review 8:having to go home!

Review 9:Room with beautiful view and balcony, very good choice and standard of food, and friendly and helpful staff.Lovely gardens and swimming pool.

Review 10:Everything all so perfect can't wait to return next year ....should most definitely be a 4 star not a three star thank you so much for a wonderful break xxxx

Review 11:All of the staff we encountered were helpful, courteous, friendly and very efficient. The owners were available everyday for enquiries or just a general chat, even waiting on dinning tables. The half board evening menu was excellent, repeated after a week's stay which gave us the opportunity to sample that which we liked again. A specials board was also available. The breakfast menu was varied and plentiful. We had booked a 'Sea view' room but wasn't prepared for the panoramic view of St Brelades Bay that we had. It was extraordinary.

Review 12:The Staff were very helpful, very positive and cheerful. Lovely staff in the resterant for breakfast Food very high standard. Now the very very best thing about our room is that it had such an amazing view of the beach. Amazing....xxxxxx

Review 13:Nothing.

Review 14:Beautiful location with superb views of St Brelade's Bay. Would recomend seaview room. Very clean comfortable hotel with beautiful lounge, garden and terraces. Excellent food and service. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Would recomend this hotel.

Review 15:Nothing!

Review 16:An excellent location with super service. Brilliant not having to do anything. A nice swimming pool.Conveniently located for buses and lovely walks. overlooking a fantastic beach.

Review 17:Would have been better to allocate our family 2 rooms near to each other rather than with a floor between us. I appreciate it is not always possible, but we did book 2 months in advance and no-one warned us we would be so far apart.

Review 18:Lovely view. decent-sized pool. The evening meals really excellent, with good variety.

Review 19:Room 33 was directly above the Kitchen, so was very noisy from 7AM preparing breakfast and in the evening after dinner, whilst washing up and clearing away.

Review 20:Friendly, comfortable hotel with a great view of the bay from the grounds and restaurant.

Review 21:Team of Polish breakfast staff were very efficient and friendly, and there was a good choice of food. Complimentary bottle of champagne to celebrate our 25th was a lovely surprise!

Review 22:No bad experiences, however the path is sloping to the hotel reception and difficult to use if you are wheel chair bound. A couple of reserved parking bays for disabled would improve this at the bottom of the slope.

Review 23:View from our room was fantastic

Review 24:Everything was superb, hotel staff worked hard to make the stay as pleasant as possible. Breakfast was outstanding. Rooms were comfortable with everything you need. Grounds, terrace and pool were delightful.

Review 25:The only thing I didn't like was leaving to come home !

Review 26:This is without doubt the best Hotel we have stayed in. We stayed there last year and we were reluctant to book the same hotel again. But this year it was even better. The owners Steve and Jane are very welcoming and the staff are extremely helpful and nothing seems to be to much trouble.

Review 27:Female waiting staff rather snappy. Nice stay but certainly parts of the building such as balcony railings could do with a total refurbishment and one lot of steps down to pool area seem to be crumbling away making it potentially very dangerous and not having sufficient handrails.

Review 28:Lovely Views, beautiful beach and some lovely local walks.

Review 29:We had an issue with a fire door banging early on the first morning. We mentioned this at reception and by that evening had been moved to a room with sea view and balcony - excellent customer service!!

Review 30:Hotel food was fresh and well prepared, stunning views, nice warm pool, friendly and efficient service at all times.

Review 31:The breakfast; it needs improvement. Why not more Jersey typical food: scones, cakes, sea fruits . The room much too small for 3 persons. No balcony, no view. The weather was bad, but not the hotel fault.

Review 32:The view, the beds; an efficient team of Romanian guys: special appreciation to Marius, the bartender for his kindness and availability. A must see on the island: Plemont Bay. A jewel of beauty. Very good eating on the whole island.

Review 33:The owner was quite offhand and walked away rather than engage in conversation. The paintings on the walls were gross!

Review 34:great view and terrace, sizeable rooms

Review 35:Phlegm in sink plughole 3' square shower - too small and dated Saggy bed, poor quality mattress Worn polycotton bedsheets Stained pillows with single polycotton case 4'6" bed (would prefer 5') Tired dated furnishings Soggy cooked breakfast - tinned mushrooms & cheap ingredients Noise from morning deliveries and early staff

Review 36:Very friendly staff Great location Fabulous view over bay On bus route Well kept gardens

Review 37:I would recommend the hotel owners look into improving the signage from the main road, it's not clear where you need to go.

Review 38:This is a great hotel, I can't recommend it highly enough. The staff are very efficient and friendly, they really can not do enough to help. the Chef is excellent, I ate from the bar menu and in the main restaurant for dinner and both were superb. The location if the hotel is perfect and the view of St Brelades Bat and Ouaisne bay really is to die for. I recommend this hotel for anyone wanting a relaxing break in a beautiful hotel.

Review 39:The room I had (room 1) was nowhere near as good as the room I had last year, even though I was assured before the holiday that all rooms were of a similar standard. The room itself was fairly average with a single bed (double last year), foam pillows (a pet hate), but worst of all, very noisy. The noises included water pipes and people in the adjacent rooms, one of whom seemed to spend a considerable amount of time opening and closing drawers, not in a particularly noisy way, but you could always hear these things. Also, you had to run off an awful lot of water before it got hot, surely not a good thing to have to do on a smallish island.

Review 40:The view from the breakfast room always made a good start to the day, with panoramic views over the hotel pool and St Brelades Bay. Also, the two nights that we ate at the hotel were very good.

Review 41:I only had a single bed - and was told I would have a double bed. I have not slept in a single bed since I was a child and found it too small.

Review 42:The view was outstanding.

Review 43:The staff here are wonderful, and the food very good. It's only a short walk down the hill to the bay (the walk back up is a bit taxing though!). We loved it.

Review 44:lovely view - couldn't take my eyes off it. room was a good size and comfortable. all staff were very helpful and friendly. very good breakfast - we didn't have dinner in the hotel but it looked good. handy to have the internet room to print out boarding passes for our return flight. Good wifi strength too

Review 45:My only issue was that the walls and space between floors was very thin. We were woken each morning at 6am by the baby elephants above us moving around their room and heard all of the chat that went on in the corridor outside our room.

Review 46:We enjoyed our stay here. It's situated in a stunning location. The hotel is spotlessly clean and breakfast was great quality and very generous portions.

Review 47:The signs to the hotel do not catch the eye enough, which caused us problems on arrival.

Review 48:The cleanliness of the hotel and the beautiful, relaxing garden and pool.

Review 49:We didn't like the staff in the dining room. They were very familiar with returning residents. They were polite but not warm with us. The breakfast was only adequate. Bacon was prepared earlier and then reheated ,not pleasant.

Review 50:The owners were great. Room was fine but shower very small. Hotel clean. Public rooms and outside space perfect. Swimming pool was too small for me.

Review 51:Only minor dislike is no evening entertainment

Review 52:Loved the stunning views and location. The management and staff are so helpful and friendly providing a brilliant service. Food was excellent.

Review 53:A very clean, comfortable & friendly hotel. the food was very good and the scenery amazing. I would happily recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a quite, relaxing break.

Review 54:The quite large bathroom featured an incongruously small sink with no shelves nearby where toiletries could be arrayed.

Review 55:The terraces, pool and view are magnificent and being a short walk from both the beach and the bus stops to the airport and St. Helier makes this a great location.

Review 56:Nothing to dislike ! Like everything.

Review 57:The friendlyness of all Staff and the fantastic service and food. A really well managed Hotel offering excellent comfort. Would highly recommend.

Review 58:Our room was right opposite the maids' cupboard and they started work early in the morning, which was a bit noisy.

Review 59:Amazing views. On main bus route to St Helier (every 15 minutes).

Review 60:A detailed map of how to find the hotel accessible from the website would have been nice.

Review 61:The Windmills was an excellent find and the owners and staff were outstanding. Helpful, easy to deal with and very polite. The views out to sea from both the room and dining/public rooms was wonderful. Everything was clean and tidy and the food was very good indeed. Easy access to public transport was another very useful amenity.

Review 62:No staff were available at all during the earlier hours staff do not arrive until 7am so from a safety aspect I found this unsettling and being awake from 5am with no acess to tea and coffee etc was frustrating - from a proffessional aspect I would have liked to have seen all staff dressed appropriately as they were in the hotel club & spa !!!

Review 63:This hotel is impeccably clean we stayed in a room with a sea view and the view was simply sensational - well decorated throughout

Review 64:Not much really, shower units could do with updating to power showers

Review 65:Great Hotel, staff always happy and very willing to help. Views are fantastic, close to the beach and resturants. Looking at going back next year.

Review 66:The only snag was the walk at night down into St Brelade to restaurants and bars. Take a torch!

Review 67:We liked just about everything. The staff could not have been more helpful and obliging. The restaurant was a fabulous place to eat with views every bit as beautiful as on the web site. The beach was lovely and you could walk over the bay and the adjoining bay to a lovely cafe and pub. If we went again, we would definitely pay a bit more for a room with balcony and sea view.

Review 68:Bathroom was tired, cabinet light was all broken and sellotaped back together. Paint peeling off the ceiling above shower.

Review 69:The view was fabulous. The outdoor space was excellent. The staff were friendly.

Review 70:Parking was difficult at times. The duvet was too heavy for early September. Rather quite around the bar area later on in the evening.

Review 71:Staff were very friendly. Very good varied breakfast menu.

Review 72:We stayed at the Windmill for the first time while in Jersey for a friend's wedding. We stayed for 4 nights. The view over St.Brelade's Bay, as you walk in to the hotel, is just stunning. The hotel is not just clean, everywhere looks like it has just been refurbished; our room overlooked the bay, the bed was as good as at home and we slept like logs every night. Every single one of the staff are friendly, courteous and helpful and, for us this stems from the fact that the owners, Steve & Jane Law, work in the hotel every day and have instilled a culture of good hospitality. Breakfast was a delight because it is fresh-cooked, not a buffet. We have stayed in some of the best hotels in Europe, America and the Middle East - try the Windmill - you won't be disappointed.

Review 73:Sounds from next room(s) children from one side, ventillation from the other at times Seating in bar / lounge not suited to 'bad backs' Staff would have got an excellent rating, but for the discovery that my new tablet (not at that time pass-protected) has evidence of having been connected to a 'hotelSTAFF' WiFi and I haven't stayed at any other hotels ! now there may be some innocent explanation, but I am worried

Review 74:Staff were very friendly and helpful Atmosphere relaxed, comfortable Room well cleaned, if a little dated

Review 75:All staff were friendly and made you feel welcome. Rooms a good size and worth paying extra for a sea view. Great breakfast with lots of choice. Lovely pool area. Good location and a nice walk to the beach. Please note the walk back is up hill so not for anyone with mobility issues unless you have a car.

Review 76:some noise at night - people talking in loud voices outside the room. some tables in the restaurant very close together.

Review 77:very friendly, helpful staff and a beautiful terrace overlooking the sea. very good breakfast and the evening meal mostly delicious.

Review 78:That we couldn't stay longer!

Review 79:The views are just stunning from the terrace. The breakfast was delicious with a great variety. All the staff were helpful and very pleasant. The rooms were spacious, tasteful and very clean.

Review 80:The hotel staff were great. The breakfast was great. The room had everything you need and as more like a 4* hotel. The pool was great. THE VIEWS!!! Absolutely stunning...

Review 81:First of all this was one of the highlights of the trip. I could walk outside on our terrace and have the most beautiful view one can imagine. Additionally, there was a pool and walking distance to the beach. We wound up delaying our ferry half a day because the policy of the hotel is you must be out of your room by 10:30 but you can stay all day and use their facilities. It becomes quite obvious the minute you arrive that this is an owner runner property. The care to helpfulness and detail and the warmth they show certainly would bring back others. The room was a bit small and the twin beds turned out to be a double, but that is so minor. You do have to pay for a bus to get there and drag luggage a bit up a hill but those are minor details. This is a place for honeymooners for older couples, for friends traveling together-- for anyone. The food is generous and lovely, the wait staff is quick and helpful. This is a great example of a family run business that really knows how to please travelers. I highly recommend it. And thanks for the help with the ferry change.

Review 82:The hotel was a long way up from the beach and walking back up the very steep hill was gruelling especially on a hot day! The dining room was tired and the carpet in there needs replacing as it was sticky in places.

Review 83:The outside terrace was lovely. The views from there were spectacular!

Review 84:It's a long walk downhill - and up again- to get to the seafront! But the compensation for being on a hillside is the view!

Review 85:Comfortable, sea-view room looking out over the bay; Wide choice for breakfast and a good selection of food in the restaurant for dinner. Compared to local eateries very good value for money too. Pleasant terrace and pool area.

Review 86:Everything!!!!! No need for more it is perfect for us.

Review 87:Great location , great staff , great food!

Review 88:The view from the hotel is spectacular

Review 89:Food excellent and staff pleasant and helpful. Surroundings, dining room ,lounge etc all with pleasant outlook.

Review 115:The hotel, the staff and the view

Review 117:Great staff, location and grounds

Review 118:We loved the view, the breakfast & closeness to beachfront restaurants.
