Reviews for Edenhall Country Hotel

Review 1:Situated just iff the M6 and A66 this hotel is a great find. Peaceful country location at excellent rates. The room had recently been refurbished and everything you'd want for a comfortable stay. Free Wifi and a bar with a good selection of beers. Great food , good value and plentiful. Overall a great place and I stay again.

Review 2:The warm welcome. Friendly atmosphere. Refurbished room.Evening meal and breakfast excellent. Only 4 miles from Penrith and the motorway in lovely village. Would recommend to our friends

Review 3:Noise at night from the unfinished rooms - but this was sorted the following day with no issues.

Review 4:Pretty much everything, we had one problem that the staff sorted out really quickly.

Review 5:The pigeons making noises outside the window. Didn't see any red squirrels.

Review 6:Great owners and staff. Cook was excellent. Good range of beers. Great gardens.

Review 7:The hotel is on several levels and there is no lift the breakfast is waitress service we prefer Buffett the sausage served at breakfast was in fact a chipolata and the portion of fried bread was tiny

Review 8:Pleasant staff good wi fi dinner menu varied and portions wholesome rooms well prepared

Review 9:Love the area, very picturesque with lovely walks. Arrived on 'Fish and Chip Friday' - very tasty. Plenty of tea and coffee in room. Was made to feel very welcome. Would go again.

Review 10:The staff were very welcoming on arrival and throughout our stay. Accommodation was clean and comfortable and much needed food and drink was readily available.

Review 11:Unfortunately on the night I stayed there was a big family party - very noisy children in garden outside my window followed by short display of extremely loud fireworks. My plan for an early night was totally thwarted although the noise did cease around 11 pm. In addition, TV was not working properly on a number of channels (I gather they've had some problems recently) so I had no distraction from the din outside. A shame.

Review 12:Convenient for stay en route from the North to London and in a pretty rural environment. I took a pleasant walk along the river as recommended by the hotel. Reasonable price and room fine. Friendly staff.

Review 13:Nothing

Review 14:Good sized, recently refurbished bedrooms. Clean, comfortable, quiet. Good food with friendly staff. 10 mins. from M5 and handy for Lake District and Penines.

Review 15:Bed and pillows - hard, need replacing. Taps in bathroom needed to be wrenched to stop dripping, soil pipe to toilet leaking - wrapped in a cloth and looked unpleasant. Food in the evening tasteless, and breakfast not the best either.

Review 16:Situation and room well equipped, staff especially reception very good.

Review 17:Would have liked soap rather than shower gel dispensers.

Review 18:Warm, friendly staff. Receptionist particularly friendly. Good food, comfortable beds nice bathroom.

Review 19:Sound carries and I could hear quite clearly the guest in another room making a late night phone call.

Review 20:Made to feel very welcome, lovely looking building and grounds. Plus a great shower and the evening meal was very nice.

Review 21:Lovely quiet and fairly quaint hotel set in small village but close to Penrith. Staff were friendly but not intrusive and the food quality was better than the norm, especially Breakfast. 20 miles from the lakes without being touristy/ expensive. I would stay again.

Review 22:Friendly down to earth staff created a lovely atmosphere, just felt comfortable there. A highlight was watching the hens in the trees over breakfast. Good breakfast.

Review 23:Nothing comes to mind

Review 24:The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The hotel was comfortable and homely : not forgetting the beautiful countryside peaceful and quaint

Review 25:The bar/restaurant staff were a little shabby and lacked enthusiasm, I asked for a quiet room but wasgiven a room right next to the entrance door to my floor and was plagued by children running up and down the stairs and hallway outside my room for hours. I feel for the decor and staff the price for this hotel is way too high.

Review 26:The room which was a little small but was very clean and modern. The meals were large and very tasty.

Review 27:The hotel, is perfect, if you want city centre spec stay where you are if you want country life with chickens having a roam and good food with a decent beer and good old natter then book this one you won't be disappointed

Review 28:There were dogs barking well into the early hours of the morning, The food I felt was over priced for what you get.

Review 29:The hotel is in a quiet location with lovely scenery all around, With a large car park. The restaurant was clean with good views out of the windows over the fields and gardens.

Review 30:The restaurant described itself as "Fine Dining", but the menu was simply pub food, and single-ply paper napkins and poor service were not what we expected. We entered the bar to find staff to take us to our table and both Ladies on duty simply walked straight passed us without acknowledging us at all. Service in the dining room was also very casual with no effort made to ensure we had everything we needed to enjoy our meal.

Review 31:The hotel is in a quiet situation but not too far from the main road. The quantity and quality of the food for the evening meal and breakfast were very good.

Review 32:Very friendly and welcoming. Good size bedroom and en-suite, both of which we're clean and attractive. Full English breakfast was particularly lovely.

Review 33:We arrived late to find that the kitchen had closed and the chef had gone home. The lady who checked us in said we could have a sandwich. That would have been fine but we were then offered a hot meal. The food was excellent and we were impressed that they were prepared to make a meal so late.

Review 34:The hotel was run down and tired,I could have overlooked that but the breakfast was barely edible, the sausage and bacon was obviously cooked the day before and there was a triangle that was supposed to be fried bread and I was also woken at 5am by the resident cockerel

Review 35:Not a lot, staff were friendly and the gardens were nice

Review 101:Stayed for one night and everything was excellent, the owners were really friendly and helpful. The room was lovely and comfortable and spotlessly clean. We sat in the beautiful gardens and had a couple of drinks before we had a lovely meal in the dining room, everything was well priced and very tasty and ample portions. The breakfast was really delicious with a range of cereals and fruits/ yogurts as well as the usual full English. We are booking here again for next year and staying longer as it is such a lovely hotel. After using other hotels around Penrith which we were never overly happy with this is a little gem.

Review 102:Excellent location with very welcoming owners. The superior room was large, clean and very well furnished with a lovely bathroom. The dining room had very nice views of the garden and the breakfast was of a high standard.

Review 103:Very hot in restaurant - quite hot in rooms, but no fans - and that was before the present heatwave! Really need fans in the bedrooms, even if not needed very often

Review 104:Really peaceful location, but not far from main Lake District roads and attractions. Wonderful quiet and pretty garden with lots of seats. Staff helpful and friendly. Excellent food.

Review 105:Large step in and out of shower. Husband is disabled. We were given a smaller room than booked to have fewer stairs to negotiate and this was helpful.

Review 106:Excellent food and very helpful staff. Ensuite was a bit limited for space and facilities.
