Reviews for Giltar Hotel

Review 1:Nothing at all.

Review 2:When my husband and I arrived, we went to our room as we have been there before,so we knew where to go, but found it cold, and quite small, so we went to the receptionist and she changed our room straight away, no problem at all

Review 3:we realise that the hotel is undergoing refurbishment, however our room was poor, even though it had a sea view and was clean, the room was tiny and had almost no soundproofing to next door, if it wasn,t for the fact that we were next to our friends and were only there for 1 night we would have accepted the room ! room no.312.

Review 4:the staff, food , comunal areas were all very good.

Review 5:Bed to small and mattress not of the quality you would expect for the money u pay , couldn't spend more than one night on it

Review 6:Hotel in great location

Review 7:Parking very limited

Review 8:The staff are excellent at this hotel very friendly and helpful the breakfast was great the rooms very clean and tidy there was no noise late at night

Review 9:Thought I booked a sea view room but when I got there we had a room facing the car park which wasn't very nice. Me and my partner were looking to play pool on the table downstairs but we're told by staff we couldn't go down there with no real reason.

Review 10:Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was amazing and had so many hot/cold options which was great.

Review 11:I can't vouch for the refurbished rooms, but, although it was made clear that our room was un-refurbished, I wasn't prepared for how poor it would be with the bathroom, in particular, very sub-standard: tiny, chipped bath; toothbrush holder hanging off wall; soap holder had clearly been well-used as an ashtray; ill-fitting vinyl floor dirty, especially around and behind toilet; ancient, torn, large, manufacturer's label still sticking to pedestal on wash hand basin from the previous time the room had been updated. The management are obviously aware of the state of the older rooms and should either bring the price down or at least try and compensate guests in some other way - there were no biscuits with the tea and coffee and there were only mean little sachets of shampoo and conditioner. Disappointing.

Review 12:Excellent location, good breakfast, friendly restaurant staff.

Review 13:The hotel is undergoing refurbishment and there was no interruption during our stay. Friendly staff willing to help; lovely location.

Review 14:Location; friendly staff. Breakfast was good; evening meal choices limited to 3 courses but good overall. I travelled with my disabled elderly father who was lucky enough to have a refurbished room; which was very comfortable. My room wasn't refurbished; but was very clean and suitable for my needs.. Clean bedding and towels.

Review 15:Unable to provide an evening meal as there was a wedding reception there. Receptionist very helpful with other places to eat

Review 16:Lovely hotel. Excellent location. Walking distance to town.

Review 17:Breakfast. Quality of food not good. Definitely need better chef.

Review 18:We were moved to a refurbished room which was good after first room shower was very poor.

Review 19:The weather.

Review 20:Position (beautiful views), cleanliness and breakfast. We got the last room in the house as there was an Iron Man Competition finishing just in front of the hotel but it was still very comfortable.

Review 21:The room we had was like returning to the 70s. A sloping floor, Tiny shower cubicle. very dated furniture and fittings. I was charged £90 pounds but the booking was confirmed at £87. Not much I know but the price agreed should be the price paid.

Review 22:Location excellent, Staff Friendly.

Review 23:Room was basic and dull with old decor and tiny bathroom. Matress was horrific me and my partner didnt get any sleep all night. Bathroom was smelling of damp. Bath was so small i shud have sat in sink. My boyfriend had to bend down to have shower because the shower was too low. For £90 i expected a lot more from a hotel room. Very poor

Review 24:Travel Cot for our child

Review 25:Very courteous and friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble. Helen even remembered how I liked my tea, I was very impressed. I also had a packed lunch for my journey home which was superb. I would not hesitate to go back again.

Review 26:This hotel is in a great location on the front we had a lovely sea view room very modern and lovely and clean. Breakfast was good nice selection and the staff are very friendly. Would definitely go back again .

Review 27:The plumbing is a bit 1950s: balancing the hot and the cold to get the water right for a shower.

Review 28:Very friendly staff. Hotel well run and very organised: fixed small things in rom without needing to be asked. Breakfast: try the laver bread with kippers.

Review 29:Breakfast was lovely but we could have done with a little more - 2 slices of bacon instead of just the 1 maybe!!!

Review 30:We really enjoyed our stay and are sure to be back!! Friendly staff.

Review 31:Having realised my car parking was going to run out while away from Tenby i rang the hotel who very kindly went and paid the car parking fees for me, saving myself a large fine.

Review 32:size of room which was extremely small. Very disappointing as sold as premium room which we do not think it was. Did not even have decent coat hangers, we had to ask for more as 5 hangers in a wardrobe is not enough for 2 people.

Review 33:position of hotel. Outside of hotel was really beautiful with planting of hanging baskets and tubs.

Review 34:The Parking is a big problem, hotel car park very small when arrived parked in public car park for 3hrs then luckily a space was available on the front if not you would have to pay in public car park for the time your there.

Review 35:The area very nice.

Review 36:the grooves of the tiles in the shower were full of filthy mold

Review 37:the sea view, the room was very good for what we paid, the location fabulous and car park

Review 38:I wasn't in a refurbished room so it was a little outdated but all very clean and comfortable and look forward to coming back and staying in a refurbished room soon!

Review 39:Lovely comfortable bed, good size single room and a sea view for a very reasonable price.

Review 40:The electric sockets went off I informed reception and it took over a hour to sort out even though they said it was a case of flicking the trip switch. Also our room 315 seemed to have ever other drainage running directly outside our window, so there was a constant noise of running water. Also the free wi-fi did not extend to room 315!!!

Review 41:The breakfast staff were very friendly and helpful :)

Review 42:There was nothing to dislike, even though the hotel had two weddings during our stay and I envisaged the noise levels from the disco disturbing the children. However because the private function bar is on the lower ground we had no problems.

Review 43:The Hotel was well situated on the promenade. The Giltar staff were friendly and extremely courteous. Bedrooms and en-suites clean and very pleasant. I travelled with my family for my 65th birthday and because we were a group with younger and teenage children I wasn't sure if the accommodation would be suitable. However the overall experience was delightful.

Review 44:If there was one it would be the small and high seaview window in the room.

Review 45:The staff were very accommodating and very helpful, The free wi-fi helps when you are looking up places, and catching up on mail..

Review 46:There was a wedding the day we arrived and we were not told prior to arriving. The music was so loud I couldn't hear the TV in my room and went on until 12:40am, the wedding guests returning to their rooms were quite loud too. Got very little sleep.

Review 47:The hotel was very nice, good sea views, clean and tidy. The breakfast was very nice, a good variety to choose from. The staff were friendly and helpful. The updated rooms are much nicer.

Review 48:A lot of stairs and small corridors, although there is a lift. Took a few trips to get all our child's things to the room on the 2nd floor.

Review 49:Staff were excellent, very helpful and friendly.

Review 50:The room was run down, long and very narrow. cut foot on carpet gripper, carpet joined in 3 places only one foot at bottom of bed to walk around, sealant in shower was black, grouting around sink was grey, very old and run down, disgusting for the money, will not return or recommend.

Review 51:The bed

Review 52:The only down side was on the night we stayed they had a wedding party and we could hear the music very clear in our room until around 1-1:30am.

Review 53:We stayed at the guiltar hotel in July for 1 night with a 5 month old! The hotel is gorgeous, the staff were really friendly and helpful, we had free wifi but could only use it in the bar not in our rooms.. The breakfast was lovely and they had a large variety of items ranging from a full cooked breakfast to fruit, youghurts and pastrys.

Review 54:Check out is at 10:30am, however the rooms either side of me must have checked out very early. Resulting in a lot of cleaning, moving furniture noise etc, when I should have enjoyed the peace and quiet of sleeping in.

Review 55:The sea view and looking out on Caldey Island from the bedroom was spectacular. The service was great and staff very polite and friendly.

Review 56:As the hotel is going through a refurb would have been nice to be told when booking that mine had not been done yet, as the photos in website look so amazing expectations we're high.

Review 57:Location and staff we're really nice. Breakfast was lovely nice to have kippers and eggs benedict on the menu.

Review 58:had to move rooms as bath overflow flooded downstairs.didnt have a bath in new room which was very small. felt cramped. not offered any compensation for inconvenience.

Review 59:The only downside was the wifi but with it being such a big hotel it probably meant many people were using it which made it so slow although we did connect we could not use it

Review 60:Very clean rooms and staff seemed to enjoy their job

Review 61:Wi-fi connection was very temperamental but free

Review 62:The hotel is being beautifully renovated with many period features. Our room was a deluxe sea view & was stunning. Breakfast menu was excellent with buffet table along with cooked choices, all beautifully presented, hot & delicious. The staff were all professional & friendly - nothing was too much trouble! We stayed Monday- Friday & I could have stayed a month at least! Excellent value for money & we can't wait to return.

Review 63:Our room was a little small, next time we will go for a bigger room as long bas it has a sea view.

Review 64:Hotel position.. Friendliness of staff and management. Breakfast superb

Review 65:Arrived at hotel, checked in. Met group of friend down in the bar for a few drinks. Asked to leave by the manager, because we were being to loud! Even though we were just a group of girls having a chit chat, we were taking about a upcoming wedding. Not as if we were singing out loud to the background music.

Review 66:The lady working behind the bar, and the ladies on the reception desk were fab.

Review 67:My only complaint is that the room was a little snug. Would stay again but book a bigger room.

Review 68:The hotel is in a fantastic location, the views are to die for.

Review 69:None. Lovely Hotel.

Review 70:Most helpful and friendly staff allowed me to leave my luggage at reception for a few hours after checking out to go to a meeting. I was able to prepare for the meeting in the lounge using the hotel wi-fi. TY.

Review 71:Stunning sea views and just a few minutes walk to the town centre. Staff were friendly and very helpful. We were upgraded on arrival to one of the newly refurbished premier sea view rooms. The room was beautifully furnished and very clean. We hope to return in the summer.

Review 72:Didn't like our bedroom. A previously large bedroom with big bay window had been split into two doubles! Could hear TV next door as they had difficulty turning down the sound. ( our friends had this room).

Review 73:Nice lounge with bar.

Review 74:The car parking facilities could have been bigger.

Review 75:Fabulous hotel would definitely stay there again. Amazing views of the beach, the room had been recently refurbished to a high standard. Staff were really helpful, and the choice at breakfast was delicious...

Review 76:This hotel has a wonderful location with really friendly staff. Currently undergoing refurbishment so ensure you get a refurbished sea view room as the older rooms can be a little shabby.

Review 77:For £90 we stayed in a half room which in the future will be restored to its original size. The room was shabby, contained no details about the hotel ie timings etc, no fire signage and it was a complete rip off. We were interested in up grading but the receptionist wasn't bothered enough to pursue that with us. We were never asked if we had a good stay and on reflection we would not stay there again-as no care of guests.

Review 78:The location is fantastic. Good breakfast

Review 79:The windows tended to rattle and the room was quite basic. However it was very clean and the bed was comfortable.

Review 80:The location was excellent as was the price. The food in the evening meal was delicious.

Review 81:Booked same standard rooms for ourselves and friends but there was no comparison in the rooms. Also we were on different hloors( but had not asked for same floor so it wasn't hotel fault. No hook for clothes in baghroom

Review 82:Welcome from friendly staff who tried their best to help. Very easy to access all facilities

Review 83:The only thing that I didn't like was there was a wedding there on the Saturday and the noise in our room from the disco was horrendous it was thud thud until 12pm. I didn't complain as I couldn't see that they could do anything about it. I would still stay at the hotel again definitely but would ask for a room over the lounge part of the hotel. Moan over (albeit a little one) we went to bed at 10-30 so wouldn't affect people who stay up later.

Review 84:The hotel was a good location, close to shops, pubs, clubs beach and lovely walks. We stayed for the weekend, this was our second stay. The food was very good we all had what we wanted for breakfast. We didn't try the other meals that were on offer but did see other people eating and it looked really good. The room we had was a superior room that has recently been updated, however we stayed in the lower priced room last time and don't see a lot of difference so would not pay the extra. Last time we stayed we had a lovely full sea view but this time we overlooked the next hotel and only had a side window with a sea view.

Review 85:We had a room at the top of the hotel and to be honest the rest where being refurbished but ours was in poor condition

Review 86:The food and downstairs area was smart and comfortable

Review 87:I stayed in one of the non-refurbished rooms. Bathroom was a bit old, and room was quite little.

Review 88:Beautiful location, in front of the sea. Room was small but clean and comfortable. Really good breakfast and nice staff. I needed an early breakfast (7:30) and they managed to arrange a delicious cooked breakfast just for me.

Review 89:To be honest I can't find nothing wrong can't wait to go back

Review 90:I loved my sea view room and the breakfast was perfect the staff were friendly and couldn't do a enough for you :)

Review 91:Free wifi would be a welcome addition.

Review 92:The location is about as good as it can be in Tenby, and given how beautiful Tenby is, that makes it pretty damn good.

Review 93:In the past, the larger rooms in the hotel were sub-divided into smaller rooms. This is in the process of being reversed. Despite this, the sea view room we had (not yet refurbished) had a superb view of South Beach. Will return in the future to a larger room.

Review 94:Would have liked a bigger sitting area in room but the hotel is refurbishing to larger seaview rooms looks very nice the ones theyve done

Review 95:Very welcoming clean and comfortable

Review 96:poor bedroom, floor badly slanting foot of bed higher that head of bed. Ensuite not good. I appreciate the bedrooms are being upgraded. If we had been staying longer |I would have asked to move rooms.

Review 97:Location, friendly staff

Review 98:Wifi intermittent and not reliable. Shower in room 310 had poor water pressure and was leaking.

Review 99:Location ideal, staff very friendly and helpfull. Price of room

Review 100:The rooms with half a bay window! You can hear people talking in room next to you! Will look forward to returning when all the rooms have been up graded.

Review 101:The staff were all friendly hotel spotless food good. A love peaceful place for a great relaxing weekend.

Review 102:1st room given was very small old fashioned decor and floors were on a slant. had to upgrade to another room which was perfect and what we would have expected , the upgrade but cost us an additional £20 per night.

Review 103:Location and service was perfect

Review 104:Breakfast.Buffet style breakfast would be better would be my only gripe.

Review 105:Staff were very attentive, rooms spotless, would highlyrecommmend to anyone staying here as ive tried quite a few in tenby and this takes some beating .

Review 106:Not so much a bad experience but we could have done with more comfortable seating, some high backed chairs perhaps. Restaurant was cold... but it is January!

Review 107:Staff were very good and had a free room upgrade. Food was excellent, you won't want to eat elsewhere. Spotlessly clean.

Review 108:third time at the hotel where we had enjoyed the hotel's entertainment, this time no entertainment of any sort, disappointed

Review 109:service,location, breakfast, comfort of room (pay the extra for a sea view if you can)all faultless

Review 110:TWIN ROOM WITH DIVIDED WINDOW! VERY POKEY OBVIOUSLY HAS BEEN PARTITIEND AT SOME TIME TO MAKE ANOTHER BEDROOM, NOT REALLY GOOD VALUE FOR THE PRICE of £90 should be less expensive e.g.£70 dispite the sea view

Review 111:staff great/breakfast great/overall very good apart from the room

Review 112:The room when I booked the room on the net it looked new and enviting so my wife and I was excited. when we entered the room we where a little disappointed to say the least it looked nothing like advertised on line it was dated to say the least the drop in the floor was uncomfortable the wardrobe was made level with bits of wood jamed under the front I dont want to put this hotel down but the rooms definitely are not worth £90 per night

Review 113:The staff where excellent the food was great Could not fault either

Review 114:First visit to the giltar and we will definitely stay there again. The location, the food , the staff , everything was excellent. We stayed one of the standard rooms which hadn't yet been refurbished but was still very comfortable. Can't wait to go back .

Review 115:Nothing

Review 116:There was nothing to dislike rooms were lovely breakfast was hot and good. Staff we're lovely. All in all a good trip to watch Wales play. Will definitely go back

Review 117:We payed extra for front sea view room which we had, all be it you had to stand in the corner of the small room to see anything, Too small with poor funrnishing

Review 118:Hotel is well placed on sea front, breakfast was good, staff friendly and helpful.

Review 119:Car parking, arrangements could be made for parking near the hotel we used the multistory car park.

Review 120:The friendly staff, the quality of the accommodation and the good quality food together with the efficient service by the staff at mealtimes. All in all a good efficiently run hotel.

Review 121:Single glazed windows with a crack in the glass. A bit of rattling and wind noise as a result.

Review 122:Great location. Excellent arrangement for a short break in Tenby. Staff pleasant and polite. Thinking of going back soon with my wife.

Review 123:Car park was very small and was lucky to find a spot just outside the hotel.

Review 124:Room was small but comfortable and had a great sea view. Location was excellent and not to far away from some of tenby's main attractions and night life. Would definetly use again.

Review 125:There was nothing to dislike.

Review 126:From the time we walked through the doors to the time we left was an excellent and enjoyable experience. Did not want to leave, and can not wait for a return visit. Plenty of food choices, excellent service throughout.

Review 127:I hadn't checked the website properly so hadn't expected to feel squashed into what felt like half a room but I am told the rooms are being restored to their former glory.. Noise from other visitors above and next to us disturbed our sleep. Parking - you need to be lucky

Review 128:Helpfulness of staff (eg.lending us an umbrella in a downpour!) Quality of evening menu & Great breakfasts. Wonderful location for walking by the sea and through the town.

Review 129:Hotel should invest in memory foam mattresses, for the price of the room the shower room was just to small and unusable. Parking a nightmare.

Review 130:View, location,

Review 131:Room was lovely, clean, tidy, and even though we went only for one night, the staff were lovely. Breakfast was delicious, and the treatment of us matched any other couple there, even though they had been busy with a function. The hotel staff offered to look after our belongings after we checked out and were more than pleasant throughout our stay.

Review 132:the room I was in had not been refurbished. it was slightly tired though comfortable and served me very well for my long weekend stay in Tenby for Ironman Wales.

Review 133:the hotel put on a full breakfast at 04-30 for everyone comoeting in and supporting Ironman Wales. Staff were amazing. cheerful. efficient and helpful. Thank you

Review 134:Limited car parking was a slight worry but I didn't really have any trouble.

Review 135:Location was perfect - overlooking the sea, next to the beach & a couple of minutes walk to the town centre. The staff were lovely & helpful. They let me upgrade when I arrived to a room with a sea view, to wake up to the view was amazing. I could see the islands from my room. Lovely place.

Review 136:The bed was the only complaint we had about this hotel.... This was the second time we chose to stay at this hotel, the first time we had no issues at all ...thus being the reason we chose to return.... Unfortunatly this time around the bed was very uncomfortable, both myself and husband did not sleep all night. The bed was too hard and very lumpy, I do believe that the mattress has seen better days and needs to be replaced.... Unfortunatly we will not be returning for a third time. Shame really as we have no other complaints.....

Review 137:Location is fantastic, views were fabulous and a short walk from town centre.... Hotel was clean and tidy and the staff very helpfull and friendly..... Option for Breakfast in Bed for a small fee.... Easy to find... Public carpark 100 yards away.... Shower really good, powerful and hot...

Review 138:The room sloped 6 inches and the armour needed a 1 inch piece of wood on the front legs to stop it from falling. You could feel the springs in the bed. I didn't get any sleep

Review 139:the location

Review 140:Great location- right across the street from the water, and only a few short blocks from Frog Street. I was traveling alone and enjoyed being able to get a drink and hang in the large front room at the end of a long day. My room was tiny but clean.
