Reviews for St Brelade's Bay Hotel
Review 1:Pool was a bit too cold for me to use.
Review 2:The hotel is very comfortable with a warm homely feel, staff were very helpful. Room with sea view and balcony was just lovely.
Review 3:My only complaint is the kitchen could not produce a decent 'eggs benidict'...but the rest of the breakfast selection made up for it.
Review 4:Everything from this hotel was perfect. We had a sea view room with balcony, and what a view!! The pool was heavenly, I had a swim every morning before breakfast. The poached haddock is lovely. The maitre d looked after us particularly well.....many thanks, all the food was delicious. Thank you to all the staff for a lovely stay, we will be back.
Review 5:The view from our front room was beautiful and the room itself was very comfortable. The food was very good and all of the staff were friendly and helpful.
Review 6:Position of hotel, amazing views of St. Brelade's Bay, friendliness & helpfulness of staff. Choice of food at breakfast. We did not have an evening meal as we were eating out with friends.
Review 7:very good position on beach with lovely gardens at rear. We took our family and their 18month old and facilities were very good - children's meals, playroom, poo,l toys etc. We will definitely return,.
Review 8:Hotel deserved its first class reputation. We enjoyed the facilities it offered and the beautiful gardens. We loved its sea view and its closeness to the sea. We found the food excellent and the variety and choices on the menus. Our adult daughter who accompanied us loved her stay and the relaxation and the facilities the hotel offered.
Review 9:No air conditioning. No Corbi trouser press. No refrigerator. No shaving mirrors. No lights directly over mirrors. Room was a bit "tired".
Review 10:Sea view from bedroom excellent. Hotel close to several good seafront restaurants. Wells served by local bus services. Good parking for cars. Close to airport without any aircraft noise.
Review 11:Service of hot bar food was too strict closing at 9.00pm was too early.
Review 12:Outdoor pool excellent however the temp of the indoor pool was on the cold side. Good facilities for families with small children.
Review 13:Staff on reception didn't smile much! Also when we arrived we asked to have breakfast with some friends who were also staying at the hotel, the bridegroom who was getting married later that day and his father and we were told we couldn't all sit together in the restaurant even though it was practically empty! Also walls in rooms v thin so we could hear everyone walking past our room and everything they were saying.
Review 14:Breakfast food was lovely. And food in general...wedding meal and buffet were excellent.
Review 15:Not a bad experience at all quite the opposite. But value for money im not so sure, why is this hotel is so expensive. ?Almost twice as much as the L'Horizon which is also ion the beach and more modern with the same facilities apart from the garden pool area.!!
Review 16:The Location is great right on the beach. The pool and garden areas are fabulous. The Health Club is impressive. The breakfast is plentiful. The Staff are very good.
Review 17:the breakfast host wouldnt let me anywere near the window ..think you had to be a proper regular to get those tables .. hopefully in years to come ,he might give me the nod .. still loved the place
Review 18:great location ,lovely pool and bar overlooking the beach..got the best weather in our 3 days and the whole place was clean tidy and safe as houses
Review 19:None
Review 20:The facilities in the hotel were top rate, and the private gardens were beautifully cared for including the outdoor pool and garden onto the beach.
Review 21:Absolutely nothing. This is a gem!
Review 22:Lovely staff, beautiful room, balcony overlooking the most incredible beach, breakfast in bed, award winning gardens etc etc........
Review 23:No mini bar / fridge in room. No Air Conditioning. Bed Linen and Pillows had better quality in other hotels. Hot breakfast served cool under the wretched headlamps.
Review 24:Sea View Rooms outstanding, Good Service from Bar and Room Staff. General efficiency throughout. Excellent Leisure Centre,
Review 25:The location of this hotel is one of the most amazing things, St Brelade's bay itself is absolutely stunning even in the rain! It is definitely worth paying the extra for a sea view balcony room which we did. We stayed here for my birthday and I cant fault anything about it, from the rooms to the staff and the food. I will definitely be coming back!!
Review 26:Unfortunately away from reception the quality of staff was mixed; The young guys in the health centre would walk away to do something else in the middle of serving us without an apology or explanation while the ladies doing the treatments were very professional. In the cocktail bar there was an Irish guy who was excellent while the rest had a limited knowledge of making cocktails and thought it more important to wipe tables than serve customers.
Review 27:The hotel was a real gem, has an old fashioned charm to the front with an excellent health centre; it has a large pool and well equipped gym. We booked relatively late and got a good deal. The reception and restaurant staff were excellent.
Review 28:A beautiful hotel with lovely touches which lift this hotel above others. Superb, friendly staff. The attached gym and spa is a real bonus. Food amazing.
Review 29:Didnt like the fact that we had booked an expensive sea view room only to find it had an adjoining door. The problem was that it allowed the noise from next door to pervade through and so was kept awake all night listening to the neighbours TV and much more!
Review 30:Loved the spa and the friendly staff
Review 31:We didn't like the upstairs downstairs feel of this Hotel. The staff although efficient were devoid of any personality of their own. Unfortunately the food in the restaurant was not up to scratch and it was all a bit of a jumble with waiters running around bumping into each other. Get you in and get you out feeling. Everything seemed to shut down early, the bar although nice was dead at 9.30 on purpose I think as the barmen had disappeared! The bed linen was terrible and had seen better days which was a shame as the room was fine and had a good view. My opinion get some nice white linen and fluffy duvets and tell the staff not to appear too frightened of the customer!
Review 32:We liked the location best which was opposite the Bay and a short stroll to the several seafood restaurants, cafes and even Pizza Express! The Hotel although nice enough was too traditional for us.
Review 33:My only negative would be the bed linen. Pure cotton bedding would have made our stay perfect.
Review 34:From the warm welcome to the lovely hotel and fantastic food, the staff could not have been more helpful. We can't wait to return.
Review 35:Heard about lovely buffet breakfast.. Booked bed and breakfast on that. No buffet available .. Bed uncomfortable with ridge between partner and myself . starters ...although tasty...very small.
Review 36:Cleanliness. Fruit in room .
Review 37:NONE!
Review 38:Hotel only 10 mins from airport.delighted with hotel location, staff, food and bedrooms..seaview room over St Brelades was perfect. We will definitely be returning?
Review 39:We were well looked after and enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere. Excellent bus service stops just by the Hotel making the whole island easily accessible. Good coastal walks start right outside the Hotel
Review 40:Fabulous location, the hotel was quiet, the room was excellent, large, spacious and the most comfortable hotel bed I have ever slept in! The staff were exceptional, extremely helpful above and beyond. The hotel was exquisitely, tastefully decorated and furnished. Could not recommend this hotel highly enough.
Review 41:Windows in room74 very bad wind seals, suggest you call in installer under warranty.
Review 42:Head waiters very welcoming and efficient so service excellent as was food.
Review 43:Breakfast - not much option as cannot eat grains or dairy, which is very common these days. Asked for no toast but still my eggs got served on toast both mornings. Quite frustrating but not enough to not make me want to go back
Review 44:Everything was lovely apart from breakfast
Review 45:Having three waiting staff hovering over us at breakfast. It is a buffet and I am sorry to say there are far too many waiting staff.
Review 46:We live in Jersey and escape here once or twice a year. The sea view rooms are lovely and health club facilities excellent. Just need to negotiate the road and on the beach.
Review 47:None!
Review 48:I booked an ocean view room for my boyfriends birthday in November this year. I requested for a cake to be placed in our room on arrival and staff were very accommodating with this request and the cake was delicious! The most special part was that we were upgraded to a top level suite at no extra cost which made our stay very special. The suite had the best view over the bay from our lounge and double balcony and was so quiet at night. We didn't want to leave! They went out of there way to make our 2 night stay one to remember and I wouldn't want to stay at any other hotel on Jersey!
Review 49:The items in the serve yourself hot breakfast bar were cold even though the containers sat on barely warm hot plates. We stayed on a weekend when breakfast was served from 7.00am - 10.00am. It appeared that the hot items had been cooked ready for 7.00am when most of the guests came down at 9.00am. Very few cold items available. The quality of the product was poor.
Review 50:The hotel has fantastic views over the bay. Reception staff were helpful. Good wifi reception.
Review 51:We had a lovely spotless room with a balcony and great sea views, a single fold-up bed was added to accommodate all 4 of us, which made an otherwise adequate room compact, but we were comfortable. With young kids we were worried about the boredom factor, but from day one after a morning stroll on the beach, we were shown the playroom and the games/movie room. The indoor pool was also a big hit especially when the weather turned. We were never short of things to do and the staff were most helpful. The welcome fruit basket was a nice touch and we were all sad to leave.
Review 52:Girls could only use the pool between 10-12 and 3-5pm which was a bit restrictive if we were out seeing the island.
Review 53:Posh hotel, lovely room with a seaview and balcony, amazing view, beautiful bay, helpful staff, lovely food....everything. 4 ad 3 ch age 12 had a wonderful holiday. Would go back and will definitely recommend. Thanks
Review 54:Bed uncomfortably hard
Review 55:Large room Excellent health club Excellent breakfasts Very helpful staff beautiful views from the hotel Lovely gardens
Review 56:From the moment we arrived to our departure, the staff and facilities made for a truly restorative stay. A very high quality establishment in every respect. And the setting is magnificent!
Review 57:Fridge in the room would be nice but not essential.
Review 58:Staff very friendly and attentive. The food is excellent and service first class. The hotels facilities also are excellent.
Review 59:Poor room facilities - no fridge, very poor quality and small TV which needed excessive volume for intelligible speech, used water not replenished daily, Poor noise separation between rooms (snoring in the adjacent room very audible). Some staff, particularly in the restaurant, were inappropriately familiar in their greeting, one had very poor personal hygiene very apparent every time he passed. Restaurant tables are far too small for 4 people, fitting everything on, particularly at breakfast, was precarious. As already mentioned however, all food was exceptional. Games room required payment for use of the facilities which is surprising considering the cost of the overall stay.
Review 60:Good size rooms, amazing food, staff generally attentive and most treating you with the respect expected from a hotel of this nature.
Review 61:Having to leave!
Review 62:It was my partner's birthday, and I wanted our stay in St Brelade's Bay Hotel to be a secret right up until the time we arrived there. The hotel manager agreed to arrange for a birthday cake to be made with my wonderful man's name on it, when I'd phoned them several days earlier. They hid it until the end of our romantic meal together and really joined in with the fun of the surprise when the lights were turned down and the candles were lit. There was laughter and clapping from the other guests, and our waiter encouraged the shared camaraderie. Not only did they make that cake, but they upgraded us to the most amazing room we'd ever slept in. Well actually, it wasn't a room so much as an apartment with views to die for. We sat on the balcony, drank champagne and nibbled at complimentary fresh fruit before dressing for dinner, whilst looking out on the most breath-taking sea view imaginable. Everything was top quality and absolutely nothing was too much trouble. It might have only been a staycation, but we haven't stopped talking about it since, as we were just so well looked after from the minute we arrived until the time we said goodbye. Would we go back again? You bet!!
Review 63:wedding party staying overnight showing no or little respect towards fellow guests. Very noisy until 2.30am! Some Breakfast staff with attitude problems Showing no intrest in their work Just going through the motions
Review 64:location cleanliness room service reception staff very helpful
Review 65:Drinks, dinner, lunch snacks, far too expensive for the average traveller. We ate and drank elsewhere, therefore how many other people feel the same and go elsewhere.?
Review 66:The position, the rooms, the staff, the garden and facilities.
Review 67:The windows to the balcony did not shut properly, so there was a draught. The shower head was rather small and did not spray water properly - not sure if it was poor water pressure or the head need cleaning. Worst though was that the health club shut at 6 (because it was a Sunday), just as I arrived from the ferry. I'm not sure the price paid reflected this lack of facilities.
Review 68:Great location and views of the bay if you have a sea view room. Spacious room, lots of space for clothes, fresh fruit provided.
Review 69:Leaving!
Review 70:An absolutely fab hotel! Room size was great, bathroom big, clean and modern. Lovely comfy bed and pillows. Even a turn down service for the beds at night. The décor throughout the hotel was spotless and contemporary but blended in perfectly with the history of the building. Breakfast superb with lots of choice. All very proffesionaly run with attention to the little details. The gardens are beautiful - only sorry we didn't get the chance to use the pools. Would definitely recommend and return.
Review 71:Beautifully decorated, ornate, luxurious, yet so relaxing with great staff. Sea view room with balcony, not huge but a perfect weekend. With just a few steps from bedroom to beach for early morning swim or there's the indoor pool! Food - top breakfast
Review 72:We are a local Jersey couple and received an upgrade to one of the suites that was gorgeous. Staff were so friendly. Excellent facilities and felt very spoilt and cared for .
Review 73:Bed was a little hard.
Review 74:Excellent staff, very attentive, especially Anne (reception) and Ricardo (dining room). Very friendly and relaxed ambience. Food was of high standard, with portions maybe too generous for those of mature years.
Review 75:Nothing.
Review 76:Everything. A comfortable, luxurious hotel in a wonderful location with incredible views and excellent seafood restaurants within walking distance. This is an ideal place for mature couples, rather than those with noisy, small children. Beautiful walks. Good bus service to St Helier. Facilities and staff are outstanding. Value for money. We'll be back!
Review 77:Noisy children in hotel restaurant
Review 78:Hotel position Clean beach Access to cliff walks Excellent food Good wine selection Tennis court Helpful staff
Review 79:A lot of noise of other guests and creaking floorboards Also noise of room cleaning staff outside rooms early in morning so no lay in And room service cleaning trolleys in hallway narrow and difficult to pass
Review 80:Great facility and location
Review 81:The only negative was that the food was ready plated, and so often too much for a small eater, meaning either being wasteful and feeling guilty, or eating too much. This time I ate too much. Next time I will be wasteful, which is difficult for a wartime child used to: "Waste not, want not".
Review 82:The room, staff, food, everything
Review 83:Location of hotel for complete relaxation and tranquility.
Review 84:Whilst it was only 1 night for business it was "Great Stay"
Review 85:Condescending reception staff
