Reviews for The Spa Hotel

Review 1:Food in Brasserie.

Review 2:Delightful, helpful staff, nothing was too much trouble.. Breakfast. Beautiful room - 314. Visiting for our sisters funeral and you made sure we were as comfortable as possible and we appreciated this very much indeed. . Hotel beautifully decorated and grounds excellent. Gym and pool a bonus.

Review 3:Can't really comment due to very short stay.

Review 4:The offer price we paid via Tripvisor was the main reason for staying in Tunbridge Wells at the Spa, the cost worked out better than getting a cab there and back to Bromley to a birthday celebration near by.

Review 5:Nothing

Review 6:Everything was excellent; the building, decor, maintenance of the premises, the location, the staff, the service and the food. What more can I say!

Review 7:great value, from the outside appears dated Victorian pile, inside high quality renovation, best shower ever. Breakfast excellent (bit pricy though). Certainly go again.

Review 8:Nothing at all

Review 9:Stayed here a few times now and never been dissapointed by anything. Let us stay an hour later than check out as my partner wasn't feeling well. Room service was a little pricey but worth the money as the food is brilliant. Only took 15 minutes and turned up fresh and hot! The room view was beautiful over the grounds in room 110 and the bathroom was much more than expected. Amazing value for money all round especially if you want somewhere that provides that extra bit- spa is easily accessible from my room, open till late and early again in the morning. Best value for money I've found in a hotel for a good few years! Can't reccomend enough!

Review 10:Think it's not the case I didn't like , but thought the swimming pool could be made more inviting and has a lot off potential to create a more off a wow factor , also still not a problem but keys to the room a little out dated now specially to put such a big key tag in your pocket , specially if your a bloke , but overall We had a pleasant stay ,

Review 11:The staff was very helpful and polite , and very well presented , nice relaxing stay , room was very clean and spacious .

Review 12:Breakfast was not of a very high standard it tasted reheated and the swimming pool was chilly and a little shabby.

Review 13:Staff very friendly and we were given an upgrade as it was my partners birthday. The bedroom was very large and the bed was really comfortable .

Review 14:There seemed to be a bit of an issue with the kitchen closing at 21:30. We were asked at the time we ordered our main if we wanted a desert, due to the closing time (we arrived in the brasserie around 20:30). We said we would decide and the waitress would return, but didn't. Not an issue as we decided against anyway. Roasted potatoes were ordered with the main but did not arrive until we were at lest half way through the meal. When they did arrive, they were boiled new potatoes, not roasted. They were taken away and returned around the time we finished our meal. We were not charged for the potatoes and our drinks were also taken off the bill which was appreciated, but for your information only, I explain this problem for your future attention.

Review 15:Very relaxing stay. Lovely spa and gym facilities. Treatments were excellent.

Review 16:The view out of our window left a little to be desired The aircon was a little noisy and over eager

Review 17:Very pleasant staff Nothing we asked was too much trouble

Review 18:The pool. Supposed to be adults only after 4pm on Saturday, more like quarter past 5, which if you are there for a relaxing Spa experience is unacceptable.

Review 19:The Brasserie

Review 20:Thumping disco music beneath my room until gone 12.30. Asked for a dry martini and got a tiny tumbler with no ice or slice of lemon ie very poor presentation and the service did not come with a smile Newly decorated reception area had huge square coffee tables so very difficult to arrange into an intimate grouping Breakfast was not included in the price Spa changing rooms are very cramped

Review 21:Very convenient for Tunbridge Wells Comfortable rooms Spa staff were very pleasant

Review 22:The only thing was not having rooms next to each other, but it was a late booking.

Review 23:We enjoyed all the facilities,my grandchildren loved the pool. My daughter enjoyed her evening meal in the restaurant

Review 24:Conference on so a little busy. Restaurant & brasserie way overpriced.

Review 25:Classic styled rooms, good size, comfort, cool gardens. Receptionist v professional (Canadian lady)

Review 26:Rooms were large enough with all the 4 star appointments - it was a comfortable stay. The meals in the restaurant were a good size and value for money. The conference room was well appointed with all the audion visuals in good working order

Review 27:We would have loved a jacuzzi and the swimming pool to be slightly warmer but other than that we loved our stay.

Review 28:Staff were lovely and friendly. Facilities were nice and lots of lovely restaurants nearby.

Review 29:We have visited twice in the last month and cannot fault a thing. Dinner in the brasserie was fantastic and very reasonably priced. Rooms are spacious, spotlessly clean and excellent value.

Review 30:The changing rooms at the pool were disgusting, when I asked the receptionist of The Spa did they sell shorts (forgot mine)? He replied "no mate' when I sent in my booking request I mentioned it was my wife's birthday and would it be possible to get an upgrade. No one mentioned the possibility of an upgrade or wished her a happy birthday. Not great

Review 31:The grounds and Tunbridge wells itself.

Review 32:Room rather tired and dated. Although very nice I think that breakfast should be included in the price not an additional £13.95

Review 33:Friendly staff and comfortable bed. Coffee and tea making facilities and good location.

Review 34:Do not like room located above pool as created a constant drumming noise and increased temperature of the room.

Review 35:Nice hotel, excellent staff and cleanliness.

Review 36:The air conditioning in our room was very noisy, so at 9 p.m. we were moved - to the bridal suite, but the lights in the large bathroom had fused, so we ere moved again to another large room complete with four-poster. The staff were very helpful through all of this.

Review 37:Service in the bistro was terrible. Staff were really nice and friendly but it took over 3 hours to serve us a fish and a plate of cheese. Terrible service, we almost left without eating!

Review 38:Spa was brilliant, great staff and facilities and the treatment was great.

Review 39:Very poor and unhelpful staff. Buzzer that sounds throughout the night to leave you with a sleepless night.Satff not interested when you report it.

Review 40:The food in the brasserie

Review 41:there was a note in room about the hotel being targeted by thieves, so I was obviously afraid of getting robbed and was locking my bags and closet every time I left room. Internet is poor and there's no opting of upgrading it so i couldn't work in the room. Bed headboard, curtains and sofa fabrics could be better cleaned, there were stains all over them. Was put in a room where I had to take the stairs to get to, didn't feel welcome when carrying a very large bag, weighing over 50lbs, after a 8 hours flight and 2 hours train ride, with no help from staff. It is a nice place overall, but not cheap. I expected more for my money.

Review 42:It's on a beautiful spot, spa is nice.

Review 43:Perhaps signage to Main Reception from various corridors around the building could be improved; otherwise there was nothing I didn't like

Review 44:A lovely, comfortable hotel with friendly and helpful staff

Review 45:It wasn't a bad experience but the safety mat for bath/shower looked grubby and old, especially in contrast with the freshness and cleanliness of the towels and bed linen.

Review 46:The room was comfortable and clean, the bath was wide enough for me to be able to use it. The staff were friendly, the public areas attractive.

Review 47:Very comfortable bed and charming staff. Service at the FLBA Dinner, which was the purpose of staying, was slow and the food was not as hot as it might have been

Review 48:STAFF UNHELPFUL. £15 FOR A BUCKET OF ICE LUDICROUS. BEDS SO SMALL YOU COULD SIT ON BED AND TOUCH THE FLOOR BOTH SIDES WITH YOUR FEET!! OLD FASHIONED, DONT CLEAN UNDER BEDS. FOUND USED CONDOM UNDER BED. TOO HOT IN ROOM. CHEAP FURNISHINGS AND A RUBBER HAIRY BATH MAT. TOWELS BASIC SIZE. DIRTY CUPS IN TEA MAKING FACILITY. WEDDING PARTY FAR TOO NOISY WALLS PAPER THIN DOORS BANG. FOR £190 ONE NIGHT SHOULD HAVE RETURNED HOME WOULD HAVE SLEPT BETTER.

Review 49:HOTEL LOOKED NICE ON THE INTERNET. PLEASANT RECEPTION. BEDROOMS SOME WAY FROM RECEPTION.

Review 50:A little away from the shops if you wanted to pop out to buy something. Couldn't accept laundry on weekends which is a problem if its one stop as part of a larger trip. Also my room was located on the wrong side of the noise attenuation doors when the hotel hosted a party. Not much sleep that night.

Review 51:Old style bedrooms. Lots of facilities at the hotel. Many of the rooms look spectacular.

Review 52:Parking was a problem. The 2 parking areas located on the street level were full of day visitors cars, people attending the spa, or a reception. Hotel guests had to avail themselves of the lower car park and climb about 50 steps to reach the hotel.

Review 53:The relaxed atmosphere.

Review 54:Although the room was nice and a good size strangely there were no draws to put your clothes in so you had to leave your non "hang up" clothes in your suitcase, other than that. good sized bathroom, tea and coffee facilities. Other issue is that room was above a function room and as there were two functions on Saturday night we found it difficult to get off to sleep with the loud music, having said that we would return.

Review 55:A grab rail on the wall above the bath would make it safer getting ln and out. Also simple bars meals would have made an attractive alternative to the restaurant.

Review 56:Room service was very limited and food didn't come as expected. A taxi booked an hour in advance did not appear. Staff were not particularly helpful. Breakfast was also a great disappointment.

Review 57:Large spacious bedroom. Bottled water in bedroom was a bonus.

Review 58:Being told on check in that breakfast was included (as you'd expect it to be for £180 a room), then having to pay £28 for myself and my girlfriend when told by the same receptionist that it actually wasn't. I wouldn't have eaten the breakfast if I knew it was going to cost me that much, I was totally mislead by the staff and then forced to pay! Also the rooms are extremely basic for £180.

Review 59:The grounds and bar were very nice.

Review 60:This was the second time we have stayed at the Spa Hotel, another very enjoyable stay! Time to relax in the spa facilities and lovely food in the restaurant on the first night! We will be back!

Review 61:Revamped since last visit seems to have lost the old roomy atmosphere

Review 62:In a perfect location for our visit to see our friends Kent county side was lovely Staff service was brilliant

Review 63:Price of room did not include breakfast. Thought that £170 for a double room should include breakfast. The pool was smaller than expected.

Review 64:The gym was nice. Treatments a touch expensive. Staff very nice.

Review 65:The dinner in the main restaurant was very poor and certainly not worth the money charged. A real disappointment for what was otherwise a lovely stay.

Review 66:Room and ambience was excellent

Review 67:Breakfast was poor. Also the room was in desperate need of an upgrade. TV was at an akward angle in the corner which made it difficult to watch and bath was not really big enough to shower in as no seperate shower

Review 68:Spa and Gym facilities were very good. Refurbished parts of hotel very good and evening food excellent.

Review 69:The wifi in the room was a little slow but this is a minor point and it was free of charge.

Review 70:What's not to like? The premium contemporary room was large and we'll set out with a really comfy bed. The leisure facilities are a great asset. Food on the brasserie was superb.

Review 71:Really noisy beer delivery at 6:30 in the morning. Window was right above delivery area. Could do with a better lit, better positioned mirror in the room for doing makeup in. Really expensive sandwich.

Review 72:Comfy bed. Prompt service when we asked for an iron. Great location and lovely outside area for the wedding reception we were attending.

Review 73:I thought I booked bed and breakfast when I booked in they said I had not. The next morning I saw someone else query this so thought it was not just me!

Review 74:The location was excellent and staff where helpful.

Review 75:I was looking for a comfortable place to stay for a night while visiting friends. I was allocated one of the recently refurbished rooms. It was comfortable, stylish and much better than other hotels that I have visited in this price range.

Review 76:There was nothing to dislike.

Review 77:The recent refurbish is of an extremely high standard and in keeping with the hotels age and style. The food is excellent and fantastic value for money. The room we had was beautifully decorated, clran and very comfortable. The staff and very helpful and friendly and the whole experience was one of luxury without the feeling of snobbery.

Review 78:The "premium" room was in fact a standard contemporary room, which was very ordinary, so we felt cheated. When we complained and argued about it, they moved us to room 303 which was much better, but still far from excellent. There were only two satellite TV channels, so describing the hotel as having "satellite TV" is misselling. The swimming pool was cold and dirty.

Review 79:The bathroom in room 303 was very nice with two showers (hand-held and overhead) and a separate bath. The grounds behind the hotel were lovely.

Review 80:We absolutely loved staying at the Spa Hotel. The staff were welcoming and assisted us with any of our queries. The room was beautiful and the bathroom was massive and emaculate! We didn't want to leave! I would definitely stay at the spa hotel again without a doubt!

Review 81:Could not open the windows more than a few centimetres, room really hot, should have been air conditioning where the windows are fixed, could not sleep due to the heat.

Review 82:Breakfast too expensive unless hot food taken. Scandalous to charge £ 13.95 for cold breakfast. Size of standard double room - no.219 -very small for two people.

Review 83:Food in brasserie good, and hotel grounds very nice.

Review 84:I didn't have a very good sleep - twin bed was not especially comfortable, feather pillow caused allergy symptoms and room was too hot.

Review 85:Beautiful building and grounds with some excellent fitness/wellness facilities, which I made use of. The massage treatment was fabulous.

Review 86:Breakfast was very poor. Soggy bacon, tasteless sausages. Yoghurt also tasteless. A LOT of money for an overcooked soggy breakfast. Room wasn't well insulated, very noisy and disturbed sleep. Our room was directly above a disco dance floor

Review 87:Beautiful building & grounds

Review 88:We ate in the bistro our first evening. The food was not great. I had what should have been a Tomato and Mozzarella starter which consisted of a few doorstops of different tomatoes and two tiny smears of soft cheese - cost £8.95. Our other issue was with one of the breakfast staff. We came down on our first morning just before 9.30, We assumed that breakfast was until 10. Actually it was till 9.30 but we were not told. I mention this as a possible reason why our waiter was extremely surly, although he was the same the next day. On the 3rd day of our stay he was not there and the other staff were lovely.

Review 89:Nice room, excellent bathroom and the breakfast itself was good. Most of the staff were very nice.

Review 90:The whole atmosphere of the hotel. Staff were friendly and polite and showed an interest in their guests. Food was excellent and there was a wide choice.

Review 91:The staff were doing their jobs well and were curtious and well presented however There Was something missing which meant this beautiful building lacked ambiance.

Review 92:Spa and pool. Location to town. Garden.

Review 93:Very expensive for what was a standard room. Our party of 15 sat down for dinner at 7:30 on the Friday night, our starters took 2 hours to come out which is not ideal with children. Once our started had been served & we sorted out the wrong orders 10:30 rolled around to which point we cancelled the mains & went to KFC in the town! Very bad service throughout the meal!

Review 94:Showers where's nice!

Review 95:on arrival at 7.45 pm after a long journey the receptionist wasn't very welcoming and didn't highlight the facilities, like the gym, pool etc. I didn't feel welcomed.

Review 96:The room was nice and the space was good.

Review 97:Lack of WiFi connection, and breakfast was only served until 9.30 am. As our family party had attended a Wedding party off site the night before, we would have liked the option of a later breakfast. The hotel missed out as we walked into town and the 10 of us had a good breakfast else where at 11am.

Review 98:Friendly, helpful staff. Size of room, and windows that open, and a bath which we requested. Beautiful grounds and reception area Good parking

Review 99:Occasionally service seemed a bit disjointed at breakfast time think it depended how busy it was. Our room (116) was very spacious but the furniture was very dated. Bathroom, lovely.

Review 100:Ephraim - waiter in restaurant very obliging, found me a warm starter as all on menu were cold.

Review 101:Not really, but did not realise I needed to go down four steps with luggage to get to my room. Breakfast bacon hard.

Review 102:Staff very helpful and cleanliness excellent

Review 103:Room very stuffy and loud air conditioning unit on roof outside. They literally kicked us out of the bar when it closed - many people were wanting to sit and they could've quietly closed it without harassing guests to move to lobby, no acceptable for this standard hotel

Review 104:Very pretty hotel

Review 105:I paid a lot of money for a premium room and felt that the room I was given was not that of a premium standard. The pool and gym close at 8pm and feel this was too early as we couldn't spend long enough using the facilities. Additionally, on the night we stayed we were woken up several times during the evening/ early hours to shouting and swearing from a wedding party. We were not able to sleep well due to the noise.

Review 106:Nice grounds and facilities were nice.

Review 107:We had a baby buggy and the lifts were very tiny. Also no step free access to our room on the 1st floor despite taking the lift. After taking the lift we had to carry the buggy down a few steps. Ask for ground floor rooms when booking if you want to avoid the steps.

Review 108:Friendly and helpful staff. Room service and breakfast well presented. Free parking and wifi a bonus. Very close to the Pantiles and local sights like Penshurst.

Review 109:Breakfast quality was not really at the £14 per head value for money

Review 110:Very friendly reception staff. Helpful. Arranged early check in for us. Bar food was a bit pricey but absolutely delicious

Review 111:Great location within a 15 minute walk of T Wells. I stayed in a deluxe room which is well worth the extra cost. Great brasserie style bar with good food, you can also sit out in the garrdens

Review 112:Food took a long time to be delivered. The room was too hot and it was almost impossible to shower in the morning as the shower head kept falling off the wall.

Review 113:The main restaurant was closed when stayed but Zagatos bar staff were friendly. Ground were well kept.

Review 114:As I left a survey not sure why I am being asked again. I was not happy at being given room without a bath or the lack of signposts to the very tucked away room. M

Review 115:Ran out of room opposite also don't like being asked to pay before one has even seen the room. Having stayed twice now in June and last November won't stay again and I do expect to be coming to TW at least 4 times a year so this is a shame.

Review 116:Breakfast seemed a bit steep but is optional.

Review 117:Comfortable bed, nice rooms, cleanliness, very helpful staff, especially the man who got me a coffee & brandy late on.

Review 118:Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Beautiful grounds. Lovely staff, always willing to help. Always look forward to staying here...a real treat!

Review 119:The staff attitude was bit great or could have been due to shortage of staff . However that should not reflect on their attitude

Review 120:I know the spa hotel as lived as grew up in tunbrifgewells

Review 121:We were a big wedding party. Disappointed about the size / quality of room our friend was offered. It was TINY.

Review 122:Comfy bed. Good shower. Room not airconditioned though which made unpleasant on hot day.

Review 123:The fact that this is NOT a spa hotel, the pool is tiny, it had 4 people in it and was full, there was no where to relax by the pool, the steam room was not located next to the pool, the staff were rude, the cheek to call this a spa, it was a plunge pool.

Review 124:we liked the location and the initial impression of the hotel

Review 125:Lack of focus on 2nd day on 'full English Breakfast'. Buffet only so fried eggs had to be ordered and came on large dinner plate which meant they had to be moved onto the breakfast plate by table knife ... by me! Hardly a good image for the hotel.

Review 126:Ambience of hotel and spaciousness of facilities. Gardens were delightful to walk about and relax in.

Review 127:Car park at front under building work when arrived and not advised to find alternative entrance. Reception staff not friendly.

Review 128:Close to Tunbridge wells

Review 129:The building itself is beautiful. Although there was a huge function on and the hotel was fully booked, we did not know about other people in the hotel. Very peaceful and relaxing.

Review 130:Vacuuming in corridor started at 7.30 on Sunday morning! No Guinness (and shortage of several other drinks) in the bar within the function room I was in.

Review 131:Spa (sauna/steam room) facilities were clean. Water pressure in showers was good (high) Bed very soft and comfortable

Review 132:It was a shame that there was not 1 british member of staff. There were no specific complaints about the staff but there is always a language barrier with foreign staff.

Review 133:location. facilities

Review 134:Room was very small and the bed tiny. Breakfast left a lot to be desired. Fatty bacon, powdered eggs and little choice.

Review 135:Staff were professional, helpful and efficient. Hotel was clean and well maintained. Lunch in the bar was good.
