Reviews for Golden Sands
Review 1:The staff were amazing and there personal touch literally made the stay something we will always remember. Especially the assistant manager he was a man I can not remember his name. A total credit.
Review 2:No air conditioning but just opened the balcony door and listened to the waves lapping the shore! Beautiful
Review 3:This hotel is delightful. The staff are hugely friendly, reception staff address you by your name and are always ready to help if required or stop for a little chat. The dining room staff were also super and had my gluten free toast ready every morning. The choice at breakfast is super, the cafe bar and dining room have lovely menus with good quality, fresh ingredients. I was even able to sample a Gluten free Jersey cream tea, thanks to Demi the lovely cheery waitress! Our bedroom was very comfortable and clean and had views to die for being right next to the shore.
Review 4:Our room was at the end of the building next to a restuarant so there was a little noise from their extractor/air conditioning units but it stopped before midnight.
Review 5:Loved the hotel as it had a fantastic position. We paid for a sea view and so glad we did. The staff were very helpful and pleasant.
Review 6:Noise
Review 7:Very noisy due to thin walls and you can hear your neighbours whilst sitting on the lovely balcony which limits your privacy: a real shame as it's lovely.
Review 8:There was nothing 'not to like' !
Review 9:For a beach side hotel the location could not be better. The staff (mainly eastern Europeans) were super communicative and friendly to an, admittedly, mature client base. However a smattering of younger folk in situ elicited a similar response.
Review 10:Friendly and very helpful staff, they could not do enough, proximity to beach, very suitable for the group we were. Great menu for kids .good food for adults and again suited the sort of group we were
Review 11:We loved everything about the hotel - need to ensure book a sea view which is fantastic. The room was quite hot at night but felt safe leaving the door to the balcony open and it was lovely being able to listen to the sea lying in bed.
Review 12:The hotel's best asset is its staff - they are all very friendly and helpful. The location is wonderful, right on the seafront with a door leading from the bar area of the hotel to the beach with no road in-between.
Review 13:No air con but slept with balcony door open and listened to the waves instead :)
Review 14:Great location, directly on the best beach in Jersey. Delicious food. Friendly, helpful and attractive staff! :)
Review 15:The only thing that let the whole experience down was that the hotel was far too hot as there was no air conditioning. Even with the window and patio door open for the whole duration, it was still too warm at night.
Review 16:Breakfast was fantastic, location was lovely.
Review 17:The carpet caused my mother some issues as the design led to an illusion of being steps in places .
Review 18:The location of this hotel is wonderful , right on a beautiful sandy beach. The staff are the hotels best asset , they are friendly and helpful. Particular mention to Veronika in the restaurant and Daniel on reception who were both excellent and went out of their way to be helpful.
Review 19:I am only nit-picking here - the main hotel bed was very comfy but the beds for the children less so. The rooms have been completely renovated but the bathrooms have just been updated. The bathrooms were still well-maintained though and very clean. NB the hotel doesn't have any parking and so you have to park in the public car park opposite which has a scratch card system for payment (you can buy the cards at the hotel reception).
Review 20:The location of the hotel is wonderful - you are straight in to the beach at St Brelade. The staff were all very welcoming, great with the kids and the hotel was spotlessly clean. Amazing views from the room.
Review 21:We had a good experience it could have been excellent - I just didn't quit feel welcomed enough. More genuine smiles would go a long way towards fixing this. Only there for 2 nights - and the one time we wanted to take a bath we couldn't get hot water. Decor a little tired in places.
Review 22:It's an amazing location.
Review 23:Nothing apart from the weather
Review 24:Everything - the hotel is brilliant and perfect for young and old....we could not fault it having been back for a second year
Review 25:No air con in the rooms or public areas should be a minimum for a 4 star hotel these days it's not cheap to stay here so air con is a must
Review 26:On the beach in the best bay in Jersey
Review 27:Waiting 2 hours for our luggge to be sent to the room and after 3 phone calls it eventually arrive, for £219 per night we also did not expect two single beds pushed together at different heights and would have rather a double bed, room was very small with no air con considering a 4 star quite a poor effort overall
Review 28:Excellent food
Review 29:No bad experience
Review 30:Easy to get around by bus from hotel. Comfortable lounge to relax and a lovely view, with lots to see. No problem about having a wheelchair.
Review 31:Only one thing really, ordered breakfast in the room for 9.30 and it came at 9.55 so had to rush it to be out of the room for 10. Not much of an apology either.
Review 32:The cleanliness and friendly staff. Needed to change a couple of things on arrival and it was no bother for them. View was amazing especially when the fog came in over the bay.
Review 33:I booked this hotel last October, saying we were going to a wedding and if possible could we get in room ASAP , was told not a problem, when we arrived there they said we might beable to get in room , didn't say we will get the rooms they would ring as when the rooms were ready , we got in rooms at 11.30 which was fine , but it was the uncertainty of it
Review 34:Jersey is a lovely place , hotel was amazing
Review 35:Booking.com failed to inform hotel we had a young child, despite booking a triple room with 2 adults, 1 child and even giving age of child on booking!
Review 36:Could not have done more to look after us and rectify the mistake from Booking .com
Review 37:The room (& the whole hotel) was very warm with no air conditioning. Reception had s fan sent to our room in minutes
Review 38:The hotel was ideally situated for a short island break. The hotel staff were warm & friendly & nothing was too much bother
Review 39:No air con. Noisy table fan. Noisy extractor fan in bathroom. Noise from road with window open. Especially refuge collection early morning. Outdated decor and furniture in lounge / dinning area. No facilities.
Review 40:Clean hotel. Quality bed linen. Very friendly staff. Location perfect for beautiful St Brelades Bay close to restaurants and bus stops.
Review 41:the extremely thin walls, from rooms above and next door you could hear people moving around and i could even hear the man next door yawning loudly it was as if he was in my own bed ,,,, that was at 6.05 am 2 mornings on the trot.
Review 42:the view was wonderful
Review 43:Having to park in public car park was an issue. Hotel should have a system where you are given a car parking permit to park.
Review 44:Location was excellent. It was lovely to sleep with the doors open to the balcony and hear the sounds of the waves at night.
Review 45:We did not like that the hotel did not have it's own Car Park & we were forced to pay for parking which was a continual worry as there were time limits & the expense of parking became a burden. For this reason alone we would not use this hotel again.
Review 46:There was nothing we like. Staff rxceptional
Review 47:Beautiful position on great beach. No comparison to all inclusive hotel holidays in Spain. Too expensive for just bb rate plus airfares.
Review 48:I was booked into the most depressing room I have ever seen with such brash lighting one could not turn it on and such cheap depcration and lack of attention to detail and atmosphere that it defies belief. Awful color scheme, cheap carpet, a bathroom so small and ugly it would be better to wash in the sea. Making it unbearable in the middle of summer house keeping had left on the heater in the bathroom, staff smoked under the window so you could not open it so I slept in a room that was boiling with the stench of cheap cleaning material and the window closed to avoid the fumes until I realized much too late that the heating was on and that was why it was too hot. When I called downstairs they told me to call back in the morning then a manager came on and apologized but had only a similar room which at midnight one does not want to face. Have asked for a full refund and waiting to hear back. Decor in lobby equally cheap and dreadful. L'Horizon two doors up offers a superior experience for the same price.
