Reviews for Blorenge House
Review 1:The shower did not empty out properly, the waste needed cleaning out. My sister's room was very dark and she did not like the shower cubicle in the room.
Review 2:The waitress was attentive and friendly. The room we had was bright, clean and a good size.
Review 3:I have been here a few times, but the last time breakfast disappointed us. Although I do not expect from this hotel bathrobe and disposable slippers, but this time it was served moldy bread and bedspread was soiled grease spots.
Review 4:Located near the town center and the railway station.
Review 5:The considerable noise made by the extractor fan in the bathroom was tolerable. But the main problem was a continuous background mechanical humming from somewhere beyond the wall (heard through the closed bathroom door),over which we had no control at all - annoying, and made it difficult to get to sleep. At 11pm the front office was closed up when we sought help. Also,no radio signal reception on the TV, and only crackles from clock radio.
Review 6:Pleasant welcome and send off (offer to carry bags), and good dining room service
Review 7:Booked a room for four occupants and requested an extra bed to be put in the room. Receptionist stated that they were not fully booked and suggested we take another room without charge. Overall value for money. Friendly staff. Good breakfast.
Review 8:Our room wasn't cleaned, we suspect due to Chambermaid arriving too early as we were still in our room. However we expected her to return later when we had gone out
Review 9:Excellent location, easy to find, lovely 4 poster room. Excellent Guests handbook with lots of places to visit and eat out. Warm powerful shower. Very good Breakfast served by friendly staff
Review 10:Shared shower and lavetory not ideal in this current day. I think one bedroom could be scarificed to create ensuits for the remaining bedrooms
Review 11:Excellent location. Great Breakfast
Review 12:Squeaky bed! Also, I arrived around 10pm to find the staff about to leave despite check in being available until 12! Dread to think what would've happened if I were 10 minutes later...
Review 13:I stayed on the top floor and was pleasantly surprised to find a sink in the room which was great. Overall good value.
Review 14:Shower was a bit temperamental (water temperature fluctuating at random) and the bathroom was on a small side, but functional
Review 15:Good central but quiet location, friendly staff, good size room, comfortable beds, good wifi
Review 16:Bed very creaky
Review 17:Great breakfast options. Beautiful room and building. Good location for us as we needed to be walking distance from the Hospital and Train station. Really helpful guest book in room!
Review 18:The shower didn't drain great. Fairly expensive for a room with no en-suite but wasn't busy so using the shared bathroom wasn't an issue.
Review 19:The staff were extremely helpful and friendly! Breakfast was 5*, great choice and quality. Again staff were really helpful and friendly at breakfast which made our stay a great experience. We also had a pretty view from our window which was a nice extra.
Review 20:Well positioned in terms of location, room comfortable, would be ten out of ten if it had an en suite shower and lavvy, but what was on offer was fine, with no problems! Parking is o.k.
Review 21:nothing however had I been sharing the bed I think it may have been a little too small.
Review 22:Beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean, comfortable bed, good food
Review 23:Had a family room as its was a girly weekend, the room was very nice, spacious and clean. The staff were lovely and very helpful. Breakfast was very good. will be staying there again on another reunion.
Review 24:Shared shower, did feel a little like a Youth Hostel.
Review 25:Classic Guest House, room was clean and simple. If you want luxury prob not the place for you, but if you want clean and basic then this is the place.
Review 26:The rooms are dated, the bedding and curtains need updating - white linen would be more attractive than off white. There was a smell to the which I wasn't sure if it was the bedding or curtains . Given this is a leisure break breakfast from 7.30 to 9.00 is a little crazy
Review 27:The garden is lovely along with the en suite shower
Review 28:On a main road, so quite noisy, even though it was a weekend
Review 29:Nicely decorated, spacious, good facilities. As a self catering, it was great to have little things like dish washing liquid and a few other items, like milk available. That was great.
Review 30:A pity the weather was not better as we could have used the swimming pool if it had been heated.
Review 31:Very warm welcome and excellent family room with comfy clean beds and tea making facilities. Breakfast was lovely too and nothing was too much trouble by the staff. I even got a weather forecast from the gentleman on reception before we left.
Review 32:We stayed here for our wedding night on 28th August 2015. The hotel was perfect, the room was beautiful and immaculate and the staff could not do enough to help us. We will definitely be back for future anniversaries.
Review 33:Room was situated downstairs in the basement. There was only a small window which was overlooked from the hotel garden and with no aircon the room was too hot especially at night. The breakfast was the most disappointing part. One bacon, one sausage, one egg, half a tomato, 3 mushrooms and some beans served on a childs plate. Asked for toast and was shown where I could make my own after id already been served my breakfast. There was no resident bar or minibar in the room.
Review 34:Room was clean, good shower, comfy beds.
Review 35:My only issue was the spiral stairs as I have arthritis awaiting a hip replacement. I would ask for a lower ground floor room next time.
Review 36:Convenient location to the town. The staff were extremely friendly and courteous. Breakfast was extremely good.
Review 37:Beds were a little hard, as we're pillows. Shower room miniscule. Room was overly hot and stuffy, n reside table with drawers, red Poppy decor dated and not restful. Lack of breakfast cereals fir those if us who don't do cooked.
Review 38:It was different, it was not the usual homogensenised hotel offering. Friendly accommodating staff.
Review 39:The bed was uncomfortable and the window wouldn't close - which was not the best on a busy main road - but as it was so hot we couldn't really complain.
Review 40:The location was brilliant and the breakfast was just right. Lots to choose from and the cooked breakfast hit the spot.
Review 41:The staff were most friendly and exceedingly helpful - they answered all our needs. They went beyond our expectations in order to provide us with what was required in terms of facilities for the bride and bridesmaids, before a wedding nearby.
Review 42:Not a bad experience but I travelled with a family member who has mobility problems. There was a ramp up to the front door of the apartments but no lifts. However there was no ramp up to the reception area so it would be very difficult for many disabled people to register or checkout. A designated disabled parking space would also be useful.
Review 43:Helpful staff, although we arrived at a busy time so the poor girl was rushed off her feet.
Review 44:Four poster bed at £100 per night was too small. Also should provide light summer duvet we both boiled! Breakfast average. 1 bacon. 1 over cooked egg was definitely not free range.
Review 45:Great location
Review 46:The room was a bit on the small side, as you would expect from the price.
Review 47:The breakfast was good. The bed was comfortable. The pool was nice, and unexpected. Taunton has some lovely older buildings and a surprisingly good local museum.
Review 48:Excellent value and very good appartment. The two bedrooms were ideal for us with two small children and the living area was spacious, well designed and maintained. There was an unexpectedly lovely balcony looking out over a very nice garden and the pool area
Review 49:bedroom top floor smelt that someone had been sick in the room and the smell was lingering, no Wifi available in the room even though was told it was
Review 50:location
Review 51:Location was perfect for us in centre of Taunton. Close to restaurants for an evening meal. The room was spacious and well appointed. Wide range of breakfast food options.
Review 52:Plenty of stairs, not an issue for us but could prove a challenge to older guests
Review 53:Beautiful building, rooms very well appointed. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Review 54:Room was right at the top of the building, a loft conversion of some kind, very tight and steep staircase to get to the room and the only window was a roof window, the room was very warm and the roof window let in a lot of light when open
Review 55:Comfortable bed, very nice decor in the room, very good food, very friendly and helpful staff
Review 56:Traffic noise on the road outside does not mix well with warm summer nights when windows need to be open.
Review 57:Really comfortable room, location is good for centre of Taunton, traditional English hotel with very good standards
Review 58:Sound insulation of room. We could hear staff setting up breakfast equipment in the hall outside, which means they could probably hear us!
Review 59:Cleanliness of room and quiet location
Review 60:They do not do luches or dinners but excellent selection of eating places 5 minutes away. The owner provided coffee and teas in comfortable lounge as we wanted.
Review 61:Big old fashioned but welcoming house very close to town centre. Good service and excellent breakfast.and well modernised bathrooms and facilities
Review 62:The room was too small and without a shower and that is for the price of 60 pounds a night. The mattress was too soft. The staff wasn't available before nearly 8 o'clock on Sunday morning not even on the phone.
Review 63:It is a beautiful and spacious historic house. The staff is nice and the breakfast was luxurious. There was WiFi in
Review 64:I really was surprised by just how lovely this place was. I've stated in a number of places and this was much more like a luxury place but without the price. I loved it
Review 65:The grand old exterior and open interior of the building. The location is also good for accessing local restaurants and amenities. The manager was always very happy to help out with any queries I had too. And sharing a bathroom is fine (I never saw anyone else using it)!
Review 66:Have stayed many times without any cause for complaints
Review 67:Excellent location complete with on-site parking close to the town centre and the county cricket ground. A really friendly and pleasantly old-worldly place to stay complete with four-poster beds far removed from so many of today's run-of-the-mill establishments. Nice breakfast, too.
Review 68:Breakfast portions a bit small as they were pretty busy
Review 69:Usual building. Lots of staircases. Timber ceiling and large family room. Well located for the station and decent pub across the road Nice breakfast
Review 70:No suitable space for working on laptop in room. Due to late arrival hadn't realised (nor was made aware) that there was a lounge room I could have used.
Review 71:Main feature of room was four poster bed. Very comfortable room with good sized bathroom. Very interesting building with lots of historic original features.
Review 72:There were no facilities such as a bar or restuarant. The communal bathroom was dirty And as a disabled lady, no one to help with my bag. In fact it was rather like the Marie Celeste!
Review 73:It was dogfriendly
Review 74:Nothing not to like!
Review 75:They allowed us to take our dog, the room with en suite was excellent, the food was excellent, (a wide choice ) the staff were friendly & welcoming at breakfast, the location of the b&b was great as the town was very accessible for on foot & by car. The owner was also very friendly & welcoming.
Review 76:Just missing a residents bar for that nightcap.
Review 77:A good location within walking distance of local restaurants. My son particularly enjoyed the outdoor pool.
Review 78:Beds were hard. Bathroom wasn't as clean as I would like
Review 79:Had a room that could accomodate our family. Excellent breakfast and liked having a swimming pool.
Review 80:The breakfast. Took a long time to arrive. Poached eggs over cooked and bacon under cooked! Beans watery and the tomato under ripe. It was a full breakfast though.
Review 81:The family room was the best we've stayed in. The welcoming staff. The place was full of character. Very close to Taunton centre.
Review 82:cost - didn't think breakfast was that good for the cost
Review 83:warmth of room
Review 84:The location was great for the town. Very quiet during night. Staff were all very friendly. Breakfast could have been better
Review 85:It was a bit of hassle with paying, since hotel didn't know they are in charge of payment, at first, but it got sorted out
Review 86:nothing
Review 87:excellent value, staff pleasant, just close enough to town centre
Review 88:No Marmite for breakfast
Review 89:Ecellent staff
