Reviews for Ktima Karageorgou
Review 1:The location is optimal to explore the Deep Mani. It is a family run hotel and they obviously care about their customers in a non-intrusive way. We had booked Ktima Karageorgou for 3 nights but ended up staying 6.
Review 2:A very friendly and welcoming family run hotel in a beautiful location. The breakfast was fantastic, as was the home cooked food at the restaurant in the evening.
Review 3:Nothing!
Review 4:We loved everything about Ktima Karageorgou. The warm and friendly welcome we received on arrival set the tone for a stay that simply could not have been bettered. When it comes to making guests feel cared about and valued, nothing is too much trouble for the owners, their family and their staff. We found all the facilities to be excellent. Our room was large and beautifully decorated, with gloriously comfortable beds and a spacious bathroom supplied with lovely Korres toiletries. The buildings are traditional in style, set in very pretty gardens, and the pool is gorgeous (with a children's section for little ones). And the breakfast is out of this world: freshly made traditional Greek food, with fruit picked from the garden every morning. Ktima Karageorgou is easily the best place we have ever stayed in Greece. We really cannot recommend it highly enough.
Review 5:The WiFi was a frustrating 100Kbs and hardly fast enough for small emails. We couldn't even do our internet banking. Breakfast was Ok if you like cake for breakfast but really not up to our expected quality. The local restaurants only accept cash and all but one have identical menus.
Review 6:Very large and very comfortable apartment. The sofas were wonderful and the apartment was well laid out. Pool was very refreshing after a hot day out sight seeing. We hardly noticed that there were other guests and the whole place is very quiet. The area around Areopoli is worth visiting but you will need to drive the area to see the best places. The village of Areopoli is not a good example of some great places up and down the coast. The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable about the local area. Dinner was available at night but we didn't take advantage of this. The Mani region is worth exploring.
Review 7:I stayed at "Ktima Karagiorgos" with my family for three days.. Quite simply our stay at this hotel, has been one of our most memorable. The rooms were large, cozy, and in very good taste, the bed mattresses of 5 plus star quality, and the common areas just wonderful. We thought that nature surrounding the hotel was quite stunning, but most of all we were taken by the lovely family keeping the establishment going. Nota, providing for us with effortless grace, and the brightest of smiles, Thanasis, that mellow, and sweet man, reading our wishes before we even knew we had them, and their wonderful children, that were a joy to watch playing with our own. We were impressed with Manis' austere beauty, the brooding mountains, sandy coastlines, and psychedelic skies, changing with every passing hour, but we loved our hotel so much, that we found ourselves staying there far longer than was necessary, far longer than was warranted by our short stay. This is a wonderful hotel, which cannot be summed up by the excellent service, and amenities it provides. It is an enchanted little place, offering an unforgettable experience that is hard to put in words. We will definitely come back. We recommend it to everyone.
Review 8:There is nothing there to dislike!
Review 9:The grounds were lovely and with the accomodation a little walk out of town we felt we were in the countyside. Our basic room was large and well furnished, but for us the home made breakfast with various mouth watering courses was a highlight alongside the warm and friendly family that run Ktima Karageorgou. many thanks for a lovely stay..
Review 10:*We had bad luck with the weather during our stay in Areopolis at the end of October. It was cold with hard wind from the north. Due to this we could not warm up our room, in particular the bathroom. The central heating did not work yet and the airconditioning could not warm up the spacious room. *The signpost to the hotel.
Review 11:The welcoming, the spacious room, the view, the WiFi, the breakfast.
Review 12:It was a little hard to find. We had to call the hotel and have them pick us up because the street is not marked.
Review 13:A beautiful place and lovely staff made this place exceptional. A lot of work went into making the place feel cosy and welcoming. Staff were always very helpful with any problems and in giving tips for places to see.
Review 14:Nothing.
Review 15:The staff were wonderful - really friendly, helpful and welcoming. The children loved the pool and the dog and the food was great. Our split level apartment was very luxurious and comfortable. The location is great - easy walk into the town to eat, and perfect for exploring the deep Mani.
Review 16:The view of the mountains is spectacular. The rooms are beautiful and unique, the swimming pool is lovely and the gardens add a nice touch. Its really quiet which provides for a great nights sleep. The owners are friendly and always willing to assist.
Review 17:Great location only a short walk from lovely Areopoplis with its restaurants and cafes We had a lovely room with 2 verandas where we could sit The breakfasts were wonderful - lots of delicious things to try
Review 18:There was no WIFI in the rooms or common areas/pool apart from the breakfast area. If you need to stay connected during your stay for work or other reasons, then you will not be able to do so in the privacy of your room or if you want to watch your children play by the pool. The breakfast area is nice but not an ideal place for to get online - mosquitos around in the night time etc The shower head was worn and was like standing under needles. There is a lot of development in the village and whilst its walking distance to town, its not a very picturesque spot. In our experience of the area, it is overpriced for what you get compared to other hotels/guesthouses in the area.
Review 19:The owners/staff were absolutely lovely and were very helpful. The rooms are charming and cottage in style. The breakfast was nice.
Review 20:De wifi werkt alleen rond de receptie.
Review 21:If you are looking for something different from the standard hotel this is the place to be. Very very nice owners, and great tips for where to go.The hotel has been built and furnished with great taste and eye for detail. Tasty breakfast too, with local specialties and honest food. Great value for money, go there, you will not be disappointed!
Review 22:nothing !
Review 23:Located in a beautiful setting in Mani, at walking distance from Areopoli (400 m), with a nice swimming pool, never overcrowded, from the moment you arrive you feel like home. The owners provided us upon arrival with a map and explanations on beaches, towns, ... to visit. The breakfast was enormous: from salty to sweet, you have an everyday choice and on top of that they ask you if you would like something else like toast, eggs, yoghurt with fresh strawberries (from their garden). As breakfast is until noon, no worries of thinking having lunch soon ! Towels and linen is changed daily. We visited Gythio, Monemvassia, Mistras and the south of Mani which is incredibly impressing. We would surely return to Ktima Karageorgou !
Review 24:We all needed a short summer getaway and Mani is always an amazing option! This was the first time we stayed at Ktima Karageorgou, but I am sure there are many more stays to come! The owners are surprisingly kind and helpful, and customer service is exemplary. We highly recommend it!
Review 25:No signage or street sign so difficult to locate, it would have been helpful if booking.com offered a map of area when we booked.
Review 26:Beautiful room, personable, taught us Greek, breakfast included and wonderful, close walk to town, informed us about the area
Review 27:Very difficult to find it. WiFi was bad. Bathroom was very small.
Review 28:Room was very nice, spacious and clean. The owners are very nice and polite people. Their hospitality was great. We enjoy our stay and left relaxed.
Review 29:The local town (villas are outside of town a short distance) is not the prettiest, but we really did not sped much time there. This was just a launch point for other destinations.
Review 30:We had a wonderful stay here. The staff really were outstanding reaching out for the human contact throughout our stay. We felt like long lost family back in the old country. Could not be better. Facility is beautiful and very well kept up, also the food offered is fantastic. The biggest mistake we made was not having dinner here instead of the local fish restaurant on the water (a let down).
Review 31:GREATEST boutique hotel ATMOSPHERE in Areopolis As an American, I found Ktima boutique hotel the most charming, characteristic place in the Areopolis Region of Greece! A Fantastic atmosphere within a traditional stone village. The hotel itself is built with beautiful stone work in the guest rooms & the pathways among the gardens & pool. The rooms are magnificent! Nicely decorated, with unique arch design above the bed. FABULOUS SERVICE STAFF and delicious gourmet homemade food. SUPER CLEAN and "Spotless".. I LOVED the fresh fragrance sprayed in the room, makes me feel in heaven! Also, picking fresh strawberries from the hotel garden was an extra treat! The hotel is in a perfect location,3-5 minutes walking distance from downtown center full of cafes, tavernas and night life. The walk to the village center is very pleasant, enjoyed passing by the horses, greeting me in the morning. The Ktima hotel location is also within 5 minutes’ drive to tavernas by the beach in Limeni & Oitylo area. I must say; Areopolis has it all; Origins of Greek people; hospitality, loyalty, and love among the beauty of a traditional village. All Americans must visit this place. An unforgettable lifetime experience!!
Review 32:None.
Review 33:Nice location. Near town but seemed further away. Clean, nice staff, comfortable bed. Great breakfast.
Review 34:I would like more selection in breakfast besides pastries and sweat-pies
Review 35:Everything was luxurious, peaceful clean and next to the best places of Mani
Review 36:Everything. Quiet and relaxed atmosphere. Surpassed all expectations.
Review 37:We liked the space we had in the room and the very warm welcome of the family.
Review 38:The lovely traditional rooms, the beautiful swimming pool, great food and very helpful staff. The family feel.
Review 39:Friendly owner and his family, traditional villa, sunset from the room, good home-made breakfast. Town centre is within 7-10 min walk.
Review 40:looks very untreated
Review 41:amazing complex very lovely staff
Review 42:All the facility's was excellent and we felt something from an other edge... Decently recommend & we come back
Review 43:Many essentials were lacking from the room. Bed was hard and breakfast room too small, narrow and with no sunlight
Review 44:Room decoration, location
Review 45:Hotel manager, room, breakfast
Review 46:Nothing
Review 47:Great place all round and really friendly staff. Only a very safe 5 minute walk to the tavernas and bars of Areopoli.
Review 48:Everything! The room was spacious and very comfortable; the pool was lovely and the breakfasts and dinners were delicious.
Review 49:nothing to claim
Review 50:location hospitality breakfast owner and his family
Review 51:Location. It is situated on what feels like an out of town building site, with plenty of new buildings going up in the area.
Review 52:Well built new resort type hotel with very large apartment, handy for exploring the town and local area, so a good base. Characterful property, good pool and friendly staff, but nevertheless newly built.
Review 53:The only thing I didn't like was that I couldn't stay longer.
Review 54:My stay was absolutely fantastic! From the minute I arrived until the moment I departed everything was of a very high standard. The room was impeccably clean, the hosts were warm and welcoming, the views to die for!
Review 55:From the moment of my arrival and until my departure ,I felt that I am home with the warm feelings of the owners whom they know that holidays are important for each person and they try to make it unique for you. The room was large and very well decorated , especially the very good mattress of the bed. The landscape of the hotel was amazing, you feel like you are in a castle. And i can not avoid mentioning the very good lamb that I ate, it was cooked in a traditional way in the wooden oven. At last , believe me if you eat breakfast , no need to eat Luncn....many delicious variety mostly home traditional made... You will never regret going there...
Review 56:A wonderful experience with hosts being most polite and professional. It was great to find English speaking management with Greek hospitality . Rooms were tastefully decorated and very comfortable and clean. The pool was put to good use to unwind and the weather was just perfect. It almost felt like home away from home with these absolutely faultless hosts and accomodation. I would most definitely visit again and highly recommend it to other travellers and even locals to Greece.
Review 57:I found that Ktima Karageorgeou was a perfect place to spend a few day away to escape the hustle and bustle of the city life. The owners Thanasi and Nota together with their children were extremely welcoming and hospitable. It was like turning back time but with all modern amenities. I would highly recommend it to anyone travelling through Mani.
Review 58:nothing
Review 59:We loved our stay and wished we had stayed longer. The owner Notta was lovely and nothing was too much for her. The design of the hotel was like being in an old tower. It was huge and comfortable. Breakfast was all home cooking.
Review 60:Very romantic location outside of the touristic track. The rooms are stunning and the family that keeps this newly and beautifuly decorated hotel amazing. In all this is a very romantic location that can still accomodate children. The area of aeropolis is worth the detour and an oasis of frshness.
Review 61:Directions a bit vague, but et the bus station they knew where todirect us.
Review 62:Very nice rooms, swimming pool and friendly ambiance. Good location forthe Dioros caves and other things to see. We will definitely come back.
Review 63:This is a fabulous hotel. The outside of the buildings, gardens and swimming pool are lovely and well looked after. The views from the room terraces to the mountains and down to the sea are stunning. As I visited during a quiet period I was automatically upgraded to a suite which was beautifully decorated and comfortable with luxurious touches The breakfast area looked out onto the gardens and the breakfast was great with many traditional greek dishes on offer. Nota, the owner, was friendly and hospitable, advising about the area and organising taxis and checking bus times. One of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. Areopolis is a great place to spend a few days. A charming small town with traditional buildings and good restaurants and cafe bars
Review 64:Far too much unfinished work to justify the price. It could be a jewel but seems they ran out of money to finish the landscaping and detail work.
Review 65:Family run and operated.
Review 66:We are a British couple who live in Greece, but we wanted a specialnight away for Valentine's night. I know the town of Areopolis welland love it, so I wanted a very romatic hotel in or near the town. Ichose this hotel based on other good reviews and I was not disappointed. The suite we stayed in was fantastic, and I think we were upgraded forfree from the one I booked. It was spacious, clean, and very romantic. The hostess 'Nota' had lit the log fire and turned the aircon onto full before we arrived so the room was extremely warm which was sowelcome on a cold February day! When we checked out the bedroom we weredelighted to find rose petals scattered on the duvet, and some chilledwine and two glasses artfully laid out for us. The whole scene was setfor relaxation and romance. I had expressed a wish on booking to use thehottub at any time and hoped there would be hot water. Again, the hoteldidn't disappoint, and there was plentiful piping hot water, morethan enough to fill a large two person jacuzzi. Talking of which, I havenever before had a soak in something with bubbles, coloured underwaterlights and integrated music!! Very special! Breakfast was served at avery convenient 8:30 until 12:00, so no morning rush. The food wasextremely plentiful, and a mixture of savoury and sweet home cookedpastries, cakes, local cheeses, cold cuts, and eggs if you wished. Therewas so much food the table was groaning! I can say that this hotelexceeded my expectations in every respect, and in our opinion was thebest experience that we have had in this type of hotel, in this area andprice range, and we have stayed in a few of these ' luxury'hotels for comparison. We hope to go there again and stay in the summerwhen we could relax by the pool and once again enjoy the wonderfulhospitality of Nota and her family. Thanks for making ourValentine's night so memorable!!
Review 67:A bit of a walk to the centre of town(less than 10 minutes). Easy onceyou get directions.
Review 68:Beautiful rooms, spacious and lovely decorations. Breakfast was great.
Review 69:The hotel has to be the best boutique B&B in Areopolis, not least because it has a lovely pool and the huge room had a spa bath, a large terrace balcony, and was beautifully decorated. The owners do their best to make you feel like its your home from home. This was my second visit to the town, and one which I have been wanting to do for 16 years. Areopolis has changed a lot since then but there is still lots of the old charm and character remaining. The hotel is about 500m from the centre, a nice and safe evening stroll. We would be delighted to go back, and we will try not to wait 16 years to do it.
Review 70:Don't be put off by the approach to the hotel which is down a rough little road behind the Areopolis bus station - Ktima Karageorgou is a real gem and we loved every moment of our stay (4 nights). It is a number of traditonal-stlye stone buildings around a large courtyard with a swimming pool in the middle (essential as the temps got up to 40 degrees each day). Our room was comfortable with two little terraces and Ktima was a great base from which to explore this harsh but fascinating area. The best thing about the hotel was our host Nota and her gracious family. Breakfast was abundant and delicious and on two nights (on request) Nota cooked us dinner served under a pergola near the pool - the slow cooked lamb (3 hours in a wood-fired oven) was probably the best meal of our 3 weeks in Greece.
Review 71:We couldn't use the pool, but this is only because they are currently improving it.
Review 72:The owners were some of the friendliest, nicest people I've ever met. There is a library with books about Mani, as well as maps, that visitors are free to use or even take with them. Their breakfast was home-made, with local delicacies, simply great. We picked the suite, which was lovely. Beautiful furniture and a huge, comfortable bed, with the hot tub right next to it. The hotel is perfect for couples, as well as families.
Review 73:Excellent and very warm service by both Thanasis and Anni.
Review 74:nothing!!
