Reviews for Anand Lodge
Review 1:Exiting from parking area is a night mare. Massive bush blocks your view of the road. It's easier to exit at night due to the fact you can see bright lights.
Review 2:It's quiet!
Review 3:Dirty room !! No heating when complained the receptionist was very rude ! Asked for money back I was told no arrived at 7pm and was checked into another B&b by 10 wouldn't let my worst enemy stay here steer well clear
Review 4:There is nothing about this place that you could like !!!
Review 5:Staff was never around not very helpful. Could not find a taxi. When I asked for help a woman gave me the number for a company 40 miles away that could not give me a ride. I called some companies on my own, could not find a ride. I had to walk 3 miles to the train station carrying my suitcase cause I couldn't get a taxi
Review 6:Nice clean room.
Review 7:The shower and toilet were built in the bedroom cupboard which still had its original mirror sliding doors. Drill holes in headboard tears in bed sheets no hot water from shower and they lie and say their is a security night guard which doesn't exist. Should NOT be offering rooms at all. Oh and they charge you £2 a night to park on the unsecured drive way and will try to get more out of you if they can. I am a third year degree student and I work in security, this place is a joke don't stay here for any reason.
Review 8:When we got shown to our family room there was only enough towels for one person to use. When I asked for some eating utensils I was told they could not be provided but would be sold to me for and extra charge. Paid £5 for a continental breakfast then there was no toaster or kettle put out as we were told there would be.
Review 9:The hotel was in an ideal location just 5 minutes away from the family I was visiting.
Review 10:Had the room down stairs saw the light all night through the widow from the car park would have bein better if had darker curtains in they
Review 11:The walk in bathroom and was given a down stairs room when asked for a room great
Review 12:Window didnt close properly so draughty and cold. Obviously and old ongoing problem as lots of tissue stuck in gap to try to seal it. Bathroom sliding doors didnt close roperly and hung off glides. A real mix and match of linen and decor. Very noisy. Can hear anyone coming and going.Very dated
Review 13:Very nice, warm welcome.
Review 14:For a family room we got two single beds pushed together. Paid for parking but there weren't enough spaces to had to park out on the street.
Review 15:Cheap and easy. Decent location. Easy to find.
Review 16:The property is very tired, chipped paint, broken blind and cheap bedding. They are obviously in the process of doing some upgrades, but the drive isn't finished and there are building materials lying on one side.
Review 17:The lady who checked me in was very helpful and let me borrow a hair dryer that I had forgotton The bathroom in my room was pretty modern an clean
Review 18:No curtain in bathroom- clear glass for neighbour across road to getfull view of you in shower. No lampshade. Tv remote- batteries deadHandle on bathroom - screws were hanging out l so if you shut door, handle would have come off. Curtain rail was about to fall down. Curtainhad large paint sprodge on it breakfast- continental she said - what sheshould have said was cereals and toast and fruit juice was box with astraw. 3 people boked for breakfast-table set for 3 hahaha only 2chairs..lolBUT WAS CLEAN and I learnt you pay for what you get and you don't get curtains etc at that price
Review 19:Was clean
Review 20:The place is vile, disgustingly dirty I wouldn't even let my dog sleep in there. Asked for a double bed.. They pushed 2 singles together... The floor, walls, ceiling and windows were so mouldy I'm surprised they stayed up. Vile... Absolutely disgusting!!!!!!! Wayyyyyy over priced. Shouldn't even be 1 star....
Review 21:Nothing. There was a not a single thing at the accommodation that could possibly be liked.
Review 22:The room was filthy - dirty and chipped walls, peeling wallpaper, dirtybathroom floor and fittings. There were stains and holes in our beddingand the mattress was composed entirely of springs! The place was noisy -I could hear every word the people in the next room said and heavy doorscontinued to bang through the night. The most uncomfortable night of mylife, I was in tears! Absolutely appalling considering the price we paid- I demanded a refund.
Review 23:Nothing
Review 24:The sink was out of order. Lightbulbs were missing. The carpet was badly stained. Only very light bed covers. Long way from centre of Tunbridge Wells. Very annoying charge for parking car. I hate unexpected add-ons
Review 25:The adjacent bathroom was fine, clean with bath and shower.
Review 26:The place is disgustingly filthy. The TV did not work, the kettle did not work and there was no option of breakfast (although you wouldn't want to eat at this place anyway)
Review 27:There was absolutely nothing to like.
Review 28:Everything was wrong in this hotel, the beddings were dirty, my children were itching, the environment wasn't welcoming at all, waste of money and time it is.
Review 29:Anand lodge was such an horrible place and disaster, cobwebs everywhere, the service was extremely poor,we couldn't have our bath, it was dirty from the beginning to end,my children couldn't sleep , it was my worst nightmare. Absolutely a rubbish place.
Review 30:They charge you extra for parking and this is not advertised onbooking.com Also they force you to write down your credit card detailsand 3 digit number on a piece of paper. Let's hope it will getshredded, not acceptable!
Review 31:We were attending a music festival, so really we were after a clean bedand a shower. Anything to escape the festival's campsite and smellytoilets! This B&B did just the job.
Review 32:Arrived at facility that is being refurbished. No ensuite only a tiny shower and sink in a Small room and shared toilet even though description said ensuite fa cities. On arrival there were dirty towels in hall way, little or no toilet paper, the remote for TV had corroded batteries the place was unsatisfactory and over priced. We would have gone elsewhere if we would have not lost our deposit
Review 33:Not much
Review 34:room wasnt ready, very old and shabby looking no staff at reception garden was full of furniture and fixingings untidy cheap dated decor bathroom was shooking dribbling shower
Review 35:good location had a car park
Review 36:The breakfast was very poor and the fact that we had to pay for parking was a money grab. Also the place was a mess due to building work.
Review 37:The owner Pamela was very helpful and polite.
Review 38:Reception is in a kitchen which is still being built. Pulled up onto drive to park but couldn't as the drive is being laid. Big skip outside front door with loads of rubbish. If renovation works were taking place I think the hotel should have informed us. Rooms in desperate need of updating and redecoration. Did not like the fact you needed a long combination code for toilet or room so if you forgot that slip of paper in the middle of the night you either wouldn't be able to use the facilities or might even get stuck and not be able to get back in your room - would I stay there again "no" would I recommend "no".
Review 39:Not a lot
Review 40:Not very clean, communal facilities when I was told it was private. The whole property is slowly being renovated.
Review 41:The TV and free view. The size of the coffee mug!
Review 42:Every thing from the time we booked in until we left light bulbs not working people trying to break into room while we were in it appears more like a drop in centre for the homeless people drinking tins of tenants extra out side car park a mess total experience a disaster
Review 43:Nothing at all
Review 44:Staff invisible, door phone entry only verbal contact, no reception. Room small with no warbrobe space, in fact no wardrobe just a hook on wall for clothes.
Review 45:Bed comfortable and clean and price
Review 46:We were greeted by empty reception, we waited but in ten minutes we have decided to call someone using the number on the website. On the second day we run out of toilet paper, but there was no one to help as out, there was no extra supplies. "Kitchen" was so dirty that we were happy that we have decided to not to add breakfast to our reservation.
Review 47:Room was big with comfortable beds
Review 48:everything else. the lodge is tatty and needs some work but that wasn't a major issue as long as its priced cheap. The biggest issue was the room stank of smoke which was disgusting. I'm not a fussy person but it was unbearable, horrid! i awoke at 6am and left immediately so i could get fresh air, my throat was horrible all day. this isn't just a person smoking, this is 30 a fags a day in that room for the last year - it has to be sorted. i would like my money back please
Review 49:lovely host who welcomed me, very friendly and accommodating its a shame
Review 50:I didn't like that I could hear the person next door munching on some crisps or the people upstairs walking around. I could hear absolutely everything in this place and every time someone entered the building they would slam the door with a bang and cause my walls to shake. The whole stay was the complete opposite of enjoyable with an extremely uncomfortable springy bed, disgusting shower(!!!!!!) and complete lack of customer service. Worst week and total waste of money! Please only stay here if you really have to and not longer than a single night!
Review 51:I liked the free wifi.
Review 52:Pamela offered a very friendly welcome also very polite andhelpful.thank you very much for all your help.. JEANNETTE&JOHN SOUTHAMPTON
Review 53:En-suite room was not en-suite, loo down the corridor. Bed not very comfortable Shower water cold
Review 54:Location Excellent value Friendly welcome Easy free parking
Review 55:The place is filthy. It was cold. The wifi would not connect. Bath towel minute. Polyester sheets on the bed. Breakfast is a diy affair and having looked in the fridge I passed. Fridge is full of open packs of someone else's food. Ugh.
Review 56:The shower was quite clean
Review 57:Me a young couple who was there for 5 days and never saw a member of staff. So no welcome, almost felt as if we were intruding into some unknown place, very weird.
Review 58:Bed was comfortable
Review 59:Where to start. Car park is a mud track lined with rubbish bins Reception is like change kiosk in arcade No proper kitchen for breakfast. No cooked breakfast Was like a 1970's doss house complete with original deco, bed and furniture Paint peeling away. Very uncomfortable bed Sorry but this is not a proper guest house
Review 60:lots of heaters in room
Review 61:If I could, I would have rated this place zero. I got in and felt so unsafe that I walked out without staying. I'm a female solo traveller and was greeted by a man who absolutely reeked of booze and cigarettes. He gave me a code for the door(no key) and kept repeatedly asking if I was alone. No one else was in site and the front door was unlocked, anyone could have walked in. I'm lucky I had the option to go stay with family. The place itself is a dump. Like a building site and stinks. Booking.Com needs to remove it from their website, it is a hazard!
Review 62:NOTHING
Review 63:Not a real hotel, more of a scruffy hostel. The reception / breakfast area is shocking - just some back room with a little table in - really scruffy. Junk chucked in the garden. The bathroom was cobbled together with any old tat. Would not feel safe as a single woman in this hotel. Only one member of staff (who was friendly), and basically unmanned with strange people hanging around.
Review 64:The 1 (yes only 1!!) member of staff for the hotel was friendly
Review 65:Bed wasn't the most comfortable in the world - it was two beds pushed together. A bit scruffy both outside and inside.
Review 66:Booked this last minute and given the very cheap price (£25) I wasn't expecting much. However, it was a clean and tidy room with nice furnishing. Good modern shower and good TV. Your interaction with staff is primarily through a buzzer intercom system, however this was quick and the lady was very helpful. It is located in the quiet village of Pembury, which is just outside Tunbridge Wells. I was attending a wedding in the centre of town and it wasn't too difficult to get a taxi to/from the centre. Overall, better than I was expecting and given the price, a very reasonable place.
Review 67:Bed was really uncomfortable, shower curtain mouldy, door not even painted and broken and generally felt unclean didn't even stay for breakfast !!
Review 68:Location
Review 69:Taps hanging off, room too small, room wreaked of damp, Bedding was dirty and damp, Holes in the floor, the receptionist lived behind the kitchen, dirty shoes that really smelt in there, Shower didn't work, Plug sockets hanging off the walls. Need I say anymore!!! Disgusting!!!
Review 70:Nothing!
Review 71:The room was dirty. The shared bathroom had used mugs, razor and a toothbrush in. The bath and toilet were not clean.
Review 72:The lady who greeted us was friendly but she told us that we were checking in early (even though we were not).
Review 73:The accommodation provided by this guest house is the worst I have ever experienced. The beds in the 2 rooms that were supplied over our stay were a disgrace and left me with backache and discomfort for days after our visit. The towels supplied were only fit for rags worn-out and badly laundered. Only use this Guest House if as a last resort it is truly poor.
Review 74:The apology offered when we checked out.
Review 75:The location was 3 miles outside Royal Tunbridge Wells and this was not made clear on the booking form. My bicycle had to be stored outside with easy access from the front of the property. Rooms and their furniture were of poor quality.
Review 76:The bed sheets were not clean and the pillowcase smelled of cigaret smoke. No reception only telephone contact and codes given for the room were incorrect, until lots of telephone calls We paid for breakfast, but it did not appear, although money taken for it. This is a rip off and disgusting.Should not be advertised until a check up made.
Review 77:Shower hard to work. No hot water for a long time. Breakfast was set for only one of us so we had to share the utensils!
Review 78:Comfortable room. Good pub nearby for dinner
Review 79:Booking has given us a VERY BAD surprise . it seems obvious that you do not know the accomodation where you offer reservation. As the hotel has the garantee to charge us, the consumer has no power to defend himself. difficult to find the address (you do not note the number of the street )
Review 80:Under refurbishment - half done! Amateurish refurbishment and management. Helped ourselves to breakfast in the kitchen! Should not be on the Booking .com site.
Review 81:- Owner was not there, did everything by intercom. - Toilet in room was blocked, would not flush. - Shower in Bedroom, not in bathroom. - Very low level of breakfast food.
Review 82:At £40 a night, nothing to complain about
Review 83:Room cost £40 a night which is very good value if you just want to rest your head over night. Clean with good bathroom
Review 84:The carpet was filthy; their card machine wasn't working so we had to go to get cash; dirty pillowcase;
Review 85:Coffee + tea making facilities; free parking;
Review 86:The Lodge seems to be managed from a remote location. When I arrived I wanted to enquire if there was a shed for our bicycles. found a phone number to use and the lady who answered said we would have to chain the bicycles to a tree, 'at our own risk'. Later in the conversation she insisted on working this phrase in unnecessarily. The next morning no one was about to provide the breakfast we paid for-- on the phone the same lady said there would be no breakfast that day. No one has since replied to our email asking restitution for the breakfast. Stay at the Anand 'at your own risk.'
Review 87:The drive way was not good on car suspension, Staff member knocked on our door at 9am to tell us we had to check out early, Bed was very uncomfortable had a bad bad for the rest of the day.And I feel this was overpriced compared to other places I have stayed at!!
Review 88:Everything, shouldnt even be an accommodation place. Stayed three nights havent seen the owners yet. Even when booking in NO ONE to meet and greet us, all done by phone. First room shown, rubbish in bin and used towel on the bathroom floor, rang and was told another room to go to . This was a bit better, i suggest that the plumbing been seen to, in the shower i had to turn the shower off let the water drain away, then turn the shower on again. I feel they need to clean up their act, be involved with their customers. Harry from exmouth uk are you sure you were at anand lodge. Owners you could do so much to this place .
Review 89:Absolutely nothing, i wouldnt even recommend it to my worst enemy
Review 90:The room smelled of urine. The duvet cover was shabby. Contact with staff is by phone no one greets you on arrival. coffee and tea not replenished on second day.
Review 91:Free Wi Fi Good TV reception On suite was modern
Review 92:Yes, the Anand Lodge is scruffy around the edges. The first impression of overflowing recycling bins in the car parking area is not a good one. The check in system is unusual - yes, you do this by calling through on a phone intercom system. That said, I had no problems with it and having emailed previously to say I would be a late check in there was no difficulty with this. Small things could improve first impressions of the Anand Lodge. Smokers use the area immediately outside the front door and yet there is no ashtray or bin for butts, meaning that they are obviously littered around the area - a poor first impression for anyone arriving in daylight. Breakfast is self service which is not a problem (I've stayed in many motels/hotels in the US where this is common) and the breakfast area is tiny. I was a single traveller and the breakfast area was not being used by anyone else when I was there but I can imagine this being a big problem for some people.
Review 93:The plus side of this hotel is it's value for money in an area where hotel rooms are hard to come by and generally overpriced in my opinion. A clean, double room with ensuite shower/loo, tea & coffee making facilities with ample supplies, TV, windows that open for when it's hot and all for a bargain price. I can only speak for the room I had, and other rooms may not match this, but if the condition and servicing of my room is their standard, then its damned good for the price. Breakfast may be basic - cereal, porridge, toast are pretty much the only options - but for £5? Again, I consider that value for money in today's world. The staff were friendly and helpful. Finding a hotel or B & B in the Tunbridge Wells area (particularly in high season) for under £75 is nigh on impossible and the Anand Lodge fills a very big gap in the market. On a previous trip to Tunbridge Wells I stayed in a town centre hotel where I paid more than double the price and quite frankly, although the public areas of that hotel were far more luxurious, the room I was allocated was no better, possibly worse. The hotel is located in Pembury High Street and is only a few minutes walk from the bus stop where you can get a bus into Tunbridge Wells. Staff at the hotel also offered to arrange to drive me into town if needed - helpful.
Review 94:No staff. only ever spoke to someone on an intercom. Self service breakfast in a dingy kitchen make your own toast? Towel in room was soaking wet. I could go on but not going to waste any more time with this place, will never stop there again!
Review 95:Sensor light in bathroom way to sensitive. Even when you turn in the bed it goes off. Shower also has no strength as it doesn't use the full nozzle only half. Mirror on shelf very wobbly. Need a fixed one bigger inside door.
Review 96:Location bedroom. Fan provided which was quite sweet.
Review 97:Signs are hidden very difficult to find Intercom system to get into the property and then again at reception not friendly at all Rooms barely finished Paint missing ect Bedding and towels didn't seem clean Paid for breakfast none provided or no information about breakfast - would like a refund Parking available appalling Over all very disappointing didn't feel safe or wanted WOULD NOT RECCOMMEND THIS PLACE STAY AS FAR AWAY AS POSSIBLE
Review 98:Close to interview
Review 99:I am surprised you advertise this property it is no more than a benefit property.there is no one to greet you all you do is communicate by intercom.the room was disgraceful.we had mugs to drink out of no spoons just wooden sticks that had been used before.the bed linen had not seen a washing machine or iron for weeks.the so called continental breakfast was help yourself to what was in the fridge.the front door was left open all night and day so anybody could have walked in when they liked.we had a so called code on our door which I don't think would have been changed for ages.the so called car park was a disgrace so I parked a brand new car down the road which I thought was safe than in a back yard that looked like a scrap yard.my partner had been bitten by bed bugs when she woke in the morning after sleeping in her dressing gown on top of the bed she refused to get in it.why you entertain this property on your books I don't know.do you read these reviews obviously not to keep this dump on your website.
