Reviews for Heywood Spa Hotel
Review 1:Excellent food with the New Year Gala. One of the best meals we have ever had. 4 poster bed , very comfortable bed. Tea and coffee. Fab bathroom and white towels. Staff were all friendly. Breakfast the quality of the food was superb. It would have been nice to have some entertainment or music as it was New Year's Eve. Would go back again for another visit.
Review 2:Bedside lockers hadn't been cleaned. The Jacuzzi didn't work but wasn't that fussed in using it so didn't complain. I'm sure if we mentioned it they would have made it right ,it was that sort of place. We will definitely use it them again
Review 3:The staff where very good and polite always asking if everything was ok ..Also the food was excellent.
Review 4:The room decor was quite dated; I think the refurbishment needs to extend to the room! Inside the cupboard there was a lot of dirt and the breakfast left a lot to desired: dry toast, poor quality of food on the continental buffet. The price for the quality of room and area is too much. I think 90 would have been more fitting.
Review 5:The restaurant and spa faculties have recently been refurbished and are really nice. The staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. The bed was really comfy, and the pool, whilst small, was a good addition. The hotel is close to Tenby (about 15 minute walk).
Review 6:The breakfast was very poor for the price we paid .The bread was mouldy . . curtains in my room was very dirty with food stains on them. Spa facilities was closed . The receptionist just told me they were fully booked but wasn't true as there is no one in the spa
Review 7:The room was very comfortable .
Review 8:Lovely bar area but not if you want a sociable evening.
Review 9:Staff were amazingly friendly and very helpful! Facilities were really enjoyable and it is a beautiful place.
Review 10:We had a fantastic stay. Staff were helpful and friendly. We enjoyed using the spa facilities, which were spotlessly clean. We would definitely recommend and intend to return.
Review 11:Attention to detail lacking which we have raised with hotel management direct. Just because it's off season standards should not drop.
Review 12:Location, ample parking, decor.
Review 13:Bed was made up of two single mattresses pushed together! Evening meal, wasn't up to the standard it should have been for the price we were being charged.
Review 14:Staff very helpful, good facilities. Very clean and was overall a lovely place to stay, which I would return to.
Review 15:Very basic gym. Old equipment of which quite a few bits of equipment didn't work. A token gesture of 5 dumbbells (1x12kg, 2x3kg and 2x1kg), not very useful
Review 16:Great staff, pool and food
Review 17:It is a bit further than town than we expected which would be fine in summer but a bit of a walk in November cold. Our only complaint really which the owners can deal with easily is that the bar, restaurant and lounge were really cold. I mentioned it to our waiter when we were going in for dinner. This would discourage me from returning as it is nice to sit and have a drink before dinner and also to be warm enough while eating especially as the dinner and breakfasts were very good
Review 18:The hotel was lovely. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable. We had dinner one evening - the food was very good and nicely presented. We also had massages which were good and the therapist was very personable and friendly
Review 19:The only minor point is that perhaps checking the soap and shampoo in the gents' changing rooms daily would be a good idea
Review 20:Superb restaurant, very friendly staff, good facilities
Review 21:The fact there was no anti-slip mat in the bath causing me to slip while getting out of the bath giving me a very black eye, possible concussion and dreadful bruising all along my thigh completely ruining my trip!.
Review 22:The restaurant was superb and the staff very pleasant.
Review 23:Would have been nice to have breakfast included in the price, bar understaffed in the afternoon.
Review 24:Spa facilities, clean and comfortable room, friendly staff
Review 25:Awful staff, tried to rip me off but jokes on them as my overpayment is being disputed and reversed thanks to an extremely helpful MasterCard team.
Review 26:Nothing
Review 27:There was nothing I could say I didn't like. Nothing was too much trouble. We know there is a new owner who is still upgrading the rooms. Our bedroom was very modern and tastefully decorated, but the bathroom is still waiting the upgrade. The shower was definitely in need of an upgrade.
Review 28:I found the staff to be very friendly especially the man on switchboard who was very helpful before and during our stay. Thank you. The food was all very well presented and tasted good - especially the sticky toffee pudding!
Review 29:Excellent hotel with fantastic facilities. The breakfast was delicious with a big selection so something for everyone. Great location taxi only a couple of pounds into town. Friendly staff we will book again very relaxing break
Review 30:As it was a good 10 minute walk to the nearest shop, which was infact a garage, the only option was to buy drinks from the bar. Two glasses of squash came to £2.40 and it was £1 for a small multipack packet of crisps. Also, the food in the evening was tasteless and the meat was undercooked, causing illness. I would not recommend eating in the restaurant.
Review 31:Loved the spa!
Review 32:Evening meal was average but expensive, pool had a scum around the edge, the person taking the temp of the pool was rude to my partner and we didn't have a good TV reception
Review 33:Breakfast was good, reception were polite, good decor down stairs and location
Review 34:Walk into Tenby was further than the 5 minutes advertised and would not be possible for the less mobile.
Review 35:The bar staff were very helpful and friendly. Pool and Jacuzzi to ourselves when we visited. Food in the restaurant was excellent on both nights of our stay.
Review 36:The hotel is conveniently located and has good parking and leisure facilities. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our breakfasts and evening meal were both tasty and well presented. Certainly worth another visit when we are in the area again.
Review 37:Comparing with the previous owners ,the quality of the evening meals did not come up to scratch. In some cases dry and others tasteless.
Review 38:Location . Comfort and pleasant staff.
Review 39:We were in a room situated next to reception. The noise carries and this resulted in poor sleep (especially with people talking at reception at 6.30am). Very small bath in room.
Review 40:Spacious, light room.Easy walk into Tenby town centre.
Review 41:We didn't have a bad experience however the prices of the hotel are a bit high for what you get. Our room- executive room- two single beds pushed together. Spot light which hung down from the fitting, Basic bath and overall a basic room, which was clean and tidy but not worth the price. It was a lovely break but I wouldn't go back
Review 42:I felt the hotel was located in a friendly and safe place and it was only a short drive to the town. You could walk if you wanted too. It was nice to have a bar on site and restaurant. The leisure facilities were okay. It was a nice stay for two nights.
Review 43:It would have been nice to have a vegetarian option for breakfast on the menu but when we enquired they were more than happy to make one.
Review 44:Staff are very pleasant and helpful.
Review 45:Nothing whatsoever!
Review 46:All the food was great, generous portions and all cooked to perfection. If you have the taste, I would seriously recommend the mussels for a starter. I had the mussels in white wine – they were the best mussels I have ever tasted and I made my compliments to the chef accordingly
Review 47:The breakfast in the morning was very poor. We all had the full English breakfast, which was not the standard that we expected ( the sausages we hard and seemed like they had been cooked the day before).
Review 48:The room was quite spacious, and the décor of the hotel was very nice, as were the staff.
Review 49:The sauna was difficult to regulate and some of the gym equipment wasn't working. The cups were stuck in the cold water dispenser so you couldn't get a drink.
Review 50:Reception staff were very helpful and pleasant. The hotel generally was very nice and we had a comfortable room.
Review 51:Nothing bad to say. Little areas need a touch of paint but there was a decorator there when we stayed so thatmight be being addressed.
Review 52:Staff were lovely. Room had a great sunny balcony. Meal was good.
Review 53:long waits in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast, and when I alerted a staff member that we had waited for 45 minutes between ordering and receiving breakfast, I received an unhelpful response.
Review 54:lovely hotel, very close to tenby beach and shops, friendly and extremely helpful reception staff, pool and spa were great, would definitely recommend.
Review 55:The rooms were not very clean there was body hair in bathroom and there was dust all around the skirtin boards in bedroom at the back of beds and also in corners of bathroom terrace could also of been cleaner and the garden grounds were very u maintained quite scruffy to look out at as this was not a cheap hotel!
Review 56:The breakfast was of good quality.
Review 57:on one day the room was not cleaned fully eg refuse bin was not emptied the tv was advised as with Freeview but not all channels were present
Review 58:the staff were helpful and keen to go the extra mile a booking error by me was quickly resolved and a safety mat for the bath /shower was provided without extra charge
Review 59:The rooms were little cold. Turned up heating using remote but didn't change. Wouldn't be good in winter.
Review 60:The leisure facilities and fact in was just 10 min walk from tenby town
Review 61:the heywood spa is a friendly clean hotel, very nice rooms with access to balcony, or patio area, with good parking, and a short walk to Tenby town center
Review 62:rooms were hot could have done with air con ,but a fan was supplied which help cool the room
Review 63:There was a very good restaraunt plenty of choice and breakfast was exellent
Review 64:The staff were really friendly, helpful and welcoming. The food was excellent, but some things were unavailable....probably because Tenby had hosted the Iron Man this weekend, and everywhere had been busy, but what we actually ate was excellent. The room was spacious and had everything that we required.
Review 65:Bit disappointed the four posted bed didn't have curtains. When filling the jacuzzi in the room the hot water seemed to run out. On our first morning for breakfast we had half a mushroom, on the second we had a whole one.
Review 66:Lovely pool area, very friendly staff, nice room, majority of the food very good.
Review 67:The rooms were tired and in need of a refurbishment and this made it overpriced.
Review 68:The reception, bar, and lounge areas were lovely and the staff were really friendly.
Review 69:Only criticism would be small finishing touches for quality of hotel e.g no tissues in room & bathroom in need of a little TLC - large space but cracked bath panel, bracket cover missing on mirror, fixings sticking out from wall where possibly a shelf had been, no real storage other than a very small cheap looking 3 tier basket unit on wheels & if you wear glasses, like myself, no where really to put then down
Review 70:Large triple room in older part of hotel with lovely high ceilings & balcony with table & chairs. Pool & spa pool were really good & almost like having your own private facilities as quite often on our own in there. Food excellent, friendly staff, plenty of parking & really quiet.
Review 71:Beds uncomfortable. Bedrooms overall were tired, shower sealant mouldy and shower smelt stale. Decoration tired in bedroom areas, ok in common spaces. Lack of car parking spaces, small bays, my car suffered minor damage.
Review 72:Balcony from room. Staff helpful and generally polite.
Review 73:Nothing, just perfect!
Review 74:Clean and comfortable, frendliest and most concientious staff we have ever encountered, made our stay most enjoyable and the facilities on offer were excellent, and the food...wow! Pity we could not have stayed longer! Will definately return!
Review 75:The location was perfect a short walk from Tenby centre. The staff were welcoming and the service was excellent, nothing was too much trouble. The food was truly exceptional. The facilities were great, a number of my group had a variety of treatments and were very pleased. The hairdresser came in particularly handy! The rooms were clean, beds comfortable, balcony overlooking the sunny terrace. We all had a great time and I will be visiting again. Thank You Heywood Spa for making our weekend a great one.
Review 76:bed a little too firm and shower was a problem, either too hot or not enough pressure
Review 77:Excellent staff, pool and facilities very good, excellent breakfast
Review 78:couldn't fault anything (other than slightly week wifi signal in the room)
Review 79:everything! the owner came over to us a breakfast time and personally thanked us for staying. he was also very engaging with us and our kids, nice gesture. would defo visit again if in the area.
Review 80:Room was a little dated. Television was old and signal poor. Bathroom was dated, cracks in bath etc. Just thought for the cost of the hotel, the rooms were lacking somewhat.
Review 81:Friendly staff. Good location. Comfortable surroundings.
Review 82:The hotel was fab staff so lovely and friendly ,the chef even came out with free truffles and to ask if we enjoyed our meal on the 1 night...never had that before. The pool was lovely and my teenagers enjoyed. We had a large room with more than enough space for all of us. When we were unable to open the safe in our room the staff went all out to help us even trying to get a new safe. Overall a lovely stay.
Review 83:Nothing.
Review 84:Although the hotel was fully booked it was so calm and peaceful. It was our first family holiday with our 6 week old, and he has never slept better. All staff were fantastic and very helpful. My husband commented that it was the best customer service we have ever had. Nothing was too much.
Review 85:Wifi was patchy in the hotel - an annoyance for teenagers! Would have liked a variety of fresh fruit on offer for breakfast.
Review 86:The indoor pool and Jacuzzi were well maintained and all facilities were very clean. The family room was a good size for the four of us. The beds were really comfortable, we all slept very well. Really liked the little patio we had outside the room, was lovely to sit out there and play cards.
Review 87:Bedroom décor a little tired, shower fittings loose. Breakfast service on second morning a little slow and not terribly friendly.
Review 88:Décor in public areas was good. Friendly welcome from receptionist on arrival. Barman very helpful and friendly. Evening meal and breakfast very good.
Review 89:The overall impression of the hotel was good, however the room we booked smelled mouldy. We asked for a different room and were moved and were charged at the lower room rate. The staff apologised though this room should not be offered to guests until it is up to standard.
Review 90:The hotel staff were excellent, helpful and friendly.
Review 91:One teeny weeny note: Outside lights(including balcony lights) weren't put on at all at night, everything was in darkness which I thought was a bit strange.
Review 92:Food was lovely. Nice room with balcony. Bed was very comfortable. All the staff were lovely, friendly and very helpful. Can't fault the service at all.
Review 93:Brasserie was closed for a private function on the night we stayed which was a bit disappointing as the menu looked great (in fairness we were emailed in advance, though after we had booked). However, we discovered a hotel/restaurant in Penally ( 5-10 mins away) where the food was exceptional.
Review 94:A conveniently located hotel for Tenby. Spa facilities were clean, relaxing and enjoyable. All staff were polite, friendly and helpful. Room was fine. Breakfast good.
Review 95:The staff had bad attitude towards me in the evening, forcing me to eat out for the rest of my stay as they made me and my partner unwelcome
Review 96:The pool and the bedroom was ok
Review 97:Overall a very good stay. Room was excellent, location nice and close to tenby, staff friendly, food & drink excellent, gym equipment was either very old or second hand. Most of it was not working or out of order. Pool is very small but is adequate for a little dip. Sauna bench didn't feel safe. How ever we did learn new it has new owners who are refurbishing the hotel. Maybe next year some of the maintenance will be sorted.
Review 98:The shower was not very powerful. Some areas are still a little tired but I know the present owners are working hard to update the hotel and the already refurbished areas are looking fabulous.
Review 99:Room was spacious and very clean. Private balcony had full sun in the afternoon. Food and restaurant excellent. All staff are friendly, attentive and polite. Thank you Ben and Sophie in particular.
Review 100:Bathroom, problems - shower in bath, no safety mat provided, no handrails, no towel rails/hooks or even a toilet roll holder, music noise from other areas ( I think this may have adjacent property)
Review 101:Check in was good and very friendly, but room location from check in was difficult with luggage and no help offered.
Review 102:The bath panel was cracked, the sink did not have a plug . No toilet roll holder. The window did not shut completely. Two of the rooms power switches worked intermittently. The rooms were basic and very close to each other so you could here the other residents.
Review 103:The service and breakfast was fantastic.
Review 104:The Owners have carried out an excellent renovation here in a very good location. All the Staff were superb, very pleasant and friendly. Breakfasts were of the finests choices that we have been offered in similar Hotels in the UK and in fact of higher graded hotels as well in Europe and USA. Two Evenings when we used the Restaurant for Dinner were superb once again for Choice, Presentation,Service and certainly Enjoyment. Many Thanks to Chefs and Staff.
Review 105:Internet was a little unstable...but considering we were on holiday......:)
Review 106:The staff were wonderful. Especially nice when the owner came in to greet us personally at breakfast.......Had a wonderful time!
Review 107:Worse aspect was the location..[only if you wanted to walk into Tenby]..because of the narrow road and lack of a pavement for the first 100 yards.
Review 108:The Staff. Extremely helpful when my husband was taken ill..called 999, and did everything they could to help us, and when I was coping with our checkout, luggage etc. The manager phoned us at home the next day to see how we were.
Review 109:I thought the mattress was a little soft. The pool was a little too deep for a spa so I didn't head in too far as I don't like deep water.
Review 110:We were made to feel very welcome from the start. Our room was bright and airy and clean, and the Jacuzzi bath was a real treat. We had a balcony at the front of the Hotel which was nice. We had a fabulous meal in the Brasserie on our first night which was very welcome, service was very good. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of extras such as cereals, raisins, prunes ,yogurts. The spa was lovely and clean very well kept and we were given nice clean fresh towels every time we went in. we were very well looked after :)
Review 111:The Spa facilities were a little basic - one shower in the changing room. No robes.
Review 112:The room was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was superb. The staff were friendly.
Review 113:The room had a sky light window - as soon as the sun came up on the morning i was woken by the light. There was an iron burn mark on the carpet, certainly not a problem as such but it wouldnt have hurt for the hotel to make an attempt to cover it, they obviously didnt think this was necessary. Rugby Club Gym outside our window, Extremely loud base/disco music played at 05.45 hrs in the morning and every afternoon. Relaxing in the room was not an option, extremely disappointing. The 'owners' of the hotel were extremely un-sympathetic and I got the impression that once they had our money then the issues with the noise were actually ' our issues ' and not theirs. They said they had complained to the Rugby Club but other than that as far as I was concerned, the room was not ' fit for purpose '. This was obviously something that had been an issue historically with the hotel but they continue to sell the room and expect and get full payment for it.......it was £ 109.00 per night without breakfast, for this kind of money i would expect a relaxing atmosphere. We actually booked out a day early because of the noise - not that we were looking for it, there was absolutely no offer of discount etc. We were offered another hotel by the owners but to be honest hassle factor would have been too much....we came away for a relaxing couple of days, and certainly didnt receive it. Absolute shambles of a break.
Review 114:The staff were very helpful, with the issues that we had they certainly did their best to resolve them.
Review 115:We decided to book an Executive Family room, based on other hotels we've stayed at recently, I'm not necessarily sure it was worth the £169 (1 night) we paid, but that could be more to do with the Tenby effect and of course it was August holidays.
Review 116:Friendly staff, especially in the bar and restaurant. Enjoyed sitting out on the patio taking in the evening sunshine. Leisure facilities good, pool a little on small side but hey I'm no Michael Phelps!
Review 117:The gym was shocking nothing seemed to work was old and rusty or broken . Photos taken
Review 118:The rooms were really nice comfortable and nice having separate lounge area
Review 119:There was nothing to dislike
Review 120:The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. The hotel was very clean and well equipped and the pool/jacuzzi was lovely
Review 121:Used, on our stay, by families with young children who were unsettled at night! We stayed 4 nights and sheets were not changed but the towels were.
Review 122:The Hotel, room, bar and restaurant very good. The pool a little small when being used by a number of people.
Review 123:Just a bit too far out of Tenby. Only shame was that we could only get a roast dinner on Sunday evening - would have liked a choice of meal, something different as we had had a roast at lunchtime whilst out.
Review 124:Staff were friendly and the barman was very pleasant. Most of the reception staff were very helpful.
Review 125:didnt like walk into tenby as we had children with us & road outside hotel didnt have pavement & very narrow, takes a good 20,mins,or so to walk to town,& hilly,
Review 126:comfortable room,& facilities i:e,indoor pool ect,v,good, good breakfast with good choice of options,
Review 127:The fact that the air conditioning had been put on in my room for myarrival. I, as do many others, hate the new 'service' ofpresenting a room as if one is moving into the fridge. So unwelcoming. It's so much easier to cool a room instantly, than heat and arelaxing cup of tea in a freezing room on arrival is the pits! However, your lovely receptionist got my point and acted immediately by bringingme, as I requested, a fan heater and extra duvet, both of which I used.
Review 128:Your staff. My bed.
Review 129:The desription states only half a mile from the beach which may be true on a map but it is quite a walk with hills and main roads. We had a room with bunk beds but the top bunk didn't have a safety rail.
Review 130:The hotel is very comfortable and is staffed to a high standard.
Review 131:Room faced onto a nice garden courtyard and the dining room waslarge and spacious. Servers were very friendly. Our portable gps gothopelessly lost in Tenby without a house number to go bye, and whenwe finally asked directions of a local taxi driver he kindly leadthe way right to the hotel. It was a very nice introduction to thepeople of Tenby.
Review 132:Everything. We cannot fault the staff or the hotel. Spotless clean, excellent service, fantastic chef and restaurant staff. Many trades in the UK should learn how to run a business and customer service from the owners of this hotel.
Review 133:Had an evening meal in restaurant no water on table had to ask, no steak knife given with steak had to ask, no butter given with jacket potato had to ask. We had to make our own toast for breakfast which took a while and the bread was so thin when toasted it was like card. The only fruit provided for breakfast was a banana. I've stayed here before the take over and the standard was much higher.
Review 134:Clean and comfortable. Good wi if
Review 135:The only problem we had was the walk into the town, with part road near the hotel having no pavement to walk on and it being a very busy road.
Review 136:Very welcoming friendly staff. Clean comfortable room.
Review 137:the condition of the room (Room 10) (and our friends in room 14) need updating and for the room tariff paid we felt was most disappointing.
Review 138:friendliness of owners and staff.
