Reviews for Days Inn Hotel Donington and East Midlands Airport
Review 1:No negative feelings apart from having to de ice my car in the morning
Review 2:Did what it said on the tin, good value for money and the lady on reception was really helpful
Review 3:clean and convenient for where we want to be ,we can take our dog and the staff are always very friendly with us.Could probably do with a little redecoration now
Review 4:Really like this hotel. Staff are always friendly. I stay here every time I travel to this location because it gives me easy access to the places I visit.
Review 5:The morning staff very incompetent at their job. I came down for breakfast 1 hour after it started no milk no hot water no lights on in breakfast room. Very bad service
Review 6:Arrival reception staff very good very helpful
Review 7:Stopped for 4 days Bed not made No clean sheets No clean towels even though I placed the used ones in the bath
Review 8:Reception staff very friendly and helpful
Review 9:The staff were very friendly and helpful and assisted me with arranging a hire car. They were extremely patient and always smiling-a refreshing experience for me as I travel a lot and when in Derby again will definitely use the same Hotel.
Review 10:stayed for 2 nights bed very sqeaky and uncomfatable came back second day and it looked like my 4 year old grandaugther had made bed and cleaned the room
Review 11:Bed not very comfortable. Although I was given an "Executive Room" it had a Chimney/Exhaust arrangement on the roof near my window and was very noisy when it came on. Beer at bar very expensive !
Review 12:Friendly Receptionist
Review 13:3 people - 2 mugs (we didn't use them in the end but takes 2 seconds to see how many people are staying and adjust things)
Review 14:Spacious room Comfy bed price
Review 15:It is located on a services that only has a petrol station forecourt. Don't think this is near the airport, there is no over bridge to get to south bound A50 you will have to carry on to Derby then return on the opposite carriage way .
Review 16:A comfy bed for the night
Review 17:The bedding smelt of smoke. Three of the four rooms I saw smelt of smoke it was disgusting. There was a team of gymnasts from Ireland who were yelling and screaming in the corridor who I had to tell to be quiet on numerous occasions. Very poor
Review 18:Location right next to main road with no local facilities was a disadvantage which did not affect me greatly on this occasion.
Review 19:Location was ideal for airport.
Review 20:I cannot believe in this 21st century that a walk-in shower could not be provided in this establishment, part of a much larger group, and the shower over the bath was not the safest environment, hence the provision of a large grab handle. The bed was something else and I can only describe it as like sleeping on a trampoline. Not the most comfortable experience for either me or my wife. The so-called Continental Breakfast was nothing like either of us have found on the Continent and was so basic that it called into question what we were actually paying for. The hotel does not boast a restaurant but snacks can be obtained from the adjacent fuel reception area Would we go back, no I don't think so.
Review 21:The staff could not faulted but the facilities are minimalist.
Review 22:The venue, the location, the room the facilities, the cleanliness, the experience, the time we won't ever get back, local taxi firms, everything. Add photos of stunning view to my review???? It's on the side of a dual carriageway stapled to a petrol station, the breakfast offered was as distinctly overpriced as it was bland. I would rather sleep on broken glass in a bus stop than reread and reexperience the false premise that this venue provided.
Review 23:The desk staff girl was lovely and apologetic.
Review 24:Mattress dipped in the middle so wasn't very comfy. Was woken up 3 times by people banging on doors one of the reasons was reception trying to wake someone up who's partner had past out drunk in reception area. Nice place just a really bed nights sleep
Review 25:Friendly staff, shop downstairs
Review 26:The route instructions from booking.com are incorrect. After the roundabout on the eastbound A50, you should take the slip road to "Services", NOT the slip road to Derby. Limited services available and it's in the middle of no where
Review 27:It was cheap, clean and comfortable.
Review 28:I was there for an interview at East Mids Airport. Location was perfect, the ladies on duty were brilliant. They helped me out no end in various ways, couldn't have been more helpful. If you know who they were or have any input, please pass on my thanks to the evening shift lady and the morning shift lady. Both extremely helpful.
Review 29:Very expensive for last minute booking due to a bereavement in thefamily forced my stay. Breakfast is expensive for what it is
Review 30:They allow dogs.easy to find as just off the a50
Review 31:Disappointed that there was nowhere to eat a proper meal at these services. Glad our son had a satnav as without it we may have had trouble finding it.
Review 32:Welcoming staff. Comfortable bed. Very clean. Everything we needed.
Review 33:Everything
Review 34:I didn't like a think . Sofa bed was dig using , very dirty . Couldn't put my children in it , it was that bad . Would never stay again
Review 35:Only thing and not bad but not good was that cleaners didn't really clean the room, the bed wasn't made properly and duvet just pulled up roughly on the bed and pillow left upright where my husband had been sitting up in bed. Breakfast was good but some cold meats and cheese would have been nice. Also, why is there smoking in some rooms? Smoking is banned all over the UK in all establishments, so why should it be ok because the hotel is "American" as one of the staff pointed out.
Review 36:Staff and hotel brilliant clean and warm staff helpful and polite
Review 37:Hotel on a service area was perfectly placed to split a long journey. Rooms very clean, free wifi etc Facilities are basic, but that is reflected in the very affordable price.
Review 38:Had to change rooms as large group of rowdy lads were in several rooms near us. This was dealt with quickly and satisfactorily though.
Review 39:Price. Good value for money. Very friendly receptionist.
Review 40:rather odd shower/bath controls couldnt seem to get hot bath, dirty toilet on arrival, why is there no loo brush anymore?
Review 41:does the job in an efficient straightforward way
Review 42:No breakfast avable ie cooked full english this has now been remove in favor of hot roll's ?.
Review 43:Good location for our need's, staff made us very welcome, service area on site.
Review 44:Was not happy that we only offered a continental breakfast & not a full English due to the removal of the restaurant & only being able to get a Breakdast bap which was of poor quality for the price of £4.29
Review 45:The staff
Review 46:Was disappointed that there wasn't anywhere close by to have hot food, had to travel 20 minutes to find a restaurants. The room was freezing when we arrived and took a good hour to warm up.
Review 47:Absolutely loved the receptionist, so friendly and had a brilliant sense of humour. Nice & quiet location & the room was away from the dial cariageway.
Review 48:Even though we did book a smoking room, due to no non-smoking roomsbeing unavailable, the smell of the room was somewhat overwhelming. Onthe Internet it stated that there was a: Waitrose, Burger King and akfc, there was not. This left us struggling for food as the hotel doesnot have any on site cooking facilities.
Review 49:Friendly staff.
Review 50:There was a lot of noise from the A50 so I didn't sleep well but I chose the hotel because of it's location so I can't really complain.
Review 51:Location was great for getting to/from East Midlands Airport. Wifi was good. The lady on reception was very helpful and friendly.
Review 52:The bed was very uncomfortable - it was a saggy old mattress, we left early as couldn't be bothered with the hassle of changing rooms at that time of the night and just went straight to the airport.Wouldnt stay again
Review 53:Absolutely nothing.
Review 54:I enjoy a room that I can smoke in, while the staff were very friendly, helpful and naturally welcoming. Which encompassed everybody including the lady who cleaned my room. All of which as a company, you can be sure are performing very well indeed.
Review 55:this hotel is useless do not stay, I have been charged for two nights at £60 tafter only staying a single night. It turns out the staff also failed to inform the private land owner of the car park my registration (despite filling out the forms at reception). I now have a parking fine for £100 due to their negligence. £226 for a nights stay in a filthy, run down hotel without anywhere to eat or drink. Avoid unless you haven't slept for a week, even then park up and sleep in the car.
Review 56:leaving
Review 57:Booked a family room with a cot...even called by phone to confirm booking and details and cot bed. Got there at 9pm with family to find they only had 2 cot beds for the whole hotel. Manager was not there...completely useless. Was told nothing they could do. Will be speaking with my credit card company....l had to buy a bloody cot bed from a local late night Asda. Badly managed.joke.
Review 58:Cheap.
Review 59:Must smell from bathroom when we entered room. We had window open as it was quite warm. Noise of traffic disturbed my husbands as he is a light sleeper, but it didn't bother me!
Review 60:Bathroom very clean despite the smell. Lovely big, clean towels. Continental breakfast available, plenty of choice of fresh fruit, cereals, pastries, toast yoghurts.
Review 61:The room had a musty damp smell to it like it hadn't been used for a while. No air conditioning and was warm. location was a pain to get to as its only excess is one side of the A50 with quiet a distance to junctions.
Review 62:The room size and layout was good. shower was good and hot, bed comfy
Review 63:It would have helped a bit if the welcome break was better stocked. We had to drive a ways to get something to eat
Review 64:Close to an event we were attending and fairly easy to get to
Review 65:Days Inn seemed to have double booked and gave a keycard to half the party for a room which had someone already in! Ended up sharing which was ok and were compensated but rather embarrassing and would have been very difficult if original number booked for had turned up!!
Review 66:Friendly helpful staff.
Review 67:Sheets were stained, no hair dryer, wake up call was a knock on the door as they walked past, didn't wait for a reply. Room generally dirty
Review 68:Reception was very friendly
Review 69:Room was unbelievably hot and uncomfortable even when it was cool outside. Had to push double bed nearer to the window to get air. Fan was given to us after we complained which helped but it was incredibly noisy. No sleep had as a result.
Review 70:Staff friendly and helpful. Good location for travel.
Review 71:Internet usage was a poor signal and struggled to connect. Only hot option for breakfast was toast, not really worth £5.95 for toast
Review 72:the room was clean, staff were friendly and helpful
Review 73:The furnishings in the room were very shabby, the curtain had come off the track before we arrived so was hard to sleep with light coming in.
Review 74:The staff were very freindly and helpfull
Review 75:Difficult to control water temp. Bath lukewarm. Shower either cold or very hot.
Review 76:Cleanliness, bed and general comfort of room was good. WiFi was easy to access and good speed. Not far from good eating places
Review 77:The only thing that let it down was, breakfast, they only put a continental breakfast, and children would not want this, cereal and toast, would be fine, also offer of a cooked breakfast, or even a bacon barm, even if it was sold in shop,
Review 78:Every thing was good about this hotel, we stayed 2 nights, for a family wedding near by,there was 4 adults and 4 children in two rooms, and every thing was good clean ,helpful staff,
Review 79:Room was very warm and window barely opens. No air conditioning. Only very hot water in the shower.
Review 80:Good value for money given the price. Good place to stay a night whilst passing through.
Review 81:The bed was the most uncomfortable bed I have slept on in a long time. We also received a £100 parking fine for using the car park. This was cancelled by the hotel after complaining, but should not have happened in the first place.
Review 82:I didn't get an invoice for my stay and need it. When checking in, even though I paid, I was told that I need it when checking out. I realised only later that I did not get it as I forgot to ask again then.
Review 83:Quiet and functional room. Friendly staff
Review 84:I did not like the fact I had to pay an early book in fee of £10 for the sake of 45 min. But I do understand the staff had extra cleaning due to the mud from the festival taking up time. I paid it because I needed to be in & away.
Review 85:Girl at front desk very helpful even run off her feet .
Review 86:Great stay, staff were very friendly, room was great. Booking.comhowever, were not. I will not be going through booking.com again. Thehote was not 1 mile away from Download Festival, I will not pay £20 taxione way and I rang in advance to pay the hotel and all fees whenapparently booking.com do not take payments - so why did the gentlemanon the phone for booking.com confirm that my room had been paid for?Although the hotel helped me to sort this on the day, I did not need theadded stress.
Review 87:Beds very uncomfortable, sagging in the middle and appeared quite old. Bathroom tiles, sink and bath appeared dirty.
Review 88:Staff very friendly and helpful. Helped to book transport and negotiate a reasonable fare with local taxi firm.
Review 89:The shower wasn't the best but I've noticed it's rare to find a good shower in any hotel
Review 90:The staff were so friendly and helpful. They made theistic very comfortable
Review 91:After booking " airport hotel " we found that it cost twenty pounds in a taxi to get to it. And that it's is not near anything else. Hence extortionate prices at the adjacent garage. WiFi did not work. With the 40 spent on taxis, we would have been better off booking a nicer hotel that was actually at the airport. Very very disappointed
Review 92:The staff were helpful and friendly. The rooms were comfortable and fine. I thought the price was slightly high, but it was download festival so all prices are higher. Overall pleasant stay.
Review 93:The pull out bed for the child was horrible, he may aswell have slept on the floor. After leaving our details at reception, car Reg included we got a fine in the post for illegal parking of £106??? It has since been rectified but was a lot hassle.
Review 94:Close to Airport, which is what we needed it for. But you will need a car.
Review 95:The bed dipped, so me & my partner kept rolling into the middle.
Review 96:Nice helpful friendly staff, very clean, reasonable price, would stay there again.
Review 97:no internet access from our own room - only from restaurant but staff assured us that this was being dealt with in the next 2 weeks.
Review 98:as a mature, clean smokers we really appreciated this venue - service good, plenty of choice for breakfast. very helpful staff.
Review 99:All good to me....wine in bar a it pricey but that's about it
Review 100:Just the job for our racing weekend at donnington ....taxi down the road to some fab pubs.couldnt ask for more for the price
Review 101:We booked a smoking room without realising - make sure you double check before you confirm it as it really stinks if you are a non-smoker. We were lucky enough to be able to swap rooms (courtesy of the lovely receptionist who couldn't do enough to help us!) but avoid if you don't smoke.
Review 102:Staff are really, really nice!
Review 103:Very basic in terms of facilities e.g. Room/bed/Bathroom, no TV, small bar in hotel and nothing else nearby other than motorway services.
Review 104:Fair price for the accommodation and proximity to the airport.
Review 105:Fan in bathroom was faulty & door would not completely close from the bedroom side. Pull cord on curtain track not working.
Review 106:Excellent friendly receptionists. I did not originally order breakfast, but was given a free one because of the room problems.
Review 107:Bath in our room this time was woefully shallow! I expect its for safety but quite uncomfortable.
Review 108:Wonderful staff as always - We stay here as a trio 4 times a year to escape and have a bath before returning to camping. Beds are comfortable, the rooms are clean! Never tried the food, mind. I expect it's like any other continental brekkie. Staff are wonderful to deal with (I am disabled and occasionally need help with bags) and do their best to accommodate myself and my friends.
Review 109:need to inform the customer about parking i saw a parking sign but assumed that as i was staying at the hotel i was fine. however 2 weeks later i had a parking fine, called the hotel they said they would cancel. a week later i had another warning letter. cancelled again, bit of a hassel to be fair.
Review 110:comfy beds, warm and quiet.
Review 111:The entire premises needs a bit of a facelift and for the price of a bed for the night (£40) I have had better value for money in nicer places
Review 112:It was a comfortable bed and the room was spacious
Review 113:Staff were a bit blunt, it was too pricey considering breakfast wasn't included. The breakfast if we wanted it was too expensive. The room was too hot and noisy from some sort of boiler system.
Review 114:Size of room was good, clean and comfy. We liked having free wifi.
Review 115:Leg broken off bed. Not spotted until late evening after I'd unpacked.
Review 116:Convenient location for Donington Park. No fuss. Nice staff. Good parking.
Review 117:didn't realise we had booked a smoking room and there was no air freshener to diminish the smell which was very strong
Review 118:very helpful staff and friendly
Review 119:The only downside is just a service station on site. But if you are looking for a comfortable clean place to stay _ you can't go wrong here.
Review 120:Staff were excellent, Donna in particular. Clean comfy and pleasant. Spotless bathroom with plenty of hot water and a good shower. Surprisingly quiet given the location. Great stopover location.
Review 121:I stayed the night before my wedding expecting to get a basic but relaxing stay. Mould in corner of room, rentakill device under sofabed, mould and who knows what on hand as I made the bed up. H
Review 122:My money was refunded as the night receptionist said the cleanliness was not good enough and there were no spare rooms available.
Review 123:Got smoking room as that was the only one offered for price. The room and corridor smelt absolutely awful. Dirty ashtray in room. Kids were constantly complaining about smell, didn't think it would smell so bad.
Review 124:Friendly staff. Price.
Review 125:Hadn't appreciated that this hotel was on the "wrong" side of the duel carriage way for my needs. It incurred me with extra taxi fares due to having to double back to get to where I needed to be! My fault really, I should have paid more attention when I made the booking
Review 126:1-There was no wifi. 2-Breakfast would be nice if it include egg, sausage, toast. And not just cereal and fruits.
Review 127:We rested well, the bed was comfy.thanks
Review 128:No lift so had to cart my luggage up the stairs to find that my key card didn't work went back down and the reception said it should work and checked the card she then came back with me to check it worked and this time it did. The room was basic which was expected for the price however it did have a funny smell to it and a drainage smell in the bathroom. In the morning we lost power to our room which meant we could not get ready properly. After speaking to staff for a 3rd time we were offered the use of another room.
Review 129:Booked this hotel as nearby to the location of a friends birthday party and was cheap enough for a bed for the night which was all we needed. Also not far from pride park so was able to go there the next day. Receptionist was friendly.
Review 130:This was a great location on route to our destination. The lady on the desk was lovely and very welcoming. She suggested family friendly places to eat or takeaway as they didn't serve food in the hotel itself in the evening (even though the website suggested it did). The room was comfortable and we didn't hear the traffic. Our lamp wasn't working and she sorted everything out. Would deff stay again. Thank you.
Review 131:there is no where to eat, on the description it doesn't say it's a services so I wasn't happy when we got there to find it was. Round the window was mouldy, the bed was so uncomfortable I hardly slept. The shower is powerful but not hot enough and we woke to no electricity and when I mentioned it at reception on check out she then informed me they was having problems with some of the rooms. Thanks for telling us....not. so couldn't have our morning coffee, had to use our phones torch so we could get washed ect. Wish I had booked somewhere else.
Review 132:honestly didn't like anything
Review 133:Excessive wait at reception when checking in while receptionist finished personal call No quality food on site - about 20 mile round trip to supermarket/fast food outlets Hard, springy bed
Review 134:Decent choice of TV channels The heated batchroom mirror Executive rooms are a decent size
Review 135:£69 for a single bed invalid room with Luke warm water and broken shower thermostat. Wall radiator thermostat not controlling temp in room and made a loud noise every time it switched on. Had to turn it off to sleep.Water still off next morning. Drinks expensive.
Review 136:Reception very smart and polite. Clean throughout.
