Reviews for Camden Arms Hotel
Review 1:We liked the overall atmosphere service from all the staff the food was absolutely amazing and to die for room we had was very clean comfortable and traditional which made our stay overly pleasant.
Review 2:Nothing
Review 3:Delicious food with wide menu choice. Very welcoming and helpful staff. Room was comfortable, clean, quiet and good value with free onsite parking.
Review 4:The single bed was a little narrow for me. I was afraid I might fall out. i would have liked a comfy chair to sit on. Buses in to Tunbridge Wells were not very frequent on a Sunday
Review 5:Staff friendly and rstaurant and bar inviting. Food very good. Nice wet room.
Review 6:Mattress was poor quality.
Review 7:This is nice hotel to stay at and the staff are quite friendly. The receptionist on arrival was a bit grumpy. The room was clean though I did find a bottle top under a pillow.
Review 8:The room could have been a bit more clean.
Review 9:The quality of the breakfast was exceptional overall. Only small ting to improve would be the juice. The guest rooms are in a newer building towards the back garden so very quiet.
Review 10:The food in the pub is great!!! We had lunch, dinner and breakfast and it was all so good! It's nice that you can have nice dinner and go straight to your room to relax (we have small kids so it's even more convenient for us). Next morning you wake up and go straight to the pub to have warm full English breakfast. We all were very happy. It was our second time stay at the hotel and we'll go back again.
Review 11:Management and staff were all very relaxed as are all good professionals. All were helpful , the facilities and food was excellent and all this contributed to a fine relaxed atmosphere. Overall this was one of the best 2 nights away we have ever had. Not only that but the breakfasts were fresh and tasty and well presented. We felt that this is one of the best kept pubs/hotel we have ever been to.
Review 12:Only thing I did not like was feather pillows, I prefer a harder pillow and a choice would be appreciated.
Review 13:Easy to find, good sized car park, especially like the fact that the rooms were not above the pub, but in an annexe to the side which was nice and quiet, good sized room and en-suite, comfy bed, really tasty food
Review 14:Poor water pressure in the shower. Breakfast buffet is a bit disorganised. Smell from bar toilets, when walking back to our room.
Review 15:Very quaint bar / restaurant area. Extensive menu and plenty of choice for breakfast too.
Review 16:The owners operate a first class establishment Well trained friendly staff. The charming old pub, does is great place to relax, and enjoy good food. We would stay there again
Review 17:Well overpriced for a bog-standard pub. Breakfast below average andnothing like as stated in other reviews I read on the website .
Review 18:Close to Tunbridge Wells and Sevenoaks, nice enough meal in the eveningbut nothing special.
Review 19:No bad experience. Everyone was very helpful
Review 20:Friendliness of staff. Comfortable rooms, good breakfast. We had a hire car and could park beside the hotel which made life easy. The location suited us because we were close to family, for others there is a bus into Tunbridge Wells which leaves from the front of the hotel. If you have a car, you have easy access to major roads. The hotel is in a quiet secluded village, a very pleasant environment.
Review 21:Owners a bit over bearing at breakfast need to step back a little.I sure they think there being helpful but don't treat us like kids
Review 22:Brilliant place young staff very friendly
Review 23:Good location for the purpose of our visit. Food was very good especially breakfast, rooms well appointed and comfortable. Staff were very polite and helpful.
Review 24:Pillows could have been more comfortable... They were quite flat
Review 25:Clean, spacious ensuite double room. Convenient on site parking and separate bar and hotel access. Excellent location only a 10 minute drive to TW town centre...all round great accommodation and location for a relaxing weekend
Review 26:Room was very comfortable and well equipped, very quite no noise from the pub, they were able to cater for my wife who is Gluten free, great location will probably visit again
Review 27:3 dislikes: The surprised answer when I was asked how many were in my party. The reaction was 'You are travelling alone?', 'Just you?' and 'Only you?' The scuffed wall in the room Not finding the eggs to fry at breakfast
Review 28:Staff were polite and helpful.
Review 29:I've stayed before and always find the staff courteous and helpful. Dinner and breakfast are very good and the location is ideal for access to the local area.
Review 30:The rooms were comfortable and plenty of space. Breakfast was excellent, nothing was any problem to the staff. There was a lovely atmosphere in the bar area.
Review 31:The staff were extremely friendly and helpful; the rooms was big and clean; the bed was a king-sized and extremely comfortable; the breakfast was very nice and very quaintly presented. This is a lovely hotel.
Review 32:Rooms were a bit cold, had to start heating end of August.
Review 33:Good Pub with attached rooms. Chose this as last location before taking a ferry at noon at Dover, and this worked out very well. The pub is a must for the evening - lively and very good food. Room was very spacious (barrier-free?). Close to supermarkets and Tunbridge Wells. Breakfast was good.
Review 34:Owners very friendly, evening meal was excellent food and large portions . so much choice for breakfast and very tasty and tea served in a tea pot. room and bathroom comfortable and roomy.
Review 35:This is exactly a bad experience but my evening meal was very poorly presented - the fish was delicious but it all looked rather grey as it was served with endive.
Review 36:It's a very picturesque pub hotel with a huge garden, good parking, friendly and helpful staff, and extremely reasonable pricing. The breakfast in particular was fantastic, covering every style from full English to European.
Review 37:Characterful it was the historical character of the property that first attracted me to the hotel. The whole blend of old and new was a perfect mix and the friendliness of the family run hotel made the stay very pleasurable.
Review 38:Nothing only that we couldn't stay longer and try the Sunday Roast!
Review 39:It was clean, comfortable and friendly. Really lovely place to stay and would highly recommend.
Review 40:The staff sorted out any needs quickly and efficiently. There was a huge menu of food to choose from and it looked and tasted delicious. The room had everything that was needed and the location was good.
Review 41:- Toilet in our room stopped flushing on the morning we checked out; not a major issue and the staff were having this fixed as soon as we reported the fault.
Review 42:- The staff were great; very helpful and went out of their way to make our short stay as pleasant as possible. - Breakfast spread was varied.
Review 43:Host were fantastic x we couldnt get a taxi as one if our party in a wheel chair they took us to our venue & wouldnt take any money x more than accomodating & genuinlly nice family run buisness x
Review 44:None
Review 45:The old fashioned pub in the front with the more modern sleeping apartments well away from traffic noise at the back. The garden while the sun shone.
Review 46:Squeeky wardrobe which was very difficult to open plus a broken luggage stand. Also I felt it was a bit expensive for the quality of the hotel.
Review 47:Clean room. large shower, nice breakfast, lots of parking, part of a very nice pub.
Review 48:The ultra soft matrass with springs... good for one night but not much longer
Review 49:Friendly staff, and we started with a lovely late lunch in the Hotel's garden. Our bikes were safely stored and we finished our stay with a phantastic breakfast
Review 50:The warm welcome and very helpful staff. High standard of accommodation set in a traditional English pub atmosphere - with a good choice of beers in the bar. We would stay there again without hesitation.
Review 51:We ate in the restaurant on the first night and waited a long time between starters and main course. We thought we would try again on the second evening as the pub has a long and interesting menu. But we waited 55 minutes for 2 mains from time of ordering. Lovely food when it eventually arrived. When we queried the time it took staff were apologetic and said the pub was very busy that night. From where we were sitting it looked much like a midweek anywhere, busy but not packed.
Review 52:Friendly staff, comfortable room, great shower. Excellent breakfast. .
Review 53:Only one pillow on the bed per person, would have liked another. The car park was untidy, bins overflowing, food left on the car park surface, i think this was after the bins had been emptied by the refuse collectors.
Review 54:Easy to find, pleasant setting, staff were very welcoming, plenty of choice for breakfast.
Review 55:Room very cramped with huge 4 poster bed, no where for second person to put their clothes, water pressure poor in shower. Staff not very friendly, felt like we were an inconvenience whilst staying there. Fish pie very disappointing. I could go on....
Review 56:Large, free car park. Bed quite comfy and bathroom was nice.
Review 57:Nothing really what I expected for a local overnight stay in a pub/hotel but quite expensive at £98.00 per night.
Review 58:Comfy bed and good hearty breakfast
Review 59:The room was a little smaller and darker than expected.
Review 60:Family run. Friendliness of staff. Quality of service. Comfort. Excellent value for money. Accommodated all requests.
Review 61:Excellent facilities with modern, clean bedrooms attached to a friendly restaurant/pub. The staff were friendly and helpful and both breakfast and dinner consisted of good quality food with plenty of choice.
Review 62:Everything. Booked last minute for a romantic getaway surprise. Staff in Hotel and Restaurant attentive and friendly. Room and bed high quality. Food is superb. The ribs are fantastic. Breakfast excellent. Highly recommend.
Review 63:Nothing we didn't like from this hotel apart for the large picture in the bedroom didn't suit the room!! Change it to something else!
Review 64:Wonderful room. Large kingsize bed. Lovely quality of sheets. Had an amazing comfy sleep. Wonderful double shower. Lovely rustic bar area. Lovely breakfast set upnin a quirky self service way. Provided me with Soy milk as requested. Nice location. Central to where we wanted to be for a vintage fair we went too. Friendly husband and wife team that own it. Will re book if we come back nect year but for two nights as our hotel in Southborough (salomans) is like sleeping at travel lodge.
Review 65:Noisy neighbours (inconsiderate guests who couldn't control their children). Beyond the control of the hotel yet they acted promptly and moved us to a much quieter room. Well resolved, couldn't ask for more
Review 66:Perfect location for visiting various National Trust properties. A really nice place to stay.
Review 67:Majority of the staff absolutly great. A couple of the young bar staff a bit self important and would not go out of there way to assist.
Review 68:Bed breakfasts Reasonable Cost Great Beer! Oldy worldly and character personal and friendly service
Review 69:The only slight negative (and it is slight) was that dinner service took a long time and seemed a little chaotic - and I think the chef has grand ideas that don't quite translate (for instance, chips served in a chip basket is very trendy but this one was enormous and the chips weren't particularly good!). But the house wine was good value, the atmosphere was good and I guess it's always better to have too much food than not enough!
Review 70:The staff definitely make this place, everyone is very friendly and helpful, and we immediately felt at ease. We arrived around 5pm and had a drink in the bar with the newspapers they provided, it was very relaxed and there was plenty of space. A really nice feeling after a hectic day. Food was good, breakfast was particularly well organised with a good choice. We have stayed in Tunbridge Wells regularly but not found anywhere we would return to that doesn't cost the earth, so would definitely go back.
Review 71:Smoked salmon that was past sell by date at breakfast. Awful smoking area, did not offer value for money.
Review 72:Good location but wd not stay there again. Four poster room was did not offer value for money. Showe only, no bath.
Review 73:Love hotel but had bad meal unfortunately starter fab but I had lamb so undercooked I like rare meat very bloody and chewy new potatoes so hard but to be fair on the chef I am an ex pub manger had restaurants/ B and B so I did understand valentines nite had a big party who didn't sit down till late so it thru things out but no excuse still bad meal been rushed I expect was hungry still love the hotel and service plus staff just disappointed with meal
Review 74:Great staff and great manager
Review 75:We stayed Cristmas day night after visiting family locally, the breakfast on Boxing day the following morning was excellent, rounding off a delightful Christmas.
Review 76:Not a lot.
Review 77:Great, unpretentious food in a proper pub with a nice atmosphere. Rooms are very comfortable, and for once you get a good sized shower that maintains temperature and flow rate (very rare in my experience!). Always look forward to coming here.
Review 78:Feet at the bottom of the bed protrude and it is easy to trip up over them. Bathroom air filter was very noisy.
Review 79:Breakfast menu fantastic. Choice of snack food excellent
Review 80:Trouble with the plumbing
Review 81:The staff resolved our problem at 11pm on a Friday night!!! They were pleasant and could not have been more helpful. Comfortable bed and very clean. We will stay again
Review 82:Bit disappointed with self service breakfast. Expected it to be ordered and served at the table.
Review 83:The ambience of the hotel and the evening meal. Food was lovely. Also staff very friendly and efficient.
Review 84:the corridor from the rooms to the restaurant was very cold and smelt of cigarette smoke
Review 85:the food was very good and very friendly service, convenient car park
Review 86:Lovely clean room with extremely comfortable mattress and pillows. Shower with toiletries was a nice touch, as was the tea tray with bottled water too. Good assortment of hot and cold food for breakfast and would definitely stay again if in the area.
Review 87:The continental breakfast didn't look very appetising. Despite being on the menu, there was no stewed fruit out on show with the cereals as it usually is in hotels. I was in a hurry so, not knowing what exactly was on offer and what I might have been given, I didn't ask for it.
Review 88:I nearly always sleep badly away from home so I was pleasantly surprised to get a good night's sleep in a very comfortable bed in an extremely quiet room. There was a back exit onto the spacious car park so we didn't have to carry our gear right through the hotel and bar. All the staff, including the cleaning lady, were attentive and friendly. Would definitely book there next time we're travelling that way.
Review 89:The bed (room 6) had a very squeaky headboard/frame. The walls were thin enough to be disturbed by someone snoring in a nearby room. The mattress was not great. The view from the bedroom was not appealing for a luxury room.
Review 90:Plenty of storage in the room and a nice roomy bathroom. Breakfast was good, as was the evening meal we took, when the atmosphere was pleasantly lively. All the staff were helpful and friendly.
Review 91:Felt that the view from the room window could be improved by screening the trucks etc parked at the back of the hotel. Floorboards very creaky.
Review 92:Good location in a comfortable hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent, and reasonably priced. Lots of attention to detail, which was much appreciated, would definitely come again.
Review 93:no sooner then you finish eating your plate is taken from table not even asked if you have finished yet need to wait a bit longer
Review 94:the room and location
Review 95:Cooked breakfast was very good but bread could have been better quality. Rooms were quite hot even though heating wasnt on.
Review 96:Meals were excellent especially dinners. Staff were mostly friendly and helpful especially Fraser.
Review 97:Only one chair in room, although would be difficult to rearrange to enable a second. Bathroom ventilation not sufficient to dry the air and towels fully - heated towel rail would help. Minimal information in room. Small things like tending flower baskets better and changing water in vases daily would make a big difference to overall impression.
Review 98:Excellent range and quality of food. Efficient and friendly service, including room cleaning. Good road access and parking. Room, including bathroom, good size and well-equipped.
Review 99:very few things not to like but maybe a little bit more time could be spent cleaning up used ashtrays in the beer garden rather than leaving the used ones on the tables for long periods (i am a smoker myself ) but this could be done a bit more often??
Review 100:dinner &lunch menu choice,beer-garden,bedrooms,helpfulness & friendliness of the staff & general feel of the hotel could not be faulted in any way. Arrived late after trouble with car rental & this wasn't a problem at the hotel not only did they offer us something to eat but let us relax & have a drink before checking into our room, they also allowed us to use the hotel phone to sort out a replacement car the following morning
Review 101:Not much to say negative. It is a modern motel for comfort, fronted by an old pub for enjoyment. Have I reached 200 characters minimum yet? Have I reached 200 characters minimum yet? Have I reached 200 characters minimum yet?
Review 102:Friendly, convenient, quiet, good food. That sums it up. It was easy of access to the motorways, but not in the traffic pits of Tunbridge Wells. I would happily come back to sample yet more of the foods they serve. Select beers on tap were well selected. Have I reached 200 characters minimum yet?
Review 103:Nothing!
Review 104:The hotel had still retained a lot of its old charm, including beamed ceilings whilst having a slightly modern feel. Breakfast was a fantastic selection. Staff were great & even arranged bowls of cheesy chips for us as a late request!
Review 105:Nothing to not like about this establishment.
Review 106:The hotel within a pub has great atmosphere terrific food and menu for an evening meal. The breakfast was also top class with style. The rooms are very comfortable and being at the rear in a separate block there is no noise from the pub at all. Good parking.
Review 107:Nothing specific.
Review 108:We had a very nice night at the Camden Arms. We ate in the restaurant which was excellent with a very good choice. The room was comfortable and I slept well. Breakfast was excellent, overall a thoroughly enjoyable stay and I would recommend the Camden Arms.
Review 109:Absence of a separate lounge to just unwind in. Bedroom had only one chair and was too cramped to spend too long in.
Review 110:Used the hotel/pub as a week long centre to explore Kent's historic houses and castles. This was a good comfortable base where we were made very welcome by both the owners and staff.
Review 111:Breakfast was very poor. Continental style help yourself with cold bacon and golfballs disguised as scrambled eggs. Toaster not working properly and no marmalade (in England!). Bar area and corridors a bit grubby.
Review 112:Beer Garden and bedroom.
Review 113:We thought the breakfast was mediocre. The bacon was hard but not crisp and the scrambled eggs were dry. Apart from the fried eggs everything else was pre-cooked. Indeed after the first day we stuck to cereal and toast.
Review 114:The facilities were spotlessly clean.
Review 115:Everything was clean and we'll maintained. We were very comfortable. A mistake was made with our meal but compensation was very swift. Highly recommended!
Review 116:No bottled water in rooms Restaurant open till 9.30 sat down at 9.15 had starter and main was told could not order sweet as it was past 9.30. As a caterer myself i found that to be totally unacceptable staff poorly trained and ill informed
Review 117:Nothing really it was a nice stay :)
Review 118:Nice place the room was well appointed, there was plenty of parking room and breakfast was fabulous
Review 119:Excellent room, lovely reception area, plenty of facilities not that I had time to experience them sadly
Review 120:Very friendly, easy to get to and park. Great location. Good food.
Review 121:Nothing (apart from going home)!
Review 122:Everything!
Review 123:Great food, great room, great staff
Review 124:The staff ,price ,bedroom and food.Perfect weekend.
