Reviews for Ampersand House
Review 1:Kathryn was a fantastic host and was very friendly and welcoming. We rented the studio flat she has attached to the B&B as we made a last minute booking and the B&B was full. She was amenable and happy for us to arrive outside of the usual hours as coming from London, welcomed us with a bottle of wine upon arrival and served us breakfast the first morning to get us settled. We would highly recommend Ampersand House as a place to stay if visiting Shaftesbury and the Dorset countryside.
Review 2:to say we didnt like something would really just be nit picking
Review 3:we stayed in the studio apartment and it suited our needs perfectly, using it as a base to visit the local areas. Kathryn was wonderful.
Review 4:Being really picky we would have preferred a king size bed. Nothing else.
Review 5:Fantastic B and B very classy with all the facilities you need. Choice of breakfast was great! Ideal spot to explore the beautiful town.
Review 6:This is probably down to perference/our age but a different mattress would have been great, we could feel the springs. Pocket sprung or comfort padding on top would be better.

Review 12:Very friendly welcome, offered a cup of tea/ glass of wine on arrival (Friday early evening). The lounge was a very pleasant space to relax after returning from dinner and kid's bedtime. Can't fault it, would stay there again.
Review 13:Very comfortable and welcoming with coffee and biscuits on arrival which was a nice touch. Bed was comfortable with great space in the room. Near to the main road which some may not like but good secondary glazing stopped and road noise. Very quirky place with nice touches all around. Lovely fresh cooked food.
Review 14:Kathryn made us feel very welcome with her smiley disposition and accommodating attitude. We liked the boutique retro style of the interior. The bedroom and bathroom was very clean and there was a great choice for breakfast using local produce. We enjoyed our stay, thank you.

Review 22:Nothing it was pefect
Review 23:Perfect. Boutique accommodation that could grace the pages of any high end decor magazine. Beautifully put together by Kathryn who clearly has a flair for design and attention to detail. The whole experience from arrival to departure was as good as it gets, our host warm and attentive throughout our stay. The bedroom, large bathroom appointed to a high standard with the same level of attention given to both the bathing products and the tea, coffee and home made Ammoretti biscuits on the welcome tray. Breakfast was exquisite and would have been equally at home in any 5 star hotel, what made the difference is Kathryn who went the extra mile to ensure our stay/experience was perfect in every way.
Review 24:This was our second visit. We received a warm welcome. Our room (Caslon) was comfortable and we had a good night's sleep. Although on a main road the traffic did not keep us awake.

Review 31:Upon arrival my lovely hostess brought me a much needed pot of tea and biscuits. I booked Ampersand to run a local half marathon. I was served a fabulous breakfast (and she even went to the trouble of procuring bananas for me as I mentioned I like them pre-race). Very tastefully appointed and clean room. Just great.
Review 32:Everything was fantastic!
Review 33:Kathryn the host could do enough for you and made feel extremely welcome. It's more like staying at a friends house then staying at a B&B.

Review 52:it is difficult to put a finger on but an earlier check in would have been nice say 14.00 not 16.00 and no easy chairs in the bedroom but other wise no further comments
Review 53:Hot scones with jam and clotted cream on arrival and tea, with lots of information readily available from a very enthusiastic host
Review 54:Nothing

Review 56:We were welcomed by Kathryn who couldn't have been more pleasant. We were shown to our lovely spacious room, which was very tastefully decorated with a huge and very smart bathroom en-suite. We were offered freshly baked scones and tea in the lovely dining room. The bed was extremely comfortable and at breakfast the choice and quality of items available was exceptional. Kathryn couldn't have been more fiendly and we would definitely stay again in the future.

Review 58:Kathryn is very welcoming and friendly and made our stay very pleasant.
Review 59:A warm welcome from Kathryn and her cats to a well-organised house. Scones and tea were offered - and accepted - and served with generous amounts of clotted cream and jam. Bedroom and bathroom were well laid out and well furnished, offering 3 types of tea and fresh milk on request. A comfortable bed, good quality radio, fresh water and home-made amaretti biscuits enhanced the welcome and our stay. Kathryn was helpful regarding dinner options and we followed her recommendation and had a nice pub meal.
Review 60:The House sign board is too small and colour blend in with the pillar. Making it difficult to see while driving, easily go past it.
Review 61:House clean, hostess great, breakfast superb!! Adorable cats.
Review 62:Although situated on main road we found the house hard to spot as Ampersand House shares a driveway with Chalet Hotel next door. ( We missed the email with precise instructions as we were already travelling.)

Review 64:My husband, one year old and I had a wonderful 2 night stay recently. Kathryn was a super host and we felt really well looked after. The breakfast menu was one of the best we have ever seen and we enjoyed every moment of our stay. We highly recommend Ampersand House - it truly is a (very stylish) home away from home.
Review 65:Everything - We have no hesitation in recommending Ampersand House. When we arrived, we were greeted with pavlova and a jug of Pimms. Our room was very spacious with crisp white bedlinen and wonderfully soft towels. A lovely touch was the fresh flowers, hand made biscuits and freshly filtered water. The breakfast selection was excellent with locally sourced produce and freshly baked bread. The owner Kathryn could not have been more welcoming and on a particularly hot day had left iced water and a choice of sorbets for us on our return. The attention to detail and concern for our comfort and enjoyment was second to none. We will definitely be staying again!
