Reviews for The Albany Hotel
Review 1:fantastic hotel. three of us just returned from a weekend stay. on arrival we were welcomed with a welcome smile and a very friendly service and this high level of service continued for the rest of our stay. The couple working at the hotel were very accommodating, attentive and went beyond the service we would expect. the hotel itself is a little dated, but you can tell the very best effort has been made to keep it maintained. the room is warm, comfy and clean with room cleaning given daily. the price of this hotel was by far the cheapest we could find, and excellent value for our money! breakfast was cooked to order and the continental breakfast had a good variety to choose from. overall, a very pleasant and friendly hotel, with staff that are attentive and consider their customers needs beyond their level of duty. will be staying again! highly recommended.
Review 2:Friendly staff but room was dusty with cob webs and mould on the non-slip bath mat. Very uncomfortable bed. Overcharged and they Charged my card for my entire group of friends then when we asked for a refund so we could all pay on our own cards they ended up refunding me £10 less which I only realised after I left.
Review 3:I had to leave
Review 4:From the moment we walked in to the moment we left we were made to feelwelcome all the staff 11/10 rooms food everything was outstanding .
Review 5:I've stayed here many times, and I've never been disappointed, staff are always friendly and helpful. Wouldn't stay anywhere else in Tenby.
Review 6:The hotel is trapped in the 1970's. This type of hotel is why Travelodge and PremierInn do so well
Review 7:The staff were really helpful and friendly and the breakfast was reasonable.
Review 8:Rooms are very dated, and only single glazed onto a busy road.. so traffic kept on waking us and you can hear everything going on in other rooms, floor boards creaking and a very strong smell of bleach as well when we first walked in. So strong our eyes were watering
Review 9:Food, staff,
Review 10:I wish the staff had treated me with respect. I Paid 195 pound to stay there for 3 nights but I couldn't go due to a family emergency I was not offered a minimum of one night's refund, I think this is appalling and shows how insensitive the staff have been to my situation.
Review 11:The location is amazing.
Review 12:Well it's was fine for how much it was to stay there so nothing to moan about as the price was very good would definitely stay there again at the price I paid
Review 13:think this needs major improvement, mould around the bath , bath shower curtain was mouldy, Kettle didn't look appetizing, not impressed
Review 14:location was great, bed comfortable
Review 15:Warm welcome, breakfast was great with plenty of choice. Rooms a little dated, but good for what we paid. Location was good, with fab weather as well made it even better.
Review 16:The only thing I would say if you cant climb stairs ask for a first floor room which I did and they kindly accommodated thank you ?
Review 17:The hotel was within walking distance of the centre the bed was comfortable we had a good nights sleep and the breakfast was really good we would stay again
Review 18:Whole place is dated and looked old. Was ok for one night but we wouldn't have stayed more than that. Unfortunately not worth what we paid.
Review 19:Staff were lovely, welcoming and friendly and the breakfast was more than satisfactory.
Review 20:Room was really needing an upgrade, silicone around bath quite mouldy, floor was not flat, it generally needed an overhaul, radiator noisy so sounded like constant dripping, and very thin walls, so quite noisy
Review 21:The service was brilliant! Very friendly staff and good location
Review 22:I had dirty cup in my room :/ "strange". shouldn`t be like that.
Review 23:Nice room, very good location, but contact..it shouldn`t be like that it was/happened: the telephone numbers given at website and also with sms and also at the door of the hotel they didn`t work out:/ al least one number-third one- was ok:/ as about clean..not the best. but - for not demanding people - ok
Review 24:Very tired room and communal areas upstairs. Our room smelled of damp. The floor was uneven resulting in anything placed on bedside drawers sliding off onto the floor. Bathroom very dated with a hole in the floor. Wallpaper was peeling off the walls. Didn't appreciate the many signs and warnings placed in the room and handbook, e.g. If you flush a toilet wipe you will be charged £500, if you lose a key you will be charged £150. Although only £65 (without breakfast), this is expensive when compared relatively to the other establishments that we have stayed at nearby.
Review 25:Very friendly staff. Great communication via text, letting us know when the room was ready.
Review 26:problem with shower water temperature, either very hot or freezing cold. toilet seat loose.
Review 27:comfortable king size bed, good night sleep. room divided in to two rooms. bedroom and living room. breakfast very good.
Review 28:The hotel is very dated and needs modernising. Cracked glass in bedroom window and shower head didn't fit in the fixture properly. £75 is a bit expensive for such a dated hotel!!
Review 29:The staff were really friendly
Review 30:As it's an old building the floors can be creaky. Nothing that should put you of staying here though.
Review 31:Such friendly welcoming hosts. Lovely breakfast, great value and location. Would happily return.
Review 32:The room would have been cramped for two, there was only one chair squeezed in under the television. The bathroom and bath needed some repair. The floorboards overhead creaked alarmingly but then it is an old building.
Review 33:Comfortable beds, spotless linen, friendly owners and staff, good cooked breakfast. The location was just out of the main town centre but close to the prettiest harbour views.
Review 34:the whole place could do with a bit of smartening up, but I guess that is reflected in the price.
Review 35:very friendly and helpful staff, a good breakfast, and good central location. Good value for what it offers
Review 36:door wouldnt shut so had to lock it, bath yellow, sink and toilet also didnt match, damp, condensation with metal framed windows, hotel needs redecorating as very poor condition of walls and woodwork.
Review 37:The only down side was that the Wi-Fi wouldn't work on my phone but that was non essential.
Review 38:The staff were very helpful. Lovely food and the bed was lovely and comfortable, I slept like a log :) Overall a very comfortable and friendly hotel and I will definitely book again.
Review 39:Hotel room verry small,in need of a good revamp, verry out dated, cost more per night than seafront hotel we stayed at a month ago.
Review 40:Good location friendly staff,
Review 41:Loose floorboards in the common parts made me wonder about the fire integrity of the building.
Review 42:Was able to put my bike in my room. Friendly staff. Great breakfast.
Review 43:bathrooms were a bit dated and could do with a make over
Review 44:The rooms were large and beds were comfy, clean bed sheets and towels. Nice food and friendly owners, central to the town and close to the beach.
Review 45:General age/state of repair of furniture/décor/utilities in bedrooms. 'Rushed' feeling at breakfast (crockery cleared away too eagerly, before some members of party had finished dining!)
Review 46:Location, and friendliness of some of the duty staff.
Review 47:Room was a little small especially the bathroom as the shower was too small for a 6ft person.
Review 48:Really good location, nice games area and out door patio. Staff were really pleasant.
Review 49:Wi-fi only available on the ground floor - and the pass code needed to be asked for instead of being in the welcome pack.
Review 50:Friendliness of the staff and their keeness to ensure we had a good stay. Breakfast was very good - fab choice and good quality produce.
Review 51:I wouldn't rate it as 2* no lifts, lots of stairs, i asked for a shower as i have arthritis in my knees, after i had climbed up four flights of stairs, the bathroom did have a shower, but it was so high to get in, my husband had to actually assist me in and out, no hand rail or anything, really not great, and i am relatively fit !!
Review 52:It was available at short notice !
Review 53:bed was ready to fall down bath room was hanging toillet coming from floor none of door shut bathroom main door to room had big gap
Review 54:the staff were ok facilities down stairs ok
Review 55:They could do with sum work done as for looking at new windows and paint work and just jeneral repairs in the rooms
Review 56:It was lovely stay not far from the beach and shops
Review 57:Facilities were a bit dated but ideal for a weekend break, would stay again.
Review 58:Owners were really friendly and welcoming, the bed was really comfortable and the room was clean.
Review 59:The decor in the room was worn and tired, much looked like it hadn't been improved since the 70's. We had a huge bay window which was a lovely feature to the room, however, above this was numerous damp patches, which were also located around the room. The wallpaper in the room is also flaking off. Myself and my partner said to ourselves, 'its okay- we'll make the most of it. But things got worse!! Our bathroom was very outdated with the door being extremely hard to open, the toilet was lopsided, along with the smallest mirror ever. You could even see the shape of a larger mirror that used to be there. The shower curtain was white which had stains all down it. The carpet within the room was sticky. Leaving to out for a lovely meal, we tried locking the door which was very difficult as the whole lock was falling off. All it needs is screwing back on which doesn't take more than 5 minutes. It really is the little things that amounts to very big things! £75 a night is an absolute rip off. I would never go back or recommend this hotel to anyone.
Review 60:Honestly - the only thing we liked was the location of the hotel. However, there was no parking available.
Review 61:Bath, but no shower. Door to room didn't look particularly secure. Couldn't work out how to open my window - suspect this may not have been possible.
Review 62:Close to Tenby beaches and town centre, but far away to enough ensure any nightlife wouldn't invade my sleep. Lovely, helpful and very friendly hotel staff. Comfortable bed - slept like a baby.
Review 63:Reception when we arrived had an odd smell perhaps stale beer. Room 26 - window was broken (used t shirt to wedge open as it was v hot but rattleing when trying to sleep). Perhaps cheer up beer garden with a few plants.
Review 64:The gentleman owner was a fab host. great location, breakfast facilities were fab. room was clean. Just what we needed.
Review 65:Read a little bad reviews about this hotel so was a bit sceptical in booking but had a lovely stay. Hotel is in an excellent location, 2 minutes walk to Tenby town centre and the beach! hotel is a little dated due to it being an old building, but most seaside hotels are! bedroom was clean and comfortable, spacious room with a little tv and two chairs also. Lovely staff at the Albany, bar was lovely and the beer garden was a suntrap! will definitely return to the Albany in the future!
Review 66:The hotle is in a perfect location to visit tenby town. The bathroom could have done with a little bit of renovating and the shower runs hot and cold sometimes so you need to be careful not to burn maybe because a lot of other guests were showering at that time around 8am. There was no hairdryer in the room but the staff quickly and efficiently rectified that for us. The breakfast in te morning is lovely. A perfectly situated hotel for a short break away.
Review 67:The Albany Hotel is perfect for short breaks as it's within walking distance to the beautiful beach and town. The hotel is also ran by a lovely couple.
Review 68:The radiator was on stilts ,no cover on light in bathroom quilt dirty and stained if you look inside the duvet, just a shambles very disappointed the sealing needs doing and the bathroom floor had a hole in it by the sink good job it had thick vinyl you would have gone through it the bathroom needs gutting
Review 69:Nothing
Review 70:The room was rather tired and in need of updating. Certain things needed attention. However, this did not spoil our stay.
Review 71:Hosts were very pleasant and accommodating. Beds were very comfortable and clean. Breakfast was very good.
Review 72:Bit noisy in the mornings when everybody is getting up.
Review 73:Great location, nice bright room but most of all the owners were amazing, really lovely, friendly and helpful people, made our stay!
Review 74:The owners demanded a 10 pound deposit then went into all our accounts the week before we due to arrive and took payments out of a few of our bank accounts and the lady at the hotel is very rude on the phone to you
Review 75:The breakfast was lovley
Review 76:The receptionist was very abrupt, wasn't customer friendly or willing to be helpful.
Review 77:The price, location in Tenby and close proximity to the South Beach.
Review 78:The wifi didn't really reach my room. I had to go to reception to use it.
Review 79:The lovely atmosphere in the reception area was the best! The owner was so kind, always there to help and make sure you are enjoying your stay. I loved the room and the bed was really comfy!
Review 80:Rooms were cramped, shower was a tad dingy and shower head only reached my shoulders, (I'm only 6.2 ft).
Review 81:Service was great, enjoyed having a pool table down stairs.
Review 82:terrible smell in the bathroom when we first arrived, but gone later. Need a mirror nearer to a plug for hair drying - us girls need to see what we are doing! ditto for a mirror/chair or stool to apply make up!
Review 83:Close to Tenby town centre, we stayed on a quiet night, owners were pleasant and welcoming.
Review 84:May bank holiday was a chilly the room and the bath room was cold there was some heating on for about five hours and that was it . The hotel rooms and windows were very tired very basic i am glad i did not take a lady with me i would have been very embarrassed . Have had much better for my money ( £ 65 a night )
Review 85:Being close to the town
Review 86:Bathroom suite was very old and tired. Rooms are cheaply decorated. Coffee was awful!
Review 87:B&b has bar, room with pool table, darts & games. Seated area out back which was in the sun. 2min walk to town. A few spaces to park outside other wise can park on North beach for £3 all day!
Review 88:Desperate need of refurbishment. Ceilings very thin, could hear guests above talking etc.
Review 89:Staff were very friendly, the bar was good. Great location. Spacious room, clean linen and towels. Value for money and perfect for a nights stay.
Review 90:I didn't like the parking. Our bed was very uncomfortable and the shower was very dirty and old. I also thought the bar was limted having only two draught pumps. The bullding itself is very old and could do with renovating.
Review 91:I liked the location and breakfast.
Review 92:Bathroom and bathroom tiles
Review 93:Breakfast was very good as was the breakfast room.Rooms need updating badly repaint retiling avacado bathroom suite took me back to the 70s but all in all cheap price paid so no complaints bedding was nice and fresh/clean.
Review 94:Room was badly decorated wardrobe collapsing, window frames had black mould, floor was completely uneven it was just a horrible room to stay in and if we'd had a choice we would have moved hotel but Tenby was busy this weekend
Review 95:Tenby
Review 96:Too many cobwebs, dirty marks in baths and on shower curtains, dirty sink with enamel cracked like crazy paving. Comfy chair very shaky, scared to sit on in case it broke.
Review 97:Location good,staff friendly, a comfortable place.
Review 98:Just the bed fell apart when my partner sat on it and he tried to fix it a few times
Review 99:Good for the price but one of the beds fell apart as soon as my partner sat down on it and he fixed it 3 times which was only let down. Good location helpful staff and clean rooms
Review 100:We would have liked an iron in the room but that is all.
Review 101:The location was perfect for sightseeing around Tenby and it had everything we needed for a one night stay.
Review 102:Bed was uncomfortable and broken on right hand side. Bath had cracks all around it and the side panel was hanging off. The hot water tap was rusted and you had to use force to shut it off. Signs of damp, ceiling paper coming away.
Review 103:Location to the beach and town center was brilliant
Review 104:Would have liked to be informed of the access to free wifi on entry as not all take time to read guest book.
Review 105:Lovely and tastey cooked breakfast with a bar if you feel like a beer or wine at the hotel
Review 106:The staff at the hotel made us feel at home instantly. I would recommend this hotel, it's location is a stones throw away from the town. And a 7 minute drive from the Heatherton theme park which we went to during our stay. The receptionist helped us with the number of a taxi service and basically anything else we wanted they were there to make our stay as enjoyable as possible.
Review 107:bed was not comfy, tele was very small and the toilet worked on saniflow so could get quite noisy
Review 108:breakfast was amazing lovely people could not complain at all.
Review 109:Possibly in need of revamp but to be fair it's good value for the money, clean and the customer service was excellent
Review 110:Superb customer service and really good breakfast
Review 111:The room was clean but needed upgrading, there were black patches of damp on the ceilings. The bathroom light was sitting in the bath!! I didn't sleep as I could hear every creak, every door opening, and people talking.
Review 112:The owners and staff were very welcoming and hospitable.
Review 113:I arranged for myself,my brother and friend to stay overnight in Tenby for my 20th Birthday. This is the first time I have gone away for my birthday and it was the best ever. The staff were the friendliest hotel staff I have yet to meet and I will definately return there at some time for another short break. I will also have no hesitation in recommending the Albany to my family and friends. Thanks so much everyone.
Review 114:Was put in a room with a bath but the shower was on such a short pipe that had to sit in the bath to wash hair. Everything was clean but there was longstanding mildew round the bathroom fittings, and a taped up hole in the wall. The mattress on the bed was obviously old and saggy. The radiator was broken and an electric temporary heater was supplied (which worked fine)
Review 115:Nice breakfast and great location. Staff very friendly and helpful. This is a good option for young couples who don't mind a few minor discomforts to save a bit of money. Less than a minute to the beach, and a couple of minutes to the high street. Parking is a few mins walk away but is free in winter or £2/day in peak season.
Review 116:We had a good night sleep till I got woke up at 1,30am by some one staying up above us they fell out of bed and thought they were coming through the ceiling not just the once it happened a second time, the noise went on till 3am if this never happened I would have had a good night sleep
Review 117:The staff were lovely, and was close to the town, the room was basic but was ideal for what we needed it for
Review 118:Internet only on the ground floor, which is a problem while you don't have signal in most of the places in that area and you want to know where you are on a map etc. When I wanted to make a research I had to do everything sitting in front of reception.
Review 119:I really liked the staff who always smile to you and are very helpful. Even spent a while talking to the owner about travelling and life in Great Britain. Also told me where to spend last day.
Review 120:Extremely friendly staff, made us feel very welcome which led to a warm and personal feel around the hotel. The breakfast in the morning was very enjoyable.
Review 121:In my opinion not worth the £60 a night that was paid, breakfast was nice but small, all fire alarms were painted over, but scary
Review 122:Very comfy bed and polite staff
Review 123:The bathroom floor slanted which made us feel a bit sick. There was a step into the bathroom but no warning sign, I fell into the bathroom on first use. No extractor fan which made the bedroom a bit smelly. The shower ran off the taps and was extremely temperamental temperature wise. The toilet wouldnt flush properly. We booked a double room but got two single beds pushed together with a big ridge in the middle. The bedroom window was half boarded up making the room quite dark and oppressive. There was noise from the kitchen i.e a radio playing loudly from 8.30 in the morning and loud music from the bar/kitchen from late afternoon. There was no dressing table and the tea provided tasted absolutely foul.
Review 124:The location was good close to the seafront and cheap parking close by.
Review 125:Room very poorly maintained, bath room poorly maintained ,blocked bath, Man serving breakfast on Sunday morning does not have any manners or a smile.
Review 126:Owners were very pleasant
Review 127:The location was great, staff were lovely. Breakfast was lovely, we were a bit disappointed with the rooms, needs updating/decorating but we were only in them to sleep and get changed so suited us, good value for money.
Review 128:rooms are pretty crummy, but clean and adequate - fine if you aren't going to spend much waking time there - which we didn't
Review 129:host was very affable - dining and lounge areas are great - breakfast was good, Good location near north beach/town centre. Prices enabled the whole extended family to come and we had a great time
Review 130:A very welcoming Hotel only 5 minutes walk into town, the Staff we met we're cheerful and helpful,Room was a bit tired but clean and the bed very comfortable, The Lounge and bar had a nice atmosphere and was very comfortable,An overal nice experience and would definitely stay again. thanks
Review 131:Bed- booked a double room got 2 single beds pushed together very uncomfortable if I wanted a twin I would have booked a twin and saved £29!!!!! Too many stairs no lift!!, very old and dated is in desperate need of a upgrade/make over.... Way over priced!!!
Review 132:Large room, location, nice and warm,
Review 133:I chose the Albany Hotel specifically for its location to my preferred destination when staying at Tenby. The next time it will be because of the excellent welcome and cheerful manners of the owners as soon as I entered the hotel. They made you feel welcome straight away and I enjoyed everything about my stay at the Albany. Will most certainly stay there again in the near future as it felt very homely at all times.
Review 134:I found the lady at reception un-welcoming and abrupt.
Review 135:The location an breakfast was fabulous I had a brilliant stay. The hotel owners were very accommodating and friendly. Room was comftable too.
