Reviews for Résidence les Balcons de l'Yse
Review 1:Nice place sorrounded by the pyrinees. If you are a fanatic of cyclism you will be in the paradise. Col du Tourmalet and Luz Ardiden are two samples of climbs that you can enjoy due to the fact that the residence is close to the beginings of many Tour de France climb.
Review 2:The sofa couldn t be slept on and the cooker had only 2 hobs , the sink had no draining board. Really needs a kettle.
Review 3:The location is great. Nice views from the balcony. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Review 4:Could have had a restaurant and maybe wifi in the rooms, not just standing outside reception.
Review 5:Perfect location - great staff - great self catering facilities, just a pity there is no restaurant too. Would go back tomorrow
Review 6:Comfortable, spacious accommodation. Great views and set in a relaxing environment. Close to town. Excellent value for money at €30 a night in the off season.
Review 7:Would have liked wi fi in room but this is not a hotel in a block so understand not having it
Review 8:Good facilities, good staff team - great pastries for breakfast
Review 9:The road up to the apartments from the town was quite dangerous with ice, not gritted until the next day so needed snow chains back on to get up in the evening.
Review 10:The views were spectacular, the apartments were very warm well equipped and comfortable, good shower.
Review 11:Wifi is only available in reception.
Review 12:The location is perfect for cycling. Tourmalet, Luz Ardiden, Hautacam...... The beds are comfortable and you can relax at the swimming pool after a hard day of sport. There is plenty of parking spaces available. Furthermore, the staff was very friendly and helpful. I will repeat the experience for sure!
Review 13:Location was tricky finding the GPS for the first time did not help It would be desirable to improve the site to find the address
Review 14:Great view, nice apartment, is equipped with everything needed Nice staff, and very helpful
Review 15:Wi-Fi only available in reception lounge which is closed from noon till 16:00 Condo entrance needed vacuuming
Review 16:Ask for the mountain/valley view Free parking Recreational facilities - pool, exercise room, sauna, etc. Kitchen adequate - a little Spartan Balcony (needed chairs & table) We had a 3rd floor unit with dormers meaning the roof sloped inward - mind your head - we had asked for a great view and got it.
Review 17:Poorly equipped kitchen - no glasses and limited tableware. Sofa had badly damaged upholstery (I turned the cushions over). Wifi was in reception area only. No closet - no place to hang clothes at all.
Review 18:Location. View. Friendly staff. Good bedding. Lots of space. Nice shower. Good value even with the problems, which weren't bad enough to spoil the visit.
Review 19:2 of the 3 bed rooms were very small with small bunkbeds. For a group of 6 people is too small to store all your belongings.
Review 20:Clean apartment and friendly and helpful staff. Excellent location for bicycle trips.
Review 21:Bed and pillows are of a low quality. Not having wi-fi in the appartments (only in the common areas, far away) is a big disadvantage.
Review 22:The place is very nice. We had a room with a nice view over the village. We arrived a bit earlier than required and staff helped us with a fast check-in, calling when room was available.
Review 23:Small bed, which is remarkable considering the available space. Hall/stairs leading to the apartments not clean. Our apartment had a marvelous view but some apartments are facing trees.
Review 24:Spacious apartment. Nice walk into town. Professional (English speaking) and helpful personnel who resolved a booking problem.
Review 25:Apartment was dirty when we arrived. Looked like it wasn't cleaned since the prior guests left. Couch in the living room torn, impossible to sit on. The apartment situated on the second floor with no elevator.
Review 26:The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Review 27:Water only ever luke warm for shower/bath Sofa badly ripped No tea/coffee making facilities - had to boil water in a pan Pillows filled with foam pieces, more like sofa cushions, very uncomfortable and disturbed our sleep. Please buy some proper pillows!
Review 28:Location Cleanliness Layout of apartment Facilities of residence
Review 29:What a weekend. We arrived late but the staff met us on the road and signed us in so couldn't have been more helpful. A fantastic location for a cycling holiday and apart from the 15% gradient up to the hotel, which after a day in the saddle you certainly feel, a perfect location.
Review 30:The location was very quiet, the views are wonderful, and an easy walk into town. The apartment was clean, bathroom facilities clean with lots of hot water. The front staff were very friendly, even happy to keep the pool open later for those who wanted to keep swimming.
Review 31:Although we did not mind, the location (up a bit of a hill from the town) might be hard for anyone with mobility issues. We enjoyed the 5 minute walk, but I don't know if everyone would! Also, be sure to bring your own coffee filters for the coffee maker!
Review 32:The location is great for bike rides (we visited in the summer), and has a beautiful view. The staff were friendly and helpful. The apartment itself was comfortable, and had everything we needed.
Review 33:Wifi is only from 0900-2100 and, at least when we were there, slow most of the time. Wifi is only in the lobby area. Floors in the apartment needed to be washed when we checked in, which we did ourselves. Beds are a little on the stiffer side, but if you travel with your own pillows, you shouldn't notice.
Review 34:The location and view from the apartments is amazing, which makes up for some of the little things missing. The swimming pool and common area is really nice, especially having school aged children. The apartments are sized nice, and the parking is adequate.
Review 35:The construction was a bit odd..doors bump into doors; rooms small and a bit cramped for more than two people. (Think Paris apartment, in terms of size, not a mountain resort.) Bring pillows if you are a pillow snob. Sheets are packaged from a local laundry and dropped. You must make your beds. Also, in order to not pay cleaning fee you must strip beds, wash and clean kitchen, and take out trash and recyclables. Not a big deal. Beds firm, but we didn't lack sleep over it. The Residence is located on a steep hill, on a narrow road. Quite possible to walk to town while getting a good workout. You will only be given a used sponge, dishwasher soap tablet for one night, and one roll of toilet paper. Bring your own (almost) everything. (There are basic dishes, pans, cutting board, knives, and mandatory cork screw.) Throw in some folding outdoor chairs for your balcony. Bummer there is no Carrefour specials on the balconies. One plus is the coffee maker. There is a built-in filter but you can bring cone-shaped filters if you don't want to clean the one that came with the maker. We have Apple products of a few years old and were never able to tap into the Internet in the reception area. C'est la vie. No Internet in the mountains.
Review 36:We travel extensively throughout the continent and stay in apartments whenever possible. This accommodation is small, bare-bones, but where it lacks charm, it makes up in the fantastic view of the valley and friendly reception. Secure bike storage for cyclists.
Review 37:No Wi-Fi in the apartments (only in lounge), rock-hard mattress, a bit far to walk into town
Review 38:Views, location, spaciousness of the apartment, well equipped, friendly staff, well organised, amazing value for the money
Review 39:Well located, next to the start of a 5-hour walking trail to the neighbouring Bareges. Nice and engaging people, working/living in and around
Review 40:The WiFi didn't work
Review 41:THE LOCATION
Review 42:would be good to have wifi in room or be open later than 9pm. GPS found it impossible to find!
Review 43:beautiful views, helpful staff, nice communal area
Review 44:Very dark and tight parking. Instructions of what to do with garbage and checking out should be clearer
Review 45:Perfect for biking and loved the town
Review 46:Until you get there is difficult to realise how far it is from the city center.
Review 47:Nice views, cute swimming pool
Review 48:Beds veryhard
Review 49:Staff excellent, very very helpful when we had a car problem
Review 50:Scenery, access to nearby mountains, Lourdes, Tarbes, Pau. Excellent self catering facilities.
Review 51:The pillows
Review 52:Nice and comfort.
Review 53:some internal (minor cosmetic) finishes still needed to be completed
Review 54:location and new feel
Review 55:Would have liked wifi in the apartment
Review 56:Views were amazing.
Review 57:Needs to be a kettle in the apartment.
Review 58:No kettle or wine glasses, and uncomfortable bed
Review 59:The view from balcony
Review 60:mattresses
Review 61:Nothing.
Review 62:Big, well equiped apartment. Quiet. Helpful staff.
Review 63:The kitchen was to small to cook for 5 people.
Review 64:Location, friendly staff, spacy.
Review 65:Would liked to have an electrical kettle
Review 66:Everything
Review 67:Nothing
Review 68:Friendly staff, great facilities, very clean with wonderful views. Will stay here again.
Review 69:stuff very rude, unhelpful. did not provide with barely any necessities
Review 70:location
Review 71:it is must to know that if you will not cleaning the apartment before check out you will pay 35 euro more.
Review 72:Bit far from centre than we had hoped. Nothing in English on TV.
Review 73:Basic but very clean and organised. Spa facilities (which unfortunately we had no time to use). Spectacular view over Luz-Saint-Sauveur
Review 74:No internet in rooms
Review 75:Great place with all facilities including sauna and pool. The appartment is fully equipt. Anna was so great helping us in anything we asked.
Review 76:Maybe it was a bit far from the town center so that we have to go down for a drink or dinner.
Review 77:The place where stands. The appartment is really clean, big and well furbished. Great views and even a swimming pool
Review 78:Bed was a little small and rather hard.
Review 79:Basic apartment but very clean and with all facilities required for a good price. Fantastic view from the balcony and Great location for climbing the col du tourmalet by bike. Was nice to use the small pool for a quick swim.
Review 80:We chose this resort because we believed it had a hot thermal pool. It was stone cold. This was a big disappointment as we had driven all the way from Perpignan and were exhausted. We had to make our beds before we could go to sleep.
Review 81:This was clean, well equipped, with nice views. The heaters had been turned on before our arrival.
Review 82:Unfortunately no washing machine in apartment and only one at reception.Competition for washing machine and dryer.
Review 83:Great little apartment. We were upgraded at no extra cost. Superb views.Very modern and comfortable.
Review 84:A kettle and some mugs would come in handy to fix that morning cup of tea/coffee and later to warm up after some trekking in the cold.
Review 85:Simply one of the best places I've ever stayed in! Stunning mountain and valley views overlooking the charming town below. Silvia, the owner/manager kindly kept waiting for us until we arrived safe and sound at a rather late 9.45pm and in the morning she took her time to give us some useful information. Anyone driving the scenic route way should keep in mind to start early. Also check about traffic updates as some roads are closed due to ongoing roadworks. When coming from Bareges, do not drive to the Luz Sant Sauveur town centre but keep on the main road until you see a sign on a street corner with the name Astes (and another that I can't momentarily remember). Drive to your left up a hill, pass a tiny bridge and just further on to your right there you'll find the Résidence les Balcons de l'Yse. In the 3 nights of our stay we did not have the time to use the swimming pool sauna and relaxing area but from what I'd seen all are good enough. This accomodation is an excellent base if you want to explore the majestic surrounding regions. If I have the opportunity I would definitely stay at Résidence les Balcons de l'Yse another time!
Review 86:Bed ridiculously hard, toilet not in bathroom but downstairs, no kettle and had to use coffee maker or microwave to make a cup of tea. Tiny cups for drinking from - give me mugs. Shower did not drain properly. How about some hooks on back of doors for hanging bathrobes. No outdoor furniture on deck. Not properly finished - no extractor fan in the bathroom. Superfically looks great but I think they may have run out of money.
Review 87:Location great, quiet and after we found it - easily accessible. View from deck. Water pressure of shower. swimming pool
Review 88:- apartment needs to be cleaned by guest (or contracted for fee) which is a bit inconvenient when only staying for a few nights
Review 89:- good size apartment - good value for money - great view from apartment
Review 90:Due to the hotel's policy, we needed to choose between cleaning the place before leaving or paying 35euros to a cleaner. This should have been written in the reservation of booking, and it wasn't.
Review 91:The view is great The apartment is new and comfortable
Review 92:This will be a fine place to stay - when it is finished, which it is not! The furnishings are sparse. The dishwasher is impossible to figure out. I would wait a year for them to work out the kinks, then try it.
Review 93:Lots of space. Nice view from the balcony. It seems far from town, but is an easy walk - once you figure out the shortcuts.
Review 94:Beds were incredibly hard so much so that I think possibly th mattress was upside down! It was like sleeping on the floor....very very uncomfortable. We also had to make our beds- would have preferred this to be done. Had to pack up linen and towels and fold into bags at end as well. Also did own cleaning- was €35 to have it done but chose to do it- were aware of this beforehand though. Pool was not heated as element not working
Review 95:Location and views were outstanding. We could see over the whole town. Good size apartment with separate toilet to bathroom and it also had a washbasin in it. Dishwasher a bonus. Communal lounge area great with pool table tea/coffee and chill out zone downstairs with music and cushions very nice. Good pool but not heated as broken unfortunately nice sauna and gym area too. Good free parking on site and near room. Washing machine available for €4 and free use of dryer.
Review 96:Beds are uncomfortable, and so are the pillows, low quality. Very minimalistic furnituring, e.g., no shleves in the bathroom, no hooks.
Review 97:We had a large apartment, enough space. Great view to the valley around. Fair distance to the village.
Review 98:No information about the hours that the reception is open. We were heldup arriving at the hotel and almost missed the closing hour. Wi-fi inthe reception area only. Hotel far from city center.
Review 99:The apart-hotel is new and spacious, with a view of the mountains.
Review 100:No wifi in the apartments - only near the reception.
Review 101:Good location, nice flat, heated swimming pool, billiard near the reception, friendly stuff. And they provided duvets, not only sheets as usual.
Review 102:You should bring your soap and toilet paper with you... Restaurants in Luz are often overcrowded.
Review 103:Simply good apart hotel in mountains. Close to all local points of interests.
Review 104:35 Euro end-of-stay cleaning fee. No wifi in the apartment. I booked an apartment for 4 persons (no age limit in booking.com) 3 months before arrival for 2 adults + 14 years old child. To my suprise on spot I was informed that the apartment is for 2 adults and 2 children up to 4 years (3 days before my arrival was sent e-mail to me, but I couldn't read it during trip). Eventually, we've had apartment with one bedroom with double-bed & dinning room with 2-person sofa (sofa was rather comfortless). It looks like director of the hotel doesn't know, what exactly rents & what advertises on booking.com
Review 105:good localisation big apartment nad fully equipped
Review 106:No balcony furniture No wifi in rooms
Review 107:Location and views Layout of apartments in blocks of four, many with their own entrance Individual parking spaces New development, clean and modern
Review 108:Wifi is only available in the lobby, but it's better than nothing.
Review 109:The staff was wonderful. Our luggage was lost in flight and Sylvia andJoseba helped us communicate with the airlines and genuinely cared aboutour plight as we waited four days for it to arrive. We stayed anadditional three nights because of the hospitality and location. It's out of the main downtown area, which makes it more private andquite. We loved the atmosphere. Views are amazing. You can hear theriver as you fall asleep. It's a short walk from town. The apartment-like setting was really nice because of the extra space and amenities.
Review 110:Great value for money, we rented a two bedroom apartment with living room/kitchen and balcony. The apartment had a superb view over the village and the mountain. Very clean, well maintained. Friendly staff.
Review 111:Nothing really.
Review 112:Great location, really helpful and friendly staff. The place had a sauna and pool which was great to relax in however the apartments could be better equipped e.g. storage in bathroom, more hooks in the bathroom to hang towels/clothes etc, kettle, toaster, chairs for balcony, full length mirror somewhere. The place is relatively new so no doubt things will be updated as they progress, especially adding wifi to the rooms. Its a great place to stay, unbelievable view from the really large balconies - pure bliss!
Review 113:Wonderful staff. Extremely helpful when booking activities. Great location away from the village (up the hill) yet close enough to walk down to cafes and shops. Great views across the valley. Brand new apartments with well equipped kitchen and comfortable beds. Great sauna and indoor pool. Nice common room with pool table and large screen tv. Very pleasant and welcoming atmosphere
Review 114:- nothing
Review 115:+ location close to all great places in Park of Pyrenees + nice village nearby with shops, restaurants and walk roads + good value for money + free parking + good pool& sauna included in price + very clean place
Review 116:No wifi in the apartment. But you can always use the internet in the relaxing area/saloon next to the reception.
Review 117:The apartments are spacious, fully equipped, with big balconies and stunning views.... The owners are very friendly and helpful. It is in a walking distance from the town, so you can easily get in 15 minutes to the restaurant or supermarket.
Review 118:Our stay was a great experience. The staff was most helpful. After a day of hiking we were delighted to use the sauna and the indoor swimming pool. The gym was also a hit. The general areas are quite large and cozy. The hostess makes sure there is fresh coffee for free. The apartments itself are luxurious for the price. Very clean, modern and with a dishwasher ! We loved our stay there
Review 119:Local busses are sparse in the evening, which isn't good forwalkers.
Review 120:We used this as a base for a lot of hill/mountain walks. It's right on the gr10, which we used to walk to Barege. It's also a short bus ride from Cirque de Gavernie. Theapartment is brand new, and with a functioning kitchen, which isgood if you want to prepare your own meals like we do. The staffwere helpful and lent us maps of the area.
Review 121:Most of the apartments offer scenic views overlooking the beautiful Pyreneés mountains and the charming Saint Sauveur. The family who runs the Residence was very helpful and we enjoyed a relaxing stay with them.
Review 122:Staff were new and had to ask for a number of items that should have been in the appartment
Review 123:Cosy warm comfotable appartment with balcony overlooking mountains-with great indoor pool, sauna and gym
Review 124:Nothing. Everything was excellent.
Review 125:The staff was extremey welcoming and helpfull. The location is great for people wanting to see the Cirque de Gavarnie. The appartments are brand new and well equipped.
Review 126:Just could not be better ! The multilingual staff are excellent . Very helpfull and resourcefull. The position and the views are stunning. Will be back sometime .
Review 127:Everything was OK.
Review 128:The equipment of the apartment. Very complete and good deal taking into account that it is not easy to find a budget apartment for a couple.
Review 129:No wifi in rooms
Review 130:Good place
Review 131:No WiFi in rooms, although I was told there was.
