Reviews for Morton Guesthouse
Review 1:If you do not like what is typical British, including the noisy WC (because a macerator inside), a noisy radiator, two taps for cold and hot water bath-room into the room..you can have some problem
Review 2:If you like what is "typical British!" you will love it. Owners are OK! Parking.
Review 3:There was not enough parking so had to park on a pub down the road but this was not a big issue
Review 4:We were very welcomed and the guest house was very cosy and warm and had everything that we needed
Review 5:A very small but honest only negative for us was that we had a double bed rather than 2 singles which we had confirmed as required when we booked well in advance. However this was not a big deal so we did not raise it with them and it wont stop us staying there again. The room was near the entrace so our expected last minute late arrival may have caused the room choice to lessen effect on others.
Review 6:We were late arrivals but this is well catered for by Pete and Julie. No fuss nice accomodation with a great full english breakfast served extra early as we were attending a track day. Try the honey from their own hive and the home made brown bread. Both very yummy! If we need accomodation near Donington Circuit I will be back. Thanks for a lovely stay.
Review 7:Parking not really available if drive bigger than a hatchback Door had window above it without blind so sun shone in and woke you up whether wanted to or not
Review 8:breakfast choice of tv channels in room
Review 9:Staying at the Morton Guesthouse was a lovely experience, the owners were extremely friendly and welcoming, and the place had a lovely homely feel to it. Room was more than sufficient, tea and coffee services, comfy double bed, wifi and ensuite bathroom. Breakfast was great, there was nothing I wanted that they couldn't supply. Would 100% stay here again if I was in the area.
Review 10:The only downside was the close proximity of the road.
Review 11:My wife is disabled and struggled up the step into the bathroom Peter went out of his way to build a small step to help my wife, which he gave to us as we left in case we could use it again.
Review 12:There was nothing negative to say about this property.
Review 13:Stayed here as it was in an excellent location for visiting Donington Park. Everything about the stay was very good and I would certainly recommend to other people. The couple that owned the Guest house were friendly and welcoming. The room was of a high standard.
Review 14:We stayed in the front bedroom and I don't think it's designed for people over 5'8. I'm 6'2 and struggled fitting in the bed or using the shower or bathroom facilities comfortably. There was also a 3% surcharge for card payments, which was not advertised in any way as far as I could see.
Review 15:The breakfast was delicious, especially the homemade bread. Stayed before going to Download Festival in Donnington so was ideally located and they were extremely helpful.
Review 16:Room i was in faced main road and was noisy ear plugs were supplied but did not use
Review 17:Staff very helpful as i was a late arrival after 9 arranged for keys to be left in safe box with instructions to get in and to room.
Review 18:None
Review 19:Traditional B&B with optional breakfast which suited me. There were notes everywhere, but then I just figured that FAQs don't just need to be on a website but where they might be useful and make a difference. That sounds like a moan but isn't; Morton was old-fashioned with a bit of thought behind that, and the owners were very unobtrusive. Ideally located for East Midlands airport, the cost of an overnight stay, leaving your car parked for free in a nearby street and using the Skylink bus should pay for the room and save an extra 20 or 30 quid. Good local pubs nearby as well
Review 20:Have never slept in a garden shed before! Try and avoid the annex rooms behind the main building. Whilst clean and tidy enough - it it a bit like sleeping in a shed - cold [suspect damp] and lots of garden spiders. You'' need the electric heater on all night and the bed, whilst clean fresh sheets felt damp and un-aired. get a room in the main building and for what you pay, you'll get a decent if basic stay
Review 21:Decent basic 3* SA accomodation Tasty breakfast Does what it says on the tin
Review 22:Julie and Pete were perfect hosts, full of good local information and where to eat. Pete collects his own honey from bee's off site it is gorgeous and I had to purchase some to bring home. The full English breakfast was really tasty using local produce and plenty of it. The location was perfect for Donnington park and other local attractions. The room had tea and coffee making facility and a small tv, the WiFi was free and I got a really good speed for Internet access
Review 23:location was spot on and we were made to feel very welcome.we stayed to visit Donnington but managed to also fit in a lovely meal at the local Indian gandhi. The breakfast was lovely including their honey.
Review 24:The bathroom & toilet being on a different floor was a letdown.
Review 25:The hosts were very friendly & chatty. The breakfast was excellent. The honey on the comb was delicious.
Review 26:If only we had booked a longer stay! it was that good..
Review 27:From the Welcome to the Goodbye, the whole stay was brilliant! The couple are attentive, looked after us and fed us well for breakfast, ensuring we were full to the brim before our days out track side! Room was cracking, bed was comfortable, great sleep even after being on our feet all day! We stayed in a room out the back annexe, It was ideal for us and was well maintained. Keep up the good work! We hope to be back someday! x
Review 28:Very late check in and very early check out! Very strict policies regarding breakfast, I would not recommend this guesthouse if you are looking for flexibility. A very formal and unrelaxed B&B, facilities very clean, but it had the general feel of an institution rather than a guest house!
Review 29:Location
Review 30:Parking for just three cars so could prove awkward in busy periods.
Review 31:Peter the owner, went out of his way to look after us and made sure our stay was beyond great. Recommending the Ghandi restaurant was inspired (great meal) and as an ex-hotel inspector, I have no hesitation recommended Morton Guest House to others.
Review 32:Very friendly couple running the place nothing was too much of a hassle for them. They were happy to help no matter what. Extremely polite and generous. Great value for money, extremely clean. Good food and customer service second to none.
Review 33:Nowt mate
Review 34:Warm in every respect from arrival to departure just a lovely place to spend the night than you to the owners excellent and mosthandy for EMA thanks a lot oh bfst excellent too thks
Review 35:it was a clean and comfortable guest house and the owners we're friendly and had good detailed knowledge of the area and we're able to tell us how far it was to where we we're trying to go and how long it would take and whether some of the attractions we're open or not.Breakfast very nice too
Review 36:Nothing disliked
Review 37:We were taking an early flight from EMA so a nearby overnight stay was our requirement - we couldn't have chosen better! Pete and Julie were very friendly and helpful hosts, the room was clean, warm, well equipped, and the bed was one of the most comfortable we have experienced. The location was great for us and would be for anyone to use as a base for visiting the area. Although a small town, Castle Donington has amples of varied restaurants, places of interest, and local attractions. All in all, Morton Guesthouse suited our needs perfectly, but we would also recommend it to anyone visiting the area for leisure or business purposes.
Review 38:Rooms at the front of the property are not double glazed, and therefore continual traffic noise.
Review 39:Location was brilliant for motor racing events at Donington Park, and nice variety of pubs in Village
Review 40:If you wanted to be picky then the poor wifi reception in my room could prob be fixed with a repeater i managed to complete the small amount of work reqd but i wasn't bothered as would rather socialise than be on internet
Review 41:Room was good size ensuite was good size shower was very spacious bed was perfect and comfy breakfast was a delight especially the home baked bread and being in the centre the pub just a few doors down as was a reausterant excellent definitely would stay again
Review 42:Room was very clean & airy with all amenities needed for overnight stay. Staff very pleasant, efficient , plus friendly atmosphere. Excellent breakfast. I would definitely stay again when in the area.
Review 43:Felt like we was shoved in the back garden in a converted shed!! The room was very small and freezing cold no central heating just a portable electric heater!! Had to leave the toilet door open so the little heater would warm the toilet up.
Review 44:the couple were so friendly and helpful from time we arrived. very clean room very nice breakfast very friendly and helpful trying to help us find a way to london.
Review 45:room at front of house, so road noise was a slight issue, but with active day behind us, we drifted off soon enough.
Review 46:exactly as described good value fantastic breakfast made with quality ingredients very helpful hosts
Review 47:Tiled bathroom: could do with a non-slip mat for half the bathroom floor away from shower. Sink: rather low
Review 48:Booking:A phone call within a minute of booking. Friendly Staff: very genuinely-warm welcome from the staff on arrival; helped us identify a nearby restaurant for dinner & booked a table for us; Breakfast: healthy, nutrient-balanced,very well cooked breakfast. Room: Cozy and spotlessly-clean. Bed linen: smelt fresh. Leisure activities: provided information on leisure activities We willdefinitely return
Review 49:Shower facilities were very poor,I was told to leave the hot water running for 2 minutes to allow it to run from the water tank but despite this there was no hot water so I had to have a cold shower.
Review 50:Location was excellent and breakfast was very nice
Review 51:nothing
Review 52:hosts very welcoming, excellent breakfast, try their own honey, our comfortable garden room, their good advice on where to eat (ask for directions to Gandhi restaurant, 10 minutes walk, and Clock Warehouse pub by Shardlow lock, 10 mins drive, with a garden on the canal side and good value food), very handy for A50/M1 connections
Review 53:Limited parking (maybe 3-4 cars safely). Landlord a bit "short" because I arrived unexpectedly at 6pm, not 9pm as I said. Little traffic noise in some road facing rooms.
Review 54:Close to Donington track, but in village so many pubs to go to in evening when the circuit closed. Excellent breakfast. Comfy bed.
