Reviews for YHA Land's End - Cot Valley
Review 1:Pay attention: on the web site it was written they have a "laundryroom". They only have a drying room (only a room without a dryer). We were looking for a place to wash our clothes but we had a badsurprise when we arrived!
Review 2:Relaxing position in the middle of the nature
Review 3:I am very like the little house. My room nearby the ocean that can enjoy the brilliant sunset scape! But, its location is little far from town centre.
Review 4:The welcome from the wonderful staff there. The downstairs room with fab view over the valley. The tasty food. The excellent kitchen facilities everything so clean and plenty of cooking equipment and colourful recycling bins. The lovely people we met there and just where it is - it is beautiful there - we love it and will be back soon.
Review 5:The bed wasn't comfortable and the fan in the toilet next door was very loud in our bedroom.
Review 6:The location was a little bit isolated so it was a nice surprise to find out that we could buy dinner and a drink at the YHA.
Review 7:Comfortable, clean and great value for money. Perfect location for walkers - just 15 mins to St Just and the coastal path is a short stroll down the valley. Tasty and good value breakfast and packed lunch too.
Review 8:I cannot access to Wi-Fi in my room, but at the common room it's quite good!
Review 9:A reception staff is very nice and helpful. Location is good. I wish I could stay here longer :)
Review 10:My room was next to the toilet and bathroom. VERY nosy all night, could not sleep all night.
Review 11:Location was brilliant, walking distance to the coast and St. Just.
Review 12:Even though our four-beds room is sml but the bed is comfortable and the comman place is so lovely and the bathroom and toilets are clean ! The view from the garden is excellent and the breakfast is nice! It is worthy more than its price! We had taken a 10 minutes walk to the sea! And if U have a caI I really recommend it! Because the road to this place is so adventurous! Overall more than our expectations' good
Review 13:Five miles from LE Grumpy staff on reception
Review 14:Location - exterior garden area has magnificent view for a sunset - this is underdeveloped Kitchen facilities Ability to check out early in the morning Quiet Ample car parking
Review 15:French doors to the garden couldn't be used because they appear to be falling apart. They need urgent attention before an accident happens.
Review 16:warm welcome, shown our room, helpful advice re. meal times, situation of kitchen etc.
Review 17:Nothing negative.
Review 18:I particularly liked that it was open in the day, so on early arrival I could put my food in the fridge and use a toilet. Very helpful staff member and wonderful food served. I wish all hostels offered access in the day.
Review 19:We were hoping to get a lovely night sleep considering the location is so isolated, but the people on the top of us were making so much noise...we think it's due to squicky floor on the top, not really sure, but couldn't sleep most of the night. :(
Review 20:We only stayed for one night, but loved the location, bunnies hopping outside the hostel in the morning, and friendly staff. We wish to come back!
Review 21:No Internet connection
Review 22:This place is a hidden gem. The surroundings look mysterious and tranquil. The staff are friendly and the rooms are comfortable.
Review 23:Beautiful and quiet location with gorgeous views. Direct access to hiking trails along the coast. 15-minute walk to St. Just. Spacious shed to store our bicycles. Great family-style dinners and breakfasts available.
Review 24:My only bad experience is other people's comments referring to the hostel being far from pubs and bars. St. Just, nearby village, is 10 min. on foot through scenic countryside, but either way one doesn't go to this place for nightlife!
Review 25:This is by far the best YHA hostel I've stayed in! The location is wonderful, in a valley with a stream next to the hostel and bunnies hopping in the front garden. The staff is extremely polite and kind, catering for the individual needs. The breakfast is suberb, really worth the extra 5 pounds. Finally, the place is spotless and hygiene standards very high!
Review 26:Some late night noise from other guests ( children).
Review 27:Cosy sea view dining room, great showers, well equipped kitchen, ideal for walking southwest coast path.
Review 28:Very clean and good facilities, but we felt it was surprisingly expensive for a hostel. Beds uncomfortable.
Review 29:Friendly staff and good location. Nice breakfast.
Review 30:In the town nearby we couldn't get any proper meal after 8pm
Review 31:Location was so exciting, we got there at night, mysterious and foggy, no moon night and this narrow dark little road leading to the hostel gave us so much fun, feeling like in the movie!!! Recommended to anyone feeling adventurous and also its great value for money!
Review 32:The beds!!! Typical of youth hostels, but creaky, narrow bunks, & uncomfortable mattress. Dont like the plastic covers on them, they make u sweat, but I appreciate that keeps them clean!
Review 33:Well heated - nice & cosy! Good kitchen facilities Powerful showers with good temperature control. Helpful & friendly staff. The views from my double aspect room. Well signposted, tucked away, but easy to find from the good directions supplied.
Review 34:Bunk beds are slightly too short for me (I am 6ft 4in) Luckily for me there was one single bed so no probs.
Review 35:Helpful friendly staff Convenient location (having just arrived off the ferry from Isles of Scilly) Food and drink available Bed very comfortable (slept like a log) Nice (20 min?) walk signposted from YHA to the sea via Cot Valley.
Review 36:No smal lights by the bed, it is not possible to read, if somebody wants to sleep. The Name Lands End, the YHA is in St.Just, so first we didn´t realiesed that, and where Walking to Lands End.
Review 37:The nice garden and the view.
Review 38:the room my wife said was like a prison sell she is going to kill me if i take her any were like this again the breakfast was very poor quality it was not worth the money as we went on to the Hilton in Swindon for £7 pounds less for the night
Review 39:Nothing about it
Review 40:Single track road with no passing spaces - heaven help you if something coming in the opposite direction - and the gateway is awful. I have scraped the underside of my car so not best pleased. Must be designed for off road vehicles.
Review 41:Narrowness of approach road but realise this can't be helped.
Review 42:Friendliness of the staff, quality of food. Meeting people from different walks of life. Cleanliness. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, including the lovely walk down to the cove where you can view a beautiful sunset.
Review 43:Wasn't very cheap for a hostel, we stayed in BandBs not fair away that were a similar price (we had a double room and shared bathroom)

Review 95:The location, eating together with other guests, the staff and the scenery,
Review 96:Staff very friendly and flexible.
Review 97:The cook is quite grumpy, a smile would have made our morning more enjoyable. All other staff members are really nice though :)
Review 98:Very nice place!
Review 99:Slightly pricey for YHA
Review 100:Great staff we arrived really late still sold us a beer and gave a great welcome
Review 101:Very difficult to locate and arrive, and very basic instalations
Review 102:The attention of the gentleman in charge
Review 103:Hostel was clearly signposted from the SWCoast Path. Staff was very friendly and welcoming even though we checked in very late. We stayed in the 6person dorm which was very spacious - in addition to the bunk beds there was a sink, bookshelves with books, several chairs and a coffee table and there was still plenty of space left. The room also had a radiator that we could switch on/off which was great for dryning our things. Showers were very luxurious for a hostel, with detachable shower heads and thermostatic mixer tap. Breakfast was filling and there was also option to sit outside in the garden which had a great views. There was a self-cartering kitchen as well that was well equipped. We would definitely come back again. We would definitely come back.
Review 104:the waterproof covers on the mattresses make for a very hot/sweaty nights' sleep. I wish there was an option to remove them for adults!
Review 105:Beautiful location, friendly/helpful staff, great value. Great place to stay with kids because of the communal garden and living areas. Much friendlier than being in a hotel. The self catering kitchen was well equipped, and the shared bathroom facilities were always clean.
Review 106:I stayed for one night in this hostel, and I was very impressed - it was clean and cosy, and the staff were really friendly and helpful. It's in a beautiful location, and it was lovely to sit in the garden looking out to sea. The bed was comfy, the kitchen was well equipped, and the whole place was just very welcoming. I would defnitely recommend it!
Review 107:Make sure to prepare food in advance or order from the hostel, pubs and restaurants around the area is quite a walk away, albeit a nice one, and they close fairly early
Review 108:Excellent view of the Sunset, great quiet place to camp and just enjoy the wilderness
Review 109:No reading lamp by bed, so bumped heads on low ceiling, main light switch by door. Shower water cool by 8.00 on Sunday morning.
Review 110:The informality and friendliness, wonderful location
Review 111:We have just arrived back. This was a last minute booking, I am a single mum with three boys and we all had a whale of a time! The freedom for them was brilliant, safe and beautiful. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere was very jovial. I cooked every night and the facilities were excellent! The location was idyllic, we couldn't have wished for better. It was great for exploring the far west of Cornwall and we will definitely be back! We are already pining for it. Thank you so much, it ws fabulous!
Review 112:Stunning location, with a sea view and just a few minutes walk to the coast Excellent self catering facilities Excellent value Friendly, helpful staff Lovely meals prepared to order with a free glass of very nice wine Central heating adjustable in room Free parking
