Reviews for Wellington Hotel

Review 1:The top bunk didn't have a guard rail, so we ended up having to switch sleeping locations within the family. The coffee machine for breakfast was very temperamental, although the staff were fantastic about sorting it out...every time.

Review 2:The staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Peaceful at night.

Review 3:Awesome staff and great food! You have to try the duck! It's awesome! Pub feel with staff chatting as old friends! Rooms comfy and clean and fresh

Review 4:Don,t have the large cod in batter it isn,t large!

Review 5:Good room and ensuite great breakfast lovely village life close to old tin mines and scenic coast line.

Review 6:nothing much to criticise apart from slightly unreliable tv and broadband, but we are talking about a very remote place.

Review 7:Friendly and welcoming with good standard of rooms for the price and good pub food.

Review 8:little disappointed with the food , may need a little more effort in the cooking and presentation

Review 9:New Year stay at the Wellington we enjoyed the whole stay ,really nice location lots of shops

Review 10:The hotel is situated right in the heart of the square with quite a few little pubs and eateries adajcent to it ! Nothing was too much trouble for hotel and the landlord checked all evening on New Year that we were having a good time! Fantastic place to stay !

Review 11:My second time of staying here with my Husky Blue. From the moment of arrival to check out everything was brilliant. Blue and I will be returning again at Easter!

Review 12:History and heritage of this establishment and of the whole area was amazing. Surprising that modern facilities can be fitted into historic buildings. Food was good, atmosphere was good. Good part of a good holiday in Cornwall. Amazing place.

Review 13:Had to use shower in next door room because ours had broken down. Decided to do that rather than move.

Review 14:Beautiful Poldark country. Excellent value accommodation

Review 15:Not being there for longer.

Review 16:We stayed here when attending the wedding of a friend. The accommodation was really good value and I would happily say again. The Breakfast was really good and the staff were very nice even when we remembered we'd forgotten to check in and called at 10pm to say we'd be there at 11pm. They were great and can't wait t0 go back.

Review 17:Room 9 was very cold no heating on, plus you couldn't close the window. We booked two nights stay due to work in that area, my work mate ended up in room 9 the next night...same cold room.

Review 18:Staff very friendly, food was good, clean rooms.

Review 19:I was a little disappointed by the lack of care taken to finish the bathroom as the suite which had been fitted was very nice, the shower was also extremely awkward to use as it was located in the eaves.

Review 20:The hotel was well located and the staff were helpful and friendly. The food was also very good.

Review 21:Friendly welcome, parking within easy reach. Excellent comfort and cleanliness in room overlooking pretty courtyard. Bed was remade and tea, coffee, biscuits restocked in room everyday. Excellent breakfast with a lot of choice included in room price. Good choice of evening meals in the bar and had benefit of live music on the Friday evening. All staff very welcoming and accommodating throughout our stay.

Review 22:no

Review 23:The room are very clean, very family feel. My lovely and me like the bathroom, look like new.Good service ,great smile.Thank u make me have good memories and travel. ;)

Review 24:Very clean.great friendly staff.a new menu.value for money.our second visit in 2 months visiting again at the end of Feb then spending a week in July really enjoyed ourselves.

Review 25:The shower was poor. The electric one never got hot and the integrated tap one trickled not any good having spent the day at a exercise event and definitely needed a shower! Also the sink Taos wobbled and the plug didn't shut.

Review 26:Friendly staff, room clean and large

Review 27:Toilet seat was loose, there was'nt a drinking glass in the bathroom. The door curtains were hard to close, shower temperature good but shower itself needs improvement.

Review 28:Our room was clean, towels were soft and good quality.Tea/coffee/biscuits/milk plentiful and the room was serviced daily. The breakfast was lovely, and the breakfast area was a very pleasant setting.

Review 29:Main radiator wasn't eork. I saw it just at night. It was little bit cold for children. Next day i said it for men from service. He do not believe it and promise to check it. Then ee come back radiator was still cold. My hubby go to ask another men from service check it and he did it. He was my hero :D for reall i like everything in this hotel. Rekomend!

Review 30:Everything was veeeery good. I wasn't expect a lot, because this hotel was one of cheapest. But then i saw room-nice decorated, spacefull, comfy and big bed, modern bath room, travel cot was ready for our baby. Room very cozy and clean. We very happy to have good rest here. We will come back

Review 31:The TV didn't have the best of signal and my husband had a fiddle with it to get a good reception so we could watch TV and you don't get WiFi in the rooms so access to be able to use the laptop to watch a movie of i player was not an option..WIFI in the hotel and beer garden was good though. This was not much of a problem for us as we entertained ourselves and went for a quiet night of quality time but if you where to travel alone and wanted to have some entertainment i could imagine this being rather annoying and frustrating. Not that it bothered us but if u want a room with a view this place dose not have one. To make it even more welcoming for dog owners you could offer dog treats and supply a dog bed and bowls not a lot of places are this dog friendly and i feel you could really make a name for yourselves with making it a little extra special for our fury friends :)

Review 32:The room was lovely and definitely worth what we paid for our overnight stay..Our welcome was warm. As my husband smokes, it was good for smokers as he only had to step out of the room and onto a balcony over the beer garden to have a cigarette the constant supply of hot water for lovely hot baths and a hot towel rail this gave us warm fluffy towels to snuggle in after. The bed was comfortable well made clean and stain free. The room was warm a perfect temperature not to hot or cold for a comfortable sleep. The rooms where reasonably quiet and we didn't really hear anything from our neighbors. We loved the fact we could take our fury friend and he was welcome all over the hotel including the breakfast room. Breakfast was lovely of medium size hot fresh coffee and fresh orange a choice of cereals for you to help yourself to. The breakfast come up to us in great time we really didn't wait long and it was hot and very enjoyable.

Review 33:not necessarily a 'dislike', just a comment really: our dog found it difficult walking down the metal staircase leading up to the annexe's upper rooms, getting his claws caught in the larger holes on the lower part of the staircase on a couple of occasions. Also having an internal door between two of the rooms in the upper part of the annexe resulted in feeling like the occupants in the opposite room were spending the stay in our room at times!

Review 34:Staff were friendly and welcoming. Veggie breakfasts were lovely and a good choice of veggie evening meals.

Review 35:room was cold on arrival, I put heating on maid in the morning would turn off so again cold at night

Review 36:close to main town but far eough away to be peaceful

Review 37:It was a country side hotel, it was good value for the money. I took my family to vacation, and we stayed in this hotel over night, it was really good, and breakfast was nice. Really happy

Review 38:Only reservation was that the vegetarian breakfast was the full English minus the bacon and sausage. Veggie sausage or extra egg etc would be nice

Review 39:Special deal so very good value. Ample supply of tea, coffee, posh biscuits. Very comfortable room. Helpful friendlyvstaff even though busy in bar

Review 40:The staff were nice and friendly the food was very good housekeeping was excellent I could not fault our stay at the Wellington one bit many thanks to all the staff

Review 41:Breakfast was poor. If you asked for eggs and toast. You got an egg and a slice of toast. As if you needed to be specific about more than one.

Review 42:Easy to use.

Review 43:The room was basic in decor and could do with an uplift modern feel. The bathroom was very good. The pub itself could do with a bit of upholstery on the benches but other than that a lovely old pub.

Review 44:Location was ideal to explore the area with staff at the Hotel and food very good. We ate every night, 4 nights, and the food was good pub food, tasty and plenty of it. Our dog was welcome and we were given a ground floor which was ideal for the last walk of the night.

Review 45:Staff was excellent could not fault them.the rooms was clean and tidy.food was on par with other establishments around locally.we will visit again sometime in the future. Fully booked speaks for its self.

Review 46:As the twin rooms where already booked out and we wanted two beds we booked a family room. The second "bed" was a cheap uncomfortable "camp bed". Adding to that it was broken as two spokes where missing. Moving on to the breakfast. The area looked like a mess and the lady was overstrained. She was slow and even missed to bring the toast we ordered.

Review 47:It was close to Land's End. Wifi was working well.

Review 48:Poor state of repair, needs refurbishment. Room layout and shower access poor. Window though shut had large gap. Letting cold air on. Noisy electric heater

Review 49:Location for airport good.

Review 50:Strangely our family room had two separate beds rather than a double as our booking had suggested - but we simply pushed them together no problem

Review 51:Beds were so comfortable! Lovely staff and quality breakfast

Review 52:Breakfast was plentiful, if overcooked most mornings, waitresses need to be trained to listen to what was asked for, kept getting the wrong orders and when told that it was wrong they just laughed, and didn't replace or change what was wrong in the order. Locked myself out of the room when going to breakfast staff had to be threatened before doing anything about it. I was shocked that they had no access to keys of the rooms, what if there was a fire????? and they needed to get someone out. Water spillage in dinning room which was just left for someone to slip on even when informed of this, took no notice. They really need someone to manage the morning breakfasts

Review 53:Very close to all local attractions and amenities Bed was very comfortable, and room was very clean, food was very good for the dinners and lunch

Review 54:Room very clean except for some dried toothpaste at rear of sink and toilet not secured properly to the floor.

Review 55:Great value for money and very comfortable room. Good facilities and would happily stay again. Also happy to recommend.

Review 56:The double room we stayed in at the top of the main building was tired and very basic. The basin was in the room and the loo and shower in a tiny room. The waste macerator made a loud noise. Although breakfast was good it took a very long time to arrive as the hotel appeared understaffed

Review 57:This is a friendly and welcoming pub/hotel to stay at. The rooms are quiet and breakfast good. The family room in the annex was excellent. The location was great for our visit to the Minack Theatre.

Review 58:Nice bunch of staff, nothing too much trouble. Left us to get on with what we wanted. Really good breakfast said before we went that needed fish option for non meat eater. Plenty of options.

Review 59:Nothing bad, rooms are a little dated but still very comfortable, nice breakfast in the morning

Review 60:Easy to find hotel in the centre of the village. Great landlord with a passion for keeping good ales

Review 61:was not aware of lack of lift and we were on 2nd floor and i have mobility issues, so quite difficult for me getting up and down stairs.

Review 62:cleanliness superb. breakfast very good choice, and you could tailer make your preference and perfectly cooked. lots of choice if you ate in in the evening.

Review 63:We had a very pleasant stay, can not understand why we have seen some bad reviews...Staff were friendly and obliging and we would recommend it and stay there again ! :-)

Review 64:The service was a little slow at dinner but the food was good after the wait

Review 65:Nice pub in a central location in the middle of the village, friendly staff, clean room, comfy bed, big breakfast :)

Review 66:Quality of accomadation poor (small room badly fitting windows ,poor tiling and decoration. The girl who served breakfast was excellent but was made to do all the work alone (when there is an absentee there should be a back up)

Review 67:Nice staff , good food

Review 68:Steep stairs to room. Cramped bathroom with the only basin in the bedroom. Toilet seat not fixed on one side.

Review 69:Staff were friendly. Room and bed were clean.

Review 70:Breakfast not too good rooms not very clean, had no ventilation nicely old carpets. Beds a bit old . Very noisy place rooms walls too thin and it's a pub

Review 71:Near to St Ives beach

Review 72:We were given a family room but was then surrounded by a large group ofmen (10 of them), constantly making noise, when I did complain to theManager than informed us that the large group of men were regularsgiving us the impression they were more bothered about them than us!Majority of hotels etc do not except large single sex groups and to beput into and by family rooms was completely uncalled for, they couldhave put other couples in those rooms. The room in first instances looked like the website, until you turned round and holes left in the wall (6 of them)which could have been easier filled in with poly filler. The door stop in the bathroom floor stopping the door knocking into the toilet, there was no rubber left just a screw (I had to put a towel there just in case we knocked our feet), plus mold on the ceiling. The bunkbed (beware) as there are no security barriers on the top bunk, any child, would easier fall out! TV was at an angle (minor) When going to breakfast which is situation on the first floor in the main hotel and passing four members of staff and sitting down for approx 5/10 mins. I had to go and ask how the breakfast service was done, Once again the large party of men, seem to be catered for better than us and the other couple that were in the room at the time) In the end we made sure we were out later that day hoping that we wouldn't occur the same distribution like the night before, but unfortunately we did, pointless complaining to the Manager again, instead we put up with the same noise (sounding like someone was hiking up Mount Everest, opening and closing ever draw up until 11.30pm, NO GOOD FOR ANYONE ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN we was up early the next day, left the Hotel at 7.30am and didn't have our breakfast!

Review 73:Location

Review 74:This is a pub with rooms not a hotel. You have to walk through the scruffy bar to get in and out. not recommended for families as there were unsavoury locals causing trouble. Burnt food and sticky tables at breakfast. Run by teenagers who are nice but not trained as hotel staff. Overpriced for what it is.

Review 75:Clean room and bathroom

Review 76:Walls a little thin. Would have preferred car to be parked within sight but this wouldn't stop me returning.

Review 77:Clean, comfortable, Great value for money. Well equipped hospitality tray. Nice toiletries provided.

Review 78:Bed was uncomfortable and rooms noisy due to hearing everything from upstairs rooms. Welcome on arrival was poor as staff were unable to access booking information to let us into a room

Review 79:Location was good, cleanliness was good, breakfast was good.

Review 80:A landlord/landlady how could not be bothered to acknowledge you. Very unprofessional waiting staff. Dirty tables. Kitchen not able to cater for most of the meals on offer due to several excuses. Worst hotel we have ever stayed.

Review 81:We had two rooms in a secondary building in the inner yard. The room on the ground floor was moist and one could feel the smell of fungi.

Review 82:Nice building in the centre of the village. The hotel has a lively pub with regional beers.

Review 83:Staff friendly but came across as not experienced. NO wi-fi in the bedroom. Shower ceiling has a tricky angle, so hit my head. Bed VERY soft and uncomfortable. Room above ver garden. Lucky there were no drinkers.

Review 84:Great location in the centre of the village. Clean and modern room. Good tea and coffee making facilities in room. Breakfast served at table.

Review 85:First of all the parking out front of the hotel is very limited so be aware that you will have to park down the road in the public car park. The exterior of this hotel is deceiving as the out building that we were put in for the family room had seen better days. The first thing that hit me when entering the room was the smell of stale bathroom, A bit odd as the bathroom looked very clean. Unfortunately no wifi access at all and you can hear everything from the guests staying in the room above. I have stayed in a lot of hotels and B&B's and at £115 per night this is very steep! I wouldnt pay more than £60 for a room like this one. We had to leave just before breakfast so cannot comment on it but there was also no one around to collect the key and thank us for overpaying for the stay.

Review 86:Hmmm, plenty of tea and coffee making facilities with hot chocolate and the room was clean.

Review 87:Being in St. Just, a lovely town close to Lands End. Friendly people running the hotel, recently taken on the running of it. Quiet upstairs, huge bathroom recently renovated. View out to the town square.

Review 88:We were not impressed with the breakfast service on each of the three mornings. It seemed poorly coordinated, as our pot of tea arrived much later than anything else. There was no written menu and one waitress who offered continental breakfast was not sure what a continental breakfast was. The filter coffee on offer was luke warm and kept running out. They seemed to be very short staffed. One table of foreign visitors were told that the chef had run out of continental breakfasts. On our last morning our room was even being cleared out before we had finished packing. We think the hotel could be a really good establishment if these problems are addressed.

Review 89:The room was very comfortable and clean with a good selection of complementary tea bags ,coffee and biscuits. It was very convenient to be able to access the room by a locked side gate late at night.

Review 90:The wifi didn't work in the room, but did work in the main pub area.

Review 91:Location was fantastic - right in the centre of the village with handy access to shops but a few minutes' walk from lovely clifftops and the sea. The room was great, really clean and fresh.

Review 92:Wifi not available/poor connectivity in the rooms especially the outside rooms in the rear. No telephone in the rooms

Review 93:Location, ambience, staff. Owner very accomodating. Living in the same premises helps a lot!

Review 94:Had to wait quit long to get checked in because rooms were not ready. Apart from that everything was fine.

Review 95:Must say, staffs were really friendly. About the location? At first we thought it was middel of nowhere but the place turned out to be close to most of the place you would visit.

Review 96:unfortunately the room above our stay was occupied by large plodding gorilla who thought it was ok to do his unpacking and putting away things very loudly until 3.30 am in the morning, not slept very well at all!

Review 97:ideal stopover for our trip to the isles of scilly, arrived much refreshed!

Review 98:We took our elderly father who has trouble with stairs and requested a ground floor room. We were two floors up, spoke to manager and he said they were full which was not true.

Review 99:Long wait for dinner once ordered Long wait to be served at breakfast and Full English not really very good. Had a pot of tea for one person although two at table. Another guest described it as very Fawlty Towers

Review 100:Nice village location not too far from Lands End. Busy local. Also arrived very near the end of a festival period which meant interesting things going on. Good bathroom

Review 101:I am 6 feet tall and could not stand in shower/tub, there is a slanted ceiling which made showering impossible with out serious concern for safety. Two showers two bumps on my noggin'

Review 102:location was ideal, the staff and owner were friendly and most helpful.

Review 103:Wouldn't return, pub toilets dirty, no soap and sink hanging off the wall. Breakfast was served by one lady who was stressing as she was by herself and kept on reminding all guests of her troubles which made the atmosphere tense. No one to hand keys to and end of stay, had to find someone at was then told "just chuck them on the bar"

Review 104:Location.

Review 105:Sometimes noisy (Friday and Saturday) as pubgoers go for a smoke outside Wifi range does not extend to the rooms (room 2 at the back)

Review 106:Clean room Pleasant bed Breakfast was great Breakfast staff is super! Free wifi worked fine in the main building

Review 107:Noisy room (above pub entrance - door constantly banging). No parking. Room smelt musty. Instant coffee for breakfast! No welcome from staff - simply a request for payment within seconds of arrival.

Review 108:Nothing springs to mind

Review 109:Sadly, nowadays people are too eager to complain and not to praise whichI find rather distasteful. No complaints

Review 110:We were only there for the night but we were made to feel very welcomeand nothing was too much trouble. The couple had taken over the hotel 4 weeks before but they had made it into a very welcoming small hotel

Review 111:Great value for money. Definitely more then fair accommodation for the price. good breakfast.

Review 112:NONE

Review 115:Everything

Review 116:None

Review 117:Good breakfasts and tasty food available in the pub. Very clean

Review 118:No on site parking although there is a large free public car park a short walk away.

Review 119:Staff were very helpful and friendly. Really nice food.

Review 120:Poor breakfast

Review 121:Convenience

Review 122:Nothing

Review 123:Nothing really, enjoyed our stay. Thankyou.

Review 124:The friendly helpfull staff. The quality of the food. Great location. Excellent value for money.

Review 125:Nothing at all.

Review 126:Nice location in the centre of St Just

Review 127:N/A

Review 128:Excellent value for money. Great location, friendly staff, clean and comfortable.

Review 129:Very clean and comfort room, good restaurant and very helpfull staff.

Review 130:pub area was tired, but accommodation was absolutely fine

Review 131:very pleasant and helpful staff
