Reviews for The Blenheim

Review 1:Hotel's parking is extremely limited - 3 or 4 cars maximum.Hotel was expensive considering all points. Hotel's Wi-Fi was very public - if I recall correctly, it had WPA2-PSK and I believe you could interface with all other connected devices. Room (3 "Crazy View") didn't have a great view, the opposite Teignmouth Inn could see into our room, and the sunlight was obstructed surprisingly often due to very tall buses passing. Although, this was partly our fault for booking at the last minute. Room was slightly damp. Room smelled of paint (presumably to cover up the damp). Room wasn't very quiet - you could quite clearly hear people through two doors which is a major problem when you're situated next to the stairs and are a night owl. Room was a bit dated. Room's shower was absolutely awful (randomly switch between freezing cold or boiling hot with pathetic water pressure) and actually reduced my girlfriend to tears. Advice: If you have the Triton T80 easi shower, set it to double red, 4.5, and maybe turn shower head to central nozzles for the best experience you're going to get. Room's microwave dish didn't rotate. I realise that a lot of this is due to the building being quite old and there's not much they can do about that but, unfortunately, it still affected our stay.

Review 2:Hotel is very near the town centre and beach.Hotel's Wi-Fi was good. When no one else is using it, 25Mbps download and 10Mps upload. When others are using it, 3Mbps download and 1Mbps upload but, surprisingly, still good enough for Netflix. Hotel's full English breakfast was nice (albeit, rather small). Hotel provided books and DVDs (albeit, rather old but that was good in the case of The Simpsons). Room was quite large and well-supplied in terms of appliances. Room was quite homey. Room's bed was very warm and relatively comfortable.

Review 3:The Hotel's decor could be better, it's all a bit 80's styling and colours, it would suit a more neutral look. We didn't like breakfast being served in our room, it felt rushed and awkward if you had to ask for any extras. The breakfast was not quality produce- the sausages were cheap and fatty, the bacon and the bread were bog standard, probably supermarket bought- nothing made you go WOW..... Compared to other holidays we've had this Hotel was expensive for what you actually get. I think the premium price you pay is more for the location, not the quality.

Review 4:It's a very central location so once you have parked your car there's no need to use it. The train station is a five minute walk ( or less) and the buses run from around the corner.

Review 5:Location. Right on the sea front in Dawlish. Very friendly host to welcome us and our room was large, well equipped with Mini Kitchen, Microwave, Kettle, Basket full of tea.coffee etc. Fridge. Small dining area. We were 2 adults and a teenager, and had plenty of room and the privacy of a seperate bathroom. Our breakfast (Full English) plus toast and Jams was marvellous. We travel alot and have stayed in quite a few accomodations around Dawlish, having family in the town. We booked 3 rooms for family in this pleasant B & B and the whole party were very happy with their rooms, and breakfast. This is our favourite, we will be back.

Review 6:Nothing was a perfect stay :)

Review 7:Beautiful rooms very helpful and friendly staff in a ideal locations could come and go as you please will be returning :)

Review 8:Bathroom very small. No room to move in. Bed was not that comfortable. Didn't like the fact breakfast was served in the bedroom. Prefer to eat in a dining room.

Review 9:Nicely located for the sea front and town. Food was fine.

Review 10:Being told I could only have Breakfast at eight. Or would have wait to last. No drinks offered to my grandchildren age three and five. Being questioned on the choice of breakfast they choose.

Review 11:Easy access from rail station. Nice surroundings. Park Beach shops.

Review 12:The location was perfect for easy access to the station, and the place itself was wonderfully homely. The bedroom was huge, combined into a studio apartment with all necessary conveniences included.

Review 13:My bedroom was 1 foot from a main road. Despite double glazing, the traffic noise late in the evening and early in the morning was intrusive. There was also a musty smell to the room.

Review 14:Friendly staff.

Review 15:Excellent location, bus stop & train station only a couple of minutes walk away to visit Torquay, Exeter, Teignmouth & many other places. Could hear trains go past but wasn't a concern. Breakfast freshly made & brought to your room was brilliant. No need to get ready early to go down for breakfast. Room very clean & bright even though we had the studio which is lower level of the building.

Review 16:This hotel is right on the seafront. Close to the train station and bus stop. We stayed in room 8 (The Nest) which had a beautiful seaview from 1 window and a view of the mini golf and garden through the other. It was a bright spacious room with 2 arm chairs and table. Ann brought our breakfast to our room every morning because there is no dining room. The breakfast was very good. We recommend this hotel. We have been before and will go back again.

Review 17:Nothing bad to say!

Review 18:The sea view, self catering facilities as well as lovely breakfast cooked for us! Good TV and radio, free wifi. Also nice and warm. All home comforts.

Review 19:Could do with an update with the decoration. Wardrobe in our room a bit shakey?? Very worn.

Review 20:Lovely people, nice location, lovely breakfast in your room!!

Review 21:The rooms are lovely and spacious and very clean. Ann is lovely and will help with anything she can. She really made us feel at home. I would definitely stay at the Blenheim again.

Review 22:Very nice room, it was comfortable, homely, clean and secure. I loved having my breakfast served to me in my room. I would certainly stay there again.

Review 23:The only down side was the size of the en-suite,it was very compact and awkward for my husband.

Review 24:The location of the Blenheim was ideal ,close to the train station and shops and cafes nearby ....with pubs to hand too .

Review 25:We were made to feel very welcome by Ann and Alan and we would highly recommend The Blenheim for a short or long break. To stay in this traditional historic bed and breakfast by the sea was a treat. Everything was just wonderful.

Review 26:No little complimentary shampoo body wash etc only hand soap

Review 27:Amazing view across sea freshly cooked breakfast served in room lovely hot shower comfy bed good facilities

Review 28:Shame about limited parking but the station is yards away and if you know before hand it's not an issue

Review 29:Great location, great view, an owner taking the time to explain the basics. It felt like a good old fashioned BB quirky and full of character .

Review 30:I suppose the only thing that people might complain is the trains but we found them entertaining and our 7yr old son was glued to the window to watch them.

Review 31:The view was perfect and a great breakfast. Ann is so friendly and welcoming and even though we only stayed one night it was a perfect place to stay while on our travels.

Review 32:Noise of traffic/trains was alittle annoying. Could have better bathroon space.

Review 33:Location was very good - 2 minutes away from station. Room was very spacious and comfy! Breakfast in the morning was lovely :) Could come and go as we pleased.

Review 34:The decor was very tired - 70s-ish. Needs a good makeover. cleanliness was also questionable. Bathroom could have been cleaner.

Review 35:Location was fantastic, breakfast served in the room was a nice touch. We also had a kitchenette. Good size room.

Review 36:Our room was on the main road across from a pub which meant it was a bit noisy at night. The shower was pretty small, and I would have appreciated a bath.

Review 37:Anne was just a wonderful host giving us suggestions on where to go, helping us whenever we needed, and made us a great breakfast each morning. Awesome omelettes, and great location!

Review 38:You are paying for the location, Hotel needs a good refurbishment inside.

Review 39:Great location, at The Blenheim very friendly staff, lovely breakfast, and facilities

Review 40:the room was very out dated.. not very comfortable at all.. put in a basement room with a wall view and too many stairs for me to handle and advised to go through the laundry room to get out..not very professional..left after 2 days

Review 41:good location.

Review 42:Nothing

Review 43:The pie shaped Blenheim, at the fork in the road, overlooking the town and the water, was a treat! Because we arrived during a fair, it was a little noisy outside until 11:30 or so, but completely quiet after. We enjoyed the parade and the festivities. I loved getting up at 7 am and spending a couple of hours picking up sea glass across the road on the beach, before the tide came in. ( the security guard was the only friendly presence around so early, until some bathers arrived to swim with their dog!) the sweet, attentive hostess delivered our breakfasts to our rooms. Pretty cool experience.

Review 44:Cannot fault the place. Anne was very pleasant and helpful during our stay, making us feel welcome on arrival. The Blenheim is obviously situated near a train line, and you will hear the trains, but its not earsplitting and groundshaking. More like a pleasant rumble. Breakfast served into the rooms was lovely. Will definitely be going back when I can grab the time off!

Review 45:Excellent location, just 2 min walk from Dawlish station. Close to the sea where you can sit and watch the waves. Great bus and train links to Starcross and Exeter for exploring the area.

Review 46:Nothing I can think of.

Review 47:The Blenheim may be an older looking building from the outside, but inside the rooms have all been modernized. My room (The Nest) was very clean and cozy, including flat screen TV, comfy bed, LED accent lighting, a small dining table and chairs. I was given a key to my room and front door, and could come and go as I pleased. The Blenheim is conveniently located beside the railway station and the main road. It's also very close to the beach area, shops, cafes, and pubs. Despite this I had no problem sleeping - the walls and windows provided adequate sound-proofing. Owners Ann and Alan were very cheery and helpful. In the morning Ann took my breakfast order, and shortly after my breakfast (cooked by Alan) was delivered to my room, for me to enjoy while watching the morning news!

Review 48:Noisy a bit because of its location.

Review 49:Location is just perfect, 10 meters to the bus stop, 50 metets to the railway station. There were fridge, oven, kettle and dishes in the room.

Review 50:Noise from the road, it was OK from 6.30pm until around 6am in the morning. If you wanted some rest in the afternoon hours, it was noisy, and couldn't hear the television properly. We were offered another room in the basement but it meant going up and down stairs, not sure whether it would have been any queiter?

Review 51:Location was excellent. Breakfast was good, served in room at time requested. Friendly staff.

Review 52:Your Booking.Com Review needs reviewing! - While Travelling you were a ..... * there is no option for a group of business people......so I had to put friends..... unusual as it made be in this place.

Review 53:Anne was terrific., she could not have been more helpful. Quirky self-catering hotel, on the seafront in lovely Dawlish, though sited between two roads (one very quiet one bsuier) and a railway line! Sea facing rooms best with the quiet road in front.

Review 54:We were in the top room of the bleinham. Although a climb up the stairs it is well worth it the room is Gorgeous!!! We all loved it. The breakfasts were amazing too

Review 55:Ok the furnishing is a little dated, but it doesn't really matter.

Review 56:We had a sea view room with a balcony. We sat in the moonlight on a beautiful evening. 30 seconds to the beach and shops and a friendly QUIET pub next door. Breakfast is brought to your room by the always smiling owner and was lovely.

Review 116:Spacious room on sea front

Review 117:pillows in my room very flat, apart from that can not moan about anything cant wait to go back

Review 118:excellent customer service, even took our bags upstairs, put milk in the fridge for us, full english breakfast served to your room, so clean you smell the freshness, towels are nice and soft, anna and alan gave made us feel very welcome thank you sooooo much

Review 119:shortage of parking; long way up steep hill for aged legs to nearest free parking

Review 120:good welcome and comfortable, well equipped room. shower and loo would be a tight squeeze for those of "ample" proportions, but all clean and working properly. close to the beach and train track; I love to hear and watch the trains and the sea, but be aware that you will hear them. been before, and to me it is the strongest recommendation that I did not even think of staying anywhere else.

Review 121:As it is a historic building, understandly the stairs can be tiring.

Review 122:On the door step to everything, breakfast served in your room. The Red Cove and beach within a early morning walk. Comfy arm chairs, could have stayed a week in the studio room!
