Reviews for Hôtel Les Templiers

Review 1:Located across the square from the walled abbey. We had a very comfortable room in the newer part of the building. Main part of the building quite old but charming and well cared for.

Review 2:The hotel is very tired ... I don't mean quaint or that it has character ... it is just tired ! The "lounge" is pathetic (three old/soft seats around a small table with instant coffee and a small TV set) and the rooms (while clean) are well worn. The town is just about the same ... tired. We shortened our stay and went on to Arreau which is a wonderful town (where we rented a two bedroom apartment for 55Euro/nt). Don't bother with either Luz Saint-Sauveur or the Hôtel Les Templiers.

Review 3:Nothing ...

Review 4:This hotel is located in the most amazing little village with the Pyrenees mountains rising up behind it! The air is so pure and clean. The hotel is European charm at it's best. We stayed, for 3 nights, in the family room on the second floor facing the back of the hotel. It was perfect for a family of four with a queen size bed and two bunk beds. It's not fancy, but we had everything we needed. The bathroom is huge by European standards. We were there during the off-season so there were few other guests in the hotel and it was very quiet. The hotel also has a breakfast room which becomes a very good restaurant at night. The man who services the breakfast, Steve from England, was a delight to talk to. He serves up a continental breakfast of croissants (best ones I had on the trip), baguette, butter, jams, soft-boiled eggs, cereal, muesli, fruit, coffee, tea, & juices. Sounds plain but it was fresh and delicious! Steve was also a wealth of knowledge about the area and potential activities and day trips. We ate at the restaurant one night and it was amazing. Traditional Pyrenees-style french food. No complaints...went to bed happy and full. The hotel is owned by a couple: she is Australian and he is French. He is actually the mayor of the town! I only met him, but he was very accommodating and friendly. All was great with our stay at this hotel and I would recommend it without reservation.

Review 5:The hotel was not easy to get to. They advertised private parking but the parking was in a public car park. The door to the bathroom did not close. The room was old and felt dirty.

Review 6:The receptionist Nico was nice

Review 7:Parking is an issue unless you are lucky to get a space near by. Would prefer a TV in room. The associated restaurant is actually separate management and we puzzled over people raving about it. Neither of us enjoyed a single course from the menu. You'll either love or hate this chef.

Review 8:Property is very characterful with very old wood and decor which we loved but may not suit everyone. Location near centre of town yet not noisy is excellent. Owners very keen to help, advise and supply maps etc.

Review 9:We had one night here and just loved it. Opposite a 12thC fortified church in the nicer part of town. A door from their hallway enters a cracking restaurant. We're coming back!

Review 10:Lots of stairs and not particularly well equipped for self catering. Breakfast in hotel wasn't good value for money.

Review 11:Great location and views from the maisonette were breathtaking. Staff were friendly, helpful and could speak English. room was comfortable.

Review 12:We used the apartment. It was not very clean, there was mould in the bathroom, the crockery and cutlery had not been properly washed up and the bunk beds creaked so badly that they woke everyone up when my son turned in his sleep.

Review 13:Location was great, staff were really friendly and approachable

Review 14:WIFI was very slow (in common with other hotels in the same valley); this made it difficult to book our next hotel through Booking.com

Review 15:Perfect location in the square opposite the medieval fortified church. Very good breakfast. Excellent updating of an old building

Review 16:The wifi in the apartment did not work. This was not clear when we booked and I would not have chosen this place had I known this. They need to fix this problem.

Review 17:Friendly staff. Pretty hotel. Apartment we stayed in was well equipped overall.

Review 18:Wi-fi is intermittent the further from the front of the hotel you are. Breakfast was reasonable overall, however its was difficult to get more than one croissant. Would be better if they were part of the buffet and not allocated. Frustrating. Beds have tightly tucked in sheets and blankets rather than a duvet. Shower good, but drying yourself is neigh on impossible due to bathroom being so small.

Review 19:Good location, Friendly staff, Excellent shower with plenty of powerful hot water. Lots of character, 16th century as I remember. English widely spoken. Lots of local information on walking, cycling, restaurants etc

Review 20:Nothing… well… the coffee was a little weak but then you'd love it if you were American.

Review 21:My wife and I went to Luz for the cycling. We rented great bikes from Ardiden Velos who left them at the hotel. The hotel is perfectly located between a half dozen brilliant cycling routes, walks, and some great restaurants. The staff spoke excellent English and were helpful with all cycling and tourism questions, helping with restaurant bookings etc. The rooms were large, comfortable and very reasonably price. There's a lot to see at Luz St Saveur and les Temliers is a great place to stay when you are there.

Review 22:We had a wonderful stay in early October. Quiet, comfortable, great staff, spacious room, tasty and ample breakfast, wonderful location. Quaint and comfy come to mind.

Review 23:Promised Wi-fi was not available. Overall apartment needs some updating (e.g. regular doorknob/latch on bathroom door not working resulting in lack of privacy).

Review 24:Moderately spacious and efficient, nice view of the church from bedroom window. Beds/linens comfortable. Large bathroom with good shower/water pressure.

Review 25:- As a cyclist I consider the room to store the bicycles as too limited

Review 26:- Flexibility of the staff - Great resto! - Breakfast with home made ingredients - Cosy atmosphere - 2 min walking to the centre, the local shops, and restaurants - Particular location: in front of fortified Templars church - Easy to park car close by - Right at the beginning of the Tourmalet: great for sporters

Review 27:Shower didn't drain very well. Wifi connectivity was poor. Better curtains to stop too much light coming in would be good. No one likes waking up at 5 in the morning on holiday.

Review 28:Very friendly, english speaking staff. Good breakfast. Charming place. Excellent location.

Review 29:too expensive for nothing

Review 53:décor bathroom

Review 54:location price helpful and informative service

Review 55:Room a bit tired - could do with an update.

Review 56:Location Breakfast Owner

Review 57:Somewhat limited restaurant choice in Town but minor point.

Review 58:Very friendly and helpful owners, excellent location for High Pyrenees in centre of interesting town and in an historic building. Attached restaurant good but closed Monday and Tuesday.

Review 59:Located in centre of picturesque town with adjacent free car park. Super food in restaurant. Shops and other restaurants close by. Ideal base for walking, cycling, climbing this area of Pyrenees.

Review 60:Furnishings very tired and worn. Peeling paint on walls, dark and dingy hallways. Really needs a face lift.

Review 61:Location was terrific (we came to cycle) and the staff was very pleasant an helpful. The property is located right in the square across from the church.

Review 62:Nothing!

Review 63:Very friendly owner. We were given a free upgrade to an apartment which was fantastic for our family. The room was quiet and the location of the hotel was ideal. We liked the feel of the hotel.

Review 64:The restaurant wasn't open. We would have liked to have dinner in the hotel, since it was hard to find a place open in the town.

Review 65:I like the location within the Pyrenees and within the town. Beautiful views from the mountains and an old but well preserved church. The owners were very friendly and informed us with what was around and things we could do that helped us to decide and plan the day very easily. Nice and varied breakfast too.

Review 66:Having to depart for our next hotel reservation. Then fighting the floods in Lourdes!

Review 67:Lovely owners, fun and extremely helpful and involved with everyone. Free wi-fi. Hotel with lots of character and being modernised (thankfully with feeling). Expect that every room is entirely different. Ours was fine and we didn't hear the church bells. Great croissants. Wished we could have stayed longer. Brilliantly positioned for the great mountain roads, plus the waterfalls at Pont d-Espagne. Owners full of recommendations.

Review 68:Good value for money. Clean comfortable, warm, good sized bedroom. Great shower in roomy bathroom. Good selection for breakfast. Friendly, pleasant and helpful staff, charming french-english speaking children who did a great job as receptionist's assistants. Plenty of p arking nearby. We were given a very good recommendation for dinner at a nearby restaurant.

Review 69:No hot water on second night due to a problem which we weren't made aware of.

Review 70:Friendly owners; a lot of character in the building; good breakfasts; excellent location.

Review 71:Great location, nice staff, great town, generally a fabulous experience. This hotel was a pleasant surprise! We weren’t sure what to expect, but we loved the feel of the hotel. The room was not luxurious, but the bed was comfortable, and the newly remodeled bathroom boasted an incredible shower. The host was delightful and helpful in suggesting good restaurants in town.

Review 72:The breakfast was really not up to standard. No cheese, not cold cuts, bread not fresh. Restaurant was not available, as advertised.

Review 73:Friendly and helpful staff, able to communicate in English, veryknowledgeable about the area. Excellent location, easy walking to towncentre. Public parking across the street. Fresh and clean smell(important to non-smokers). Strong WiFi signal.

Review 74:Attentive owner

Review 79:very friendly owner, center and easy access to all activities in the area

Review 80:A little untidy in the lounge and lobby.

Review 81:Very relaxed and friendly especially the owners whom work there every day. Great restaurant.

Review 82:Very friendly, the owners went out their way to help us. Great location with three good ski resorts within easy driving distance.
