Reviews for Hotel Colessio
Review 1:Room 109: Bathroom is very small and due to one of the windows only having a blind ( no curtain like the other windows) the car park security light lights up the whole room and affects sleep.
Review 2:Clean and comfortable rooms. Breakfast is of a high standard and staff are very professional and friendly.
Review 3:Rooms small and VERY warm even with heating turned off. One tiny window in the room and with inadequate lighting the room was extremely dark. Had to move furniture to access a socket near a mirror. Couldn't sit and have a drink in the hotel in the evening as it was so busy with non residents, excellent for the hotel but not so much for guests. Service at breakfast was terrible, had to ask for a menu, butter, sugar, someone to take the order, not 5 star service. Then had to go looking for someone so we could pay our bill. This hotel really is all show.
Review 4:Location was excellent
Review 5:Excellent staff. Very friendly and helpful. Lovely anniversary meal. Room perfect. Breakfast lovely staff very pleasant . No complaints at all. First class .
Review 6:Sizeable rooms but poor lighting, this could be improved.
Review 7:Friendly, helpful staff. Good food in the restaurant and attentive waitress. Breakfast was included and a great choice. Within walking distance of the train station & Stirling Castle (but is up hill for both). Drinks menu was comprehensive and again good value.
Review 8:Wireless did not work in the room foyer only, The car park is very small.
Review 9:Great Boutique hotel. Modern relaxing bar area. Restaurant was great. Very comfortable and staff were excellent.
Review 10:Our bedroom was like a sauna even though the radiator was cold so it was difficult to sleep even though we opened the windows. We also found it awkward to eat our meals in the restsurant as although the chairs are fine, the tables are unusually tall. There are booths and if you manage to get one, eating is easier as the tables are normal height. Finally, we couldn't get wi-fi in our bedroom.
Review 11:Our room was beautiful, our bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was lovely - a powerful shower and really nice toiletries. We enjoyed wonderful food in the restsurant at dinner. The choice at breakfast was great, and our afternoon tea was fabulous! But the best things about our stay at Hotel Colessio were the customer service even before we arrived, and all the friendly helpful staff in the hotel.
Review 12:Breakfast was disappointing in that we had to ask for the menu and where to go for buffet and there was no porridge.
Review 13:The decor was stunning and the service at reception and in the bar was excellent. Dinner was very good.
Review 14:Our bathroom was dirty we had used towels our soap had been used and the biscuits in our tea trolley had been eaten not very good at all !
Review 15:The staff were quite helpful
Review 16:Breakfast very disappointing especially the pancakes and our table was cleared when we went to buffet table although we had not started our coffee toast or orange juice and had left personal items at the table - not good for a 5 star hotel!
Review 17:Decor very impressive.
Review 18:dated decor straight out of the 80s, depressing as everything is black, small rooms, no space for clothes, no minibar, no safe, did I mention no space? bathroom was almost bigger than the bedroom, untrained staff, zero customer service skills, does not deserve 5 stars. it might be 5 stars in Scotland but it is nowhere near international 5 star standard.
Review 19:location was not bad but we were glad to leave after 2 nights
Review 20:The rooms need to have better ventilation and/or air conditioning. The restaurant staff could use a bit more customer service training.
Review 21:The setting a very short walk from Stirling Castle was wonderful. The newly renovated hotel was very nice. The front desk staff, the bar staff and the chamber maids were all wonderful, friendly and helpful.
Review 22:Room clothes and baggage storage facilities could be better
Review 23:Comfortable well-appointed room, fantastic shower. Everything new-looking. Breakfast pretty good.
Review 24:Room a bit hot and stuffy, but it's a historic building so probably sown to that.
Review 25:Helpful staff (lent me a phone charger as I had forgotten mine) and fantastic full Scottish breakfast.
Review 26:I don't need a designed telephone but a toilet brush, or hot water or WiFi every time.
Review 27:The house is nice and very well decorated and designed. All in black and wight. Very precious. Nice staff.
Review 28:The rooms are extremely cramped. I would have given up some of the space in our huge bathroom for a little more space in the bedroom. We were constantly tripping over our suitcases and each other - space around the bed is extremely tight
Review 29:Best thing about this hotel is the location - just a few blocks from the castle and church and,, on the other side, a few blocks to central part of the city. Stirling is an amazingly beautiful city, one of our best stops in Scotland. The hotel has also been thoroughly modernized. The bathrooms are beautiful and absolutely the biggest we had in this trip to the UK
Review 30:There was nothing we didn't like, everything was brilliant!
Review 31:Such a comfy bed!! And the bathroom was definitely the best we've seen in any hotel!
Review 32:Room billed as delux double - room 111 - was a disgrace with barely enough space to fit double bed. No space for us and suitcases! Shameful of management to charge close to £150 for 1 night. Bathroom ok but tap broken and extractor
Review 33:Dinner in restaurant was fantastic - complements to chef for quality Scottish scallops, followed by beautifully cooked beef fillet.
Review 34:It was a really nice stay lovely hotel and the staff were very helpful and friendly. I will be booking this hotel again as it's one of the best in Scotland.
Review 35:I was surprised to see the lid was missing from the toilet in our bathroom. There were also no luggage stands - so it made it more difficult to get in and out of suitcases as they were on the floor instead of at a comfortable height.
Review 36:Location The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Review 37:My only criticism would be the size of our room but the hotel was very busy and we got a good deal
Review 38:Bar and restaurant area very luxurious. Staff very attentive even though they were very busy.
Review 39:Room 234 had several bad line marks in the ceiling. There was no Earl Grey tea provided as part of standard provision in room. Internet was not easy to access. No wake up call although requested. Subsequently no salmon left at breakfast. Requested morning paper not available. Not good!
Review 40:Nice decor. Good breakfast despite problem.
Review 41:rooms are so hot and no means to control the heat !! open the windows you might say but they are safety rated and only open 6 inches so no real cooling effect, also when widows open noise from outside impinges, they need to address this issue r
Review 42:fabulous staff, magnificent building, luxury contemporary interior
Review 43:i had stated it was my fiancees birthday but the hotel didnt do anything special as in room upgrade or a bottle of wine which would have been a nice gesture, also our room was above the function room which was really noisy. We had to complain twice.the manager rectified this by giving us another stay bed and breakfast any night of our choice so that made up for the dissapoinment of the night I hope we get a better room the next time tho.
Review 44:the hotel is very nice and clean.
Review 45:Car park is really small and tight, we had trouble finding a space. Rooms not as big as we thought they we would be considering the price.
Review 46:We stayed at the hotel as our friends were getting married. The dinner & service was outstanding. The staff went above and beyond. Cannot fault them. Bar staff were brilliant, even congratulated our friends when they had finished their shifts. Room was lovely, bathroom fab. Breakfast was splendid.
Review 47:Close to Nightclub and could hear the duff duff sounds up until 4am. I raised this point to the staff and they couldn't care less. They almost seemed surprised. I was not the only one complaining either, they will inform the Manager was all I got. This information should be known and given to clients. I will never step foot in this Hotel again,
Review 48:Location is excellent, rooms were big and furnished to the highest standards. We were blown away by the 'VFM' of our 1ntB&B. The excellent staff managed to find a table for us during the bank holiday weekend and I must say it was well worth it, the Grill Room restaurants food was outstanding!! Drinks afterwards in the lovely cocktail lounge had a great atmosphere. Loved it!!!
Review 49:Only the size pf smaller rooms but would just make sure we get a club room next time ..
Review 50:Love the big comfy beds and curtains help to block out the light meaning you get a good sleep...
Review 51:Both choices on the dining menu were not available. So that annoyed us. Twin beds pushed together to make a double which was disappointing. Wifi in the room did not connect but worked well in the lobby.
Review 52:Everything is clean and tidy and looking great. Food was excellent and breakfast very good.
Review 53:Cleanliness of room not 5 stars Breakfast Bathroom hairs everywhere Heating went off if room card was out
Review 54:Location Style Size Staff Cocktails Value for money
Review 55:Not much to dislike.
Review 56:Room was spotless, bed comfortable and a lovely sized bathroom & bath. Staff very genuine & friendly. Breakfast & breakfast waiting staff excellent. The right amount of attention, timely cooked breakfast, & the tastiest ingredients I've had in a long time. Was sad to leave, though hopefully back soon.
Review 57:Parking was a bit of a hit and miss
Review 58:Very good hotel. Very well fitted out, with exceptionally well trained, well informed and polite and helpful staff in all aread
Review 59:Thereis not a thing not to like.. Worth every penny.. Would love to stay in the superior rooms have a look when you visit..
Review 60:Everything especially the staff ... Lauren will be missed as she makes you feel so welcome.. Rooms are gorgeous especially beds and big baths.. Best scrambled egg i hav ever had.. Be back in may !!!!
Review 61:Loved it all a spa area would have just added a little extra to an already great hotel.
Review 62:Luved staying at this hotel! As on our minimoon we got an upgraded room and prosecco courtesy of the hotel. The location is spot on and staff were very friendly and attentive. Will def return.
Review 63:My only comment from the function was to access the toilet facilities you had to go past the restaurant and people sitting in the lounge area. My bedroom was ok but not a 5 star cost of £139, bed very comfortable, had to hunt for the tea making facilities. Bathroom had a couple of long black hairs, the expelair did not work and was thick with dust. The hand held mirror was very badly smeared. Only mirror to look at full lenght was in the bathroom
Review 64:As i was there for a wedding the overall day was very good the entrance foyer is quite splendid and suited the occassion
Review 65:Never had a anything we didnt like .. Dont think you could complain as staff so helpful especially the staff who clean the rooms !
Review 66:Love everything about the hotel especially when you get a room with a seatin area.. The rooms are beautiful and beds so so comfy .. Baths are brilliant so large srsyin again this weekend .. Cant wait !!!!!
Review 67:A little slow with ordering the breakfast on the first day but soon out right.
Review 68:All of it, slept like a log in the comfy bed, dined like a queen on the hearty breakfast... Would definitely return.
Review 69:Wi-Fi reception in the room was very poor.
Review 70:Very comfortable although room could have been slightly bigger. Restaurant food was excellent and staff very friendly and helpful
Review 71:Being offered water at dinner and having to pay around £5 a bottle (no mention of cost until it appeared on the bill)...
Review 72:Friendly staff, fantastic food, the light and airy bar, indulgent rooms...
Review 73:It was £149 on here but I found out that for the same room it was £99 on Colessio's website. I phoned about this but was wrongly told that it was a premium room I had paid for but when we went in to the room it was clear that it was a very small room. They ended up giving us the room for £99 and gave us a free bottle of wine for the inconvenience as the hotel was fully booked so couldn't move rooms
Review 74:I liked the location, staff and breakfast
Review 75:Having to leave.
Review 76:The hotel exudes luxury from the moment you arrive. The room was exquisite. Quite possibly the comfiest bed I've slept on. The staff were helpful and friendly.
Review 77:Only down side to my most recent visit was having my room next to the door used by staff to take delivery of items, at 6am... whilst having a fairly noisy conversation. Plus side, being a regular now at this hotel, I'll know in future to avoid room 128 in future.
Review 78:Friendly staff, décor, location, great food.
Review 79:The location of the hotel was in walking distance of all historical places to visit . Staff in hotel colessio were friendly and helpful would definitely recommend to family and friends. We will definitely stay at hotel colessio again soon.
Review 80:Rooms could have been slightly bigger considering the price.
Review 81:The room, though small, was clean and nicely decorated. The facilities in the room were good and perfect for our needs.
Review 82:Was unable to access wifi. Not that big a deal.
Review 83:Staff were 1st class.Dinner and breakfast the same.Hotel was very well sited for access to town centre.Would highly recommend this hotel.
Review 84:The breakfast was poor not cooked properly, was not to check out till 11am but has housekeeping chapping our door at 8:55am waking us up! Bathroom was not cleaned well makeup over the tiles and the shower was dirty, also the pictures on the website was not the hotel we were in!
Review 85:The hotel was gorgeous inside
Review 86:Room was amazing, and very relaxing. Staff were friendly and helpful. Especially Mary the head housekeeper, who made us feel really welcome. Would definitely be back !
Review 87:Our room on arrival was more like a broom cupboard, very small and claustrophobic! However when we said we would have to leave the manager upgraded us for free to a lovely spacious room!
Review 88:The hotel bar and restaurant were fab, the place was busy and had a great atmosphere, the staff were extremely helpful.
Review 89:The first room was a very unusual shape and was not what I'd class a de Luxe room which is what we booked. The leisure facilities were at another hotel which was a bit disappointing.
Review 90:Really good value for money. The first room we were given was not up to the standard we expected and the girl at reception very quickly moved us to a much better room. The breakfast was excellent and the service was 2nd to none. Overall a great hotel for the money we paid.
Review 91:Club room was v small and tap in bathroom unsteady.
Review 92:The hotel was beautiful staff fantastic, couldnt beore helpful especially lauren at recrption. Food delicious and servef in a fantastic environment.
Review 93:Heating in the main bar / restaurant area broke down however mini heaters were used to try and help. Not ideal when the outside temp was below zero, however everyone tried to remain light hearted about it until it was repaired.
Review 94:Staff looked after us from the moment we checked in, all very helpful and friendly, the reception staff, bar staff, restaurant and housekeeping. Greta location as well, only a short walk to bars and shops and plenty parking as well.
Review 95:Room clean stylish but claustrophobic and cold. Don't accept room 108. Very small. Windows very high. Awkward shape. Heat builds only when room card triggers electrics. Tried to relay disappointment direct to staff. Was advised manager would contact. This did not happen. Was surprised at this poor outcome.
Review 96:Stylish hotel . Staff welcoming. Very central.
Review 97:There could be a full length mirror installed in the room, maybe on the inside of the wardrobe as there wasn't one and this would also help with a vanity mirror as I had to go to the bathroom with no shelf to place products. Also the eggs florentine was absolutely drowning in sauce, pity as the eggs and muffin would have tasted so much nicer with a smaller spoonful of sauce.
Review 98:There was ample parking even though it is in the centre of Stirling. The bah was large and the bed amazingly soft. The area was quiet and a good nights sleep was had. The staff were very pleasant. Dining was a lovely setting and a made to order breakfast as opposed to buffet.
Review 99:Cleeky reception area and the little green light that's on in room at night I know it's something that I shouldn't complain about but it really annoyed me when I was trying to sleep and effected my 2 nights stat as I like. Complete darkness that's all
Review 100:Great hotel great location great food !!!
Review 101:Nothing :)
Review 102:I had a Christmas party evening at the hotel so decided to book a room. So glad I did! It was lovely, big comfy bed, free wifi and great bathroom. Staff were lovely and was minutes walk away from my work in town.
Review 103:no Wi-Fi no tea and coffee in room bathroom ceiling leaking water not for the first time by look of ceiling room looks to be used by hotel guests who don't pay full amount
Review 104:location, breakfast, ambiance within hotel.
Review 105:No food orders encouraged in bar area in afternoon. Encouraged to go to restaurant but didn't want to as had dinner reservation in restaurant later. Finally told could order sides from restaurant menu. Very limited choice. Waited 15 mins before our drinks order was taken. Told to stay seated and waiting staff would attend but other people were served at bar. No mint available for cocktails. Bedroom beautiful but tiny. Lack of attention to detail - no mirror near sockets for hair drying etc. No demister element on bathroom mirror. Room and bathroom freezing on arrival. Lack of info from reception and in-room info regarding breakfast/check-out times/wifi etc. Sounds a bit picky but things that should be taken for granted in a 5 star hotel. Did enjoy our one night break but wouldn't necessarily recommend. Disappointed.
Review 106:Beautiful surroundings, furnishings and decor. Food in restaurant good but not excellent! Some restaurant staff extremely friendly and helpful (girl with dark wavy hair) and Irish girl.
Review 107:ok we got a deal albeit not a great one,but the deluxe double bedroom was so small we could hardly move around in it .it might be just big enough for a single room. that was are only complaint.
Review 108:hotel and staff really good. the food was absolutely brilliant. location was just right.
Review 109:Our initial welcome was lukewarm to say the least and we were greeted with a prosthetic smile. Despite requesting a first floor room we were given a ground floor room next to customer toilets for the restaurant. The room was small, albeit comfortable. Breakfast was disappointing, not exactly five star luxury. The morning staff were inattentive and we had to wait half an hour for tea and coffee. It was also quite a pricey menu, £15 for an English Breakfast made the continental sundries seem more appealing. There were no blackout blinds across a large shutter type blind in the room which lit the room at night and in the morning - no chance of a lie in after a few drinks the night before. There was also no mini-bar in the room. The tea tray was adequate but it had no coffee. The whole experience was a little lack-lustre for a ''luxury" hotel. It felt more like a four star with some forced extras. The place seemed a little soulless, lacking personality and definitely a work in progress. Perhaps not what people would expect visiting an historical town like Stirling. A warm Scottish welcome, great customer service and a comfortable place would have been better!
Review 110:Location was great! Staff in the restaurant were friendly and food was pleasant and reasonably priced. Bed was excellent. Room service was prompt and young staff members pleasant. Room décor was fitting of a five star hotel.
Review 111:Room tiny although well decorated.Room was cold as heater was behind curtain. Christmas Party going on in hotel lasted until small hours. Emergency door left opened so sound was unbearable.
Review 112:Great food and service.
Review 113:We couldn't get parked at the hotel so had to park a bit away from the hotel. When we arrived we weren't informed that breakfast was included in our package. I thought it was room only. It was only when we were checking out when we got our bill that it was a bed n breakfast rate. By that time it was to late for breakfast.
Review 114:We had a great night at the hotel. The food was amazing. Great value for money.
Review 115:Black and white decor throughout Lighting switches didn't work logically. Couldn't have bedside light would only work if bathroom light was on Limited parking
Review 116:Comfortable bed Large bathroom Good sized room
Review 117:The room was small and directly above where they take out the empty bottles so was rather a lot of noise. Wifi was no good think due to the location of the room
Review 118:Loved the style of the hotel and the bar and had lovely food in the restaurant
Review 119:- The shower - water escaping through the seal and the design of the door meant the water was spraying everywhere outside the shower, making the floor VERY slippy!
Review 120:- Size and comfort of bed - Staff were good - attentive without being annoying - Looks good (if a bit blingy) - The Stornoway Black Pudding was actually from Stornoway (loads of places fake it)
Review 121:Had a room on the top floor last visit but the lift doesn't go there and the walk along the corridors to get to the staircases was quite long. The rooms to one side are very overlooked from the hotel next door and there are no blinds or nets for privacy.
Review 122:Service and staff friendliness much improved over previous 2 visits. Much better atmosphere generally. Very posh rooms just a few small touches not yet complete. Overall a lovely stay.
Review 123:Hot water in bath was only warm.
Review 124:Fabulously comfortable bed. The best ever in a hotel so far. Very clean. Very modern. Well equipped room. Friendly, helpful, efficient, staff. Good food. Relaxing bar.
Review 125:Very poor wifi, couldn't even process the credit card. No phone in the room. Scales didn't work. Room very small, no plug for the basin and no tissues.
Review 126:Rooms were well presented. Some nice touches like the sleep scent. Service in the restaurant top class, and really friendly and efficient.
Review 127:too much "stuff" in the rooms with nowhere to put them - cushions, robes, kettles, toiletries - all good but made it very cluttered with no flat surfaces to put anything. Very big furniture like the bed didn't help the sense of clutter. Same thing in the restaurant - huge chairs but oddly low in relation to the table
Review 128:very comfortable bed good shower good food
Review 129:Wifi was poor to non-existent in rooms. Lots of small mistakes and oversights, understandable in a new hotel
Review 130:Staff excellent, yet not as well informed about Stirling as one might like Brand new renovation of an historic property, black and white not to my taste but well done. Breakfast buffet was good
Review 131:Jus shower pressure for hot water was not much pressure but everthing else was perfect Food was abit problem we eat vegetarian not that much food variety for that it's a 5 star think should do more or pizza menu to for kids Thanks
Review 132:The bed quality cushion realy gd and room I got was realy gd and nice view
Review 133:Nothing
Review 134:Everything, chic, fun, smart and very comfortable. Great room, attentive staff, there is nothing we didn't like about this hotel. Oh and the food is to die for! Location is perfect for seeing the sights in Stirling.
Review 135:When we were there, the hotel was relatively new - which was obvious because of many details which were not as they should have been (too many to list them down here) - in the equipment of the rooms as well as in the general service management. It's luxurious, but with regular hickups. I hope that the management will be able to get this fixed over time ...
Review 136:Luxury hotel with a certain style, although the façade (which is very beautiful) has nothing to do with what you find behind ...
Review 137:Great location,great food.Household and Bar/Restaurant staff polite,efficient and friendly.Thanks to cleaners place is immaculate(Well done Mary).
Review 138:Our room was very small with a half of the window which we could not leave opened during the night because of the noise. Also we could hear all the visitors coming because the corridor door was just behind our heads. WiFi connection was very unstable.
Review 139:Location of this hotel is exelent to observe the town and to visit the famous castle. Breakfast was pretty good. The parking place is comfortable.
Review 140:Room was rather hot at night. Also the sockets were in odd places and not very accessible. The mirror was not newr the socket for the hair dryer for example and we had to move the bedside tables to get to the sockets to plug in our mobile phones.
Review 141:Beds were comfy, bathroom was spectacular, staff were very helpful and friendly -especially Ryan in the bar.
Review 142:Was a grand experience from the time you walked in until you checked out, staff were so helpful and accommodating. Our first visit to Scotland and if I get to return I would start with them.
