Reviews for The Lowry Hotel
Review 1:1) Check in isn't til 2 o'clock and we knew we'd get there earlier but figured we'd leave our bags and go shopping. When we got there at 8.30 in the morning they checked to see if a room was ready for us and one was so we were able to settle in straight away. 2) It was my friends birthday so when I was booking the hotel I requested a bottle of prosecco to be delivered to the room. When it arrived they brought a board with happy birthday iced on it and a few small sweets and small cake on it which was a really nice touch from the hotel and that's the difference between this hotel and others ones.
Review 2:Having a pay for the car park.
Review 3:The bedroom, bathroom, the bed was very comfortable and big. The breakfast was fabulous everything you could think of very good.
Review 4:Can't think of anything.
Review 5:Perfect location. Staff very helpful. Lovely river view room with plenty of space to walk around without bumping into each other.
Review 6:Big bed, but having 2 memory foam toppers on made it very uncomfortable as left a gap in middle of bed.... I don't mind paying extra for mini bar but the prices on your mini bar are rediculous, possibly the most expensive I've come across
Review 7:Nice decor Friendly staff Location
Review 8:Unfortunately, the heating in the room wasn't working, house keeping brought a heater but it took most of the night to get warm. We were given a discount to reflect the inconvenience.
Review 9:Dinner and breakfast was very enjoyable. We also loved the relaxing ambiance in bar. All the staff were friendly welcoming.
Review 10:Warmest welcome, unbeatable location, modern rooms, a menu with too many delightful offerings and the friendliest hotel staff encountered in Manchester so far! By far the best!
Review 11:Beds were not ready for us as per our booking which was sorted quickly but this left us without working key cards on the 6th floor. View was not great - would have preferred a view towards town - Shame as the hotel and area seemed quiet enough for this to be possible.
Review 12:Room spacious with comfortable beds. Lovely bar area and convenient car parking. Great location for a city centre break.
Review 13:From the moment we arrived everyone was so welcoming and friendly. My husband mentioned it was a special visit for my special birthday after which the staff left chocolates and a birthday card on our room. Lovely touch. The food in the restaurant was wonderful and the service was excellent. What a wonderful hotel.
Review 14:Nothing to dislike
Review 15:Super location with parking All staff very smart/sharp friendly & efficient Nothing is too much trouble and attention to detail is second to none
Review 16:We were on the top floor but a noise sounding like heating pipes kept me awake
Review 17:I was asked at reception if my stay was for an occasion I said yes birthday and when I got back to the room later there was a dessert and a birthday card waiting for me .. A lovely touch.
Review 18:excessively priced - deposit taken against room charges, but not refunded. We had to cancel second night, but still charged full amount. Refused to offer credit against a future booking or to offset against room charges. Bar and restaurant overpriced and poor service in restaurant 1 hour wait before desert order was taken after main course had been cleared
Review 19:Large Spacious Rooms, Clean and Modern
Review 20:N/A
Review 21:Fantastic location, beautiful large rooms (with a fab bathroom) and very helpful and friendly staff. The restaurant and amenities are also top quality. We even got to see the Manchester United team leave for a match which was a huge unexpected bonus!
Review 22:Minor irritations in bedroom e.g. flashing switch for bedside lamps. Soft mattress and no choice of pillows. Bathroom wall had splash marks next to washbasin. Easy chair in bedroom had dubious stain on seat.
Review 23:public areas including restaurant
Review 24:The staff were very friendly and tried to help in any way they could. The bedroom was immaculately clean and the enormous bed was extreemly comfortable. We also liked not to have to checkout till noon.
Review 25:When we asked if the television played DVDs staff immediately sought one out on our behalf and set it up. Beyond the call of duty.We were made to feel so very welcome by staff who were anxious to ensure our experience was totally positive.
Review 26:Staff is not behaving well, we arrived did booking for one room and requested for one more but in front desk staff Jennifer all the sudden said no room only one room left for 2500 pounds for the presidential suite which means no then we request for full cancellation of our booking so we can go to other hotel she mentioned that we will be charged full the room even if we don't stay finally the manager mr Gresh which was a nice person he helped and gave another room which she refused. The breakfast there was no service we waited for 30 minutes and left with out breakfast, we requested for shaving kid and not received at all we complain all this to hotel manager she apologized and mentioned that was sent to wrong room
Review 27:Nothing
Review 28:Hotel parking for a guest as expensive short term car park in aeroport and car park it's outside no cover. Have to walk in the rain to the car.(none sense prices for parking as a guest).
Review 29:Best food and service at this restaurant ( Highly recommended).Good Hotel, walking distance to city center, big rooms, clean, staff not perfect but profesional and very helpfful.
Review 30:Nothing, I had a really pleasant stay!
Review 31:The staff provided an excellent standard of service and were very polite and friendly. Very large and extremely comfortable king size beds. Lovely breakfast, great coffee and well cooked full English!
Review 32:Leaving to go home !!
Review 33:Very large, comfortable room and bathroom. Very, very clean. 10 minute stroll to the Arndale. Lovely staff. Felt very luxurious. I would definitely stay again and would highly recommend.
Review 34:Everything was lovely. Shame about the view from the back of the hotel over the car park. Must be better on a clear sunny day as you'd be able to see the hills in distance.
Review 35:Very friendly hotel in great location.Staff couldn't have been more helpful. Lovely bar. Felt very comfortable. Breakfast was fantastic, great choice and all very fresh.
Review 36:Bathrobes were a bit "threadbare", only one pair of slippers and one small bottle of water were put in the room during turndown. There were two of us. To be honest, I think the bathroom could be updated. It is a little bit dated.
Review 37:Nice welcome, good location, excellent staff. Very nice.
Review 38:Not a bad experience but I emailed the hotel saying it was my daughter's birthday and we were eating in the restaurant and could they possibly acknowledge it, I was hoping for a desert with a candle, alas it didn't arrive :( Foyeur/entrance not at all grand, very sparse and clinical with no Christmas tree!
Review 39:The roomy rooms Excellent dinner in the restaurant Helpful & polite staff
Review 40:We booked a spa day and unfortunately it had got mixed up and we had to arrange for another day. Bit upsetting as it was our anniversary.
Review 41:Everything was lovely with our stay. Breakfast was beautiful.
Review 42:Linens in bedroom were not luxurious. Very expensive for breakfast - not included.
Review 43:Spacious room. Excellent location for what we needed. Parking (not too expensive). Staff were very nice and professional.
Review 44:We found the lighting in our room (105) very poor. There was a large dressing table and chair with a lovely mirror but insufficient light to do our make-up and hair. Our view off the car park was also a negative.
Review 45:The welcoming, obliging staff made our stay so comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble.
Review 46:Only the fact we had only booked for one night!
Review 47:We were given a complimentary upgrade to a luxury suite on arrival. Our stay was excellent from start to finish.
Review 48:We ordered breakfast to our room for 9am but they had forgotten our order so we had to order again. Breakfast turned up late which made us rushed for what we'd arranged that day. They didn't charge us for breakfast and it was very nice so we were happy with how it was dealt with.
Review 49:Loved the room and meeting Louis Val Gaal in the lift !
Review 50:In room dining is limited, especially the late night menu options. Don't like 2 single beds pushed together to make a king, thats not a king - and the gap in the middle is very noticeable. Although the bedding and the comfort on either side was very pleasant. Later check out would be nice even if you didn't use the time it would relax the check out on the following morning. Reception are civil but a little sobersided.
Review 51:Room is spacious, well laid out, bath/shower is powerful and fast. Decent sized TV with good reception.
Review 52:I have nothing to complain about.
Review 53:The hotel staff are very attentive and pleasant at all times, nothing is to much trouble. The rooms are modern and very clean. I particularly enjoyed the breakfast. We would definitely stay again .
Review 54:Price of break fast. Absolute NO value For coffe and toast.
Review 55:Getting back to good ways The turn down service Maybe there's a new manager as all staff Are back to level of 5 years ago
Review 56:Back on top table Stated many times however last 8 stats in Manchester used other hotels But thought we would give lowery one more Chance Really pleased we did Don't know if got new manager But absolutely great
Review 57:The receiption is not welcoming..outside of hotel is construction which makes quite smoky around. Quite empty in the long passage. No swimming pool!
Review 58:Breakfast is good. Location is quite central.
Review 59:Steps at front and rear of hotel...wife has a knee issue and there are no disabled facilities
Review 60:Staff were very helpful from booking dinner in a near by restaurant to putting ice packs in a freezer
Review 61:Reception staff very professional to the extent that there is very little personality there. Reported noise on two occasions nothing done about it. Not made aware of complementary items and use of spa. Paid extra for upgrade but too be honest city view would have been ok.
Review 62:The room was a supreme room overlooking the river. Second floor recently refurbished. Couldn't fault the room and housekeeping team very attentive and hekpful. Reported noise on two occasions nothing done about it just told what time noise should cease. Breakfast was amazing and staff very attentive and accommodating polite and friendly.
Review 63:Staff were very friendly and accommodating. I attended 24 hours prior to check in to request certain items be placed in the room before we arrived for our stay and they were more than happy to assist. Additionally, we were permitted to check in a few hours before the scheduled time.
Review 64:No bad experience other than the prices in the river bar, however one should bear in mind it is a 5 star hotel
Review 65:efficiency of check in staff and very friendly staff in the River Bar, it was a pleasant evening so prior to going out we had a couple of drinks on the terrace, Bar Staff were very attentive
Review 66:Room turn down poor. Breakfast poor quality ingredients for price. A late night function caused noise through until 1.30am
Review 67:good central location. room good size and clean
Review 68:Fabulous bedroom with lovely river and city views. Lovely food in the restaurant and wonderful breakfast served on trolley in the bedroom.excellent service.
Review 69:Paying £16.50 to use their car park was the only gripe but this is now the norm with many city centre hotels.
Review 70:Luxury, relaxed atmosphere, great bar and restaurant. Even standard bedroom was WOW. Not a pretty location BUT so easy to walk into town.
Review 71:Unusual to have mainly green teabags provided and no regular/breakfast-type; possible to request this but should be a standard provision. Pity about the building work outside the hotel. Could be quite noisy early in the morning.
Review 72:All the staff were really friendly and helpful. Room was lovely and very spacious. Easy to walk into central Manchester to museums, shops, restaurants etc. I left my camera in the taxi to the station when going home and only discovered it was missing when on the train. Phoned the hotel and they were very helpful in tracking down the taxi driver - especially the concierge, Andrew. Andy the taxi-driver was brilliant too and packed up my camera so that it could be picked up and delivered back to me. Lots more to see and do in Manchester. We will definitely be back!
Review 73:Only slight negative is the price. That said, it kind of goes with the territory.
Review 74:Staff were excellent, suite was mega. Everything about this hotel is great.
Review 75:But pricey, but all in all good Think residents should be parking free of charge in this quality of hotel.
Review 76:Great hotel, super rooms , very helpful staff. Great breakfast , well looked after.
Review 77:it was booked as a birthday present which were put in notes when booked but no attempt made to help celebrate like other hotels, plus some lights in the room didnt work
Review 78:good location, & very clean, bed was very comfy
Review 79:Everything was amazing. Jaw droppingly gorgeous room, room service amazing like being sat in a restaurant in our pyjamas, breakfast perfect, staff excellent, location just close enough but not amongst the craziness
Review 80:The whole experience of staying at such a beautiful hotel. The staff were fantastic and couldn't help us enough. Will definitely be returning in the future
Review 81:Location,was brilliant. interior design and the design & furniture in the bedrooms. Bed was extremely comfortable. Reception staff were so helpful & friendly.
Review 82:The tap in the bathroom sink pours directly onto the edge of the sink; causing water to splash all over the area behind it. Having to pay a lot for parking
Review 83:The room was clean and spacious, the staff were really friendly. I loved the toiletries. Breakfast was great, the speedy check in and checkout saved my time.
Review 84:Paying for the car park!
Review 85:We liked the friendly reception we got as soon as we stepped out of the car. Excellent customer service especially the receptionist .
Review 86:King bed isn't king size, it's two singles bed and joind together, so while you're sleeping it opened in the middle. Windows can't open.
Review 87:Room size was perfect , good location, The TV is smart Tv and include sky sports, staff was very friendly
Review 88:Had to fetch service in terrace bar Offered £120 up grade basically parking paper and movies Did not tell us to order paper In morning could not find movie channel Room starting to look dated
Review 89:Very quiet
Review 90:It's not that I didn't like the following BUT: there were no biscuits in the tea-making facilities. We had no mini-bar and was told by the cleaner that room 101 was always dry? We couldn't have afforded items from it anyway but just found it strange that we weren't asked a preference. We overlooked the car-park but for one night wasn't a problem.
Review 91:The location was fantastic for the Printworks etc. The staff were superb from the valet to the check-in staff. The room facilities were almost perfect. free sky sports was very welcome :)
Review 92:The spa was poor. Probably the worst we have been to. Whilst the room was large, compared to other 5* hotels it was somewhat basic - more like 4* really.
Review 93:The bed was super comfortable and the room spacious. Concierge was excellent and the hotel is in a great location.
Review 94:We didn't take breakfast at the hotel, as it wasn't included in the deal price. At £20+ per person for breakfast, we thought it overpriced, as we've had breakfast at the hotel in the past, and although very nice, this price is not warranted. We instead visited the nearby Spinngfields, a fairly new development which has several restaurants and cafes, and our breakfasts here averaged £7 per head, about a third the price of the Lowry, and just as good.
Review 95:Close proximity to city centre, shops and restaurants.
Review 96:I thought the parking charge was a bit excessive considering we were staying overnight and the car park was practically empty. Also, there is no pool which is a bit of a shame.
Review 97:We like the location. You can walk into town easily. And there's lots of choice for shops, restaurants and bars just a few minutes walk away.
Review 98:Having to leave!!! Wish we'd booked for two nights!
Review 99:From the minute we arrived to the minute we checked in we were made to feel so welcome, the staff were outstanding! Our anniversary stay was certainly one to remember, with little extras as a surprise, I cannot thank the staff and management enough! We will definitely be back
Review 100:Needs a refurbishment, at least on the first floor rooms. If it is to remain competitive.
Review 101:Concierge were excellent, the front desk great. The bar was good.
Review 102:The trouser press in my room was completely broken and unuseable . On a business trip I needed it. Reported it on the Monday morning ; still not repaired before I left at Midday the next day ...
Review 103:Comfort / staff
Review 104:I would like it even more if it had a pool. But nothing to dislike about this hotel.
Review 105:Lovely hotel with friendly service and near where I wanted to be.
Review 106:Nothing at all
Review 107:Exceptional hotel staff very attentive rooms very large and bed very comfy, breakfast was delicious with a wide choice and the staff very friendly.
Review 108:I stayed here as a treat for my 30th birthday. On arrival we were told we had been upgraded to a superior room, and there was a little birthday cake waiting for me in the room. A very nice touch which made a truly excellent stay even more special!
Review 109:Nothing we didn't like
Review 110:Me and my partner both love everything about this hotel!! We've stayed here twice now and will definitely be coming back!
Review 111:The staff made my partners birthday fantastic, from the greeting upon arrival to having a birthday plate in the room as a surprise. We had a birthday lunch at the River Bar & Grill again an awesome reception alone with a birthday plate which came out with our champagne....the waiter singing happy birthday was also well received! It's the little touches which made it a stay to remember
Review 112:We were greeted by a pleasant Concierge, as it was our 27th Wedding Anniversary our room was upgraded to a beautifully furnished 6th floor room with a view of the river. In the bar I was served the best Kir Royale I have ever had. The breakfast was excellent & the service throughout was first class.
Review 113:Concierge are somewhat lofty Concierge are very territorial about the car park, asking questions like, are you a guest, what is your room number, have you paid for parking, let me check first.
Review 114:Bright spacious room location
Review 115:I went as a group of 12 for a hen party. All of the staff were very welcoming and helpful; all but one. When we decided to go check out the spa one individual therapist did not look happy to see us there. In fact she made us feel as if we were second class and wasn't good enough for the hotel. Especially when she (not so kindly) asked us to stay in the left hand side room so we didn't mingle with the rest of the guests. One of our group did mention something to her in which her response again wasn't nice. After speaking to a man from concierge her attitude did change. Luckily we didn't let her ruin our weekend it did just taint it slightly for that afternoon. Other than that the rest of our stay was very lovely.
Review 116:The hotel was beautiful. Very modern and clean. The room sizes were extremely good and the location excellent.
Review 117:Been coming for a while and it's getting tired in the bedrooms. Should have irons in the room 5 star or not it's about convenience.
Review 118:Staff are excellent and the bar is nice
Review 119:The chair in the bedroom is not suitable to sitting in to work at a laptop.
Review 120:Excellent supper, friendly staff, very comfortable bed, immaculately clean.
Review 121:Pre-service for dinner. we arrived 15 minutes early and ordered a drink, telling the waiter that we had a reservation for 8.30. The drink was not brought to us for 10 minutes. I then had to remind the man at the desk of our reservation. Our order was taken until after 9 and we sat down at the table at 9.20 (for an 8.30 reservation). In contrast the service at breakfast was excellent.
Review 122:Room, comfort, friendly and efficient staff.
Review 123:Neither of my special requests regards the room were met however as explained on arrival, it may have been due to no availability. For a 5* property, it wasn't a very warm reception. The mattrasses were put together to form a double so had to stick to either side of the bed so as to avoid the middle.
Review 124:The room is a good size, with a comfortable bed. Positioned on the first floor. During the weekend, it was very quiet along our floor. Tea and coffee facilities quite basic. Cocktails are very good, and bar staff took care to ask about preferences before mixing. We had a lovely lady, Sandra, take it up to our room. The staff were agreeable and allowed us to extend check-out time on a complimenatry basis. On site parking available.
Review 125:Mini bar was unfortunately miss-sold to us on arrival, we were told at reception that £50 would be automatically added to our room bill for the use of the mini bar and anything that was not consumed would be refunded to our account on checkout, we were not made aware of any price list in our room for the mini bar and so we wrongly and costly assumed that the sum total of the mini bar was £50, one bottle of average white wine, a small bag of maltessers, mini bottle of Bacardi, can of coke and sprite cost a huge £65, which was added to our bill on checkout, this came as a massive surprise to us and we felt misled. We also expected a relaxing spa, in reality the facilities totalled at a tiny 2 person sauna, a "relaxation room" with 2 deck chairs, a small treatment area and a water drink dispenser, the lady on reception at the spa was most unhelpful, and I unfortunately had to greet her, as she stared at us vaguely when we got to the counter. Also, my husbands car boot was not locked on his valuable vintage car by the porters who had parked it for us.
Review 126:Location, staff, views, cleanliness, finer details.
Review 127:The hotel and the room are very big but unfortunately empty. The hotel does not have the 5 stars touch. Maybe 4 stars
Review 128:The staff are professional and highly trained
Review 129:Lovely stay for birthday with my son. Very friendly Jenny on reception was remarkably helpful and nice. Fab breakfast, large room plus nice touch of bday cake and card. Couldny fault stay.
Review 130:Amazing hotel. Really nice staff, especially Nicola in the reception and that super friendly man who had the receptiondesk during the nights. Cant say a bad word about the place.
Review 131:The bathroom was a bit small and poky.
Review 132:The restaurant was excellent - great service, staff and lovely food. Parking was easy. Room very comfortable. Staff were all pleasant and helpful but not annoyingly in your face. Enjoyed my stay - wish I had a reason to go more often.
Review 133:Price is a little high for the facilities available. I thought that the hotel rates as a 4*+ but not quite 5* level.
Review 134:Location of the hotel is fantastic for city centre Manchester. The hotel was easy to Locate with adjacent car parking. very comfortable room.
The Fine Print
Please note that guests wishing to dine at at River Bar & Grill are advised to book a table in advance.
