Reviews for Clubhouse Hotel and Orchid Restaurant

Review 1:Location was excellent near the town but in a quiet road. Staff, accommodation and food were all excellent and we have no complaints other than our stay was too short!!!

Review 2:Only negative was heating wasn't on in the room when we arrived and was absolutely freezing took a while to heat up.

Review 3:Staff were very friendly, the room was excellent value for money and furnishings were beautiful and tastefully done. Bar area is very modern, cocktails are amazing and food was absolutely delicious will definitely be returning.

Review 4:Hotel was beautifully decorated and clean. The bed was very comfortable and there was a bath and shower in a large bathroom. The staff were friendly and they catered well for a special diet. We will definitely go again.

Review 5:the room on arrival had a strong smell of paint the room had not been vacuumed , the bed pillows were smelling of body odour. no pillow protectors under slips. my partner was bitten while in the bed during the night. the front of the building bar etc four star. but the quality of the room and bedding would may be a two star.

Review 6:The staff were very good and helpful. the front of house looked good

Review 7:The staff were superb and couldn't do enough to help The room was massive and the bar was really good. The food looked excellent and unfortunately didn't get to sample it because of a booked meal in advance. I will definitely be back and will eat there the next time.

Review 8:One bedlight spotlight didn't work. Not much privacy. Very poor natural light.

Review 9:Walk-in shower, really big bed, very friendly and helpful staff, good food, bright decor

Review 10:Came back in the evening two in a row and the bar was closed 9.30pm not so happy about that couldn't get a night cap.

Review 11:Our room was lovely clean and comfortable

Review 12:The breakfast took a bit long , got our toast when we were nearly finished eating the cooked breakfast, even though there was noone else

Review 13:Very good shower Spacious rooms with big tv Clean

Review 14:Bar seating furniture not the comfiest when using during afternoon. TV's were all on a sports channel with no sound.

Review 15:Bright and well maintained on the whole, and we'll appointed and comfortable bedroom (although the steep staircase to the top rooms was a bit precarious). Dinner was exceptional, with plenty of choice on the menu.

Review 16:Stairs up to second floor were a bit steep and narrow making it awkward carrying a suitcase. Would have liked to eat in the dining room in the evening.

Review 17:Food was excellent Bed was really comfy

Review 18:They had two single beds tided together to make it queen, you continually was falling in the center. It was not comfortable.

Review 19:Very clean and upgraded rooms, very nice

Review 20:I would prefer a bar of soap to the liquid dispenser I would like to access subtitles on your TV's

Review 21:The staff were efficient, friendly and extremely helpful. This applies to Receptionist - waitress and cleaner. It is my 3rd stay and I enjoyed it. However would prefer to stay in the main hotel rather than room 15

Review 22:The hotel is light bright and modern .very clean with excellent food. The room had its own sitting room .the bed was very comfortable.staff extremely friendly and always relaxed and smiling.

Review 23:Nothing

Review 24:Loved our stay. The hotel was lovely, well decorated and the room was a great size. We ate in the restaurant and the food was amazing. Breakfast was fab, everything cooled to order. I can recommend the Eggs Benedict. We will definitely be back.

Review 25:Very friendly staff. Nice clean hotel and restaurant. Local beers in the bar. The hotel put on an early breakfast for those staying there that were competing on the Coast to Coast race the next day.

Review 26:Nothing really bad, bath screen seal leaked a little but not going to lower the max score due to this.

Review 27:Very large comfortable room, huge TV, bed and also a couch and desk. (Room 9) decent shower also which is a bonus. Meal very good (steak and blue cheese sauce) Excellent attentive staff, felt bad getting them to make me a couple of cheeky cocktails last thing at night. Breakfast also excellent, cooked and continental available. Nice fire pit outside also which wasn't in use but imagine would be a great atmosphere there.

Review 28:Friendly staff, modern decor in a spotlessly clean room and a good location within Nairn. Easy to access from the Inverness road and close to the beachfront esplanade and golf course. The hotel bar had a very modern and upmarket feel with friendly staff

Review 29:Dirty glasses in the room when we arrived. The wood floor was sticky --just felt it could have been cleaner though it appeared ok.

Review 30:The room was spacious and bright. Location was good --we walked everywhere from there.

Review 31:The hotel was modern and clean but rug in room was dirty. Just needs a little deep cleaning in some areas.

Review 32:Big bed , good sized room, big bathroom. Good location. Modern. nice staff

Review 33:The cleanliness of the room wasn't up to start. It wasn't dirty or that, more like it had been rushed. But it wouldn't put me off staying again.

Review 34:The staff were very friendly and helpful and went out of their way to accommodate us.

Review 35:Clean, friendly staff, very accommodating, also related to my son's food and other allergies. Very nice room, well set-up. All in all a short but pleasant stay.

Review 36:Bathroom had a little mould around the taps and on some of the tiles.

Review 37:Modern theme to this hotel, room I was in was large, well appointed and clean, bathroom did the job, food was very good and excellent breakfast

Review 38:Bathroom needed a complete overhaul. Black mould around bath and sink. Extra sealant had obviously been added at some point but it was extremely poorly executed. Had dinner at hotel on our first nights stay. Booked a table when we arrived in afternoon, but our details were not passed to reservation list, although we did get a table when we appeared at 7pm. Three teenage staff for a busy nights service covering the bar and restaurant. While they were pleasant there was no one in charge to ensure service was efficient. We opted not to order any starters and had to wait an hour for main courses to arrive. Stonebaked pizza did not have the crispy base it should have if cooked in wood-fired pizza oven. The three times cooked chips were complete disappointment, what was served was soggy potato wedges. Onion rings were home made and crispy though. After we had finished eating we sat for at least 30 minutes hoping someone would clear the table and we could sign for the bill. During this time there was no sign of any staff. My husband eventually had to go looking in the bar for staff to sort bill. Ate elsewhere the second night.

Review 39:The public areas are clean, modern, bright and well laid out. Bedroom was spacious, bright and bed large and comfortable.

Review 40:Rooms on the top floor (appear to be converted attic rooms with sloping ceiling) are difficult to access.

Review 41:Friendly reception and staff. Breakfast was very good

Review 42:Restaurant is just a bar really. There was a wedding on. Guests were very rowdy with only a very young staff on duty.

Review 43:Very central to walk to Nairn town centre.

Review 44:While we liked our room, didn't like having to walk round outside of hotel in morning to get breakfast as side was locked. Glad it wasn't raining!!

Review 45:Room 16. Outside hotel, round back and upstairs. Had a separate sitting/tv room. Lovely and quiet and spacious. Breakfast very good.

Review 46:Breakfast was badly organised Was impossible to lock door from the inside Leakage in roof - woke up at 6am from drips hitting the hard wood floor Wifi connection very weak No proper toiletries in the bathroom - only basic wall mounted pump for all-in-one shower gel

Review 47:The location, very close to the stunning Nairn beach. Nice old building modernly done up. Even though the downstairs area was loud and busy the room was quiet.

Review 48:Narrow stairway to top floor could be difficult if you are on the older side. Little run down hallways. Staff a bit stressed, but by all means they did the best they could.

Review 49:Food was excellent, dinner and brekkie! And service too. Room we stayed in very good sice, top floor and quiet.

Review 50:I think it was a busy weekend. The staff seemed under pressure and were 'multi -tasking' which meant they were not able to give guests the best attention. Unfortunately we were unable to get a table for dinner because the restaurant and bar were fully booked at the time.

Review 51:The rooms are nicely decorated and we felt welcome in the hotel.

Review 52:That must the rudest hotel owner/receptionist in the whole ("great" British) island! He greeted with with telling me that his place was full and that booking.com had messed this up like it did "a week before". Afer a few minutes of letting me wait whilst busily looking at his computer sreens I heard from him I was "in luck" since a lady who had checked in had left (she was very sick in the room) and I could have "her" room. He did not bother having the room cleaned/tidied or anything, it was just as he left it, with pillows strewn and used towels in the bathroom (she had presumably been sick in). Breakfast was a joke and the chap continued with his deprecating attitude and communication. At least he sold "his" room twice...

Review 53:Quiet and reasonably dark room.

Review 54:I loved the nice big room, bed was so comfy! Loved the handmade shortbread in a little jar every day:-))) all of the staff I met were very friendly and helpful and the food in the bistro was excellent, as was the wine. I would really recommend this hotel.

Review 55:A poor and small room, in a noisy area next to the parking lot. The door opens directly into the parking lot. The room looks like a shabby motel room. (We ordered a deluxe room...) Be warned - they have several rooms like this ! Reception staff behaved rude. Throughout the entire trip in Scotland, people were always friendly and nice, We were surprised to find that the hotel staff in The Clubhouse Hotel is so rude.

Review 56:Doors don't keep out much noise - we were woken by our very loud neighbours in the hall. Bit of a walk into the town centre.

Review 57:Really nicely decorated hotel. We booked a double bedroom which was two double beds. Bed was very comfortable! Had everything we needed, including a hairdryer.

Review 58:Nothing!

Review 59:We stayed in October to go to a wedding. We had a fabulous stay at the Clubhouse. Staff were extremely friendly & helpful, food was very tasty and our room was spacious, clean, comfortable and modern.

Review 60:Nothing at all!

Review 61:I did not realize it had 4 stars but it deserves them all! The changes which have been made ( from the original B and B ) are spectacular and are all for the comfort of and service to guests!

Review 62:Bedrooms have no DG so blinds moved about with draft. Windowsills, rug and shower not very clean. Avoid as currently have work going on in some of the bedrooms We were in room 2 and were unable to have a shower or bath as no running cold water, cold water cuts off after about a minute so ended up having to finish washing my hair in the sink. Was reported at 5pm after we arrived was told it would be sorted but arrived back after attending a wedding dance and nothing had been done so no shower or bath in the morning either. Workmen started scrapping walls and banging in the bedroom next to ours at 7am in the morning Complained when we checked out and got an apology but that was all Very disappointing stay and will never return .

Review 63:Nice Décor Comfortable beds Good breakfast

Review 64:We had top floor rooms which were accessed by quite a steep narrow stair which would not be ideal for less able people

Review 65:A good location, excellent facilities, very friendly staff and really nice food both on the bar and the very comfortable restaurant

Review 66:The good bits were let down by the very poor breakfast choice. The quality of bathrooms were also poor. For a 4* Hotel to see the choice of continental breakfast placed on top of the bar counter was very disappointing to say the least. As our family don't eat cooked breakfast we asked the waiter for some yogurts or fresh fruit salad but were told this wasn't available!! Only cereal & some bananas & pears were available on the bar counter which we might expect in a budget Hotel but not in a luxury Hotel. The stair access/handrails to rooms 9 & 10 on the 2nd floor were also poor. We had a lovely evening meal in this Hotel a year ago & were tempted to stay there however wouldn't stay there again.

Review 67:The Bed's were very comfortable & the evening meals were excellent

Review 68:Bathrooms were small and currently being renovated, but not adequately clean. Window sills were blackened and quite filthy. Windows filled up with flies - so there is a hygiene issue somewhere inside or out.

Review 69:Location is good. Great building and a very pleasant breakfast.

Review 70:Outside light above glass roof of restaurant which switched off and on throughout evening. Quite uncomfortable and distracting.

Review 71:Comfort of rooms and standards of cleanliness.

Review 72:While the bathroom was large, it didn't seem 'done-up' like the rest of the hotel Our bathroom had gross looking water damage on the wall in the shower Wifi was terrible! Couldn't get any signal in our room, had to go into hall or lobby

Review 73:Breakfast was very good

Review 74:Our room, although nice enough, could have been a bit cleaner on arrival. Found it a bit strange having to cut through the restaurant to get to our room which meant going outside. The room was advertised as a deluxe double room and I struggle to find the deluxe factor. Also did not find it value for money at £120 a night

Review 75:Plenty of parking, quiet location. The staff were pleasant, friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent and the meal we had in the bar was lovely too. The room was adequate for our purposes.

Review 76:The location Nairn didn't have much going on and didn't have any places to visit durning the day, however when my dad and I stayed here there was a huge funfair nearby on the seafront which perked it up a lot! APART FROM LOCATION, THE HOTEL WAS BEAUTIFUL AND FAULTLESS!!

Review 77:This was a modern beatifully decorated hotel. It was spotlessly clean and everyone at the hotel was nice! The bed was super comfy and the fact you could watch your flat screen TV from your bed was even better. Modern facilities such as iPod docking stations were around. The breakfast was something to look forward to aswell!! Highly recommend it here!!!

Review 78:Room had been poorly cleaned.kitchen door was next to ours so kitchen staff woke us early.ran out of some breakfast food no black pudding and outsiders for toast

Review 79:Nice big room

Review 80:The Wi-Fi was non exsistant when in the room, the signal was ok when in the bar/dinning area. The stairs leading up to the second floor were pretty tricky due to the steps on the stairs being very narrow.

Review 81:Friendly and attentative staff. Comfortable and clean throughout.

Review 82:Small room in a noisy position. Kitchen deliveries woke us about 6am & could hear tv & noise from adjacent rooms. Limited food choice in restaurant.

Review 83:Flat screen tv. Comfy bed & great shower.

Review 84:Booked in 3 weeks in advance for the evening meal in the restaurant but yet still got stuck through in the bar area. Poor staff attendance at the table. Starter was very nice main course poor told waitress but got no response. Room very small and bathroom deco could be better . This was our second visit first was excellent but second has changed our judgement .

Review 85:Tries a bit too hard to be trendy; can be a bit stark without some of the little luxury touches. Toilet far too close to the door of the bathroom. Not really close to Nairn town facilities and transport links - unless you have a car

Review 86:Clean. Approachable and helpful staff. Good restaurant food

Review 87:We had a fantastic three nights stay at the clubhouse and didn't want for anything. Martin made us feel really welcome on our arrival along with the rest of the staff. The owner has certainly put a lot of thought on the decor, as it is warm and comforting. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Nairn! *****

Review 88:Good location within walking distance to beach and town centre, Good food both at dinner and breakfast. Staff very friendly and efficient. Very comfy room and bed. Wi Fi seemed to be fast and responsive. Very good hotel

Review 89:Only minor needs attention is wifi in attic rooms

Review 90:Had a lovely meal, the special of the day a duck stir fry - delish. Lovely quirky hotel, great attention to detail. Fabulous lights especially in the bar area. Would highly recommend a stay, i will be back.

Review 91:Only thing being the bathroom could have been a bit larger and, being really picky, the lock on the room door was a bit difficult to manage.

Review 92:Liked the fact we were in one of the rooms adjoining the hotel. Lovely garden to sit in around the firepit. Good good and loved the funky decor in the hotel

Review 93:We asked for a room on the ground floor - which we got, but unfortunately they did not mention that the room was next to their function suite where a wedding dance was being held - with very noisy disco and guests - quite right they should enjoy the dance but I feel we should have been advised of this when booking.

Review 94:The bar area was lovely very modern and comfortable excellent food - breakfast cooked to order a nice change from normal buffet style breakfast. Friendly staff pleasant atmosphere

Review 95:On arrival the welcome greeting was most inappropriate . The phrase , " you guys", portrays an unprofessional image. The welcome was friendly and welll intentioned but this dreadful phrase was over used.

Review 96:Food was good

Review 97:Loved the room, clean and spacious with nice decor. Bar was modern and well stocked. Excellent breakfast!

Review 98:Beautifully decorated and very stylish. Large rooms very warm.

Review 99:Location

Review 104:Super place great meals

Review 105:Loved the room. Comfy king size bed. Food excellent. Lovely staff

Review 106:Food was great and staff very friendly. Also a good wedding party

Review 107:quality breakfast and dinner with good service.

Review 108:Nothing.

Review 109:Great room with WiFi and large TV. Friendly staff.

Review 117:second floor stairs

Review 118:We loved the cleanliness, decor, food and the friendliness off the staff.
