This family-run, newly renovated guesthouse is beautifully located in the idyllic town of Obertraun in the Salzkammergut region, only a few steps away from the shores of picturesque Lake Hallstatt.
Haus Hepi has a lounge area with sofas, a mini bar, tea and coffee-making facilities and a log-burning stove.
The panoramic mountain scenery can be admired from the bedrooms’ south-facing balconies and from the terrace.
The traditionally furnished rooms have modern bathrooms.
The hearty breakfast buffet is served on the sunny terrace in fair weather.

Review 2：Everything was perfect. The location is wonderful, the view from the room is amazing. The owners, Larry and Lisa are very kind and helpful. They gave us great tips where to go, what to see. The whole house is very clean, nice and warm - felt like home :)

I would recommend staying here without a heartbeat as it was a cozy, clean and comfortable stay in the Salzkammergut region. Review 12：Larry is a very nice person! He gives advice to everyone every morning. The room is warm and clean. Obertraun is a very quiet village near Hallstatt. I like this village more than Hallstatt.

Review 13：Everything is perfect~hosts came from UK, very warm and friendly. My friend and I liked also the room a lot as it was on the top and has a small balcony but with a excellent mountain view!

Review 14：The breakfast could have been better - there were no hot items offered, but it was decent. There was no refrigerator in each room; there was just a small communal one for all the guests. The wifi, although free, was very spotty.

Review 15：The house was typical Austrian (which is what we were looking for) in a very peaceful neighborhood, just a few minute drive from Hallstatt. Parking was free, and breakfast was included. Our room was cozy with welcoming decor, and the bathroom was very modern, with a great shower. Our room had a balcony with a very pretty view. The hosts were very friendly and gave great advice for things to see and do in the area, and they also speak English and German. Along with our room, their was also a nice den area that was available for all guests, with tables, couches, free snacks, games, etc. The house was extremely clean.

Review 17：Excellent large rooms with views over the mountains. Very helpful and friendly staff. Free parking for those with a car and free, strong Wifi. Good breakfast. Good base for exploring the area and very close to Hallstatt.

Review 18：I do wish the owner make an effort to design their own leaflet with maps and recommended attractions and also include train/bus times. That will be very helpful and visitors will love Haus Hepi even more!

Review 20：This is a B&B and not a hotel so don't expect bathrobes, slippers, and room service. All that said, what Lisa and Larry do, they do very well. The whole property was impeccably clean. Our room was very clean, was a good size, we'll laid out, and had great views. Continental breakfast was decent and more than adequate to get us to a good start for a day of exploring. Shower was great - lots of pressure and hot water. Larry and Lisa were great hosts - very friendly and welcoming, and all their sightseeing, walking, and restaurant recommendations were spot on. (Larry is a walking encyclopedia.) Great location for exploring Austria's Lake District. Would not hesitate to go back. Highly recommended!

All this was amazing but the hosts absolutely topped off the stay! It was like being welcomed into a friends house. It was warm and cosy! We wish we could have stayed longer!!

Review 30：We stayed 2 nights at Haus Hepi and tried to extend our stay but they were fully booked.0bertraun is 5 kms outside Hallstat and an excellent base to explore the area plus you miss the crowds of tourists at hallstat . Larry and Lisa keep the place immaculate, very friendly with lots of tips on what to do in the area.Larry is also an excellent chef so can highly recommend the evening meals.We will definitely be back!

We even changed plans and stayed an extra night. Obertraun is a wonderful town to walk around in. Better to stay here than in Hallstatt. Quiet.

Review 70：Larry & Lisa were the best, I think this was one of my most enjoyable experiences in accommodation. They are there to help when needed but happy to give you space if you prefer that. Their cooking is amazing and worth eating in for and the conversation with the other guests was a pleasant addition. At the rates they charge this was excellent value for money and I would definitely recommend them to others.

It must be the best choice for travelers when visiting Hallstatt. Don't choose Hallstatt hotel to spend your holidays, Obertraun certainly a better choice for you to see a different Hallstatt and furthermore, you have a chance to see the beautiful Obertraun. Review 100：I had attempted to stay in Hallstatt, but couldn't obtain a room so I "settled" at Haus Hepi in Obertraun. It was a wonderful second choice and after being there I realized it was the best option. Haus Hepi is in a very quiet location, away from the noise and hubbub of the touristy areas in Hallstatt, yes close enough to enjoy.

Review 101：Lisa and Larry were wonderful hosts and we will definitely try to visit them again. We liked the proximity to the Bahnhof and the easy access to the mountains. Both Lisa and Larry had good suggestions and recommendations for activities and local restaurants.
