Reviews for Stone Village Hotel Apartments

Review 1:you need a car

Review 2:In taverna are two kinds menus 1.special menu , that contains mainly traditional cretan cooker food. 2.standard menu , that contains mainly grilled food and dishes that can get ready in a few minutes. The restaurant is addressed only to hotel's customers , from the special menu they make only the dishes that you want and you order in the morning at the bteakfast area . Anyone that hasn't ordered in the morning , can order anything at night from the standar menu and also if there's anything left from the morning's orders

Review 3:we are a big family and we asked for bogger pots in the order to cook into apartments .They respont as soon as posskble. also we asked a more soft matress and they gave immidiately a perfect topper to us. Also the constrution materials which have been used (stone and wood ) are in natural situation without artificial investments-interventions Swimming pools are very clean .

Review 4:it adresses to people who want to live in a simple , beautiful and peaceful natural enviroment. It doesn t adress to people who look for luxury and services of five or four stars hotels

Review 5:stone village is a traditional cretan village and adresses to people that look for traditional holidays in creta and no in peple who look for luxury and glamorous

Review 6:My husband has got high back problems and we asked a more soft mattreess They immidiately put a great topper made by aloe vera which made the mattres excellent

Review 7:Room was no cleaned enough Pool was dirty Beds were hard A\C only in one room and only when windows in all the rooms were closed.

Review 8:Staff were nice. Bali is butifull

Review 9:The only negative thing, like many other previous guests have commented on,was the beds, they were very hard, we suggest new mattresses or at least toppers! And also better pillows!

Review 10:Thoroughly enjoyed our stay the staff were all very helpful and friendly. Excellent breakfast buffet! Very quiet and peaceful especially during the day when we often had the pool to ourselves!

Review 11:Although you can walk or take a small train its 10 minutes walk a rented car will be easier instead of walking in the heat

Review 12:This is a beauty full oasis perfect for family's with children or couples its peacefully quite super friendly staff green with a lot of plants recomented for everyone its the best place to be

Review 13:The fact you had to order dinner in the morning so it would be prepared. Although this has it's benefits it's hard to decide over the breakfast table. That said, we ate in the restaurant twice without having pre ordered and were offered a great range of what was left over. Fantastic food.

Review 14:Beautiful setting, rustic breakfast, friendly staff and ample space around the pool. Close enough to walk into Bali for the beach and shops.

Review 15:Unprofessional staff. Bad wifi inside apartment. You can hear everything from the other apartments. We found some coackroaches in the kitchen. We had to wait 45 minutes past check in time in order to get the room.

Review 16:Breakfast

Review 17:Everything was so good...

Review 18:Living in nice nature with hospitable and smiling face hotel owner. You feel like you at home. Everything designed for your relax. Already i see that Dimitris and his family want guests with comfort and pleasure. It was my first hotel in Greece and i was first turkish guest in hotel). You can live nature with nice trees everywhere and differnt kind of animals around. Like a heaven. Similing face personal and great mauntain views. Breakfast was perfect. Surely i will come back again...

Review 19:First step you make in Stone Village you realize that you are in heaven! Thank you so much Dimitris for such a huge work you've made to create this paradise and to all your lovely family that made our stay feel like home. Definately will come again! Yana, Alex and little Alexandra

Review 20:Zoo ok for the kids but it stinks. A little bit intricate layout of the hotel.

Review 21:Very friendly lady at the reception. Flintstones style accommodation – very original. Superb breakfast – 7 stars.

Review 22:The two bedroom apartments are far roomier than the family rooms. The two bedrooms each have their own air conditioning and there are 2 separate bedrooms. We had one aircon unit that only cooled the bedroom in was in. That person froze while everyone else was hot. Not on beach and there are a lot of options that are No beach towels towels not replaced Noise- you can hear people walking by Air con Third room is not a third room in the family rooms- it's the living space Wifi horrible

Review 23:The value of this place far exceeds its value- inexpensive option with charm Located in a quaint valley above Bali Beach, the hotel blends seamlessly into its surroundings with bugenvillia draped stone buildings shaded by mature trees, such as olive. The rooms are full of dark carved traditional wood furniture. The extensive breakfast showcases local products such as four varieties of honey, yogurt and milk from sheep, goats and cow, as well as traditional Greek dishes. Dinner is varied as well, and is an inexpensive option. The staff are friendly but in that fake way one comes to expect of beach resorts. There is plenty to do for families. As we were friends on holiday we opted to head to the beach each day, a 2 minute drive (15 minute walk).

Review 24:the traditional food was wonderful! mousakas was my favourite! the restaurant was very nice with the view of tree bananas left and right. the staff was net.

Review 25:we were riding the horses!!! It was a perfect experience! It was free admission and we were riding as many time as we wanted! It was the most interesting holidays I have ever done!!!!!!!

Review 26:Horrendous staircase in apartment, very poor finish to some aspects of internal construction, gloomy kitchen/living room area.

Review 27:Breakfast fantastic, very friendly staff, gardens beautiful, facilities comprehensive.

Review 28:Described as having 6 swimming pools there is 4 really and only 2 wereopen (the 70cm for kids was closed, staff unable to give explaination)Dirty water in pools. Only 1 air conditioning unit per house located inupstairs bedroom and it won't run unless you have all doors andwindows closed so it gets really hot downstairs. Stone apartments have abed smell, dirty floors. Apartments very close to each other so not muchprivacy. Kitchen poorly equiped. Wi-fi not available in higherapartments.

Review 29:Breakfast - masterpiece

Review 30:the facility is a bit used inside but any can be patched up with some silicon. lighting is dark in the room. hotels own restaurant is terrible, worst wine and feta cheese.

Review 31:Bali is a loveky fishing village located on the moutain. hotel is a bit far away from Bali so car is a must. nice garden and a small zoo for the kids

Review 32:Really need a car to access the various beaches in Bali On site Taverna was disaapointing in quality and service

Review 33:Unique architecture stone cottages set on hillside Friendly and welcoming staff Relaxing and peaceful pool areas

Review 34:No supermarket in the nearest proximity. Bali is crowded by Russians. NOT RECOMMENDED!

Review 35:Houses from natural stone and wood. Very grren. A Zoo for children. The best breakfast I ever had. Many swimming pools. Flexible price policy.

Review 36:Wifi is a bit temperamental ;) but we didn't mind too much as the place was so relaxing

Review 37:Theo and the team were welcoming and friendly throughout our stay and were always eager to help us if we needed anything. The village is quiet during the day so we had most the facilities to ourselves for the majority and our room was more than adequate. Will definitely return next time we visit Crete. Thank you :)

Review 91:Staff were really nice and helpfull and friendly and village nice

Review 92:Very nice atmosphere and excellent location for exploring the island. Extremely helpful staff. The hotel is great for children as it has swimming pools, playgrounds and a small zoo. Recommended!

Review 93:The bed mattress is not great. Really can be better.

Review 94:We liked relaxed atmosphere of the place. We got room with fantastic balcony view on the mountains. The breakfast was excellent. Hotel stuff is very helpful and friendly.

Review 95:Beds and pillows could be more comfortable. If you are sensitive to pillow, take your own with you. No ventilation in the bathroom. Hotel is about 1km from the beach, so you need a car.

Review 96:Authentic hotel, really makes an impression of village. Good breakfast with different kind of omelets and natural yoghurts, fresh orange juice. Hotel has Zoo which is a very good attraction for small kids. In evenings the hotel serves dinner in the garden under palm leafs. You can make a dish reservation for dinner.

Review 97:In case you were thinking about fooling around at night with your spouse… the rooms are not completely isolated from each other, so you can never get full privacy from the kids.

Review 98:Stone Village is a marvelous place, it’s the best hotel we’ve ever been to. Actually it doesn’t have the feeling of a hotel because you feel like you are in your own little Cretan village, except that everything is meant to serve your comfort needs and wellbeing. It not only looks great (with all the flowers, banana palm trees, pools, stone “streets” and villas, the view to the mountain of the mythical Talos etc.) but it IS great. The breakfast is fresh, delicious, varied and there’s plenty of it (which is good when you have 4 hungry lions like our kids) and the Cretan meals at the restaurant are also very tasty. The rooms are cleaned every day while you’re away, you get fresh towels, and the fire ants which tend to enter your room are handled too. There’s a small zoo and playground for the smaller children, kids can ride a pony every evening and there are pools for all ages. Dimitris, the owner, and staff are very friendly, helpful and relaxed. They can arrange you everything you need. You want a fight with the Minotaur? They can probably arrange it. Really, they’re the friendliest staff you can ever meet in a hotel. Make sure you try Stone Village’s great rakomelo which is produced there and don’t leave without trying a traditional food at their wonderful restaurant.

Review 99:My husband and I stayed at Stone Village, Bali, for two weeks with our three children of 9, 14 and 17. Dimitris, the owner, and all the staff were genuinely helpful, friendly and generous. Our two-bedroom apartment was spacious with a lovely view from the two balconies, and it was kept spotlessly clean by the cleaning staff every day. The complex is beautifully landscaped, and the food was delicious: well-stocked breakfast buffets and reasonably priced restaurant dinners, including a lot of locally produced ingredients and Cretan dishes. Bali itself is lovely, with plenty of tavernas, a couple of good beaches and clean, clear water. The public transport (air-conditioned buses) is frequent and cheap, so it's easy to travel to interesting nearby cities like Rethymno without having to hire a car. We had a great time at Stone Village!

Review 100:Unexperinced staff. Cleaning below average. Dirty and unclean pools. Bugs at the breakfast-buffet. Horrible matresses. 20 minutes walk from beach.

Review 101:Nice hotell-owner Nice self-service shop Nice view.

Review 102:It was problematic to get into the public bus to Rethymno or Heraklion..long queues at the bus stop, as a result not everyone is allowed to enter the bus.. I would suggest to request the organization of more frequent bus running to cities from the site, at least in high season..

Review 103:Very decent option for reasonable money. Nice organization, professional staff, gardens with fruit trees, excellent breakfast with plenty of fruits and fresh orange juices, which is not always a case for lmany 5-star restaurants!

Review 104:- Breakfast buffet - Relaxed atmosphere, ideal for families with children beyond their first living years - Swimming pool areas - Friendly staff - The zoo - The hotel area with its allowing for interesting expeditions among the kids
