Reviews for The Nook

Review 1:Lack of car parking, we didn't deserve a space and had to find on street parking which was difficult.

Review 2:Great position and friendly staff! Breakfast was very nice. Rooms were a little small but had everything you need for a comfortable stay.

Review 3:Probably not suitable for people who can't walk a lot, as is up the hills from the beaches.

Review 4:Very friendly staff. Great breakfast. Excellent modern rooms

Review 5:Poor location, thin walls so noise of next door ventilator kept me awake, quality of breakfast poor, quality of bed mediocre, cleanliness could be improved (bathroom), no table or desk so no work space. The Nook is supposed to be 4-star, but I think this is unjustified!

Review 6:Friendly staff who really tried their best

Review 7:just a really tiny point, I thought a 1hr time slot for breakfast was a bit rushed.

Review 8:Good location, nice clean bedroom with comfy beds and pillows. Great Full English Breakfast.

Review 9:Was slightly worried that no member of staff was on site during the night especially as was a solo traveller.

Review 10:Very clean and comfortable. excellent breakfast and friendly staff.

Review 11:Nothing bad. My bed was a bit lopsided, felt like it was sloping! Quite a steep walk back from town after a night out.

Review 12:Staff were extremely friendly, very helpful. The place was modern, the rooms light and airy, loads of towels, drinks, everything you needed in the room. Breakfast was lovely - a huge choice with massive pots of tea!

Review 13:What I liked best was the accommodation of the staff. We turned up 5 hours after we had arranged but the guy was really friendly, as if we were on time, and when it came time to leave, the Lady allowed us an extra hour which was absolutely perfect. Everything else was excellent as well. Perfect stay.

Review 14:Both myself and my husband woke with backache every morning of our stay, but our sleep was peaceful

Review 15:The staff were very friendly and very kindly sent back a lost teddy to us!

Review 16:Bathroom miniature, no window, couldn't move at all. Bedroom so small - no where to put luggage etc Carpets need replacing throughout, dirty and old looking.

Review 17:Breakfast and staff.

Review 18:Nothing

Review 19:John and Lisa were excellent hosts. There was a problem with our reservation but it was resolved cheerfully and quickly. The Nook is very clean, nicely and comfortably decorated and in a good location. In addition, the breakfast is wonderful and very generous.

Review 20:The very small bathroom - but it did have an excellent shower.

Review 21:Helpful, friendly staff, great breakfast, quiet, comfortable bed and very clean. Good location.

Review 22:It was an absolutely beautiful hotel, our room was lovely and comfy! It was so close to the centre of St Ives, so it was ideal location. We spent a lot of time in the room, it was so clean and cosy. The staff were extremely lovely and friendly too, I will definitely be coming back next year!

Review 23:The location is ideal with parking which is at a premium in St Ives, during high season, with just a short walk into town or the beaches. Also ease for getting out and about when taking the car to other locations in this part of Cornwall.

Review 24:Cleanliness in the room was a little hit and miss, bedside lamps were very dusty and the tea tray but everything else was a good standard. Didn't affect our stay as the room, staff and breakfast were fantastic

Review 25:The warm welcome on arrival and the delish breakfast

Review 26:My room 8was small but I knew that when I booked. If you come without a car you do have a bit of a walk down/uphill into St Ives which you really need to be prepared for but that does mean it is quiet. My carpet needed a vacuum after 1 week and I had the same sheets for a week.

Review 27:Excellent breakfast, high general standard of cleanliness, free wi fi,use of iron and board, quiet location and quiet overall,I was given the single room I asked for with the black curtains to keep out the light, good facilities overall, new and modern feel.Very near Portmeor beach.

Review 28:I made the bed 3 days and the bathroom was not cleaned for 3 days. one day no cleaner went into room at all. Was very disapointed at this as it says cleaner comes daily. I tried to clean roll holder as rusty as was toilet brush.

Review 29:very friendly, breakfast great, lovely lounge to sit in and plenty of information by way of leaflets.

Review 30:there was nothing I didn't like

Review 31:The courtesy and friendliness of the staff, the brilliant breakfast and the variety of food available. The whole premises was spotless and due to the staff, the total ambience was excellent.

Review 32:Defected bed soft mattress room had a smell of mustiness and in our option should have not been let out as 4*

Review 33:Only stayed for 1 night instead of 4 See below

Review 34:Wi-Fi was not very good and bed had indents in where it had sagged with use, saying that it wasn't uncomfortable just made it difficult to change position. The bathroom was a little narrow and would have liked hooks closer to shower for the towels.

Review 35:The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was a good size, we had booked the superior room so also had couch and DVD player, the bed was a good size. We found a little fridge in the closet which was a bonus we hadn't expected. Breakfast was very substantial and kept us going until late afternoon.

Review 36:Just steep hill walk back from town. Good reasonable cab service though.

Review 37:Excellent facilities, high quality service and spotless rooms. A lovely place to stay with great views across the bay.

Review 38:breakfast time short,i.e. 08:15 to 09:15 and then having to wait for a place.I think an extra half-hour or so 10;00 maybe .would make a difference .

Review 39:parking,cleanliness,and very good breakfast.

Review 40:Mattress too soft. The cleanliness of the shower was poor (full of limescale). Shower itself a disappointment- not enough power. No desk in room.

Review 41:Very friendly staff, generous breakfast and great location. Room was comfortable and airy.

Review 42:The property is just about 7 min walk from the center of St Ives. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I had a lovely comfortable single room. I very enjoyed my stay and If I ever come back to Cornwall, I will stay again in this place. Thank you!

Review 43:The shower could have been a bit more powerful and the bed in room 10 is in need of a new mattress.

Review 44:The room is modern, with lovely white linen on the bed and towels was the best I had in hotels of this standard. The staff was very friendly and could not do enough for you. Breakfast is great! We have already booked for next year.

Review 45:Mattress needs replacing, two deep, lumpy hollows. I turned it and it was marginally better. Shower and shower room very small.

Review 46:Size of the room and storage was good. Nicely decorated.

Review 47:It was a bit of a hike into St. Ives. Was no problem for two young-ish people, but if you're not as mobile or don't apprecite the walk after dinner, it could be a problem.

Review 48:Nice little B&B with excellent and friendly hosts. Was great to have on site parking and a base for exploring the area.

Review 49:Wi-fi slow and unreliable The quad room was really too small for 4 beds

Review 50:excellent atmosphere generated by friendly staff and occupants determined to relax and enjoy themselves

Review 51:Good location - quiet - friendly welcoming and helpful staff. Accommodation in excellent decorative order - room attractive and very comfortable. Good choice at breakfast. Would certainly return and recommend to friends.

Review 52:Not a compliment really but the cooked breakfast wasn't great. Portion size wasn't very generous. Tiny piece of fried bread, half tomato etc

Review 53:Clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly & welcoming. Ample parking which is a good thing in St Ives.

Review 54:Hard work pushing a pushchair up the hill but there are lots of taxis available if the hill is too much.

Review 55:Staff Cleanliness Breakfast St.Ives itself

Review 56:Would appreciate a vegetarian sausage with the veggie breakfast - otherwise very good breakfast The only issue is that the place is SO warm! We turned out radiators off and kept the windows open whenever we were in the room, the corridors were roasting and while that may be appreciated by some, we thought we might expire walking up the stairs in our outdoor clothes.

Review 57:Lovely people, great space downstairs in communal lounge and dining area. Good wifi, my bed was very comfy but my friend's had a bit of a sag in the middle. It was alright once we spun the mattress around though! Great breakfast (especially the coffee) and very good shower - which was very welcome after an icy dip in the ocean. Good location for town, the hill is rather a challenge, but it does make up for it with the views. Nice to have the option to head straight into town or down to Porthmeor beach.

Review 58:Parking-Fee, room service failed, no dishes (glasses, plates, cutlery) available in room or public area, uninspired breakfast, very small room and bath-room

Review 59:Location. It was a good 20 minute walk to town & harbour and it was extremely steep The net curtains really spoiled the room & made it look a bit shabby

Review 60:Very helpful friendly staff

Review 61:not much room for getting out of the shower & no where to hang wet bath towels room cold the first night & too hot the second night

Review 62:Lovely comfy bed...good quality complimentary toiletries & room tea/coffee etc.....good choice of breakfast (although cooked breakfast could have been a bit hotter)...would certainly visit again

Review 63:Bacon and sausage on full english was not the best . Stick with omlettes. Location not the best if not good on your legs steephill.

Review 64:Clean lovely room . Quite . Parking available . Friendly staff.

Review 65:Wifi signal wasn't very strong.

Review 66:The Nook is in a quiet side street but within comfortable walking distance of all St Ives has to offer (if you don't mind a steep hill, but you can't get away from those!) Friendly staff, a good breakfast and bright, attractive accommodation. The room and bathroom are not exactly spacious but there is ample storage so that you can unpack everything out of the way.

Review 67:Cooked breakfast was over cooked especially the bacon! Quite a bit of chatter from the kitchen staff while trying to eat. Had to pay for parking!

Review 68:Room was clean and comfortable . Wi fi excellent. Had a sea view.

Review 69:Everything was clean and very tidy, lovely breakfast and the staff were very friendly throughout our stay. Will definately recommend to others, a really relaxing stay!

Review 70:No Wifi in my room, could only find Wifi signal in lounge and the signal was quite unstable. This is not a place to stay if you need a reliable Internet connection.

Review 71:Tidy place, pretty room, clean bathroom, very nice location close to the beach and coastal footpath, nice and quiet area close to town centre, very friendly staff.

Review 72:Location was a bit far and steep hill to get to location, the room wasn't properly cleaned, on arrival there was a hair brush left and sweet wrappers under the bed, sheets wasn't changed whilst there even though where dirty

Review 73:Staff where lovely and very helpful, breakfast was great clean Area and lovely relaxing lounge. Room was ready on check in which was great and easy.

Review 74:The site is surrounded by council houses at the back, therefore ugly view from rear bedroom...building was taking place on the drive. Charging for parking is audacious. Parking too tight anyway. The room was too small for a double..en suite bathroom was ridiculously small. The rear terrace is minimalist. the lounge is also too small for 11 bedroom b&b. No controller for tv in our room..reported but not fixed.

Review 75:The Breakfast was very good The bed was very comfortable The staff were helpful & pleasant

Review 76:Parking spaces were a nightmare to get car parked. Cooked breakfasts were precooked so the bacon and sausages were either undercooked or very hard .

Review 77:The staff were very pleasant and the place was very clean and modern.

Review 78:No holder to put your toiletries in the shower .A heated towel rail would be very useful as it was very difficult to get the towels dry.

Review 79:A nice airy room .Very good breakfasts with very friendly staff.

Review 80:The rooms quite small, same for the bathrooms.

Review 81:This lovely B&B is situated perfect for everything. You're on the south west coast path in no time and the same with the beaches and the lovely town center. The staff was always welcoming an helpful. We can highly recommend the breakfast a you had a huge choice of continental and British specialties. Absolutely worth a stay!!!

Review 82:Breakfast only available between 8.15 and 9.15am so no lie-ins! Shower a little small. No bath.

Review 83:Excellent and friendly staff. Room size more than adequate. Good cleanliness and delicious breakfasts!

Review 84:More like a guest house than a hotel that is not obvious from the photos. Location is up on the hill, that was fine for us but may be not suitable for other travelers.

Review 85:Quiet accommodation, but not far from beaches and restaurants. Everything is within a walking distance. Clean room. Good choice for breakfast.

Review 86:quite small parking area with fee (GBP 2,00 per day), very poor W-Lan connectivity in the room, bathroom (especially shower was not very clean)

Review 87:nice welcome, friendly hosts who try to get into contact with their guests despite of the fairly large number of rooms (for a classic B&B), good value for money

Review 88:Breakfast time was for 1 hour between 830 and 930 - a bit of an early finish for us. We booked 2 rooms for 4 people: a twin and family room. The twin was very small with a bathroom squeezed in where the toilet could only be accessed by closing the door. The other room was a family room with 2 single and 1 double bed which in theory was over capacity for 2 people but the space was about right. Not sure what you can do as space is probably just at a premium in st ives.

Review 89:Comfortable beds and general standard of cleanliness. Freshly prepared breakfast.

Review 90:Would say that if you are a bit on the round side, (as I am) you might have a bit of bother getting in the bathroom. It was tiny (but beautifully put together). They may have larger bathrooms, I didn't ask as I breathed in and it was not a problem! Skinnymalicks will be fine!

Review 91:Bright comfy room and bed. Lovely staff and very wonderful breakfast. Do book a parking space, although its a great opportunity to get fit if you walk into town and back!

Review 92:Location long walk up the hill. Room layout not too much space Electric sockets in impossible to use location. Small bathroom.

Review 93:Hotel staff very friendly. Hotel very clean. Excellent breakfast and choice

Review 94:The mattress in our room was lumpy but didn't cause any lack of sleep. Parking was an additional expense, I thought it could've been complimentary as room wasn't cheap.

Review 95:The room was quite nice even though a little small and the shower cubicle was not very big. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was lovely with the hot food cooked to order. The location was not bad - approx 15 minutes but walk back involved a bit of an uphill walk but good for helping dinner go down! On-site parking was handy too as not much street parking nearby. We had a small view of the water from our room which was nice to wake up to.

Review 96:Breakfast was lovely and place was warm & friendly

Review 97:We loved the friendly atmosphere and how helpful everyone was

Review 98:Friendly staff

Review 99:Fantastic accommodation . stunning breakfast.

Review 100:Rooms quite hot in the night time.

Review 101:Very good breakfast-comfortable rooms-very clean.

Review 102:Poor bed with bed springs close to poking out of mattress

Review 103:Quality fittings, great breakfast, helpful host. Proximity to local amenities.

Review 104:Clean, well stocked room, nice breakfast selection, room was pretty basic but definitely value for money.

Review 105:Good location. Professional service. Staff knowledgeable about the area.

Review 106:Lovely place, excellent breakfast, delightful hosts.easy walk into to centre

Review 107:They are lovely and the accommodation is very comfortable and clean with an amazing breakfast.

Review 108:sprung mattress was old and sagged badly

Review 109:Quiet but central location

Review 110:Superb breakfast!

Review 111:Everything

Review 112:nothing too drastic but the bathroom was little on the small side.....luckily we were of a slim build.

Review 113:a clean friendly hotel

Review 114:Parking, facilities and friendly staff

Review 115:the best I have stayed in

Review 116:Bed was very hard

Review 117:Good food. Welcoming staff.

Review 118:Lovely hotel, excellent breakfast with nicely styled rooms. Good location

Review 119:Children found Wi-go to be a bit slow

Review 120:We were able to park the car and were able to have an earlier breakfast due to sailing to Isles of Scilly

Review 121:No issues with the Nopk

Review 122:One of the few places offering rooms for single folk

Review 123:friendly hosts, yummy breakfast quiet position yet only five minutes from Portmeor Beach

Review 124:Nothing. Everything was lovely can't fault it!

Review 125:We had an amazing time here. Staff were all so lovely
